i rescued a baby squirrel at 3 weeks old and he LOVED sleeping in my hoodie, he was such a sweet boy but at 8 weeks something got into his night pen (mom made me keep him outside in a box) and he was gone :'( i have some videos from my old phone posted on my channel but I'm sad hes gone but will always have the memories. the time I had with him though I was spoiling him like crazy. He was such a cutie

I have like 8 squirrels living in my roof, unconsentually they burrowed through the roof😂 now I hear scratching every night knowing there having an blast on that roof. And there way too comfortable being around me lmao I would open the door, and they would just stare into my soul before running, and then come back with garbage in there hand😂
I have big parks were I live and I been feeding squirrels since April. I think that most people think of them as rats (they are not, but are in rodent family). I also notice that when some people walk their dogs, they encourage them to chase them up a tree for giggles and laughs. I don’t get mad at them dogs, but I get mad at their owners 😡
Hearing people eat makes me wanna punch walls, and yet when I hear an adorable little animal munching and smacking their lips, nothing is more adorable.
You can tell that the squirrel loves you. I rescue kittens because we have a lot of feral cats around the neighborhood so I am the designated kitten care person of the neighborhood along with my across the street neighbors.

For a couple years I had a squirrel visit me daily anticipating his afternoon "snacks," & would stand on his hind legs & look for me through my big glass patio door if I wasn't already outside with his food...I fed him veggies (like carrots & turnips ) hard-boiled eggs, unsalted peanuts in the shell, bits of animal protein & fruit...He really loved fresh summer peaches & green grapes... *: )* You must have a very kind & loving soul to be involved with rehabbing wild animals...Sending you love & well wishes...Bless you!!! I feed around 10-15 wild squirrels everyday outside my house. They're amazing animals, inteligent and full of personality. People should respect them more and give them a chance to live a happy life.
Each squirrel is more adorable than the previous! I started feeding one, now i have 30! 🐿️💰🥜 When the peanut bowl is empty, they do the 🤡 in whichever window they see me, even if it's the 2nd floor... I will need a therapy to stop loving them that much... Crazy squirrel lady!
That look when she woke up and the way she munched her blackberry, how she fell asleep when being combed and her little teddybear... 💖 Even an animal feels great with a momma who tucks her in.
Max life span of a squirrel in it's natural environment is about 6 years, oldest recorded wild squirrel is 12 years but in ideal conditions with no predators, who knows, could be longer. But 20 years as a pet or in a zoo is very common. So let's hope for a nice long life for this beauty!
I didn’t know they lived so long. I thought 2-3 years as rats. Made me happy to know. When I was a child we had a squirrel at the bird feeder, my mother put nuts there for squirrel. 🇸🇪🇪🇪
Speaking from experience: rescued squirrels are wonderful pets. They acclimate well to being with humans and, once grown, they can balance striking out on their own outside and still returning to the people who raised them from time to time. They enjoy climbing on people, and although they can learn to be gentle, their nails are very capable of breaking skin. Basically, your biggest concern with raising a rescue squirrel and then releasing it won't be saying goodbye, because you won't have to, and it won't be whether or not the squirrel can survive on its own. (It definitely can) It will be that your neighborhood now contains a squirrel that thinks humans are the bee's knees and may not understand that not every human is as kind as its parent(s).
Very well said and my Bonnie is a prime example of that EXCEPT from experience I found that squirrels are more like chihuahuas as they are more of a one person animal. They will love and listen to their "mommy" (whether it's a woman or a man) but be apprehensive of others. Bonnie will TOLERATE my friends and family but she won't let anyone do the things we do together. They can recognize look and sound, but most of all SMELL their person. At least that's just what I noticed raising my little squirrel Bonnie.

technically we do. but then bad people ruin it and then most (if not all) the love fades. but being "for the people" doesn't generate money. if there is power to be had, then there will always be someone to try and take it. whatever means it takes. i know saying "we are the virus" is cliché and silly, but it's the truth.
I think we underestimate the ability of animals to bond and develop relations with humans if raised in such as manner. I think animals have this capacity, and we must remember that they can feel and reason in many ways.
We took in a grey squirrel at 7-8 weeks & here we are two years later. She is the most amazing little loving rodent. She craves getting kisses & will kiss us back. When she gets what she wants, like back rubs or ear rubs, she will kiss us as a thank you. She gets along w our huge cat, grandmas dog, our bunnies & our birds. We dont recommend anyone have a squirrel as a pet cuz they require 24/7 care and expensive vet bills. Our girl has malocclusion so she is unable to be released. She is with us for the next 18+ years and we couldnt be happier
The bond you get with an animal when they are young is unbreakable. It's just so beautiful and amazing. This is why people should try to save every single one they can find. You never know when that next awesome companion will come along

How is Jill that chill? I found an orphaned squirrel and have been caring for him for 6 weeks. He is absolutely bonkers!! He gets into everything and literally bounces off the walls. He's quite the handful.

It makes me so happy when I see two very different species loving and accepting eachother as family...it gives me hope for us humans to accept one another. Just because we look different, our hearts are still the same. This lady means everything to this little squirrel.

Jill is just so cute! And mom does a great job keeping her happy.
How is Jill that chill? I found an orphaned squirrel and have been caring for him for 6 weeks. He is absolutely bonkers!! He gets into everything and literally bounces off the walls. He's quite the handful.

I've always wanted a squirrel as a pet. When I was a kid I saw a guy at the vet with one. Super friendly and I actually got to hold it.
