Keaton’s Bruce Wayne is the only movie version where I can buy no one in Gotham would suspect he was Batman. Dude just looks like an average Joe, who you wouldn’t even bet on during a bar fight.
And that’s no disrespect to the actor, I think that’s why the role was so perfect for him.
ironically enough, that was also why people hated the idea of him as batman lol.
Keaton just didn’t have the look fans were looking for but that’s not a bad thing. It added to his cover.
People were shocked at the casting choice. Michael Keaton was already respected as an actor and people loved him in Beetlejuice but the response everyone had was "Ehh..I dunno...". The performance proved everyone wrong.
Actually, I think that was part of the reason why Tim Burton chose him for the part.
And the fact he wears glasses... it's supposed to be Clark's thing 😄, but it's brillant (Val Kilmer also played a great "glassed" Bruce)
The armoury collection gives a weird yet possible idea of his travels and training even the different inspirations behind his symbol and the suit all in one room. The brilliance of the Tim Burton's touch! 🍷
It think these are the suits of his enemies that he catched
@Tuấn VFX I often thought that too. 0:55 looks like Firefly
@@daustin8888 Looks more like Ratcatcher(who'd just debuted in the comics@ the time) to me
And also the beyond of stupidness of Tim Burton. How are these 2 invited to Wayne Manor but have no idea how Bruce Wayne looks like!???? THEY ARE FREAKIN REPORTERS!
@@ArachKing I always assumed it was supposed to be the Mad Gasser of Mattoon.
I like how they show Bruce walking behind them instead of showing up randomly.
Shows how stealthy he can be
He was walking by, and looked just as perplexed for a moment as to what they were doing all in a man's business and thought to return the gesture by the way he made his introduction to the situation with that look as he is giving the reason for how he knows the armor was Japanese. Ergo random 😅
It was something that Christian Bale capitalized on. Being a Billionaire Playboy but behind the scenes spying on everyone. He hosted that party only to get a scope on what politicians were saying Brilliant.
If this doesn't scream the brilliant complexities of Bruce Wayne trying to be "normal" and be Batman portrayed by Michael Keaton in 3 minutes I don't know what does
The only problem with keatons batman is that he isn't the focus of the movie. Batman Returns gives him more to do
He was the best! Although Kilmer and Clooney were good and I think Ben Afleck was ok, Keaton was the best!
so damn true ! Michael Keaton really nailed it !!
I always laugh when people say Keaton was a great Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne, there was always this myth going around, and they use Bale as a comparison to show how Wayne should be and act.
Keaton was THE best Batman, and possibly THE best Bruce Wayne! His subtle brilliance just went over too many people's heads.
He definitely nailed both Bruce Wayne and Batman
Kim Basinger looks gorgeous here in this scene
I know and when she was Holli Would in Cool World (1992)
She was hot back in the day
@@Shadow_Dude829 Just know that b rabbit dad is really Batman

Is it Bay-singer or Bass-injure?
Kind of surprising that neither Vicki nor Knox know what Bruce Wayne looks like.
An elusive and private billionaire before the Internet was a thing. I'm not surprised.
back when google images wasnt a thing
Vicki also happens to not be from Gotham in this particular story, and she presumably left soon after the events of this movie.
He's a very private man who probably likes to walk the streets of Gotham without being recognised.
This bruce wayne is not the billionaire playboy facade, he’s just a reclusive introvert billionaire.
While Kim Basinger has blonde hair, Vicki Vale was a redhead in the comics. According to Batman creator Bob Kane, Vale was supposed to be blonde in the comics, and her hair came out red due to a coloring error in her first appearance. Ironically, Kim Basinger would later sport red hair in Even Money (2006).
And in Batman Arkham video games Vicki Vale has the blonde hair. Tho most likely based on Basinger's portrayal.
When Alfred sais "Comissioner Gordon was compelled to leave" so elegantly.. love that scene

It IS the best Batman film. This and the sequel are perfect.
They set the standard and stage for all that followed. Keaton is my favorite Batman. Always has been.
No, it’s the best batman film in your eyes. Opinions are a thing.
This is the best batman film, Batman returns is a no from me though.
One of my favorite moment in this scene is when Bruce is about to leave he tells Alfred to give Nox a grand after he previously joked about wanting to have a loan of cash.
A grant. Not a grand.
30 years later and this is still the best Batman movie ever
Nice joke lol
I prefer The Dark Night Trilogy
Nah, not as good as The Dark Knight or Batman Begins. This is still a great movie, but it doesnt capture the essence of Bruce Wayne as much as those movies.
@@DawnBreaker-qg7fc remember the time you BROKE YOUR BACK

Michael Keaton was awesome as Batman and so is Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
For me, Michael Keaton is the best Bruce Wayne
It's hard to choose Christian Bale or Michael Keaton for the best Batman but Keaton is the better Bruce Wayne. Ben Affleck is not that bad either for both role
Yeah he is, kilmer was least cringe of the others and that's saying something imo
@@Smile-hk7vd Affleck looks ridiculous as Batman with his huge head, no neck, small eyes and small mouth, he is just not a Batman.. Also it was cringe how hard he tried to be serious. Bale was good Bruce Wayne - the dark, psycho characters are close to him -, but his Batman would have been better if he had not talked at all, also he just did not have that cold stare and badass chin-mouth combo for the batmask like Keaton had. I was also not a big fan of his superninja suit.. Val Kilmer was the second closest to Keaton's performance in my opinion, and it was a bit crappy movie, especially after the first two. However I liked Keaton's bit foolish Wayne character.

@@whateveryaw8109 Yes
Keaton is a phenomenal actor, where he succeded is in the awkwardness of bruce trying to act like a normal person
Let us put it this way. He is the best live action Batman and Bruce Wayne. However, I prefer the Nolan Batman series though because I grew up with the Nolan Batman series. I was not even born during the first Michael Keaton Batman film and was a baby when Batman Returns came out.
I love that Vicki is always in white. She's like the bride of Gotham.
I think it's more to represent how opposite is her personality to Bruce/Batman and why he is attracted to her also because of this. And it was also pretty amazing to see that in this first movie Batman is attracted towards light and in the second, towards darkness (Catwoman). I think is genius to think a character like that.
@@marisolsv11 Sure but don't forget Tim Burton loves brides.. :D
La_Trolette I would have said princess in Vicki's case (Cinderella specifically with all the shoes she loses). But she does look bridal as well.
"The Rich... you know why they're so odd ? Because they can afford to be...🙄" Love this line 😆

Having all these artifacts shows Bruce traveled the world training to be the Bat-Man, Japan, South America etc
Yeah, and the armoury collection gives a weird yet possible idea of his travels and training even the different inspirations behind his symbol and the suit all in one room. The brilliance of the Tim Burton's touch! 🍷
I love it. Even though Bruce is essentially a privileged white man, he honored all those great warriors and cultures in his home and didn't forget his training. A guy like Knox could never relate to nor understand that and just wrote it off as "odd."
I specifically thought of this scene and looked it up on RUclips and here it is! I was always fascinated with this scene because it gave off a mysterious atmosphere and let people know that Bruce Wayne was a unique individual who had a distinct taste.
Epic movie and the 4K looks amazing.
In some scenes like this it looks great but in a lot of other scenes, especially ones at night, they overdo the blue tint. Plus they add a bunch of extra sound effects that stick out and aren't mixed well at all.
Her dress is epic!!! The best dress i´ve ever seen in a movie of superheroes.
Sissi style.
“He must’ve been... king of the wicker-people.” XD
I'm guessing it's a reference to "The Wicker Man".
Came back here thanks to my coding class in college - the irony is not lost on me.
Actress Kim Basinger is one of my Batman babe film crushes from the early Batman films along with Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman too.
"You know why they're so odd? Because they can afford to be."
So true of rich people.
My favorite Batman movie is TDK, but I think my favorite Bruce Wayne is Micheal Keaton. Like just how he's very charming yet there's something a little eccentric about him. Just a wonderful nuanced performance from Keaton
Kim Basinger was such a stunner here.
Does anyone else think Vicky Vale has decided to wear a wedding gown to the charity event?
Yeah she wore a wedding dress going up church tower too
@@rayc9410 I DONT KNOW BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A GOWN
@@Banaani9567-u4u Maybe looking for a husband that night
Kim Basinger was a very fine looking lady in her prime. The dress and her makeup/hair is really on point. Very classy.
Keaton is the GOAT!
Agreed. He is the best live action Batman and Bruce Wayne. Kevin Conroy is the best Batman voice. Christian Bale is second best Batman and Bruce Wayne but has the best Batman series. But the Michael Keaton Batman series is pretty good too and is probably the closest to the Batman comics in terms of source material.
One of the weirdest things about this movie is that Alexander Knox and Vicki Vale have way more on-screen chemistry in their scenes together than Vale and Wayne do.
Yeah, but Knox was friend zoned. As for Wayne, being wealthy (plus mysterious) is a huge aphrodisiac for women.
You don't know what chemistry is if you think Knox and Vale had chemistry 💀🤦

@@markpatjoebilldinousar1111 I agree with you.
@@markpatjoebilldinousar1111 they had great banter
She just enjoyed his friendship, and nothing more. I've been there. It can be tough.
Keaton's Bruce Wayne shows how socially awkward he is, which is believable for an early Batman who doesn't know how to socially camouflage himself yet.
Excellent point.
Good point. He is probably in his second or third year as Batman, and he hasn't made allies yet with the police and people still think he's a myth, so he probably never had to worry too much about acting "normal" in the public eye
Why was Keaton so good as Batman?
Because he was the best Bruce Wayne. Thats why!
If I had to rank best live action Batman: Michael Keaton is #1. Christian Bale would be a close second but his Batman voice sounded like he has throat cancer (especially the second and third Nolan films). Best Batman voice actor is Kevin Conroy.
Vicki Vale has really nice lips and facial structure. Stunning.
Bruce: "Oh, I read your work, I like it. I like it a lot."

this batman is probably the best ever
the casting, the production, the actors

Kim Basinger. Wonderful!
There are so many little touches to this scene. The fact that Bruce collects the armor of various knights as he is The Dark Knight and the hint that he lived and studied combat in Japan.
Man i like this version of bruce wayne, and yes the christian bale version is a more realistic and accurate bruce Wayne, been more of and act, only been his true self when he wears the mask, but this version, i like a lot how keaton made a very good job showing not the prince of gotham and ladies man but a rich introvert guy who is trying to be "normal" and been a weird guy, which makes sense he is a guy who thinks is true self is when he wears a bat mask
I found this version of Batman slightly more believable than some of the others because he's less an acrobat/martial artist and more of a body armor, tank, riot control type of hero. Which a normal person could more realistically be if they had the money and the obsession.
I feel like Tim Burton's Batman was very different from the other movies he directed many years later. And my God! Kim Basinger was absolutely stunning! 🤩
Kim Basinger looked hot in this movie.
Damn. Forgot how beautiful Kim Basinger was in this movie.
I like how neither of them know what the billionaire that owns the house they're in looks like..
Of all of Batman/Bruce Wayne's ladies, Vicki Vale was the loveliest.
Notice how this movie took its time?
We have scenes like this which aren't rushed along, just to build the world.
Also as a kid I had no idea how awesome this scene was - with Knox just playing along "yeah, 6 is good" lol
Before vale became Mrs Robinson in fifty shades darker
Batman, MY FAVORITE!! 🤩⚡🌟💯

I always come back to this Batman when i wanna see Batman its th Og for me.
I wonder who would get picked to play (Vicki Vale) in a live-action BATMAN show series for this era?
After all these years that ive watched this movie over and over again i just barely realized that in this scene those armour statutes depict bruce wayne traveling the world and studying all the martial arts of differents continents as he was getting ready to become batman. He bought all those armous statues to honor and remember those different cultures to show them his appreciation and never forget his traning...
As also referencing the comic since in the comic bruce wayne is known to study all the martial arts of the world.
At least thats how i figured it
But i could be wrong.
I think this is actually a really underrated scene. Robert Wuhl was a bit of an underrated actor and he brought a lot to this scene and movie in his brief role, IMO.
I will have my billions just like Bruce Wayne.
It is my destiny.
That’s nice of Bruce to give Knox an Grant
When Knox jokingly asks Bruce if he can have a grant.
Then Bruce tells Alfred to give Knox a grant.
What does he mean?
What is a “grant?”
A grant is like a donation for a specific purpose; presumably in Knox's case it'd go toward his journalism work. So Knox was basically joking, "Can I have some money (since you're rich and all)?" and after a bit Bruce just ups and says, "Sure thing, here's some money."
@@lizardmanYTMND I wonder how much Bruce gave Knox since Bruce didn’t specify how much the grant was for.
Thank you for the explanation sir.

There's just so many fantastic layers in this scene.
As watching batman as a kid viki vale was so easy to forget yes she's not a main character but she's been in so much batman related things such as TV series, movies, and games
She pretty much is the main character- she has more screen time than Batman
I always thought she was one of the three main characters.
I’ve always thought it a huge plot hole that neither Alexander Knox (local journalist) and Vicki Vale (famous photographer) know what BRUCE WAYNE looks like.

Keaton's Bruce Wayne persona feels more like a working man or a professional manager, rather than a billionaire playboy. The latter kind of persona only begin to take off with Kilmer.
