I love that "To Live is to Die" is number 2, its such a beautiful song and I got everyday listening to it. The story of the instrumental is a masterpiece and shows how lucky we are to go through life one step at a time. Good list my friend.
I was so happy to see Fade to Black as #1, its such a great song, really damn deep, lyrics are so depressing, as well as the riffs and basically anything about this song, but that's why I love it so much, my favorite Metallica songs are definetelly ballads, I just love the meaning, it's what true art is about.

I was suprised someone put Fade To Black at #1. Its also my favorite Metallica song. I fucking love the first and second bridge easily my favorite parts of the song, but the whole song in general is fantastic
Bro, why is Damage Inc. so low. The intro transition into the fast paced metal with even more fast paced vocals is perfect. Not only that, but the bridge riff is just absolutely incredible. The guitar solo is great too.
I always thought trapped under ice and escape almost sound like they could br the same song. I feel like Escape should have been the bridge in trapped under ice or something like that. They are both alright songs but definitely sound like filling to me.
Haha imagine if they were the same song that'd be pretty cool. But yeah Escape is growing on me even after this video it's probably top 10, the song is soooo catchy
I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but if we talking commercial, yes. If we talking music if you genuinely think that you are a newbie to Metallica, listen to AJFA or any 80’s album
I like how the first 100 songs have nothing off of ride the lightning, and justice for all, or master of puppets shows how much of legends these albums are, and
I feel like I am in the minority of liking most of load and reload and that is because some of the songs sound like country and country is the other genre I listen to the most. But I think your opinions are pretty valid good video
i love the notations of your thoughts on all the songs its super interesting regardless if i or others dissagree or not, would LOVE to see one of these for megadeth
Hurts me seeing 72 Seasons (the album) being thrown so low because, yeah I will say, 72 Seasons could be cut shorter, but I personally just love the groove on them. Perfect songs for just the background. Especially when Room of Mirrors just comes on in a playlist, and that HARMONY it has is so SCRUMPTIOUS. Also Ronnie at #97 is criminal. Such a nice groovalicious song, which is what a lot of Load is. I disagree with so much of this, but I can see where you're coming from if for the majority of these you just listened to for the first time. I 100% agree with Fade to Black being #1. I consider their magnum opus, not my favorite, but it's beautiful and pure raw emotion
@@klasrem most of this list I've listened to a multitude, but stuff like their newer stuff or the obviously bad ones I probably wouldn't force myself to listen to further LOLL. Fair enough bro, to each his own that is literally what Escape and Eye of the Beholder are about.
@NewtsGD Eye of the Beholder (the song) is more about media oppression (if im recalling the lyrics correctly) because that whole album is centered around political imbalances or just political issues. I can also see it being seen as the normal phrase itself, though. And I respect your tierlist. I entirely believe it's incredibly hard to rank Metallica because their worst stuff is pretty horrible, while their best stuff is hard to pick and choose. Of course, everyone has their opinions and disagreements. Well made video, valid criticisms. I can understand why most of St. Anger is so low, but it's one of my personal favs. It's definitely one that needs time to grow on you hahah. Great video man
I think what happened is that you listened most of the songs just once, and as many other stuff, you have to let the songs sink in yourself to REALLY appreciate them. I said this taking the bleeding me position as an example, since for me it was pretty boring when I discovered it, but as the time passed, damn, it's just an unforgettable piece. If that's not the case and you did listened every song many times, well, is your own taste and I hope you get to enjoy some of this songs as much as I do :).
Listened to all but Lulu over twice, and given all a fair shot. I do agree that indoctrinating yourself with music will eventually and psychologically change your perspective on a song, but If i truly enjoy a song, I'll almost definitely get it on the first listen where i pay attention. I added a bit of attitude spice to that message just cos i felt like it, hahaha. It's algs bro, thanks for stopping by :)
I personally love sad but true mainly because that was the song that introduced it to Metallica just driving around with my dad after bowling practice and it came on and we both jammed out to it. Good memories
Lux aeterna is actually really good except the awful solo. Although this is a drummer speaking and all it takes for me to be happy is to hear that double kick and the awsome drum mixing from 72 seasons. Also enter sandman is awsome, but it gets tiring listening to everyone playing it as its a beginner song for every instrument.
It is an emotional and life long rollercoaster. It speaks volumes without a single word. An absolute masterpiece. It was actually almost #1 but Fade to Black scooped it up
the fact that Hero Of The Day is top 10 Metallica for me and it didn't even make it into top 100 for you shows how many bangers Metallica has lmao +Eye Of The Beholder at #5 is based af
i quite disagree but we all have our opinions lol. For anyone who likes metal has to like metallica at least a little bit. RIght?? no but srsly you gotta give it to them for consistently publishing albums for the last 30 years. All of them are like in their early to mid 50s. cool vid!

You have the right to give out your opinion and share your taste, my friend. Those stinky little haters gonna hate, and you're gonna be great with your clean, respectable song tierlists :)
I’m quite surprised how subjective people can feel about different things, like music here. Agreed with many of your points, but most of them were totally random for me hahah. I also feel like you automatically like their song more if it’s just from the older album. Not hating though, good video!
I see "automatically liking more if it's old" as simple validation that they moved away from a style which I happened to appreciate more. Sooo... easy to twist a perspective.
I actually would put nothing else matters 1 in my list but it’s a pretty good list in my opinion, for me nothing else matters is the greatest song of all time in general
Sudden realization that Escape hadn’t been mentioned and that it was going to be so high on the list… I hate the song almost as much as James does, so that was a surprise. Interesting list. I have different feelings about a lot of these, and I don’t count Lulu as a Metallica album, but it’s nice to see other opinions and how they hit people. Thanks for sharing.
It's not a Metallica album but it's songs composed by Metallica do I included them. Escape is good. It's unique against the rest of the album and has its own identity.
I have the same top 2 songs and it was solid rankings throughout. Room of Mirrors and The Day That Never Comes are way to low. Btw I've never listened to Lulu, so those rankings would all be at the bottom for me personally, which is probably the way it is for a lot of people
Pretty good list. A few disagreements here and there, but no arguing that Ride, Master and Justice remain overall their best albums. I notice you didn't include anything from their Garage Days and Garage Days Reissue EPs. That because they're all covers? Now how about a Megadeth list.
HAHA I'm 3 albums into my Megadeth video as we speak. Coming soon brother! Yeah Garage Inc and that are all covers so I didn't add them, Lulu only just passed cos it's still technically Metallica original lol.
I mostly agree with the list. To Live Is To Die is one of my favorite songs of all time. Cliff 'Em All 👊👊 And I really love how you edited this video. I didn't agree with all the rankings, but I love how you explained your thoughts on each one instead of just saying 'yeah no likey this'
Haha yeah. It would really piss me off to see To Live is to Die at the bottom of someone's list saying "gross instrumental", but it would piss me off maybe just a little bit less if they said "I didn't like the way it changed, it was too jarring" y'know what I mean? 🤣🤣🤣 TLITD is definitely one of the most underrated if not the most underrated Metallica song
Fade to Blackhas always been my favorite, and probably always will be. For a future listening adventure, I suggest Tool. Pretty interesting band thats my favorite. just something to think about
Don't know about the overall list, but i gotta agree with fade to black, everything is perfect, even Kirk's stuff has amazing tone and feel. The last solo has a lot of weird transitions but they all make sense
Fairly agreeable ranking! VERY happy to see Phantom Lord rated so high, for a first clean section they did very well on it and the scream James gives at the end is unlike anything I've heard from him since. Caught a bit of Death Magnetic love too, which is nice! Although if the version you used in the video is the one you listen to, I IMPLORE you to check out the guitar hero mix because it's SO much better, by such a long shot it's not even funny.
I listened to the highest qualities of each album. MOP for example sounds super muffled on the video but I actually have the official CD and super good car speakers so everything has been given a good chance HAHAH. Thanks bro :) I appreciate the love
@@NewtsGD Nice, good stuff! Finding the best version of Justice can be a chore sometimes, because there are some official releases that _feel_ like they have the bass higher, but I can never be sure :P I just grabbed the remastered version for my offline library in the end, though.
Damage, Inc. is my fav Metallica song, thrashy as hell and a omg solo My first ever metal band i ever listened to and still one of my personal inspirations for my love of music
I've done one for System of a Down, and 2 rock bands, next is gonna be Rage Against the Machine and Deftones. Definitely gonna try do as many bands as I can while I'm getting this many views
Ok, I genuinly whant to know, what do you dislike so much about Prince Charming. Is it just that the mix is different or it's a different genre. That song is one of my favorite metallica songs. Same thing with The House Jack Built. That song has such an atmosphere.
Honestly both just bored me, there's nothing too big about it, they're not the worst but Metallica had a large discography of awesome songs, these just happened to come out around the bottom :(
Pretty much agree with your assesment, mostly. Would swap things here and there of course, particulary some Kill'em all songs for circumstancial reasons more than intrinsic value. I mean, it was their first album, it was huge at the time. But I understand that, from the perspective of a current-day listener, it may not be that good. Personally I think the Black album is highly overated, I was a bit disapointed by it when it released (but, well, coming after AJFA wouldn't have been an easy task anyway). Didn't like Load & Reload, felt like they lacked personnality, and was completely horrified by St Anger. I stopped following what they were doing from this point on, checking from time to time but never hearing anything of interest from them, to me it was really a disgrace. Never heard Lulu, only ever heard bad things about it, and the few bits of songs I've heard sound really abysmal, I don't even want to listen to it. I definitively have a hard time coping with the fact that one of my most loved bands could produce such garbage. A disgrace, really.
a lulu song making it to spot 82 is just nuts also i will not understand the hate for if darkness had a son, it's got a good riff and the "temptation"s are a strong point, though it might be a little repetitive
despite disagreeing with this HEAVILY, and being especially taken aback when you said that "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct" was one of the most widely hated albums, I still respect you for having the nuts to post something like this online, and it's really interesting seeing someone else's views on one of my favorite metal bands of all time, considering I'm not too heavily involved in the community and such. Also, I feel like it was a bit of a stretch to say that Metallica started focusing on riffs on AJFA, since they've been mostly riff focused for the band's whole life. It is also very sad that people would say offensive things to you simply because they didn't agree with your taste in music. Why can't we just all accept the fact that we like Metallica? It's very childish to say the least, and you should just try your best to ignore them because they CLEARLY do not know what they're talking about. also PLEASE do Damage Inc. some justice 😭🙏
I've just noticed that AJFA maintained the same riff more over the period of a song, which isn't as usual as their earlier albums. Thanks for watching hro
Agreed on DM. I remember when I got my physical copy of Death Magnetic (it had leaked a few days earlier) and the young woman at the register went out of her way to tell me it was bad… if I liked their old stuff, I would hate it. “No offense, but I’ve been hearing that about every single Metallica album I’ve bought since before you were born.” I remember the guy at work who told me that Master of Puppets wasn’t as good as RTL. These things take a while to marinate, and the DM production leaves something to be desired, but I’ve always loved the songs. I still wonder about an employee at a music store who isn’t played by Jack Black sharing that particular unsolicited opinion.
@@NewtsGD No ones insulted you buddy your list is just Funny ahaha. You said songs off Reload and St Anger were bad but continued to put them Over actual Slammers you didn't seem to mind. Emotional rollercoasters wooo!!!!
Btw I've never listened to Lulu, so those rankings would all be at the bottom for me personally, which is probably the way it is for a lot of people
The day that never comes is pretty high compared to the 2000s era LOL. But yeah, the top 2 are crazy good
Pretty good list.
Cliff 'Em All 👊👊
And I really love how you edited this video.
TLITD is definitely one of the most underrated if not the most underrated Metallica song
I love Hardwired's songs so much
Finally someone with a brain recognises that Phantom Lord is actually good
Was jamming to this earlier today. It's so good.
It's amazing how different people can view these songs. Like, personally, I disagree with a lot of this list, but I respect your picks 👍
The love for Death Magnetic will not go unnoticed🙌
Very good for the period of Metallica that It was done
damn, hardwired album was done dirty here. Half that album is easily in the top 50, Atlas Rise and Moth into flame easily top 20
3:42 this is Rebel of Babylon, Not hell and back.
Gosh damnit I knew I messed something like that up. Lol. Thanks bro.
Fade to Blackhas always been my favorite, and probably always will be. For a future listening adventure, I suggest Tool. Pretty interesting band thats my favorite. just something to think about
We've been voting to do that band for like a month now
Don't know about the overall list, but i gotta agree with fade to black, everything is perfect, even Kirk's stuff has amazing tone and feel. The last solo has a lot of weird transitions but they all make sense
Everything about that song is crazily good, even after all this time the song will come up on my Ride the Lightning CD and give me chills.
personally, i would put shadows follow and 2x4 a bit higher, but that's just my opinion
Damn. Some people don't deserve internet
Bleeding Me at #99 has me distraught
Good list, But I would NOT put Welcome Home (Sanitarium) below top five.
Eye of the Beholder on my CD has this super heavy WUB WUB WUB for the bass and it is fkin awesome
@@NewtsGD Hell yeah man lmao
Interestingly enough, I think they upped the amount of flange they used on James' voice for that one in the remaster too
I'm very happy to see Fade to Black at number one considering that's also my favorite song by them ❤
Probably also my favourite song of all time too
to live is to die at number 2 is a huge w
Damage, Inc. is my fav Metallica song, thrashy as hell and a omg solo
My first ever metal band i ever listened to and still one of my personal inspirations for my love of music
Haha yeah bro, Metallica is a staple to music in general, it's unbelievable how much they've done and how good they are.
@@NewtsGD you should do more of these with other metal bands, like slayer or testament
I also recommend you Voivod (Progressive Thrash Metal)
I've done one for System of a Down, and 2 rock bands, next is gonna be Rage Against the Machine and Deftones. Definitely gonna try do as many bands as I can while I'm getting this many views
In some parts I can agree with your quite rare opinion but most of the places are incomprehensible for me...however good video!
Lol yeah, like probably Eye of the Beholder
@NewtsGD eye of the beholder is an amazing track, that's right
had some problems with the list until 1 and 2 were my 1st and 2nd favorite songs from them
@@craggywag5482 haha they're just so awesome 😎
@@NewtsGD it would've been crazy if my top 5 was the top 5 lol
Top 2 is all the matters. What's your top 5?
@@NewtsGD 1: Fade to Black
2: To Live Is to Die
3: Orion
4: Creeping Death
5: Unforgiven II
Ok, I genuinly whant to know, what do you dislike so much about Prince Charming. Is it just that the mix is different or it's a different genre. That song is one of my favorite metallica songs. Same thing with The House Jack Built. That song has such an atmosphere.
Honestly both just bored me, there's nothing too big about it, they're not the worst but Metallica had a large discography of awesome songs, these just happened to come out around the bottom :(
the hate for load and reload lmao
The hate for load and reload I think is people misunderstanding thr appreciation for their 80s stuff.
2nd best doesn't mean worst, my friend
Tbh i hated how you ranked everything until the top 10 which is extremely respectable
Local man discovers what happens when U like every song by Metallica
Should've done Nothing Else Matters from the S&M, it's the superior version to me.
This is exactly what I feel about Metallica imma be real
i cant decide if ride the lightning or master of puppets is my favorite album from metallica
It's between AJFA and RTL and MOP, they're all incredible
@@NewtsGD AJFA gets too much hate for the mixing and mastering (me listening mostly with tv speakers)
Love seeing Eye Of The Beholder so high!
Banger song 🔥🔥🔥
a lulu song making it to spot 82 is just nuts
also i will not understand the hate for if darkness had a son, it's got a good riff and the "temptation"s are a strong point, though it might be a little repetitive
Avant-Garde is a good genre, most of the album happens to just be terrible lol
I disagree with some things, but hey, tastes I respect it. Btw AJFA best album🤘
AJFA is a close second, incredible album
Yea you lost me at 2 x 4 at 123
I lost myself listening to St. Anger, so we're all lost bro.
And he puts my #1 song of all time at #1... hell yeah!
Fade to Black RAHHHHHH!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥
despite disagreeing with this HEAVILY, and being especially taken aback when you said that "Hardwired...
“No offense, but I’ve been hearing that about every single Metallica album I’ve bought since before you were born.”
I remember the guy at work who told me that Master of Puppets wasn’t as good as RTL.
These things take a while to marinate, and the DM production leaves something to be desired, but I’ve always loved the songs.
I still wonder about an employee at a music store who isn’t played by Jack Black sharing that particular unsolicited opinion.
@@oscardiggs246 I actually love the mixing on DM and how it makes the guitar and drums feel so much more powerful, but maybe im just weird
did anyone not notice that "Rebel of Babylon" and "Hell and Back" were switched?
Yeah I figured out later. I also missed Through the Never, there's a couple of editing slipups HAHAH
Atleast you seemed to have enjoyed Death Magnetic but your View on Hardwired as an album completely Flipped by Dream No More.
Are you commenting as you go? Cos you're going from insulting me to not. Which is uhhh, confusing.
@@NewtsGD No ones insulted you buddy your list is just Funny ahaha. You said songs off Reload and St Anger were bad but continued to put them Over actual Slammers you didn't seem to mind. I Fully Recommend watching the Full Performance of SnM to Enjoy Load and Reload how they should be! Also the Video Clip to Hero Of the Day is rather Deep and shows the songs Full Potential! And Finally go watch Inamorata Live a few Times and You'll see why it's so Beautiful and Important to Metallica's Masterful Legacy!
@@jye_24 well, if you insist, but you called me a tone deaf teen so...
Also the text doesn't really give the whole story of the placement for a song.
Also I liked Inamorata
@@NewtsGD I insist
