- F9 or Fast and Furious 9 has arrived and FilmSpeak is bringing you their F9 movie review discussing How F9 Killed the Fast and Furious Franchise in this video essay!
Let's face it, for many of you, the Fast & Furious franchise has been dead and buried for a while now and even I who enjoys most all of the films will admit that the series should've ended with Furious 7. Now, two movies later and a spinoff, I think it's safe to say that the Fast and Furious franchise has completely run out of nitrous. F9 isn't just a bad movie, Fast and Furious 9 is without question the WORST fast and furious movie ever and it's because the series simply has no idea what it's even doing any more. No sense of identity paired with lazy writing that takes advantage of the good will audiences members have for the films. Oh, and it doesn't help when you're newest addition, John Cena, is spewing off nonsense such as "Taiwan isn't a country" in order to optimize box office returns in China. F9 marks director Justin Lin's return to the fast & furious movies reteaming with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Charlize Theron, and the highly anticipated revival of Sung Kang as Han and the arrival of John Cena (who deseved better than what this trash heap did to him). Dom Toretto is living the quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, but they know that danger always lurks just over the peaceful horizon. This time, that threat forces Dom to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves most. His crew soon comes together to stop a world-shattering plot by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they've ever encountered -- Dom's forsaken brother. Griffin (@griffschiller) explains why the Fast and Furious franchise dies with F9 in his review of Fast and Furious 9. He also explains why F9 represents the worst tendencies in franchise filmmaking today. Whether you agree or not, hopefully you enjoy this video essay of how f9 killed the fast and furious franchise!

If this is the movie in the franchise that crosses the line you are part of the problem why it got so bad.
And them being stuck in space was such a kick in the balls
Sure make more vid like these ^_^
I just wanted to say I am pro a independent Taiwan n down with the CCP. With that said I dont blame JOHN CENA!!! Hehehe with wut he said. It is obvious he was force to make that apology :D
John Cena have never been a actor.. and will never be that in my eyes!
Great review.
“family is everything” fails to mention their actual blood brother in 8 movies.
😂😂😂
Indeed
🤣🤣
I mean for Dom, his brother was pretty much "deleted" when he thought he killed their dad. But yeah I couldn't overthink how stupid it sounds to have him never EVER mentioning his brother in ANY film, then he suddenly pop up of nowhere and decides to steal some intergalatic space sh*t orb. Where the hell was his brother where Dom literally had control of God's Eye? Isn't that thing literally able to monitor the entire universe? If his brother was truely pure evil, he would have sabotaged every mission Dom ever did, from the very first movie imo (probably trying to get him arrested when Brian let him go). Even if Dom hated his brother, he should have atleast mention him in one film as a "bad example" of family... Also what kind of "immersion" it should give us when Dom's brother is the evil one when literally 2 movies before (including Hobbs and Shaw), Dom himself was the "bad guy"? I hate the fact that I don't like this franchise as much before but thats how things are.
Also heres my prediction to the final movie: Cipher is the one incharge of the super soldiers platoon or whatever that we saw in F&F: Hobbs and Shaw, Dom will say more things about family and we will see literally everyone from the franchise to finally conclude the story for the good and for the bad.
Hes mentioned in the first film by mia
Plot Twist: Dom has been in a coma since The Fast and The Furious after hitting the Semi Truck and its all a dream.

Its no coincidence the Fast series died after Paul. He literally held everything together and Vin went literally nuts after his death. Vin began to covet family so much that it turned into a parody while also trying to always one-up the last film as if he thinks he's letting Paul down with anything less. Its what happens when a series is run by a GROUP rather than a single entity. When one person of that group leaves, the entire machine collapses like a cog falling off a watch. The machine that was Fast broke when Paul died and we're seeing its parts spin out of control into the inevitable failure. It's sad, but its also interesting to see how much an impact one person can have on a franchise. *cough*JACK SPARROW*cough*
This is true sometimes its one character that makes other apsects and characters of the movie interesting. The Dark Knight is kinda an example due to Heath Ledgers joker. Without him the movie probably would be more boring
They’re no longer petty thieves. Now they’re Power Rangers in Space.
You mean "Minions in Space" 😂
I don't think that's enough to describe them
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Family in space
😂😂😂 Power Rangers that’s funny af!!!

Dom : *Forgot about his brother*

And leaves his son
🤣🤣🤣
And now he has a grandma
He didn't forget, told him to get lost or he'd hurt him.
Gisele isn't dead either. The only thing shown was her falling from a car and the crew didn't even bother looking for her body. WTF.
Bro.... 😂😂😂
She races submarines now
F&F could have ended perfectly at 7. That ending was touching and tastefully done, something you would expect from an Oscar winning film and not a popcorn flick. As you said, the action was within a tolerable limit. And the Paul Walker - Vin Diesel duo was the glue that was holding the group together.
For me the franchise ended even before 9, at the 8th movie. I went to the theater and left pissed off. It was soulless, it took itself way too seriously without much fun moments, the plot is a mess where Dom is the bad buy and the killer of Han joins the family, no practical effects but over the top CGI action which you would expect in capeshit. They already had jumped the shark in that one. I never bothered to watch FF9 because the reviewers had finally caught on on the carnage and it seemed to be even worse.
They really should’ve just stopped at 7. That last scene with Paul walker is just so great.
Absolutely and Statham as the villain was fantastic!
Vin Diesel just wants to milk the franchise dry 😒 I’m done with the franchise
They kept going because Paul walker had said there would be 10
I heard someone say this is what Vin Diesel wanted the triple x movies to be but fast and furious is the one that popped off so he just ran with that lol
@@loganwithlightsabers3051 we all know it’s really witch hunters he wanted to do lmaooo I actually liked last witch hunter

This joke has been done so many times and is still so funny 🤣🤣
Dom was so focused on his family that he forgot he had a Brother
The fact that you said someone might go to a festival in the hopes of seeing the eternals broke my brain to pieces.
"Fast 10 your seatbealts": Dom figures out and builds by himself a 5,000 hp electric car that travels back in time, goes and prevents paul walker to die in real life, we find that Lety is actually a descendant from the amazonians and Dom has super strenght due to gamma radiation exposure when he was a kid
😂😂😂👌
*thows money at screen* make it happen and the ending need to be that chris prat from jurrasic world i walker long lost super secret brother.and must be rescued from the dinosaur/kaiju island in fasf car, space cars and a car made of dinosaurs as well.
Make this happen
at this point...i wouldn't even be shocked lol
Tyreese realizing he’s invincible challenges the devil himself to a street race, wins and accends to godhood
I was frustrated at the fact that in the very first film, they explain that Dominic Toretto used a 3 quarter inch torque wrench to beat a man half to death, but in F9 when they show the younger dom beating the man, he was using a pipe wrench.
Continuity errors, gotta hate them.
Lets not forget just how large and cumbersome a 3/4 inch torque wrench is to swing around lolz
I know it's a joke, but this scene involves something else that actually infuriates me. Wasn't the legend of The Charger born because Dom's dad died in it and he was scared to drive it? Then WHY DID HE DIE IN A NASCAR RACE FFS
@@0p13l5 he died driving it in a race, was never named
That's actually an Easter Egg for F-Eleven, when they drive their cars back through time and cause "ripples" that cause minor details like that. The two Brazilian guys from F5 got rippled right out of existence.
Thank you for mentioning John Cena's apology. People don't understand how bad that was.
Fast and Furious is a super hero series with very clear rules. So long as characters are touching a car, they are invincible, and gain genius level intelligence to solve problems with the car.
Not to mention they almost always survive crashes
I remember when I saw Tokyo Drift and they showed Dom's character at the end, the whole theater went nuts, because we didn't know about it beforehand, that's what the movies now are lacking, among other things..
I just rewatched TD last night and I so agree! That cameo at the end really works and teases a bigger future that I feel they still haven’t really taken the time to explore…shame
Straight up, same thing happened to little 8 yr old me. People started throwing popcorn and drinks everywhere, there wasn't one person who walked out of that theatre or without popcorn particles everywhere 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤣🤣🤣 Good times
@@FilmSpeak they could've done an entire dom paul sean arc in asia :(
@@FilmSpeak Never saw the film in theaters. But I saw it on DVD back in the day as a kid. I was really hoping that whatever happened in the next movie, Sean would be there showing off his drifting skills and helping out Dom and the gang.
Then in Fast 7 he has a cameo right after the race and then that's it. I was upset because I wanted him to go with Dom to help catch the dude who killed Han, Han mentored him and I wanted him to get revenge for his death. Keep in mind, I haven't watched Fast 5 or Fast 6 despite owning both of them on RUclips, but regardless, Sean should've been in Fast 7!
@@windghost2 you didn’t watch f5 and f6 are you insane!!?

Tokyo drift always was the black sheep of the franchise. But f9 really bury tokyo drift hard as hell.

@@bernardobjs1 your favorite yes but it’s still the weakest in the franchise.
the 5th movie is the best
@@BensyBens if you like cars and racing, 3rd is the best. But of course, opinions.
The thing that annoys me the most is my favourite movie was f3 not just of the series, but ever. I remember being upset that Han died and the story was gripping, now he’s not dead and it makes me not feel the same feelings that I had
I remember watching the first 30 minutes of TD and hating it but laughing at how bad it was... and by the time I walked out of the theatre I was loving it
In the first movie Dom gets badly injured from a roll over crash, and rightfully so. Now he's stomping on concrete and making it crumble. It's like the movies arnt taking place in the same universe
I’m calling it now, Fast and Furious 10 will have Danny Trejo as Dom’s dad 🤔
I'd love for Gal Gadot to return... Afterall F&F launched her career
🤣🤣🤣
I was thinking Sylvester Stallone as Doms dad has to be cause he’s ripped lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn't be surprised, I wouldn't doubt it, and I wouldn't mind it either.
Let's all be real here. Fast and Furious is dead when Paul Walker passed away.
8 was still ridiculous fun though haven't seen fast 9.
@@jdogjohnson9038 I regret buying a theater ticket for F8 of the Furious.
Paul Walker’s ? Was there more than one of him ?
Paul Walker
It actually died before that.
Series won’t die if ppl keep turning up and paying money to watch it.
Doesn’t matter if the opinions after the fact are unfavorable.
If ppl keep going and watching, even out of curiosity, or so they can have some content to post to their channel when they rant (see above)…then prepare for more of the same cycle in a few yrs w/ the next movie is released.
We loved Brian, we loved Han, we loved Letty and we felt their loss. Pretending it didn't happen cheated the fans of that feeling. I think they had an opportunity and missed it. Imagine the story continued and characters kept dying off, starting with Tyrese for believing he was invincible, and eventually all the others leaving Dom to sacrifice himself for his kid, cause "Family" ... perfect ending.
Next thing you know, Paul Walker is actually alive and comes back to film the ending of the franchise. Because "family"
This should have stopped at F8 Dom living with letty and his son. End of the story. No hobbs and shaw just,F8 was the perfect ending
This "Jakob is my brother" and "somehow Palpatine returned" has the same fcked up script writing energy
Lazy energy. I know it's an oxymoron but, well...
The drive thru window is open, and after using it people complain about the product.
Well, that's just lazy writing- Deadpool
Palpatine makes sense since that story has been around since I was in middle school back in 2000. Disney just did of lazy job of presenting why, in the books Palpatine had several clone bodies ready for him. When vader killed him he just transferred his consciousness to another body. Remember it is science fiction something fast and the furious is not suppose to be.
@Double Z that's only because disney is now owner of the material so they're rewriting history in a sense.
Still waiting for the biggest plot twist: Dom has always been a genius physicist.
Motere like the second coming of Einstein...
They're mutants and all in the MCU ..thats what I'm waiting for, that would explain everything.
Another plot twist would be that Dom has two identical brothers named Xander Cage and Riddick. Possible title for a new movie:
"Xxx: The Fast and the Furion"
😂😂😂
😂
Dom was blind the whole time.
I remember hearing an interview from Vin Diesel when Walker passed, my personal (Probably incorrect) insight is the notion that he really wanted to do 8 because Walker really wanted to, and then Universal saw that 8 was still profiting with a decent margin and decided 9 was justifiable. As he said, "If 7 is for Paul, 8 is from Paul". The problem is franchise fatigue kicked in with 8, and despite Universal putting off 9 to try and give time for spinoffs, it shows that you're just eventually gonna run out of ideas to make the franchise feel fresh. It's still amazing that the seventh installment is extremely highly regarded, a feat that's not often heard of, but it still shows even the best have their limits
Damn children.... FF4 is what killed it. 5,6,7,....28 all kept raping the corpse.
Dom always had his brother in the franchise, We just can't see him..
I love this comment 😂

To put it simply: It went from believability to bullshit.
I would say the ONLY redeeming factor was when Sean and Han reunited at the end.
My dad has always loved the FF franchise, even when the story is getting weirder he still think they're good. A couple of days ago we went to watch F9, on our way home he finally said, "Fast and Furious has become ridiculous don't you think?"

No it was over in the fourth one when The Rock slammed Vin Diesel's head into a classic muscle car made out of steel and dented the s*** out of it but left him unbruised
@@noone-ss8lu he has a thick skull hence no bruises
@@noone-ss8lu The fourth one didn't have The Rock in it. I don't remember that moment exactly, but I assume it's in the fifth movie during the scene when The Rock finds their location in Brazil and then destroys Dom's Charger. After which the two start fighting.
@@tomatodamashi YOUR'RE RIGHT I CHECKED. I haven't watched any of them before 6 in a really long time, i just remember it was their first fight. the point is the rock still cant slam Dom's head in to a car, smash the car and still not knock him out cold. his skull would crush before denting steel.
The death of the franchise was baked into the very first installment when the floorboard exploded for no reason whatsoever.

Fast five was the peak of the series.
It brought the "universe" together, had a desperate group use all their skills and smarts to steal money to live off and the ending where brian asks dom for one last race just to race really makes you feel some kind o way
Yup. Basically a copy of the Italian job but still a fun movie nonetheless
All they've done is basically remake Fast Five four times now, getting more and more ridiculous along the way. Fast Five was big enough. It didn't need to get bigger and stupider.

I like how a 2 hour and 30 minute movie was explained in 1 sentence
Calling my bet now: Toretto next finds out he has a long lost son he didn't know about who is going to be the villain, until the end where he turns good "Because of family."
The biggest suspension of disbelief isn't even Han being alive, it's Tyrese Gibsons character being literally invincible and knowing he can't die, even when surrounded by AKs blasting directly at him.
And yet Jesse was killed by Uzi’s with no accuracy at all smh now they should have kept him alive he was an awesome character and Leon and Vince were great characters too but they didn’t get character development at all neither did Suki or anyone from the first two except Brian O’ Conner really

Me too, along with the first Fast and Furious.
I mean if you see the first scene from F1 it’s a heist. The movies have always been a thrill.
The only good character in Tokyo Drift was Han which is why I'm glad they brought him back for the later movies. Everyone else I couldn't really care about, just enjoy watching Tokyo Drift for the cool cars and action scenes.
yeah they went from drivers and thieves now they're special ops lol
Yes! I found my own!
How did it gross $799 M ? Does this mean the franchise is finished commercially or as an artistic expression ?
People will still go for F10.
10:21 6 movies yes but Tokyo Drift is actually the 6th movie in the timeline. The order goes Fast & Furious 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 7, F8, H & S, F9 so far. So Han has only been dead for 3 movies and about 4 years in universe
Furious 7 will always be the last FF movie for me. Everything after that is just fanfiction.
Welcome to the real world!
4 and 5 are awesome, after that I've not been impressed at all
Basically everything after 4 or 5 has been fan fiction, the series is absolute garbage lol nothing wrong with enjoying but it is most definitely shite.

It would made more sense now why Roman would say how they somehow magically ALWAYS survive and never die. My boy there was shot by like 10 different people, managed to shoot them off with his pooring gun skills and make it out alive with couple of bruises. That potentially be confirmed in the last movie how they all freaking survived literally the world rising against them.
@john doe A little bit of meta happened there. I actually liked it lol
There in the multiverse
We already had a supersoldier in the spinoff film. I enjoy the series no matter how crazy it gets. It reminds me of Saints Row or Friday the 13th.
Previous films were still believable and plausible, such as Brian in the Lykan Hyper Sport jumping from tower to tower, the entire crew bringing the down the giant cargo plan with their cars, or Luke Hobbs redirecting the torpedo into the enemies truck, but Fast 9 literally took out of bounds. From Tyrese somehow avoiding all AK point blank shots, Dom and Letty being able to escape in the Charger across the mountains by having a hook strapped onto a rope or Dom flipping the truck that crashes onto a jet and being able to jump on time and survive.
I think even the actors are starting to feel pressures of Family.
I just watched Fast X yeaterday.
It’s the first First film i watched in theatres since Fast 7.
I think it was somewhat better than the last two, somewhat. I noticed that the Actors felt disconnected with the Family. Especially Han. Whenever Roman does something “funny”, Han chuckles but it’s like “I gotta react or else this mf will become depressed”. It didn’t feel natural. Han as a character is a reserved personality. He doesn’t show emotions as easily.
Everyone is fking old af now. The only exception being Jordana Brewster and Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey).
The Dom and Letty romance is just uncomfortable to watch. Letty pouncing on Dom like a HS girl in heat. She’s a middle aged woman. They just look too old for it to look anything other than uncomfortable.
John Cena looked great. Ramsey is drop dead gorgeous now. She looks more “British” if you can call it. Doesn’t have the dumb arse hair anymore which is nice.
Jordana Brewster was great as always, though she looks a bit fragile now. She does look aged (but still relatively young).
Rome and Tej look good enough. Though Tej looks older now, Rome seems recent enough.
Jason Statham was great. I think he looks better as he ages and it suits his character more too.
It was like watching Old ass people partaking in young people antics.
The highlight of the film was Jason Mamoa for sure. He added a lot of character to the film. Although he played that “Quirky, Evil, Anime-esque Bad Guy” .
A downside is how “Brian” is alive and well, but stays in the background. For a guy who’s retired, he sure seems busy. The fact that his wife is in constant danger is also quite outlandish. I think they could have treated it better.
I still facepalmed at a few scenes, but it was done nicely.
The fact that this film will have 2 more parts, makes me lose hope a little.
They’ll make damn sure to Milk it for at least half a decade more.
The Racing part is still there at least.
Although just for pandering. But the Car choices were clean. I really liked the Yellow RB26 swapped 280Z with hood mounted Turbo.
The character driving it would be related to a past love interest of Dom.
SPOILER
Gal Gadot is shown to be alive and well in the end.
Which makes no sense cause she actually fell to her death. It wasn’t like Han who could have been discreetly saved from a crashed car. She directly fell from a speeding vehicle.
She had no scratches, no scars. Ig she’s wonder woman now lmao.
Bruh, this is one heck of a review! I might as well just sit the movie out, lol
When you say Brian you mean Paul Walker Brian or another Brian I don’t know of?😂😂
My favorite scene is when Dom perfectly calculated how to snag his rear tire on a normal rope of a broken bridge to swing his car like Tarzan to catch a moving plane. And definitely wouldn't just snap the rope or tear off his axel at worse and send them plummeting off a cliff
Ahh yes a daily issue all drivers must face. Just that Dom made it mainstream sadly
family physics
Or the jump and catch mid air from the tank in the other F&F film
😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
That's the ending I would pay money to watch.
Dom toretto “long time no see brother, haven’t seen u in a while”
Jakob toretto “because YOU CAN’T SEE ME!!”
Oh GOD!
I thought 9 was bad, but 10 was one of the hardest movies to sit through
Fast Five should have been the finish. Everyone got rich. Dom had finally moved on from Letty becuase he still thought she was dead. Brian and Mia started a life. Han and Gisele moved on and traveled. Tej got his dream garage. Roman had the life he had been chasing from day 1. All there names were cleared and could have settled anywhere they wanted. They continued and in F7 the final moments was the 2nd time they could have had a perfect ending and then once again they ruined it. They just became greedy and wanted to squeeze out every last penny. I was a huge fan of this franchise but now I don't even care if another come out because they have become horrible.
I just saw f9 yesterday 😭🤣 I gotta say it was the funniest shit ever made 😂 especially when they went to space i lost my shit 💀 😭 get ready for 10 and 11 as they go back to the future
Still a good film
The movie was fine but going to space was tooo far. And despite the fact that Ludacris says as long as we obey the physics it is fine, many of the places physics was non existent. The story and the movie was meh
Yes! I'm 100% convinced it's actually all satire that's just making fun of their own entire franchise. Especially with Roman gaining self awareness lmao

Some years ago someone once joked that they would end up in space one day. I thought this was funny but also thought it would never happen. I’ve just watched F9 and yeah… hence I’m on this video now
And also how the expression " You dont turn your back on Family" is widely throughout the entire franchise, only to find out that Dom had in fact turned his back on family.
Dom was even at fault turning his back on him since their father’s death was in fact an Accident. He knew nothing about his father and just assumed his brother intentionally killed him based on some fuel line analysis BS. This movie was sooo disrespectful to the franchise.
@@IRONHIDE110 Agreed. A slap to Paul Walkers face too. I hate they are attempting to bring him into the story after his passing. THey should have left it the way it was, him driving his white supra off into the sunset. @@LaserDaveToast Man you get it. I was surprised/disappointed that people were saying " ohh I got goosebumps and this is awesome " , yet to me the way they portrayed Brian like he was some babysitter while letting his wife risk her life " if there was such a thing in this franchise anymore " just to conveniently join the party after all said and done, was just super disrespectful to his memory. I mean how hard can it be to just let him go, give an explanation somehow in the movie to which his character just passed away ?
Or maybe that's just me 🤷♂️
@@IRONHIDE110 I totally agree. His send off with the white supra was iconic. They could have incorporated little memory nuances of him, i hate they are attempting to bring him back. I would have accepted his brother even being a character instead of the whole toretto brother thing they did in this film. This is what happens thought when you have actors like Vin Diesel who are beefin with the rock for stealing his spotlight. You get a rushed film that makes zero sense to the plot and timeline. I should have been a movie critic. This is why i have a ton of Respect for directors like Christopher Nolan or James Cameron. They take their time to get it right, even if it means delays. Fast 9 was just a way for the actors to get a fast paycheck and it shows. I read somewhere that the next film should be the last film of the franchise. And after this last one they need to call it quits or get a new director.

There are 2 things i love about FF9
1. Roman talking about the bullet holes in his jacket without being hit himself.
2. Brian pulling up in a Skyline at the end
(Edit) The series should have ended after FF7
What's even crazier about this is that the movie still made 726 million dollars, the story has been dead since the first couple, but if you do a simple search you see they already have fast 10 in the works and they will probably make at least 1 or 2 more after that, such an interesting phenomenon this film is, tokyo drift was my favorite.
*Vin Diesel is now the modern day Chuck Norris, the way he now cheats death so casually.*
Funny how the Chuck Norris Facts were recycled from the older Vin Diesel Facts
You know, back in high school I discovered Vin Diesel Facts. This was in 2005, and I do believe they predate the Chuck Norris facts. Same shit but the Vin Diesel facts didn’t have the roundhouse kick meme to lean on so they always weirder and funnier.
@@AlexYorim I knew it!!
Nah. I’ll take Chuck all day. Those Chuck Facts existed way before them Toretto facts. If granted by meme fate, Chuckie will eat Toretto for breakfast always.
Han is somehow alive again too 🤣🤣
The really sad part about F9 is even the cast members don't seem excited about it anymore. It's just a paycheck for everyone involved. After Furious 7, it's just been diminishing returns recycling the same plot from Fast 6. Fast 5 was a refreshing twist to the series by having the series turn into a heist movie, but it was just for their personal gain, not for the stakes of the world. The series just hadn't been the same without Paul Walker, and I think it's time they recognized it and work towards ending it on a high instead of trying to squeeze more out of it.
If anything they should have brought back Paul Walker with the special effects as before. He's what made these movies series worth watching. I honestly could care less about Dom and his past
As much as I love Paul Walker thats not the reason the series went to shit.
Could even argue in 6 they did it for their personal gain. Prettt sure that Hobbs got them to save the world by promising them pardons lol.

Why does no one ever mention that Cena is MIA'S brother too? It's always "Dom's brother". Yeah well Dom and Jacob also have a sister. Remember? She was the one that caused all the trouble for Brian in the first movie? Bad tuna sammiches.
In keeping up with the tradition of wrestlers entering the Fast franchise, ladies and gentlemen Stone Cold Steve Austin will star in F10 as Dom’s distant cousin Tommy Toretto.

Yeah, a LOT has changed over the past 2 decades.
1, 2, 3 and 4 are good not great. But from 5 to 9 mindless action. I don't accept that. Where are the stakes?
The movie studios just can't help themselves. They make em and people pay to watch em. I remember the same thing happened to Aliens, Predator, and Die Hard. They thought they had to keep outdoing the last movie in terms of audacity. They'll reboot FF. It'll be with an ethnic lesbian as the lead.

Giving Diesel control of the franchise killed the franchise
The whole movie made me think that he was out rock the Rock.
They killed the franchise when it stopped being about illegal street racing
It was never about street racing. It's about an undercover cop infiltrating the gang to find out who was behind the truck heist. F&F is more of a crime action film. Not Midnight Club, Need For Speed, Gran Turismo, and Forza Horizon type of things.
@@assembled1855 probably it should have when it tried that in the 3rd installment.

Couldn’t agree more. I really want to see Justin branch out from the franchise.
Tbf he did try with star trek beyond, which while I enjoy I feel the lack of box office put a bit of "stink" on his name which is why he came back to the fast saga, but he has also done a bunch of t.v. pilots and produces them so it could be that hes slightly stuck which is a shame cause I do enjoy his stuff
