@@zephy936you might be right but I sincerely hope that someone talked to him about it afterwards (not that poor interviewer, I hope she didn’t have to interact with him any more than that) because it’s super important for him to learn that he was not being nice, just creepy. I’ve met a few people like that, one of whom became a good friend of mine. He wasn’t this creepy but he did act overly affectionate and it made me uncomfortable. I got up the nerve to mention it to him and explained that I hate being touched and need some personal space, and he was immediately understanding and apologetic and never got in my personal space again (and I noticed he was more mindful of personal space around our other friends too). Not everyone would have been so good about it- a lot of people would get defensive- but there’s a lot of genuinely good people who really don’t realize they come across a certain way, and will work to fix it if someone calls them on it. I myself am autistic and while no one has ever told me I’m creepy, they have occasionally mentioned a behavior that bothered them and it was extremely useful to me to know that so that I could change for the better.
Tbh, no clue if Vin Diesel is the sort of person to try and change his behavior if he was called on it- all I know about him is this video- but hopefully he is.
Also, just a friendly reminder for anyone reading this: if someone makes you uncomfortable, you don’t have to call them on it. I was able to talk to the person in this particular situation in a safe place (a classroom with only about nine students, one of whom was a friend to both of us already and helped me out) and was certain that I would not be in danger or anything, but if you aren’t sure about a situation, please prioritize your safety and wellbeing.
