But or Rent - Zathura: A Space Adventure - • Grown Ups (2010)
After their father (Tim Robbins) is called into work, two young boys, Walter (Josh Hutcherson) and Danny (Jonah Bobo), are left in the care of their teenage sister, Lisa (Kristen Stewart), and told they must stay inside. Walter and Danny, who anticipate a boring day, are shocked when they begin playing Zathura, a space-themed board game, which they realize has mystical powers when their house is shot into space. With the help of an astronaut (Dax Shepard), the boys attempt to return home.

Zathura is by the same author of Jumanji. They were originally children’s picture books. When the brothers found Jumanji, they were uninterested in it. The board game then transformed into Zathura so they would pick it up and play it. The films don’t really have this connection, though the Jumanji sequel picked up on the game’s transformation ability and became a video game.

Pretty much your alternate self is "frozen in time" meanwhile remember that he wished his brother wasnt born when they first played the game. So once that shooting star happened it remembered who played on which rocket just like in Jumanji. The whole cheating thing is a serious offense because the game wanted to give the older brother another chance to make things right with the shooting star. It wouldn't have worked for the younger brother because again it wasn't his turn. So while the game gave him 3 wishes like a genie it was all up to Josh's character to make the right decision to let go of his own issues and actually be a brother for once. The robot "reprogramming" was the same metaphor for Josh's character to reprogram how he saw his relationship with his brother. It was supposed to be a wholesome movie but because they needed to add in the sci-fi effect they thought it best to let the audience come to that conclusion. (Family is the most important part in your life. Dont take it for granted. Youll never know how short life can be)

That's a good summurization of the symbolism shown throughout the film!

This movie needs to become like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and The Next Level as a video game movie sequel.

    @gamebeast4191 4 месяца назад +3

the explosion made a lot of heat, and the reason why the kids met the astronaut was cause since there was only one player left 15 yrs ago in the story, so the game created a paradox, and when the danny that was brought back arrived, the game could finally be finished

  • @jafeir

Yeah, the Astronaut was an alternate version of Walter, from a timeline in which he used the Star Space with wish his brother away. And Danny summoned him with his turn in THAT timeline

So the older brother is Peeta from Hunger Games and the sister is Bella from Twilight.

Basically the sequel to Jumanji but since it lacked some of the star power of the original, and didn't directly reference the first movie, it was largely ignored. It didn't do very well at the box office. It's actually a pitty that the new movies made no reference to Zathura. Theoretically, the game could take any form and subject.

Both Jumanji and Zathura are based on books written by the same person (Chris Van Allsburg). So technically, it's more like a spinoff rather than a ripoff.

15:30 - To be honest, I don't know either. But, because there is barely an atmosphere in space, there is nothing for heat energy to transfer away from an object *in* space.
So, it's a weird limbo between hot and cold since we made those terms *with* an atmosphere in mind. (In Kerbal Space Program for example. In space, the thermometer has nothing to measure aside from the shuttle or the thermometer itself which is a bit of an issue if you want to measure space's temperature) But if I recall correctly, you are probably going to be cooked in outer space due to the sun's rays directly hitting you, the Earth's atmosphere won't protect you this time around. You may also freeze instead if you were in a blindspot for the sun, such as the dark side of the moon.
My best guess about fire in space? There is no atmosphere, therefore, no oxygen. It's like putting the lid onto one of those scented candles. *Maybe* some oxygen can linger on the couch due to the sponginess, but it won't keep burning for too long.

Clearly JV never read my comments on their Jumanji videos about watching Zathura being a spiritual sequel since in the books it's a direct sequel. And one ofnthe BTS of filming the recent films he basically counts as Zathura being jumanji 2 lol

My brother and I were like this. We hated each other so much. I was always the mellow nice kid. And he was the hell raiser that literally everyone in my extended family didn't like. So he always pushed my buttons, and I always reacted. He's tolerable now as an adult. But I still kinda hate him for all the shit he did to me the first 12 years of my life. I'm 2 years older too. I just didn't like fighting. So I never kicked his ass

The black hole explains everything with the astronaut and his other self. Think the new Star Trek and Spock, older and younger. When the Astronaut is eating a bunch of food he says he got sucked into a black hole about ye big, that's what happened.

Be it Jumanji or Zathura, these games bend time, space and reality.
If you ever where that kind of kid, remember the time when everything was possible? When there was no limit to your imagination?
When you believed in fairy tales? No logic bogging you down?
Try to be that kid again and go with the flow.
You've seen Hook, it shouldn't be that hard 🙂

In answer to your question of is this a "ripoff" of Jumanji and
you've seen the older brother as Peeta in The Hunger Games movies.
Zathura is an adaptation of the 2002 children's book Zathura by Chris Van Allsburg, author of the 1981 children's book Jumanji. It is a standalone spin-off of the 1995 film Jumanji and the second installment of the Jumanji franchise. The film stars Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Dax Shepard, Kristen Stewart, and Tim Robbins.

Many people hate this movie because its not as good as Jumanji. I love it though, sure its not as good. But its fun seeing another board game in the Jumanji universe that comes to life. Also some didn't like the acting of anyone in it.
