I recently blew out the driveshaft and Watts link on mine and the whole rear suspension was taken out by the driveshaft can’t wait to have mine back had to watch something out there like mine appreciate the video about to dump a other 3k in to it

I sold my last 03 Merc but man your videos are making me want to build another one......do you think the throttle body, upper plenum and Victor Jr. Intake were worth the upgrade? My last Panther was just a Marauder air box and intake tube with a 80mm MAF sensor, Marty Tune from Mo's Speed shop and custom dual exhaust, but willing to put in the work in the intake of the 4.6 if its worth the gains. Def will be getting a set of those Cams too along with a set of long tube headers and a true 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust system. Regardless, glad to see the car is still around and kicking ass as usual!
Every bolt on you can think of...under drive pulleys, intake and upper plenum, throttle body, headers etc. With the Motive 4.30 rear gear set you will get a little whine or noise when there's a certain amount of load on the pinion at certain speeds.
its got obx long tube headers and a 2.5 inch x-pipe into magnaflow mufflers. 2.5 over the axle bumped to 3 inch after the rear tires then straight out to the bumber. cams are Hi-tech stage 2
I bought an oem console and floor shift assembly from an 05 grand marquis. I modified the interlock in my original steering column. The cams are Hi-tech stage 2
the last time it was on the dyno it made 281/297 at the wheels. that was with a PI intake and 75mm throttle body/plenum combo. yes ive thought about nitrous and boost over the years

Hey what set up do you have I have a 2011 Vic with p71 4.6 I have SCT tune with Jet performance throttle body and 4:56 gears but it’s not quite quick enough off the line. What converter do you have in your car and what cam?
It's just one of those terms that is cookie cutter and just doesn't go away....but the majority of enthusiasts speak that language so...it describes what I've done or haven't done for that matter.

(Which are typically all the things you can do to the exterior of the engine such as intake, headers, intake mani, underdrive pullies, bigger TB... I suppose ITBs would technically count as a bolt on, but those are so badass the deserve a specific mention. And yes, I know you didn't do those here, I'm just saying.)

I J-modded it and also disassembled the valve body and installed a sonax "sure cure" kit. later after the first High stall convertrer went bad I pulled the transmission again and had it rebuilt I'v run 2 different high stall torque converters over the years. one 3400 and the circle D i'currently use that I've had reconfigured twice now. a 3000 stall, 3400-3600,and now a 3800-4000 stall. Also installed a huge external trans cooler and a Auto meter trans temp guage for a ford diesel. Matches my oem ford green backlighting

It would be hard for me to say. If your able to do most or all of the work yourself, it would cost you drastically less. Working on this car over the yrs, for the most part, has been a blast. I would really have to sit down and think about how much I have into it total. But just a few things for example for starters I bought the car for 7500 when it was only 2 yrs old. Also The only things I've paid to have done was the Dyno tuning, multiple rear end and differential configurations, and the transmission rebuild (I've rebuilt the valve body myself then went back into it to fine tune things multiple times), all other work I've done myself including pulling the transmission 5 times...lol. examples of some of this cost; the last time I had a gear swap including parts and a new diff and also truing and welding my axle tubes, cost me about $2000 Paid $1700 to have my transmission rebuilt, and $700+$150 for the Dyno Tune.($850 included 1st dyno tune, SCT handheld device, and 1 retune)
Kevin, on the website you need to first choose the the "Ford" option. then "AOD". there are 5 options for that Transmission. You want the "245mm PRO SERIES" You choose from multiple stall ranges. there's also an option to add a 3-Disc lock up. I have the 3-Disc Lock up and a 3800-4000 stall range. @@jeeplifted1 my peak torque is between 4-4500rpm. That's why this stall range works well for me. I can't speak on the cougar though. 289ci? Or is it a big block?
I chose to install a large aftErmarket cooler because it was cheap and will only help. The trans is absolutely awesome! I did things right when rebuilding it and the valve body. It should last a long time.
@@mooreaj man I've used a stock 11.25 2400 stall, a 9.5 3400 edge, a 9.75 2800 stall circle d, a 3400 stall circle d and a 3800 circle d. Thiese have all been with cams, headers etc. I would never want to use anything that doesn't at least stall above 3k rpm. You've got cams and a good gear. I would want this even if everything else was stock. Including rear gear

@@mooreaj lol yeah I'm running a tire size that's one inch shorter than the stock tires the p71's use so with the 4.30 it's like a 4.56 (mph vs rpm). I run at 2850 in OD at 70 mph. I don't have a converter to sell. Just what's in the car. I used an Edge that ran me about $600 then moved on to a circle D that I had the stall range re configured 3 times lol. The way the circle d was expensive but man the quality in the way it's built and the engagement of the multi disc lock up is like nothing else I've seen or used. This converter will withstand anything I can throw at it with the small amount of power this engine makes...like i said though this 4.6 even stock doesn't make a ton of torque anywhere much less down low. Even stock you would make the car way more fun with usable power stalling at least above 3k rpm

That's what really helps launch the car hard off the line.. i have a vid of my stock converter it can go to about 1,400rpms before the tires want to spin, yours may be much higher than that..

@@biggyles9550 I've only ever seen a 4.6 2v make 300+ to the wheels. That was the vic featured in "car craft" magazine. To make that power they used trick flow cylinder heads and something close to a "stage 2" cam, long tubes, a dyno tune etc. There's also a guy that did a stroked his 4.6 2v. Used ported oem heads, long tubes, Victor Jr. Intake, 75mm throttle body matched with a huge upper plenum, and bolt on etc. He made a little over 300hp on a chassis dyno and maybe around 330 torque. His username is mrvic on RUclips. Its hard to make good power with the 2v unless you use TFS heads and huge cams at the very least. Ateast N/A, anyway.

So can always have him re-tune me. Type of exhaust you run? Pipe diameter? Cams? Intake? With the stall converter and gears are you able to mash the gas and have it take off hard?
Absolutely...that's the intent behind the configuration. It will spin the tires though
