I very hope we will see your reaction on a next Metallica's album. It feels like we became friends )) I watched your reaction on Hardwired seven years ago. And now we are here again watching your videos. Thank you!
11 mins shouldn't have worked. You know how hard it is to make a song more than 6 mins long stay engaging, much less 11? Hell, there's not that many change ups in the song either. It's a constant tempo. Yet somehow, Metallica finds a way to make it work and stick the landing. I didn't think they had it in them this late in the game to write songs like this one, but boy I'm glad I was wrong about that.
That seems to be the general consensus. The Black Sabbath, Down vibes Fixxxed up with My friend of Misery and Outlaw Torn take you on a journey that seems shorter than the shorter songs on the album itself. It sounds at ease with itself, allowing the huge monolith riff to spread out and out. I only wish that the Hi Hat wasnt obstructing the otherwise well welcomed chilled out woozy interlude. It absolutely does not belong there! But thats only a minor thing. Its a huge track that deserves the good praise.
When James said "ITS NOT WHAT IM LIVING" after the repeated no part made me sob like a little girl bc you can hear the hurt in his voice and everyone can relate. Long live the Metallica boys
Ya man. This song made me cry first listen also. And I know numerous other people personally who had the same experience. I think it just had elements we not only waited the entire album hoping for but 30 years for!
Yeah brother, you're not alone, I fucking cry like an infant every time it gets to that part. If I listen to it in public I usually distract myself when that part is coming, cause it's super weird for a grown man to start sobing on the bus
Why this song brings tears to my eyes and peoples eyes ? Because is pure honest and shows a vulnerability. At the same time a deep need and wanting to move on against odds and become the best of us ... No matter our wounds. James Papa Het is my favourite storyteller songwriter and this band is my emotional stability
That scream “It’s not what I’m living for!” I had tears there. We all can relate in some way or another - if we are honest. All hail Metallica. Get some.
Yes it is one big mix of those great songs. Highly emotional . Another beast of a song. great album, Inamorata is clearly the best song and the others are amazing in their own way.
This one, too far gone, room of mirrors, lux aeterna, 72 seasons, you must burn, is the best songs in this album in my opinion! just simply absolutely fantastic!
I feel like 72 has more emotion and passion from James than hardwired, which i felt like was missing from their previous album. tbh this is the most emotional album ive heard from metallica vocally speaking.
@@gavinduvall03 I believe so, too. If you watched the premiere in the theaters, James' intro explanation to "Room Of Mirrors" hit me. You could tell that (even at this time) he's still vulnerable struggling with himself, and he fleshed it all out in this record. And you can't help but sympathize (for lack of a better term) with him.
@@chiefflash15 absolutely man Inamorata and Room of Mirrors are my two favorites just from lyrics alone they’re fantastic and emotional. and even in a sense i can relate too i love it!
This song is really attached to me its written beautiful, played beautiful, sung beautiful, i get emotional everytime listening to it and can feel and hear james being emotional during this, this song will always be no.1 best of this album.
In the slow part that he said "she needs me, but i need her more" and the way he said it with that vocal melody... I mean I never felt that way in a long time man. Chills through my entire body.
James' solo after the slow interlude is perfect. sounds like My Friend of Misery and its so raw and emotional in my opinion. This song is a masterpiece to me. Also, I appreciate you taking time out of your days to give us these reactions. Always genuine.
Agreed, the moment I heard that last solo I immediately knew it was James, the way he uses that wah is very similar to the playing he did for the Ecstacy of Gold cover. I enjoy James' solos over Kirk for their rarity, and quality.
This song has call backs to some of the best parts of songs throughout Metallica's catalog. I heard some of My friend of misery and Halo on Fire to list two. Overall I would say its the most enjoyable 11 minutes I ever had listening to a song. It literally felt like 5 minutes. Great Job overall to all the members involved. Top tier closing track.
I also hear Orion and Outlaw Torn in there. This song really is like the best of everything they've ever done^^ I just noticed some Fixxxer in there as well, jesus xD
The greatest achievement of an 11 minute song is when it doesnt feel anywhere close to 11 minutes when you listen to it. I love this song. I must admit when I saw 11 minute run time i was a bit worried. What they have achieved here is nothing short of impressive. Great album ender for sure.
I love Robert, I honestly credit him for helping save Metallica after their lowest point in their career during the St. Anger era (I loved St. Anger btw). I think Rob helping encourage them to return to their roots from Death Magnetic forward, I remember hearing that he's responsible for Metallica playing songs live that they haven't played in years like "Call Of Cthulu". Rob is just a down to earth dude, such a loveable personality and he's a freaking beast on the bass! My love for Metallica will never die!
My top picks are: 1-room of mirrors 2-too far gone 3-inamorata 4-shadows follow 5-72 seasons 6-chasing light 7-lux aeterna 8- screaming suicide IMO if an album has this number of great songs in it it definitely can be considered as a great album My metallica fellas let’s call this “the yellow album”
After listening to the album many I times I think I can officially say this is my favorite new song. James’ vocal performance is amazing and I legit got goosebumps when he yelled “not why I’m living!” coming out of the interlude because that sounded so much like younger James
This legit is one of the best songs theyve done. Fixxxer, Outlaw Torn, and this are just in a league of their own. Too far gone might still beat it for me on this album, but for an 11 minute song it feels more like a 7 minute song max, and is a groove.
It's very beautiful, emotional, hands down. I can see that you feel it and you are a really good person. They are the Kings in music. And thanks for the reactions! Long live Metallica 💛
On HTSD it ended with Spit Out The Bone, and 72 Seasons track continued right there (similar style, riff, etc). And now album ended with Inamorata, it really feels like some new chapter starting... Cannot explain the feel of the song, so many emotions in it, journey.
This seriously has a My Friend Of Misery vibe to it, especially with the way he says misery, and then "misery, love's company", straight outta the song I mentioned. It sounds like a lot like a lot of other songs too.
This songs means a lot to me. I'm a youngin, being 28 years old. I first heard Metallica during their Load and Reload era, so that was the sound I connected to before I even knew about their first 5 albums. Not knowing about the controversy regarding their Load era, I absolutely fell in love with the sound. Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn blew me away. I never thought I'd be able to hear a new song from Metallica that sounded remotely close to those, and I am so damn happy I was wrong! People will hate this song, but I'm not one of them. Not even close!
I saw you were enjoying it! It was a whole another level of journey, completely. Mesmerizing, cosmic, emotional and lyrical phenomenon. This album is banger, crazy job was done. Godly voice from James, the riffs.. Kirk was on point, Rob rocked it, Lars was feeling it! I’m watching you already for years and I really enjoy your reactions, on point and genuine. Glad you’re taking your time on doing it to really feel it. Thank you too for this beautiful journey!
I was there with ya reacting to Hardwired to Self Destruct years ago, now here again on another Metallica journey many years later. Been awesome watching these videos, here's to another Metallica album!
There's something weird about this album, at the beginning i thought that it was so simple/boring , but after every listening i can say that apart of spit out the bone, this is better than HTSD.
Dude I was smiling so big when that middle section came up and you were getting into it. This is my favorite song along with too far gone. I don’t get why people hate on songs that are “too long”. I know music is subjective but I view music differently than I did when I was younger. I like the journey a song takes you on and if it’s a good trip by all means let’s take our time.
There are a few callbacks i picked up on: - Definitely has the Fixxxer vibe overall. - The middle harmonizing part after the soft vocals by James is very reminiscent of the My Friend of Misery harmony part. - The ending had the same feel as the Halo on Fire outro, I just wished it would have ended like Fade to Black or Outlaw Torn and kept the solo going as the track faded out.
Just a masterpiece, I would never want it to end . I feel like they could go again… but definitely I was hooping for something like that , and they didn’t disappoint!!!
James's performance is stellar on this album. He seems renewed although I know he's been going through alot. This song is up there with the greats and represents the culmination of almost 40 yrs of the maturation of metallica
Doesn't have to be labeled a masterpiece, for me, it's a beautiful experience. I'm a fan from the beginning in 1983, they're simply the best band, period. What a phenomenal album.
It's pretty awesome that 41 years into their careers, the guys are still delivering absolutely perfect, grand-slam masterpieces. IMO, this is an absolutely amazing song and on the level of stuff like Fade, Puppets, Unforgiven, Outlaw etc. This is also possibly James' greatest in-studio vocal performance ever. His singing during that breakdown before the harmonies is so beautifully soulful and bluesy, absolutely gorgeous stuff. The riffs are heavy and catchy, but also bluesy and melodic when needed. Rob's bass is on point throughout. In terms of solos, this is easily Kirk's best work on the album. And the lyrics are some of James' most deeply personal, resonant and personal ever.
Depends on the moment and how you are listening to it but this album is their best since black album. If we go point by point with the intention of highlighting each by the age and overall what the album offers and this is another level. A well balanced album. Death magnetic and HTSD have special points but to me this is a Masterpiece
I feel exactly the same as this, I explained it myself like HWTSD has higher peaks in spit out the bone but this album feels really consistent through and through.
I think overall, DM and HTSD are probably better albums but Inamorata is the best Metallica song in 15 years. IMO, the only 21st century song that matches it is Unforgiven 3.
There is so many songs in there. Is it Loverman voice in the slow part, unforgiving 3 build up to a Orion type part. Then it ends with a halo on fire with a call of Kutulu finish.
Have been obsessed with this song and it's a instant masterpiece stunning riffs, boasting bass, phenomenal chords, and guitar solos, powerful drums and a masterful set of vocals that bring the emotion of the song straight into your soul. Phenomenal and amazing!!! Truly Metallica!! First time I heard it i honestly felt like it was about the pain Metallica felt when Cliff Burton tragically left , have probably listened to it a hundred times now, and still feel the same way.
The guitar tone is also incredible. The way it resonates with the bass, they f*cking nailed it this time. Edit: Just as an example the riff at 12:07... perfection
I think this song is like a hash of their career up to this point. Details from each era is being presented in the album, and in this song specifically. The fast solos like the 80s, the groove from the 90s, bits and sections from DM and halo on fire.
Thanks for doing the whole album man, loved the journey! This album surprised me. I knew I would like it, Metallica has been my favorite band for over 20 years, but I’m genuinely surprised by how much I like it. Inamorata as the closer is perfect, and certainly has instantly earned its spot as a Metallica classic.
This song is the Estranged of Metallica. I drive a truck for a living so I’ve listened to this album at least 50 times straight through by now and it keeps getting better.
this song gives me major my friend of misery, and also to live is to die vibes. i know to live is to die is an instrumental but man this song hits me the same way. what a fantastic way to close this album out.
This one caught me off guard. I was hoping for another Spit out the Bone thrash, or even an instrumental. But then once I heard the Load-like riffs, I'm thinking Outlaw Torn? Fixxxer? And that's what we got! Absolutely beautiful song!
This song brought me to tears when I heard it on the global premier in theaters. How beautiful, heavy and complete this song is. Seeing how old metallica is. If I were to die tomorrow I would die a happy man knowing this was the last song I heard from metallica. Absolutely loved this album. And this song is 10x better than fixxxer 😊. Great review
There's a lot of people I've been following since the Hardwired days, who decided to skip out on this record cycle and just listen to the album on their own time, which I understand of course, but it was still a bit of a bummer, personally. That being said, I couldn't be happier you shared your journey with us twice. I still go back and watch your Hardwired reactions, to relive that excitement of the 1st listen, and now I'll have these as well. Thank you for that, it's a gift to us all.
I'm a fan since the 80s and this is the best James has ever sounded and inamorata is in my top 5 favorite songs by them. This album is so fantastic. Best since black album by far
First of your videos I’ve seen. For me, you nailed it with the word groove and that’s what I’ve been telling folks. It took me a minute, but I picked up on the deep groove that permeates the whole album IMHO and was immediately in from that point. Seek out the groove dear listeners! 🤘🏼
Same here man from the first time I listened to it, it captured me with the groove of it, Really insane closure. It sounded like “alright boys, see you after six years” and yes I agree with you, I teared at the very end.
Ur reaction was so similar to mine first time I heard it..was in a state of euphoria and shangri-la..stood out immediately as the jewel of this album & one of the best Tallica songs last 25 years in my opinion
if it was for whatever reason, i wouldn't be disappointed at all its super emotional and its like a combination of a few past songs, and it feels like a last song like a last hoorah for metallica. but i really hope not tho i need another album w this kinda style im living for it
This has been a wonderful journey, not just with you, but with the Metallica family. No matter where we are in this world we can connect over Metallica. I’m grateful for that and all of the wonderful people I’ve found because of their music.
i could see metallica doing an entire album of this style. with all the heavier music they've put out the last couple albums id actually like to see them change it up if they do make another record. i feel like the time is right for them to step back and explore some other musical soundscapes
They have been doing that and that hasn’t been too good for them. If they weren’t Metallica their last 5 releases would be considered dog shit. I do like this album a little more that hardwired though

@@titomannasah8149 those first 3 have really grown on me also. I enjoy the entire album where as Hardwired had a bunch of meh songs for me. The good ones are amazing, like you mentioned but some weak ones too.
When I listen to this in the Theatre. I was looking forward to this song. This honestly feels like “My Friend Of Misery” in an unique way. Because, it’s about his misery. It’s has this ‘Bleeding Me,’ ‘The Outlaw Torn,’ ‘My Friend Of Misery,’ ‘Fixxxer,’ and to mention of “My Friend Of Misery” feel to it. Maybe this is the “My Friend Of Misery 2” as the jam
By the 2nd listen I was hooked & captivated. I see your parallels with Orion (and outlaw torn etc) and inamorata grew on me quicker than Orion. It could be an instrumental but a lyrical one!? This will quickly become a Metallica masterpiece..like Orion 🤘🔥

There are a few callbacks i picked up on:
- Definitely has the Fixxxer vibe overall.
Yeah, I wish Halo faded out, and this as well. Frustrating they don't do fadeouts any more.
No fade ins or outs anymore is so lame.
Also bleeding me.
Just a masterpiece, I would never want it to end . I feel like they could go again… but definitely I was hooping for something like that , and they didn’t disappoint!!!
11 minutes and I don't want it to end either 😢❤
James's performance is stellar on this album. He seems renewed although I know he's been going through alot. This song is up there with the greats and represents the culmination of almost 40 yrs of the maturation of metallica
This song makes me really emotional, I was tearing up when James was softly singing and then the harmony comes.
Doesn't have to be labeled a masterpiece, for me, it's a beautiful experience. I'm a fan from the beginning in 1983, they're simply the best band, period. What a phenomenal album.
Cada uno le da el título que sienta en su interior
What an absolute masterpiece! So many nostalgic elements in this one. Emotional stuff!
Excellent reaction, man!
Metallica Rules 🤟🏻
Metallica Forever!
Load is miles ahead of this album. DM is better than this.
still a solid 6.5/10
16:50 "A lot of songs are my favorite songs" Well, that sums it up spot on! Metallica is 1 masterpiece band!
There is so many songs in there. Is it Loverman voice in the slow part, unforgiving 3 build up to a Orion type part. Then it ends with a halo on fire with a call of Kutulu finish.
Now weve all heard it many times, its one of my fave songs of all time brother's
Orion meets My friend of misery. Very stoner rock vibe on this one.
And definitely Outlaw torn or Fixxxer kinda ending of the album. Good point.
If this song was 20 minutes long. I wouldn’t mind that at all. I love “72 Seasons” great job guys!!
The guitar tone is also incredible. The way it resonates with the bass, they f*cking nailed it this time. Edit: Just as an example the riff at 12:07... perfection
Rob's little solo groove in the middle of the song gives me goosebumps every time. Love it. Can't wait to see this live.
Only a band 40 years in to their career can produce a song like this.
Masterpiece of another universe!! MetallicA GODS!!
I had goosebumps all the way through on my first listen
Same, this song makes me well up with emotions. Not even just from the lyrics, but the music itself is an emotional journey!
This song has a total Load era vibe.
Also, we can confirm it at 7:24, that scream was incredible, James rejuvenated even that era.
What a amazing track. 72 seasons grows on me. Great, great stuff.
this song gives me major my friend of misery, and also to live is to die vibes. i know to live is to die is an instrumental but man this song hits me the same way. what a fantastic way to close this album out.
What’s also underrated in terms of harmonies are the vocal harmonies.
James is pure fire in this song!
This one caught me off guard. I was hoping for another Spit out the Bone thrash, or even an instrumental. But then once I heard the Load-like riffs, I'm thinking Outlaw Torn? Fixxxer? And that's what we got! Absolutely beautiful song!
It's got the emotional feels like bleeding me as well.
No problem! If it’s something I am really passionate about, I want to share that with anyone who wants to see it.
I'm a fan since the 80s and this is the best James has ever sounded and inamorata is in my top 5 favorite songs by them. This album is so fantastic. Best since black album by far
Love that the solo is not over-wah'd!
I love the new album and this song is a perfect end for a really good album just a masterpiece
First of your videos I’ve seen. For me, you nailed it with the word groove and that’s what I’ve been telling folks. It took me a minute, but I picked up on the deep groove that permeates the whole album IMHO and was immediately in from that point. Seek out the groove dear listeners! 🤘🏼
People say Outlow, Fixxxer, My Friend of Misery and Orion, but there's two songs that no one remember to mention: Loverman and Astronomy.
I definitely can hear the influence of them doing those covers here as well.
And Halo on Fire.
Cool stoner metal tune. This álbum is very sabbath
Yep, very Stoner like Sleep.
This album is just absolutely, emotionally, and lyrically, fantastic! 🤘🏻
Vocally as well. James nailed it. Sheer brilliance!
Yeah 💛
this has become one of my favourite Metallica songs of all time, imo this is their best album since the Black Album
those harmonies are straight up Baroness influenced. i love it.
As much as I love Baroness I say would the inspiration would be the same for both: Thin Lizzy :)
Same here man from the first time I listened to it, it captured me with the groove of it, Really insane closure.
It sounded like “alright boys, see you after six years” and yes I agree with you, I teared at the very end.
Monster Song.
My superfavorite of 72 seaasons..but..I mean...one of the best song of whole Metallica's production....
Really passionate song and a Sabbath tribute to cap off a fantastic album. God Bless Metallica!
Ur reaction was so similar to mine first time I heard it..was in a state of euphoria and shangri-la..stood out immediately as the jewel of this album & one of the best Tallica songs last 25 years in my opinion
After almost a year, I am still enjoying these like the first time. What a song!!
This could be the last Metallica song
I hope not.
if it was for whatever reason, i wouldn't be disappointed at all its super emotional and its like a combination of a few past songs, and it feels like a last song like a last hoorah for metallica. but i really hope not tho i need another album w this kinda style im living for it
@@gavinduvall03 yea If this is the last song not a bad way to go out but I really hope I am wrong
The last part of this song felt like a goodbye for me and now i cant stop thinking that it was their last dance.
I think it is
Great reaction man! I love this song and I honestly think this is their best piece of music since the black album.
This has been a wonderful journey, not just with you, but with the Metallica family. No matter where we are in this world we can connect over Metallica. I’m grateful for that and all of the wonderful people I’ve found because of their music.
Best song on the album for me and it's not close. I could listen to the section from 9:50 to 11:20 in this video on a loop and not get tired of it.
i could see metallica doing an entire album of this style. with all the heavier music they've put out the last couple albums id actually like to see them change it up if they do make another record. i feel like the time is right for them to step back and explore some other musical soundscapes
They have been doing that and that hasn’t been too good for them. If they weren’t Metallica their last 5 releases would be considered dog shit. I do like this album a little more that hardwired though
@@jakew2350 outside of st anger it actually went fine for them except for luddites like you

@@MrPantera123456 I agree I did have it two places down but I listened to it again and spit out the bone, atlas rise, moth to flame and Halo on fire moved it up...but it.could change once I listen to 72 Seasons a few more times. It a kick a$$ album bar the first 3 tracks they put out.
"You Must Burn!" is so good! I wasn't expecting the Black Sabbath sounding riff leading into an Alice in Chains sounding vocal.
@@titomannasah8149 those first 3 have really grown on me also. I enjoy the entire album where as Hardwired had a bunch of meh songs for me. The good ones are amazing, like you mentioned but some weak ones too.
It’s funny how tastes vary so much. My favorite is You Must Burn in my second favorite is if darkness had a son
My friend of misery + fixxxer + outlaw torn = Inamorata
Yep pretty much!
I've been on this journey since Hardwired (the single) got released, and it was a pleasure to me to watch you react to it and share it with us. This is a great album, this is Metallica at their best IMO.
Welcome back! Thanks for watching!
