You guys really love it when FilmSpeak talks Fast and Furious. After Fast and Furious 9 or F9 KILLED the Fast and Furious Franchise...there was nowhere else to go but straight to hell for Fast X or Fast and Furious 10. Look, I've already accepted the fate of these movies, Fast X is the worst, they've already broken me beyond repair, but somehow...inexplicably...they keep getting worse. The Fast and Furious movies aren't action movies any more, these aren't characters anymore, there's no stakes anymore, the Fast and Furious franchise has become a soulless superhero movie. Simply put, again, the series should've ended with Furious 7. Fast X cements the fact that the Fast and Furious franchise has exhausted all of its good will and is running on fumes. Fast X isn't just a bad movie, it's competing with F9 for the worst fast and furious movie ever and it's because the series has no heart or sense of identity. Even the action simply isn't cutting it anymore since most of it looks artificial. These films used to have weight to them, not only emotionally, but filmmaking-wise too. The craft used to carry the Fast movies to the finish line even when the stories weren't enough. That's no longer the case with Fast X. Fast 10 is nothing more than a overstuffed, convoluted, nightmare of a film that makes for one of the worst blockbusters of its kind I've seen since Transformers 5. Not that it needs much explaining but if you're looking for a Fast X explained video or a Fast X ending explained, we've got you covered with this analysis and Fast X review. Griffin (@griffschiller) explains why the Fast and Furious franchise needs to end after Fast X in his review of Fast and Furious 10. He also explains why Fast X represents the worst tendencies in franchise filmmaking today. He then concludes with why Fast X is the worst and how Fast X destroyed the Fast and Furious franchise. Whether you agree or not, hopefully you enjoy this video essay of how Fast X Broke My Brain! Thanks Vin Diesel!

Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto and his family have outsmarted and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they must confront the most lethal opponent they've ever faced. Fast X is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa, John Cena, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Brie Larson, and Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock.

Not trying to beef with you or anything but I think you look into the F&F movies too much. None of them are "Good" movies, they are made to be fun action movies and they 100% deliver on that. People dont go to see these movies for the plot, they go to see them to see amazing action, and a star-studded cast who have great chemistry together go on adventures and crack jokes.

Furious 7 really was the best place for the series to end as it pretty much tied up all the loose ends. Han’s death was avenged, Letty got her memories back, and Brian and Mia got to retire in peace. It even had multiple callbacks to the first movie, making it feel like a full circle. I still enjoy most of the post-7 movies, but I don’t really consider them canon due to all the retcons they introduce.

In some ways this is not dissimilar, although far more severe to the Pirates Of The Caribbean problem Disney ran into post-At World’s End. Dom Toretto like Jack Sparrow might be the face of the franchise on a commercial level but it was Brian O Connor that was the Will Turner of this franchise. You need the two of them bouncing off each other, the idealistic cop and the veteran criminal. That uneasy relationship that blossomed eventually into friendship was the heart of Fast. You try to go beyond the endpoint of that arc without a suitable counterpoint and you’re essentially watching a group of high tech outlaws voluntarily choose to work for the government that previously hunted them to save the world. The only time that worked for Fast is 7 because they needed something the Government had.

Then there's Brian. I know why Dante can't go after him in real life, but in-story Brian and his kids are vulnerable. Mia is in the new movie, but she doesn't know about Dante's vengeance quest and has no idea their family is in danger before agents break in the door. And I'm pretty sure there's no dialog later where somebody mentions calling Brian to give him a heads up. That's the problem when you want to write a character out, but still use every other character that ever appeared in the series. How do you exclude him specifically?

I will NEVER say the Fast and Furious are quality movies (Although I still feel 1-3 are pretty solid) but I went to go see Fast X with my brother in theatres and had a fucking blast. The rule of the Fast movies for me have always been "turn your brain off and enjoy the ride" because otherwise you're going to be dissecting everything and it will ruin the experience.
Multiple times during the movie my brother and I started going "But how" "What" and thinking and then we'd lean over to each other and go "No. Stop. Don't think about it."
Is that the ideal way to enjoy movies? Probably not. I shouldn't have to turn my brain off. But I'll be fucked if I don't have a fucking blast with these movies when I meet them at their level and don't try to think of them as super high art with a message. They're loud, dumb, messy movies and I have such a soft spot for them now.

Yes there was some kind of down to earth and easy to follow plot including Dom, Brian and Sean, but the man protagoninsts were the cars! Back then each car was iconic and felt like a "character" in the movies. Trying to make the franchise bigger, they moved from street racing and cars to secret intelligence agencies, technology mumbo jumbo, satelites and tons of hacking. Characters became so many, with even more comming back from the dead and it's obvious that the plot can't efficiently use them all. Not knowing what to do next, the franchise collapsed under its' own weight to the point it just got silly, sending cars with duct-taped rockets to space. To sum it all up, if you expect anything remotely "serious" from this franchise i think it's long gone. For me FF got so bad to the point where it's good - same way The Room from Tommy Wiseau is so bad that ends up being good. With this mindset i'll go watch the remaining movies. No expectations whatsoever, i'll just go laugh with whatever weird shit they come up with, followed by cringy lines. If there is one thing i'm expecting, and knowing that Vin Diesel will surely try to recreate the equivalent of "Avengers Assemble" scene as a big ending for the franchise, is to see Brian comming back one last time.

F9 seemed to lean juuuuuusssttt a bit too much into wink-wink territory for me and Fast X, imo, walked it back a little and the action felt more "grounded" for the lack of a better word.

That's irreplaceable and will affect every movie after Furious Seven but it's not a problem they have any way to fix other than to stop making these movies or trying to force Dom into another relationship like that with anyone else. Also, the emotional weight Furious Seven had was compounded by the knowledge everyone had going into the film that the goodbye to Brian was not just a goodbye to the character but a goodbye to Paul from Vin and it always seemed that their brotherhood carried over from screen to real life which added an authenticity to the on screen relationship. Brian/Paul is the missing piece that, unfortunately, is not coming back.

-Retcons up the yin-yang(Dante Reyes is a villain that is also a retcon and shouldn't exist).

-John Cena's character(who is also a retcon) has a different personality from F9.

Finally seeing people sharing the same thoughts. I always think Paul's Brian was the fitting main character, and diesel's being the mentor that sometimes saved the day. It doesn't work to center around Dom, it made his character a blend of a mentor with the struggles of thd student, you can't just throw all the typical character development issues onto one single character, even worse a mentor/leader character. The story would be better with Brian gradually becoming the leader and Dom retires, not the other way around. It's like Simon and Kamina situation for those that know Gurenn Lagann. Really does say a lot when the only thing I loved about Fast X is when Dom was looking at those old photos in his garage and the See You Again instrumental kicks in and also when Dom saved Elena's sister Isabella and gave the cop and a street racer have a lot in common speech.

The Fate of the Furious is your favorite F&F movie? Interesting, you're gonna need a video explaining why it's your favorite. To me, Furious 7 is my favorite in the franchise.

F8 is awesome in ways you wouldn't understand anyway. F8 was good over the top action, while F9 went TOO over the top. FX is already better and just as awesome as Fast Five, they really learned their lesson from 9.

@@MrMonsterKen I liked 8 as well it's just that I never thought it would be someone's favorite F&F movie.

@@frozenthingsstudios2452 Well, there are some viewpoints where they point out the stinkers of the franchise, as well as somethings worth watching, based on how much of a good thrill ride it is, and not entitled to ones concept.

This is really funny to me, F8 is my favorite which surprised me but I guess it is. Mostly cause of the beginning of it being so good. Furious 7 is my least favorite (obviously still like the ending and all everyone else loves too the music, tbh a lot of other things I loved but they were mostly aesthetic tbh) cause I couldn't deal with the cringey writing, idk what went wrong but a lot of the writing specially the jokes are just so cringe it's just bad and painful (only slightly less painful than all the women's bodies shoved in our faces, and not a single man's ass except for that one flight attendant... Uh. Ok that's an issue of the film industry not these movies in particular lol they're allowed to exist as long as others make up for it)

I'm gonna get killed for this but Hobbs and Shaw is probably my favourite Fast and Furious franchise film. The main story though it would probably be the first one.

'Fate' of the Furious was movie 8, yet they just released Weapon X and there's apparently 2 more movies after that. That would be 5 movies after 'fate' was supposed to occur, yet it was just Shaw making nice with Dom just 1 movie after being the villian and Dom discoverying he's a dad.
    What fate?

I honestly believe they keep making these movies because vin deisel can’t get any other roles. That’s why he was trying to manipulate the rock into coming back

Just gonna be honest, would love to review something with you someday. 😂 Also, yeah Fast X was painful. Feels like once the movie started “embracing its own memes” with 9, something was lost. The genuine nature of it it just feels gone.

9's memery is nothing short of glorious on the part of both the Internet and the film producers

The franchise died at 7 with Paul Walker he was the heart and soul and a true car guy and had the most development Vin has not evolved and has been the same character since Fast Five and it just got too over the top and it wasnt fun anymore and it has no stakes they keep bringing back dead characters and no one really gets hurt there just doing it for money and because they know they have nothing else franchise just keeps getting worse as it goes along

I'd even go as far as to say that Dom has devolved over the years, becoming a parody of himself (just like the franchise has after Furious 7)
