I got a marty tune for my 2000 Grand Marquis and I had to have him change a few things, mainly the wide open throttle shifts and shift firmness. Side note, he seemed upset that I wanted a few revisions until I got what I wanted. Don't let that dissuade you from getting the tune you want. You paid $535 for it. Anyway, it would shift out of first at like 60mph at WOT, which was ridiculous. If I hadn't had him change that, it would have eventually destroyed the torque converter. 2003 and up are what you want. They have the PI engine (2001+, Performance Improved), and the new-for-2003 suspension and steering upgrade which changes a boat that wallows in the corners into a vehicle that can holds its own against most. Personally I'd go 2005+ due to CANbus/DBW (much simpler overall setup). 2005-2008 seem to be the sweet spot; 2005 still has the 1996-2004 style instrument cluster (but can be swapped up if you're up to that task), and some don't like the quarter panel AM/FM antenna they have (only year to have this). 2009-2011 are hit and miss; build quality didn't seem as good in those years at least with consistency. 2011 has the cartoonishly large headrests.
Did you have lag on takeoff before the tune? Due to electronic throttle (drive by wire) I hear that’s why my 08 does it. Does getting the tune help with throttle response on takeoff? That is my least favorite part about my car

Okay, so i believe alls you would have to do is go to the facebook page, called Mo's Speedshop. On there you should be able to find Marty's email and phone number (the tuner) and he should be able to get you all the information on what you have to do. I just bought the whole package which was the tuner and his tunes that are personal to your car. It will be way cheaper since you already have an sct, but idk if it matters or not if it was previously married to another car if you have used it before. Im sure they can reset it easily but im not sure.
In my experience, my fuel tank feels a bit smaller after getting a marty tune ('00 Marquis). If I drive normally and try not to push it, mpg is about 10%-15% worse than stock.
I used to get 330 to the tank just by nature of how i drive, now i get about 300. But, thats just because where i live currently. All the speed limits are from 30-45 and after the tune it doesnt shift into the over drive gears regardless until your at certains speeds
Not really true. I've driven those older ones, and I've worked on a lot of them. I have a 2005, have had it since early 2014. It's been the best car I've ever had. The DBW vs cable 'performance difference' is all in the head. It's like a placebo - you think the cable is better but it isn't.
Ive had it on my car for the past month or so and i love it. When you talk with Marty he will ask what firmness level you want for your shifts for the transmission, i went with a 7 (5 is stock) because of the mileage and upkeep of my vic. Alls my car has done is the exhaust is completely custom (ive got a few videos throughout the different renditions) and a drop in k&n air filter. Plus in the Sct tuner you get, you can change the pressure for each shift into gears. So for example, after i loaded the tune, i noticed that the 2-3 shift was ridiculous, and i dont wanna blow my trans out, so i lowered the pressure -5 and its perfect for me at that. Anymore questions and i can try to give my two cents.

The reason why i made this video was to share my experience of buying the Marty tune. I wasnt really caring about the performance gains, if there was any at all cool. Alls i cared about was whether or not it affected how my car drove specifically, and it made it more of a fun experience to drive vs stock tune. However, i do wish i had a dragy to test all my different cars and compare.
My car stock was way better then yours, mine is also not a p71. I have single exhaust with a cherry bomb and it still looks better then your car stock. My ecu went bad with the pats system so I got a p71 ecu and it now shifts right at red line and bangs shifts, from every video I've seen my car is a lot more awake then most crown vics. That being said in the year or so the car is getting a turbo and if it doesn't it will be getting a marty tune.
I can assure you that stock P71 will be better, performance wise, than your stock LX. That single exhaust will not outflow the dual H-pipe exhaust the stock P71 comes with. Cherry Bomb mufflers (glasspacks) are notoriously one of the most restrictive style mufflers you can buy. Don't think for one minute it will outflow a stock muffler, given that you can see right through it. See those 'cheese grate' baffles in the pipe? Those set up eddy currents in the flow that cause back pressure. There's no way that's better than a stock P71. Don't think for one minute that you can extrapolate a performance difference in your car by the feel of your butt vs. a RUclips video. Life doesn't work that way.

ah i see your crown vic also abs issue too.
Turn it off when starting up
Thanks for sharing this video, what's the setup for the exhaust? Trying to match that on my 04 Marquis
Rear cat deleted, to an x pipe and two dynomax race bullets. All 2¼" pipe instead of the stock 2". And 3" slash cut exhaust tips i believe.
@@Matt-Wynn Awesome, thanks for the info man
@Matt-Wynn love your information! So can the rear cat be deleted without throwing codes?
What type of paint is your vic? I'm trying to get something similar. Love the vic too ❤
I wanna buy a crown Vic as a first car, any tips on years or models to look out for?
Absolutely, it seemed like the tune helped out a boat load. Id recommend it to anyone looking about doing it. Its only 500 bucks so why not try it
@@Matt-Wynn I’m definitely going to, just waiting for the money to be right. Can’t wait tho
@@jarrodrobeck4527 awesome dude, i sold this car about 5 months ago, buut just today, i picked up a 2011 with 99k miles. This one is also marty tuned and it feels way better then the silver vic
@@Matt-Wynnso bro did you go to a local shop & get that Marty tune or you ordered one online?
@@juanray2614 i ordered it online through emailing him. Look up Mo's Speedshop on Facebook and hes got all the information on there. Im up here in Wisconsin
Add turbo 108 from oreillys then retune it to 93 youll notice so much more
What kind of Exhaust u got installed?
Just came across your channel and this clip, overall now with this much time has passed is it still acting well with the tune?.
I sold the car in January but still drove perfectly fine and way better than stock. The guy I sold it to is still driving it, and now i have another one that i got a few months ago that also is Marty tuned. Drives like a dream
@@Matt-Wynn thanks I have 2011 I asked because I want one but the down side is i spoke to Marty and he can’t ship it to me to California state restrictions, but I’ll get it somehow.
@@DavidHernandez-iu9lq Its worth it imo. The one ive got now is a 2011, i posted a vid on it. Way nicer than my silver one.
Love the color on this vic. Is it baby blue or light gray? Looks really unique
Silver! You dont really see that many at least around where im at. My buddys got one that was identical to this one. Sadly shes gone now, sold it to get my truck and i wish i kept it. Was a blast
@@Matt-Wynn my dad has a gunmetal gray lx sport (ex police chief car) I wrecked my truck then picked up a nearly identical one like 5 years later and we run around like a couple units side by side from time to time and it's pretty fun, no?
i have the programmer like yours how do i get it to the person to load a Marty Tune please and thank you
Okay, so i believe alls you would have to do is go to the facebook page, called Mo's Speedshop.
Also i just looked it up, you can go to there website now mosspeedshop.com. It wasn't up whenever i got the tune for my car.
@@Matt-Wynn yup found it and sent them a dm message thank you
I got the same radio in my Crown 😂 pioneer
Must be fairly common in panthers I got the same radio in my 06 Grand Marquis
Does it get better or worse gas mileage MPG
It should get 2-3 mpg better with tune
In my experience, my fuel tank feels a bit smaller after getting a marty tune ('00 Marquis). If I drive normally and try not to push it, mpg is about 10%-15% worse than stock.
I used to get 330 to the tank just by nature of how i drive, now i get about 300. But, thats just because where i live currently. All the speed limits are from 30-45 and after the tune it doesnt shift into the over drive gears regardless until your at certains speeds
@@BunnyAssassin i got a X4 AND A MARTY TUNE LOVE IT
Ive owned a 2007 P71 and its a good car. But honestly a 03-04 way better
What makes the older cars better?
Not really true. I've driven those older ones, and I've worked on a lot of them. I have a 2005, have had it since early 2014. It's been the best car I've ever had. The DBW vs cable 'performance difference' is all in the head. It's like a placebo - you think the cable is better but it isn't.
I have a 06 can I get this with a completely stock interceptor and it won't mess up anything like transmission or blow my engine
@@Matt-Wynn ok cool thanks so much
No. But 05-06 had alot of transmission problems and others to list. 07-11 better
@@fastfords9072 I have my crown Vic for almost 7 years and never had any transmission problems at all only one major problem intake manifold went out that's it
@@KINGVIC87 if its got the early plastic intake then ya its great you replaced it
What kind of exhaust do you have? Sounds great
Rear cat deleted to an x pipe and two dynomax race bullets. All 2¼" pipe instead of the 2 inch
do you have to keep it plugged in ?
Nope! But you can have it plugged in to data log and use as a gauge for different parameters
Does it give you better gas mileage
Im my case, no. I could get 330 if i was really babying it before the tune, but about 290-300 afterwards with the tune on both of my cars (the silver one in the video, and my white one currently)
Does this move the 4k rpm limiter up? Or no
Unfortunately no. Thats the only thing i wish it would change lol
@@Matt-Wynn ive been trying to find out how to remove it... well i did find a way its on a tuning software but i dont really wana pay 100 a month for something ill use a handful amount of times
Is the parking brake on?
Noo, the abs pump was bad in the car so both the abs and parking brakes stayed on all the time of me owning the car. Never got around to fixing it before i got rid of it

Is there a website for this tune?
There is but, its constantly under maintenance. You can find his email on there Facebook page, and email Marty directly with all of your questions. He replied super fast for me. Heres the link to their Facebook page: m.facebook.com/MosSpeedShop/

@@Matt-Wynn Thanks, i had the thin plastic one from walmart but the lid caved in

Dude what is that exhaust system?
All custom from the manifolds back. Its full 2¼" pipe instead of the factory 2". I have the rear cats deleted, to an x pipe, two dynomax race bullets, and then to 3 inch slash cut tips.
All of this video is subjective, would of been nice to see 0-60 stock and with tune.
How it was stock lol bro it’s stock come on now
My car stock was way better then yours, mine is also not a p71.
My car looks better then yours and it's faster with my Marty tune 😂🤷🏾♂️
Just buy a faster car. Daily drive these, own two cars.
Jaguar XJ8.
Oh i am, im gonna be getting a mustang in spring. Currently living in a apartment that doesn't have a garage so i cant have two cars.

Rear cat deleted, x pipe, and dynomax race bullets. All 2¼" pipe from the stock headers back to 3½" slash cut tips
Do you have to leave it plugged in after the tune is done?
Nope! Not at all. However you can use it to datalog different parameters.
