Thank you for not censoring Larry! He is telling it like it is and it’s awesome!
We couldn't!!!! Cheers!
I came here to say the same. We also would love to hear more pit lane commentary and what not this day and age.
We know it happens, imagine SVG letting loose on the comms.
It's perfectly acceptable enthusiastic Australian English. Censoring it would be offensive to our culture.
So what does "Buck All" translate too? Mustve been a farm boy.
@@perkinsengineeringI would have loved to have been there to hear LP on the day it's alleged he pulled into the pits and removed the Polariser from the VL he was driving. I'm guessing he used the same words in a different context ':)
It’s F all…….LP you’re a legend
thats a T-shirt right there !
Is that Imperial or Metric?
I believe it's universal@@anthonymaddison9588
Fuckin A!
Cheers!
I'm 53, Larry was my childhood hero. And he literally still is. Best motorsport engineer and race driver we've ever seen. Brock owed a lot of his 'success' to Larry Clifton Perkins. Thanks Jack, your channel is terrific 👍
same age, same hero.
I could not have said it better. My sentiments exactly.
Many thanks for the kind words. Cheers!
Yup, same age, same hero,.... :)
Filmed interviews with LP and PB, Larry was always direct and to the point.
@@perkinsengineering Jack, try and convince the old man to sit down with a quality writer and bash out an autobiography. It would be a sensational read.
The best thing about this is hearing LP being so blunt. Great work Jack. Love it.
Yep. Supercars is so precious these days in not allowing anyone to bad mouth their cars. And they should. You don't improve without critical feedback. Always loved Larry's ability to build cars, his race craft, and for telling it like it is. I so miss the owner drivers.
Tell it how it is !!! Cheers!
I'm a Group A fanatic, but this era of cars are still very special. Once they went to pipes and plastic replicas without a genuine body shell, it got a bit meh. Following this restoration has been amazing, and to culminate with this shakedown and Larry behind the wheel, what a lovely piece of art this is. I really wish we could start another category of real touring cars and privateers. It's become more of a business rather than builders racing their own cars. Enjoy the mountain in this epic machine. And congratulations to all involved. Thanks for sharing.
Couldn’t agree more with you. Well said.
Many thanks for following!! Cheers!
No local manufacturers, no more interest in the sport. Just how it is. Really sad.
@@panagiotis1519 plenty of manufacturers building cars far more exciting than the local four ever did. And much quicker.

I could listen to Larry’s wisdom all day long he’s story’s he’s history
The engineering achievements
Well done jack and Larry and all the team involved you have made us fans so happy to see this done
Many thanks for watching! Cheers!
😂😂😂
OMFG!! Larry you legend at 3:15 hahahahahaha
"Feels very familYAH.
...Fucken Sterring's heavy!"
Meanwhile little jack is presenting the show all prim and proper. Calm demeanour.
Then there's Larry!
Fucken steerings heavy!
😂😂😂😂
I replayed that 5 times.
Going for a 6th now
Hahaha we definitely didn't have a script to follow! Cheers!
Credit to you JP! Best father/son project by a country mile!
Cheers Ash!!
Congrats Jack and all those who helped you , you make some old time Aussie V8 fans very happy👍👍
Cheers!
What an amazing time machine. I watched that car win Bathurst, and to see it again brought tears to my eyes.
Cheers!
Jack “and”
LP “steering’s fucken heavy”
haha Cheers!
It must've been so rewarding to get behind the wheel after all those years of hard work. It looks and sounds fantastic.
Long live the Holden V8.
Long live LP.
And long live Australia.
Very much so! Cheers!
No need to sugar coat anything LP…..that car looks fantastic as the day I first saw it in 93’ in Bathurst when LP signed a black and a white cap for me in town. Long live Perkins engineering!
Cheers!
Can't wait to see this thing around Bathurst again now! Impeccable resto Jack. Go Larry!
Cheers!
At 7:27 you can see the joy in your eyes Jack, congrats mate, what an achievement!
Cheers!
Looks and sounds awesome. Very good job Jack. Engine sounds very peaky and strong
Cheers!
Well Done JP, you have brought a massive amount of enjoyment to everyone that follows the channel. Really appreciate you sharing the journey and opening up your workshop. Great job to everyone involved.
Cheers Jord!!!
Fucken steerin's heavy! Classic LP, absolute legend in an iconic car
Cheers!
I don’t think there are words enough to express what a great thing you have done Jack. Superb restoration materially is one thing , but building emotion into a journey that culminates with Dad getting a buzz out of a 30 year old memory of a significant event and you get to sit in the same vehicle and experience it , moves this from a resto to an ethereal experience . Enjoy the fruits of your dream and labour . ❤
Many thanks!
That's a massive credit to you Jack. As mentioned you had help and they all played vital parts in bringing this together but most was you.
Hats off, well done.
Love LP just being LP with his honesty. 🤣🤣
Cheers!
That was effing unbelievable watching LP lapping laps around Calder. Great job, Jack👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
That's the difference of a quality restoration, it feels exactly the same, as when it was first built, in 93. A pleasure to see.
That's it!!!! Cheers!
F -All 😊 Gotta love Larry Perkins ❤🇦🇺 Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😎👍✌
Cheers!!!
Good to see L/P drop a few F Bombs....lol My God Calder Park looks REALLY run down, would not have happened under Bob;s watch, finally *STILL* got find that photo of your dad testing there in the 80;s sorry again Jnr. PS Great Video
We are luck to still have Calder to be honest, it will get better again with time. Cheers!
I love it how Larry still glances the mirrors👍
I don't wanna bust your bubble but it might have been to see where the camera car was.
Great to see this father and son combo. Pure love of motorsport
You have to keep checking your mirrors!!!! It's what a lot of inexperienced people don't do at track days. Cheers!!
@@woopimagpie camera car wasn't there. It was because he was bedding brakes in and running in the car
@@perkinsengineeringand on the road everyday which a lot of people don't seem to do
If I could have any V8 super car, It would have to be between Larry’s VL walkinshaw and this Castrol VP. But nothing beats the sound of the Aussie V8….
Cheers!
F#$%n steer,n heavy!!,, true LP honest assessment 😂,, I was always in the blue paddock in this fantastic era, but this car in particular was truly won of the best looking of its time and there wasn't a ford fan that didn't admire Larry !!
Cheers!
Awsome Job Jack very special that car will always be apart of Australia's motor sport History Awsome to see it back out on track can't wait to see it doing some laps 30 years later just bloody Awesome great work mate 💯🏁
Cheers!
How good would it be to see Jack and Greg Hansford's son together in a car!! I watched this car win in 93 and cement Larry as a legend 95 concreted it.
That would be cool!
Killer video Jack, keep them coming. I may have missed it but did John Ramsdale help out with the engine??
I'm not sure who that is? Neill Burns rebuilt it for us.
Jack, the whole video, the look on LP face, the car, the Vibe , fkg fantastic boys, brought a tear to my eye, made my day and week. Thanks jack and LP
Glad you enjoyed it!! Cheers!
How good is to see LP back in the car again ❤💪
Very cool! Cheers!
Larry needs to be sitting in a 70’s era F1 car with that stonker of a mo on the top lip.
That would be cool!!!!
congrats on finally gettin her done Jack!.. awesome job..its a work of art!... so good to see that weapon back on track, especially with LP behind the wheel...
Cheers!
unfiltered Larry when he pulled up after the first laps was a good laugh
Hahaha yeah absolutely!
Congratulations to all involved in the restoration it is amazing. Hope I get to see it one day. What a thrill for Larry to drive it and bringing back all those memories. Also a nice tribute to Greg Hansford. Well done Jack.
Cheers!
Still one of the best paint schemes on a race car. Even if the steering's fkn heavy 😂
Haha it's a great looking car!! Cheers!
Awesome job completed well with amazing documentation and videos. Thanks for signing my shirt in 06 at the agp it may have blown you away but as I said to you like father and son you will become a icon and you have just as LP keep on being you and doing your family proud mate🤙🤙
Cheers!
Mate how do I get a of Perkins engineering cap wit yours and LP signature on it?? $$ will pay no drama🤙🤙
The fruition of a lot of hard work & dedication, to say you must be stoked is a massive understatement and to hear LP dropping F bombs, gold!
Haha yes lots of work involved and nice to see it burning around!! Cheers!
I can remember a bloke with a big bushy moustache who looked a bit like this bloke driving a VW in 79 at Tailem Bend rallycross. He engineered some Janson cars as well.
Very well done to Jack, Larry and crew to get to Calder with this car. Looks too good!
That's a long time ago!!!!! Cheers!
I was a competitor at that me

Not fuckin bad

Awesome.. Congratulations on the completion of the VP.. Very much enjoyed the Perkins Engineering RUclips videos..

Had a hard day today. This made things better. Couldn’t stop smiling through the whole thing and loved LP’s comments at the end. Loved all of it.
Thankyou.
You're welcome! Cheers!
Love hearing the Father & Son banter. Brings a tear to my eye!
Cheers!
Great to see LP behind the whell of this beautiful car again.
Cheers!
Awesome restoration. Love the car, love the sound from it. Its an excellent recreation of the memory and times of a great era in V8 racing in Australia. I still remember watching this car on TV win the 1993 Bathurst 1000.
Many thanks! Cheers!
I had a 5th anniversary clubsport with a mild cam 3inch straight through exhaust and I had ford people come up and admire the sound- but your car is 20 levels better sounding! You should be proud of yourself for an awesome job you and your crew have achieved! Well done!
Cheers!!
Still a Larrikin at heart. Love the bloke. Car looks & sounds mint. Great work. Just what you'd expect from anything with the Perkins name on. Glad Greg Hansford's on there too. Authenticity matters.
Cheers!
Appreciate the minimalistic approach Larry had with his cars. Only fitting to the car was it required to succeed to reduce point of failures and avoiding unnecessary distractions and additional weight. Legend.
That's it! Cheers!
Looking forward to seeing this one 😊 great work P.E. such awesome work...thanks for leaving in the swearing LP YOU Fing legend. Wasn't expecting that..still laughing my A$$ OFF hours later...😅😅
Hahaha Cheers!
Just bloody fantastic. Loved Larry's REAL talk. I have really enjoyed following this journey and learning about the technology you guys where at the forefront of. Real people, Real cars, Real good. Thank you....
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Love everything about this.
Calder. They test ran the mighty L34 Torana there. Showing Brock.
Cheers!
Love watching this stuff. Your Dad is only a couple of years older than me, and I’ve been watching him race ever since I can remember going to the ATCC races at Sandown and Calder. Great stuff !
Keep at it LP
Great job Jack
Many thanks! cheers!
Hey Jack and LP , apologies to you blokes and everybody for the 🤬 … ☝️ but Fuck Yeah ….. this is the best 👏 . Cannot wait to watch it at Bathurst . Tremendous job Jack
Cheers!
The story could only have been improved if Gregg 'Harry' Hansford had been there to share in the moment. Thanks for letting us come along for the ride!!!
Yeah that would've made it! Cheers!
We built durable world class cars here in Aus and we raced 'em. The first one to win Bathurst with a Holden engine was a nimble little Torana in 1972. That car opened a window in history.
The last car to win Bathurst with Holden power was this one in 1993 & then that window closed.
Holden engines won more races during that period than any other. They were good engines.
Even though it's been 23 years since a new Holden V8 left the factory, hundreds of thousands of them survive.
This one fitted to Larry's 1993 Bathurst winner must surely be the most important of them all & just like countless thousands of her sisters, she still responds to love & care & she still does everything anyone could ever want an engine to do.
Congratulations to you, Larry. You built a truly great car.
Congratulations to you, Jack. You rebuilt a truly great car.
To all of the racers, mechanics, engineers & owners who helped keep this car alive after all these years & to those who helped put her back together exactly as she was on her biggest day out, THANKYOU.
This car is special.
Not wrong there! Raced 'em on Sunday, sold them on Monday! Cheers!
New Pads, New Tyres, Very Old Surface,....
Transistion across the new concrete for the Drag Racing looks a little hairy at speed, no doubt it'll improve as the drag track prep continues to lay down more rubber over time.
Yes an old surface but still a cool track :)
Unreal, well done guys :)
Thanks guys! Cheers!!!
Two legends! What a great day and a beautiful car. 1993 Bathurst was my first visit, loved it and enjoyed Larry and Greg winning in the VP. Good luck at Sandown and Bathurst Jack, I will be supporting you and Will, your guys are in a great position to win.
Cheers!!
Well done Jack, Larry and the team behind this.
Im ashamed to say although i watched every episode since the start i wasnt a subscriber, but i clicked today.
Brings back childhood memories racing home on lunch breaks on my pushy from mitre 10 to watch the touring cars for 30mins before zooming back to work.
Hopefully these cars stay period correct and in the Perkins/Hansford for many many years to come.
Cheers for watching!!
Congratulations. Great to see the legend that is LP back behind the wheel of the Holden engined VP from 93.
Awesome job to all concerned. A priceless peace of Australian racing history, no thanks to the f***ing politicians who killed our car industry.
Cheers!
Just gotta luv a real race car with steel panels and a H pattern shifter well done boys.
Cheers!
Fabulous effort to restore such an amazing car! I loved watching it at the Sandown 500 weekend where Larry raced hard up the front and set a new lap record early on. It sounded lovely pulling out of NGK corner and heading up the back straight from the main grandstand..... And nobody ever looked like being able to pass it going up there! Whilst it was unfortunate it blew up down the front straight mid race, I left looking forward to a good result at Bathurst. It was a rocketship!
You have a great memory!!! Cheers!
It’s been so enjoyable watching this progress on the videos. LP and the other Holden drivers are so special to so many people. I was born in 1980 so my first memories of touring cars were the mid to late 80s and the passion was certainly there in the early 90s and has been until this day. Dad had a commodore so naturally that started my love of V8 commodores and I’ve owned commodores since I was old enough to have a license. I got my first V8 when I was 18 and have always had one since, during Covid I had three. I drive a 6L to work and my 23 year old son now owns my VN SS that I had for twenty years so the next generation is carrying on the passion. What you’ve done with the restorations is mind blowing and I’m sure others, like me, are emotional about seeing and hearing these run like that. Be very proud of what you’ve achieved, it means so much to so many I’m sure and it’s nothing to do with the value etc, it’s the memories.
Many thanks! Cheers!
Well done Jack and Larry, a Perkins win again for the old school stuff, and it might not be able to outpace this new gear, but I'll bet it would be still there at a 1000km again at Bathurst if it was allowed race, well done to all, LP I remember getting showered in champaign at the presentation that day in 93, great great memories indeed.
Larry Larry Larry, I can still hear the crowd👍
Cheers!
What you’re done here Jack is amazing, the work and attention to detail is unbelievable!. LP your a legend mate and I’m putting my hand up already for the “It’s F All” t shirt!
Cheers
Cheers!
Well done Jack & crew; awesome restoration on such a fantastic piece of Australian motorsport history.
Could feel the joy from the other side of a tv screen. 👌
Glad you enjoyed it, Cheers!!!
Fantastic work Jack and all the team. She looked amazing, basking once again on a sunlit track.
Glad you enjoyed it, Cheers!
Nice one Jack. That's a special day and what a bloody fantastic car
Yes it was! Cheers!
The look on Larry's face is priceless. Great feedback from the driver 😅
Cheers!
I see Larry is using the same language as those blokes he blew away at Bathurst back in 1993 AFTER HE BLEW THEM AWAY!
hahaha Cheers!
I pity the bloke in the Mustang,, getting passed by an elderly Supercar complete with elderly driver. With a very distinctive helmet.
Hahaha Cheers!
You say about the car you’re driving at Bathurst having power steering. Don’t bet on that, they keep blowing the power steering up, regardless of make and team…
Haha yeah true, however there's always a reason and with steering theres thankfully only likely to be a handful of issues, so hopefully its close to being sorted by Bathurst!
Steerings a bit fuckn heavy, but thats what it was like.... Can we bottle all this and keep it?
Greatly appreciate your efforts everyone involved, there's space in my shed for it as promised Jack
Hahaha Cheers!
Both men are full of love and respect for each other , its clearly visible how proud larry is of Jack and vice versa.
Great Australians and in my mind larry is the true king of Aussie motor sport in the last 50 years!
The stories about him and brocky driving up to bathurst are classic and there is no one more patriotic to australian motoring than larry in the public eye.
Keep on truckin to you both and may there be many more years of Larry and Jack tearing up the bitumen.
Cheers!!!
Sorry to ask what might be a silly or obvious question.... But is there an episode that shows the little digital dash or lap timer unit mounted just in front of the gear shifter? Don't remember seeing it before.... Most likely just that I've had too many hits to the head.
Check out episode 43!! Cheers!
Absolutely awesome result, Jack and LP. I had flashbacks from 30 years ago watching the in-car (race cam) views from the many rounds of the former SATCC. Wow, how good to hear and see the VP roar again with LP behind the wheel and that magnificent ‘H’ pattern gear shift mechanism. Congratulations to all who were involved. Great Holden history.
Cheers!
So bloody awesome!! Fantastic effort Jack! Best video yet!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
thing was (ca 1993) and still is a rocket! great resto this!
and
geez doesn't it sound good, that V8 makes luvverly noises :)
Cheers!!!
L P, well done a true legend telling it like it is. In a sanitized world it's great that some people are still so honest. One of the best engineers and drivers ever. Love the show Jack. Great memories for you and your Dad.
Cheers!!!
She still sounds as good, if not better than back in the day. Great job to she her back.
Great to see Larry back enjoying himself.
Cheers!!!
How awesome! Amazing resto job and what a great moment both being able to drive it!...Wish i had a LP Holden engine appear under the xmas tree!
Thank you very much! Cheers!!!!
Shades of ‘93! Larrykin’ Larry Perkins has gone the long way round! It’s got some mumbo…
Great quotes from 1995 there!! Love it! Cheers!
.....your Father's eyes are still sharp...Mighty Effort.........🏆💯
Many thanks! Cheers!
Bravo Zulu (well done) to all involved in the car. Question on Notice When did you go to Refueling Rigs that had for for Gen 2 cars?
So the refueling dry breaks on this car are actually the same as Gen2, except in 1993 there was one on each side of the car. In current situations they are set-up in siamese so they are side by side on the same side of the car. One less person standing out in the "fast lane" of pit lane. Cheers!
Great to see the old boy back behind the wheel, brings back such good memories, and i can't wait to see him tackle the mountain again. Well done on the restoration looks amazing 👏
Cheers!!
How did it drive JP? I s'pose not only did you have to get used to the Armstrong steering, but im betting that the driving position is all LP, as it was back then too 😂
It was good. I had driven the 1997 car before, so not too dissimilar in a way, but the Holden Engine with the slide manifold is very nice to drive. Driving position with seat and steering wheel was all good for me :)
Love seeing Larry so pumped dropping a few F - Bombs haha Jake wasnt too impressed I think lol
No scripts here! Cheers!
Well done, what an achievement - and to get the details bang on is so much investigating. Had a poster of this car on the wall as a kid for a long time out of AutoAction mag. Very cool!
Cheers!
Best episode so far Jack! Great to see Larry not censored. Tells it as it is!
Cheers!!!!
Thats RidgeyDidge Jack,Your father must be very proud of you Mate.
Cheers!
So down to earth, you two are magic.
And the SOUND OF THAT V8 😍😍😍
Cheers!
Great job Jack (and everyone involved), great car and Larry looked very happy 👍🇦🇺
Cheers!
Well done! The car looks much more brutal to drive compared to a modern supercar. Will be great to see it running again at Bathurst.
Cheers!
Stunning, I am old enough to remember the race and the car. Great to se it finished and done. Hello from Seattle USA.
Why thank you! Cheers!!!
Greg would be looking down with glee… bloody nice job from the young and old Perkins boys..
💨
Wish he was here, but we can celebrate with his children
I can't remember the last time i drove a car without power steering. I can't imagine driving a race car without it!
It's funny really, the direction the current style of cars have gone with set-up, things like negative camber, castor etc. are because they have power steering. The more of that "stuff" you put into the car the more feedback through the steering. So nowadays when the power steering failures you literally have no chance to keep driving it, back then you could only sneak on so much camber until it was too heavy - you created your own limits. Cheers!
So good!!! Well done Jack and crew.. It just puts a silly grin on your face!
Cheers!
This video is awesome, thanks so much for sharing with us guys.
Our pleasure! Cheers!!
That sound is amazing!👏
Did the cars get sold off when time was up or mothballed?
Our cars (and business model) was sell them to customers and then continue to build them engines and spare parts etc.
