    That is such an important advice. A few days ago, I was disappointed because of how weak my MA was, so I searched for answers and got this "level up as a mage, so you can play as a MA at level 200". I was about to drop the vocation, but then I found a video that you said something like: "play whatever you want to play, just grab some good weapons and you good to go". That's what I did, now I'm playing my MA and killing everything that moves on BBI. Thanks for the tips, buddy. Cheers from Brazil! ❤

    The damage calculation in Dragon's Dogma is flawed, which is why people prefer Min/Max.
    Instead of using percentage values for damage on enemies, fixed amounts are used, similar to how it's done in MMORPGs.
    For example:
    100 attack vs 100 defense = minimal possible ingame dmg.
    100 attack vs. 50 defense = 50 damage dealt
    150 attack vs. 50 defense = 100 damage dealt
    In this case, only a 50% increase in attack results in a 100% increase in damage, which is why people opt for Min/Max.
    If you bypass enemy armor, all the atack after that becomes direct damage, and if you dont, all your atack are useless.
    In this game you re often too strong or too weak for the enemies.
    Love the game, butt that sucks.

    i always do 190 lvs as sorc for myself because I genuinely like playing as sorc and then the reward at the end is a bonkers magick archer, with 3500 stamina and 3048 hp i can still play any class (not that i will i dont like ranger or strider). My pawn is an omni pawn with 448str 657mg 3500hp 4500st she can play any role.

    I know this video says min-maxing isn't needed but I still wish to get advice on my Pawn leveling as a casual player.
    My Pawn started as a Fighter and is currently a Warrior since lv.10 for maximum attack growth.
    At the very, very end, I want her to be a Ranger and apparently from lv.100 onwards, Ranger gains identical stat growth as a Warrior with the exception of 1 less in Defense in exchange to 1 stat in Magick Defense.
    My question is, should I keep my Pawn as a Warrior until lv.200 or should I switch to Ranger at lv.100 and ultimately lose 100 base Defense in exchange for 100 M.Def?
    I will NOT having the best possible armor for her because l value aesthetics too much so I will purposely handicap both my Arisen and Pawn for this purpose. Is 100 extra in Defense more worth it than 100 extra in M.Def in this scenario?

    • @dugarrYT
      @dugarrYT  5 месяцев назад

      the most important stat for a Ranger is Stamina. Def not so much, because a Ranger stays behind and fires arrows. So i would say switch to Ranger.

    So if I were to basically try to fully rank up every vocation at the start of the game for their augments and then just spend the rest of the game as my prefered vocation (a Mystic Knight in my personal case), so long as I equip the right augments for my playstyle and rank up my gear, I'll still be able to handle endgame content like BBI?
    A simple "yes" or "no" is perfectly fine, just want to know for sure because I kinda don't have much patience for this leveling stuff

  • @sonicblah96

    • @dugarrYT
      @dugarrYT  Год назад +2

      you can compensate everything with augments later on, don't worry

  • @Hugealligator254
    @Hugealligator254 7 месяцев назад +1

    Pro tip, if you switch to sorcerer from say, fighter, you might feel a bit weak for a while but this is only because you don’t know the details that playing 20 hours of a class will give you, for example everyone knows dragons maw is very good, but if you hadn’t touched sorcerer you’d have no idea if bolide is any good (it kinda isn’t since it launches 10 projectiles with only two being guaranteed to hit). So commit to whatever you try by learning what attacks feel like they actually hurt the enemy before just giving up and saying “class bad”

  • @genghischron4084
    @genghischron4084 Год назад

    At least assassin and sorcerer are both very fun/good vocations but if you don't enjoy them level as whatever you want. I did a few levels on warrior to a bit more health defense and augmentations.

  • @RaidenKaiser
    @RaidenKaiser Год назад +2

    I don't think min maxing is required but I do suggest starting with a build in mind still. Like if you want to to do strength weapons you should start with assassin up to like you finish your first playthrough just to get comfortable damage then move to whatever is most fun for you. Magic is a bit harder to cope with cuz of its stamina consumption I suggest doing strider up to level 30 then doing sorcerer up to level 60-70 after that it it doesn't matter.

    • @dugarrYT
      @dugarrYT  Год назад +2

      if you are new to the game you don't know how the vocations work, so its difficult to make a plan beforehand. later on, absolutely do!

  • @Kavsaerin

    I'd call this Max/Minning

  • @RaidenKaiser
    @RaidenKaiser Год назад +2

    Basically what I was trying to say is leveling with a build in mind helps make the game much easier for the base game because gear options are kinda terrible until you beat grigori so level efficiency matters then if you lack the patience like I do. But yeah in the long run min maxing is pointless.

    • @RaidenKaiser
      @RaidenKaiser 9 месяцев назад

      @NotchaBizness I said easier I never said you couldn't beat it. And it only makes it easier while your gear options is ass like basically any weapon pre grigori.

  • @DieKao

    Or just use a mod that fixes MA stat gains and have balanced stats as if you did the whole sorcerer/assassin carefully planned leveling route.

    I feel min maxing does make a difference. I'm mean to me the difference between 500 health of the top two highest health growth is pretty important.

    • @dugarrYT
      @dugarrYT  Год назад +3

      not important enough that you play 100+ lvl as a vocation you don't like. you get so much dmg resistance on high lvl armor that 500hp is more or less nothing.

    • @leonardodelpuertoburk2439
      @leonardodelpuertoburk2439 Год назад +2

      He says that it should not be attempted by someone who is new to the game. I, for example, bought the game a couple of weeks ago, and discovered how leveling stats was linked to the vocation you play. I started to stress because I thought I messed up, but videos like this one really helped me. But yeah, on your third playthrough, when you knwo almost everything about the game, go for it, it must be really fun when you know what you're doing.

      yes. gear takes care of everything. and you can still max out vocations after lvl200 to get there augments.
