Honestly, all the Robert Rodriguez kids films (spy kids and sharkboy and lavagirl) were total fever dreams and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I would love to watch shark boy and lava girl while tripping balls. I feel like that would be quite interesting. 🤔

Netflix has a movie “We Can Be Heroes” which is an indirect sequel to “Sharkboy and Lava Girl”. It has the kids of the heroes. It’s another Robert Rodriguez that has Pedro Pascal and a few others like Christian Slater , Christopher McDonald and Sung Kang.
The second one is my favorite, so that one is a must! So glad you enjoyed this for what it is 🙏🏼

I dont care what ppl say you need to watch all 4 movies. Yes the 4th is so far into the future it can be its own movie, but its a good movie in its own way.

I honestly never noticed the bad CGI when I watched this as a kid, but I do notice it now. the spy kids movies are fun to watch, no real reason behind the plots. just sit back and enjoy.
Spy Kids 3: it’s Sword Art Online, but with an author better at worldbuilding and using Chekhov’s Gun, and a lower MPAA.

It definitely gets more silly as it goes on, I don’t remember the third movie as much as the first two, but I have a lot of nostalgia for the second movie. My family got the dvd and I remember looking at the bts bonuses all the time and really loved Juni’s little companion
