@@teehee6372 Yea, even Drew said he isn't sure he really feels bad for the Olsen twins, because they are billionaires. How could you not feel bad for them after learning about their life and seeing how much it has affected them?? Being a billionaire can't buy you a childhood. It can't buy love or acceptance.... There is so much more than just financial problems, and I find it incredibly naive and small minded when people dismiss the idea that rich people can struggle just as much as everyone else. What if a rich person was horribly raped, and the whole reason they have so much money is from the settlement?? What if someone inherited their wealth, but their family was loveless, cruel and abusive? People fantasize about being rich as though that would solve all their problem, so I think they invalidate the suffering of rich people, specifically to maintain the illusion that if they could just make more money, they would be happy. At least then they have hope, though they will never truly address the cause of their unhappiness.
The irony of that stupid song they sing here is they probably really couldn't wait until they were grown up just so they could be out of the control of their slave driver parents and agents (the same people, I'm pretty sure). I feel so gross and sad because I know all these songs by heart and was a member of that stupid Fun Club myself, I'm only a couple years younger than them and I literally wanted to be them when I was in like kindergarten and first grade. I watched all of these videos over and over and thought they had the coolest lives ever because I was a kid who couldn't tell fiction from reality. And at that same age, they were kids who had every bit of their lives controlled and didn't know anything else. I'm being super melodramatic here it might seem like, but yeah when I saw that first ever episode of fuller house, which is the only one I ever watched, where every single cast member simultaneously breaks the fourth wall to shame "Michelle" for not coming back to the show and the studio audience cheers and laughs for a literal minute straight, I'm just like... How fucking dare you.
I think the story of a devoted young fan establishing a website to warn others about the Fun Club while attempting to form their own fan club is pretty much the cutest thing in history.
I also thought it was cute until I saw the website and demanded it be nuked from orbit by a world ended because of how much a crime against web design it was.
I can't imagine how much they must resent their parents for taking away their childhood while letting the rest of their siblings have a somewhat normal one.
@Se Se if you didn’t have a normal childhood (and possibly trauma according to another comment thread) but you had a lot of money would all of your problems be solved? No. Money can buy a bit of happiness, but it can’t solve every issue ever
Plot twist: drew is actually their brother but they sold him and that’s why he looks so much like them And then that inspired the song, brother for sale.
"they're children here and I think they're doing a good job of being children" is the nicest thing you can really say about a lotta child actors I love it.
It was infuriating hearing John Stamos’ snide remarks about the twins not returning for fuller house....then he turns around and supports Lori after she used her celebrity to screw over thousands of promising college applicants. Stay golden Olsens!
kidneythief91 he’s just mad cuz he’s not the big draw, they are. EVERYONE wanted to know if the twins were coming back to play Michelle...it’s all anyone could talk about.
As I know from his interviews, Macaulay Culkin didn’t choose to act. He was 4-5 when he ‘started’ the business. Also he had an abusive father, mentally and physically. He said he didn’t want to do it anymore, but his father never heard him. If Richie Rich wasn’t a flop, he wouldn’t get to chance to get out from the spotlight. Being a big child star must be hard. You get treated like this and then become the example of “What’s wrong with the child stars?” I don’t even want to talk about the pedophiles in the industry. Disgusting.
Thankfully, Mack gets to pick on Rich Evans now in order to feel better about himself. In all seriousness, good on him for turning his life around. He seems to be doing well.
I know I couldn’t stop thinking about how creepy it could’ve been with the fan club, especially with the cruises. I bet they dealt with pedophiles all the time
Im glad mack is getting his life back together now. Hes doing good now that he is back to being a 'normal celebrity' and is out of the spotlight. He looked fine on try not to laugh for smosh
i swear... maybe new born pictures are okay because at that point they still resemble a potato more than anything else, but beyond age 1 when they begin to develop a facial structure and their own personalities and likings, if a famous parent is shoving their kid into the limelight just because they can, thats downright horrible
i used to watch this couple’s channel when i was younger, i can’t remember what it’s called but i’ll come back and edit this comment if i remember, they did typical kinda basic couple stuff, how to’s on different foods, showed the guy fixing cars, similar to the stauffer’s without being terrible, and when they had a baby, instead of shoving a camera in their face and using the kid for money, they never even revealed a name or gender, just were like “yo we had a baby and they exist now and pls don’t ask questions about our baby cause it’s our baby” didn’t think much of it as a kid but that’s definitely how youtubers and celebrities should go about with their kids. not everyone has to do beat by beat what they did, just don’t exploit your kid for views and money
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell don't show the press their kids faces. They always cover the kids faces on social media with one of those effect stickers or something so they can post family pictures but still retain the children's privacy.
In that interview the girls literally had eye bags under their eyes, they looked so tired and like they didn't want to be there. How can you let your child go through with that and be okay with it? Edit: Also I find it interesting how you look up their mother and not a lot is known about her outside of her children because she keeps a private life. How fucked is that, give yourself a private life while your children slave away making you money
It's funny that people like to say "money can't buy happiness" and yet whenever a person with money talks about being unhappy people are like "oh shut up, you've got money, you're so lucky"
Ya for some reason people think money=happiness. Money cant prevent you from dying, injury, debilitating illnesses, or from family and friends dying or getting injured, or mental health problems, or addictions that harm yourself as well as relationships. Look at all the wealthy people who've committed suicide or who are bitter and lonely. Money allows you more freedom and security but it doesn't correlate with happiness or joy.
I don’t know why people are convinced that money fixes everything bad that happens to a person in life. I’m pretty broke and even I know money simply can’t fix some problems
Imagine being a mom or dad, having beautiful twin girls and then thinking 'hell yeah... we can make so much money off of these two 😈' how despicable is that?
@@nickb322 They weren't even one yet on their first episode of full house. The people who made the show specifically got twins because of child labor laws.
Honestly I'm really confused about their fame. They were literally just young children that people decided were super important to pop culture?? I feel like having a fan club for two eight year olds is kind of gross
Same as literally putting two kids on a boat with hundreds of other obsessive kids/those kids obsessed parents/adults who want to be close with the twins and shipping them out to sea.... Doesn't sit right. We saw what happened when the Paul brothers address was leaked, parents encouraged kids to take chunks out of the wall as souvenirs. I can't and don't want to imagine how awful the parents were at encouraging their kids to break rules to attempt to be friends with the twins, or steal what little possessions they had as souvenirs. And the creepy adults who went to get close to them, I don't want to even think about thinking about that.
Kinyamadege __ i always assumed they meant like “she has the cute nose” but what if it was really like one of them being like “yeah she’s the one who was stuck with that ugly fucking honker lol what a loser im sure everyone NOSE her for that nose”
It always irks me when I see people online belittling the plight of child stars because they have money. A happy childhood is something that no amount of money can buy. It's a time of your life that fundamentally shapes you and determines the course of the rest of your life.
Pretty much all young child stars, mostly girls, deal with some sort of eating disorder. Candace, their costar, suffered with an eating disorder as well. Imagine growing up with billions of eyes on you, judging every little thing you do, judging you through your teenage years when you're going through the hell that is puberty. Obviously, any of us would be slightly damaged individuals after all of that. Their parents clearly milked all the money they could while they were under age and under their power. Fucked up thing to do, but when it comes to money, people will put their children through absolute hell.
i think it’s weird how people compare them to their other sister who got famous older and go ‘well she’s so well adjusted’ yeah not being famous as a toddler can do that.
The childhood thing really bugged me. Every emotional problem that you have as an adult is stemmed from your childhood, even a trillion dollars could not heal the psychological damage of a bad childhood
I mean, if you’re parents are inconsiderate enough to use you as circus animals, it’s not like other aspects of your life is gonna be great either cuz that also includes the same parents ruining your life, so you might as well make some money while at it.
Camille Lawliet Yeah, that's true, but it's like buying new shoes when you burned your feet by walking on hot charcoal with your old pair of shoes. Good therapy won't delete from their memory all the years of stress and pain that the parents put them through, it will just help the twins have more chances to be happy in the future. It's still not worth to traumatize your kids for money just because you can pay for their therapy.
Conraderson I mean, oftentimes, trauma you experience as an adult is from situations that you’ve gotten into because of your trauma/problems from childhood, even if you don’t realize it until after. Childhood trauma leads to adults trauma which leads to new trauma. Lol. I suppose in some cases trauma can be novel, like a car accident or something, but even then, the way you respond to the car crash will be influenced by your childhood/emotional patterns. It’s an interesting question.
The problem is they were way too young to know they were being overworked, over-exposed, and commercialized. It makes me want to punch every adult that defended this by saying “oh, they’re just having fun all the time! Look how happy they are!” There was probably gaslighting
In our country, labor laws on child celebrities are super strict. It's so crazy to see the Olsen twins doing so much work for their age and basically providing for the family.
For real. My shitty childhood lacked the $$$ factor but I can honestly say that wouldn't have helped. In fact, that would have just left us traumatized AND unable to deal with reality because of being protected from it by privilege and we'd have ended up even more fucked up as adults.
People who say "you're a billionaire so you're not allowed to feel sad" piss me the hell off... it makes it sound as though money solves all their problems.
@@sarasthoughts yeah but you wouldn’t be getting money. You’d feel even more dehumanized as your shown off like a product, an object, void of any free will. You won’t be allowed to grow up and deal with these traumas because there’s a price tag on your head and millions of people are now breathing down your back. How could you break that cycle/who would l e t you break away if that traumatizing situation gave people all of the financial support that they need. it’s going to the thousands of people that are hired to work with you, your parents, your managers/agents, or those that basically control and profit off of your image. I don’t think one is worse than the other! I think we’d all agree that having zero childhood trauma is much more preferable
Ikr, people want money so bad that they hate people who have a lot of it. It really sucks for those people because a lot of the time they either worked to get where they were or started young and didn't have a lot of choice. It's honestly pretty ridiculous how a bunch of the people saying things like "money can't buy happiness" are the ones doing this kind of stuff, as well as other topics like bullying and stuff. Like, how desperately bored do you have to be to be a genuinely good person and also do things like attack people just because of the amount of money in their bank account?
I keep rewatching this video over the years. It's one of my favorite youtube videos for some reason. It has the perfect "clickbait", delivers on that clickbait, and then swerves into a message that is completely relevant and so unbelievably well said. My heart sinks every time it gets to the reveal of what the video is actually about.
I get that they’re millionaires, but I feel so sorry for them. Their childhoods were taken away from them and they didn’t get to enjoy their lives without constantly being watched, reported on and criticised. I don’t blame them for choosing to mostly avoid the spotlight now. I do find it quite funny that Mary-Kate and Ashley retired from acting and then their younger sister, Elizabeth, ends up starring in the highest grossing film ever and is playing the strongest character in such a brilliant and immensely popular film franchise.
Sad, (almost) everyone deserves at least some sympathy. Reminds me of my older sister and me but the other way round. I have an abusive Muslim mother, and when my sister was young she never pressured her to wear a hijab or really do anything, now she moved out and she completely went turbo on me telling me to clean the house 24/7 (waking me up in the middle of the night), tricking and guilt-tripping me into wearing a hijab when I was seven etc So idk guess the parents gave her a choice to be an actor or not, when the twins didn't.
I remember reading or hearing somewhere one of them being interviewed about Elizabeth starting to act, and saying that shes a better actor than they ever were because she is actually passionate about it and wasn't forced to work her whole life. They were super supportive of her but it was also really depressing because they were clearly resentful that she got to be a normal kid doing what she wanted and in turn gets to be a normal adult pursuing what she wants.
I'm just kinda scared that Elizabeth could've been kinda forced too, of course she seems to extremely love acting but i wonder that If she didn't like acting, would she be forced? I heard their parents are really greedy, and if they noticed they fucjed up with the twins they probably wanted a second try, of course Elizabeth could've just liked acting and could've been inspired by her sisters, for now we can only speculate but I feel so sorry for the twins, it's hard to live like that
@@spitsoup911 I saw one of the documentaries of Mary kate and Ashley. There are still laws attached to it. That's why most teen shows use actors who are at least 18. Child characters also use a lot of body doubles and face-obscuring camera tricks to get around the limited time they are allowed to work.

It’s interesting how their younger sister who didn’t have as much fame and acting experience as a kid, became a much better actor, because she CHOSE acting herseld
Uhh to be fair, the twins got roles that were based more off real life and kind of supposed to be like it was really them. Nothing spectacular, compared to acting like an insane and traumatized young woman with godlike powers in a marvel film.
I had this tape as a kid and this video awoke some extremely old memories. Like I remember the "brother for sale" song getting stuck in my mom's head constantly and she would always sing it. I'm so sorry mom
This just made me feel super sorry for the Olsen twins. However they turning that bullshit childhood around into being billionaire CEOs is baller af and fair play to them. They deserve to be out of the limelight, they don’t owe anyone anything when fame wasn’t their decision imo.

@@lolom8772 yeah I’m pretty sure that’s what they’re doing so props to them, screw the people online being awful, screw their parents, and screw fuller house for being awful and taking constant jabs at them on the show.
I feel like they’re a less extreme Truman. They were thrown into a life they didn’t want, and got extremely wealthy and famous for it. But they didn’t want the life, didn’t choose it, which is extremely important. Look at their sister; she chose to act and seems much more well adjusted than the twins. They stepped out of the spotlight but can’t ever fully escape it.
The dehumanization is sickening tbh. Like, sure, being a millionaire must be great, but imagine having to work like an adult since you were like what? 4? Yeah, Lisa, I don't think it's your place to judge when you probably had a fairly normal childhood and the only thing resembling acting you probably did at that age, was a shitty school play where you had to memorise like four lines. @@annabrodkey3944 Can't imagine the psychological damage but to some extent I get it. That's child abuse, I've been through that. Even if it doesn't hurt you physically, it fucks you up psychologically for life.
This is why I don’t trust A LOT of those family channels. It’s hard to tell which ones are genuine, but some of the more obvious ones make me want to punch the parents. Like, don’t turn your kids into money bags parents. Cherish their childhood and let them live. Also, I hate the comments from the Karen’s talking about how the Olsen’s shouldn’t complain about their childhood because they’re rich. That’s a red flag.
This!! We need to have regulations and protections for child actors. I feel like RUclips should also crack down on these family channels using their kids as props.
@@NylaTheWolf Yes! There should at the very least be laws protecting youtube children like child actors (aka setting aside wages for the children since it's THEIR money) but really it should be prohibited to display your child like that on a social platform.
The problem with that is that some children have dreams to become an actor. I agree that being a baby is not how old you should be when you get yourself into it but if it's their choice then parents should try to adapt. (The Olsen twins are an example of what not to do)
Well, there is a third sister. You might know her as Scarlet Witch in the Marvel movies. Seriously Elizabeth Olsen is their sister. Funny how the sister kept out of acting is now the actress.
First, I thought one of them was Wanda from the MCU. 17:25 After hearing they stopped acting, I thought I was wrong. Then, I learned that they have a younger sister who IS indeed Wanda.
My friend had this first mary-Kate and Ashley video and to this day I remember that “mispronounced word” song. It was about plurals and they talk about meese instead of moose and we thought it was freakin hilarious 🤣
Instead of saying “money can’t buy you happiness” I like to say “money can buy you a more comfortable miserable” because yes, money can definitely sets people at an advantage or disadvantage, however at the end of the day it can’t solve every underlying issue of every problem
JayLeeBeanz yet money itself creates its own set of problems. Personally I think the only true way to find happiness is to not rely on one thing to grant it. When you have that thing and you are still unhappy it can be crushing for some people

So I'm 19. I was born in 1999. As a child, my mother would sing the stupid peanut butter song to try and get me to eat PB&J sandwiches. Never would I have imagined that she stole it from these two.
She didn't steal it from these two. First place I ever heard it was in the 80s (and it was better as it contained all the actual lyrics :P ) and was performed by Sharon Lois and Bram.
Bro I Sail(ed) With The Stars with Mary-Kate and Ashley when I was 9 and it was the best experience of my life. Probably wasn’t so great tho for the other half of people on the ship who had no idea that 400 nine year olds would be partying around the pools every night. Because yeah it was both a normal cruise and a cruise with the Olsen twins.
As of right now, this vid is 4 years old, and when he said “2016” around here 7:28 I was like “oh ok, that checks out, there was probably still time for him to sign up and maybe he even made a video about it” so I checked the post date and the 2018 in the description slugged me in the back of the head and stole my kneecaps
I like to compare them to their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen! Elizabeth had a more normal childhood, now she's getting big roles and does a lot of interviews. In those interviews she quite down to earth, open and has a sunny personality. Compare that to her older sisters, who rarely do interviews and can come across quite cold, and only talk about the subject that their came to talk about. I think it really shows how growing up in the spotlight (without your choice) can have a negative impact.
anyone else think mysterious phone calls that just say things like “please enter your security code” are the creepiest but also most interesting thing?
They had and have eating disorders because of the beauty and Hollywood industry pressures and need for control in their life. That's why they look so sick and bizarre.
That makes no sense. Theyve been out of the spotlight and out of showbiz completely since way before they grew up. Cant use that excuse. Theyre just mentally fucked. And have eating disorders. Not becsuse of showbiz but because they just have disorders
Matt Petty just because they’re out of the spotlight now doesn’t undo the years of overworking and abuse and pressure shoved on them from the start of their lives. That all planted the seed for their disorders. Leaving the spotlight would only help keep them from new mental trauma, but wouldn’t remove the ones that already exist.
@@yakketyyak6414 You are likely right. They've been massively traumatized. Doesn't just go away because they aren't acting anymore. What they were exposed to, what they internalized... Having to put makeup on as kids hundreds if not thousands of times, is for sure teaching them that their natural beauty isn't sufficient. Also, not to mention your point of control. They had ZERO control from day one. When they were at the ages that opinions can be formed, they were not allowed to have them. So they were pushing them inside themselves. ED's are mostly about control and if anyone had a lack of it it's these girls. I feel awful for them, I hope they have gotten help.
Matt Petty idk if anyone has told you this but trauma can stem from childhood and stick with you for life.
So true! But also, wouldn't it be cool if they got Elizabeth Olsen to play Michelle?

The childhood thing really bugged me. Every emotional problem that you have as an adult is stemmed from your childhood, even a trillion dollars could not heal the psychological damage of a bad childhood
Sabrexi i mean good therapy does help and it can be bought
What about emotional problems arising from traumas you experienced after you childhood? Is that somehow stemmed from your childhood?
Conraderson I mean, oftentimes, trauma you experience as an adult is from situations that you’ve gotten into because of your trauma/problems from childhood, even if you don’t realize it until after. Childhood trauma leads to adults trauma which leads to new trauma. Lol. I suppose in some cases trauma can be novel, like a car accident or something, but even then, the way you respond to the car crash will be influenced by your childhood/emotional patterns. It’s an interesting question.

How could you break that cycle/who would l e t you break away if that traumatizing situation gave people all of the financial support that they need.
it’s going to the thousands of people that are hired to work with you, your parents, your managers/agents, or those that basically control and profit off of your image.

I have an abusive Muslim mother, and when my sister was young she never pressured her to wear a hijab or really do anything, now she moved out and she completely went turbo on me telling me to clean the house 24/7 (waking me up in the middle of the night), tricking and guilt-tripping me into wearing a hijab when I was seven etc
So idk guess the parents gave her a choice to be an actor or not, when the twins didn't.

Yeah, Lisa, I don't think it's your place to judge when you probably had a fairly normal childhood and the only thing resembling acting you probably did at that age, was a shitty school play where you had to memorise like four lines.
I can't imagine what everything must've been for them, but I doubt everything was as nice as everyone thinks it was. I genuinely feel sorry for them.
They actually started working when they were 6 months old, that's when they started on full house. And they never stopped working!

Kevin Davidson the david dude’s videos are so scripted

Brice Murrie yea I knew that it is kind of funny how she’s now probably the most famous
First, I thought one of them was Wanda from the MCU.
17:25 After hearing they stopped acting, I thought I was wrong.
Then, I learned that they have a younger sister who IS indeed Wanda.
I thought too
Me too😅
They were horribly abused as kids. The casting couch applies to child stars too, unfortunately.
I wouldn't wish their childhoods on anyone.

I don’t think they would be offended
I think they’d be proud of their little sister 🥰
Relieved. They chose to leave acting because they didn’t want to be the center of attention anymore...
Probably uncomfortable or relieved, mostly uncomfortable though just because I think they wanna be a normal person.

Instead of saying “money can’t buy you happiness” I like to say “money can buy you a more comfortable miserable” because yes, money can definitely sets people at an advantage or disadvantage, however at the end of the day it can’t solve every underlying issue of every problem
Actually money can buy happiness when the cost is not as high as your childhood or privacy

JayLeeBeanz i feel the same. money can buy temporary happiness, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing
JayLeeBeanz yet money itself creates its own set of problems. Personally I think the only true way to find happiness is to not rely on one thing to grant it. When you have that thing and you are still unhappy it can be crushing for some people

Their faces look miserable in a lot of these shots. Like their being forced to do it.
Stay-at-home Mama Bear kind of makes you think about why both of them refuse to have anything to do with the full house reboot.
Stay-at-home Mama Bear exactly why they stay out of the spotlight now
They're*
Yeah. Maybe they’re being forced to do it
Because they were and were being molested by multiple people
I like to compare them to their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen!
I don’t think being private is a negative thing... oversharing or talking too much about yourself can also be considered negative...

Drew: It's about how they look the same and how they are two different people.
sounds like a really good idea for a song and a tour huh
@@TheLastApostle I don't think you understand how trauma works. That stuff stays with you for life
Matt Petty idk if anyone has told you this but trauma can stem from childhood and stick with you for life. Doesn’t matter if it’s been a long time, and also disorders like that usually express themselves by some kind of trauma. They usually don’t just appear out of nowhere, likely there’s some kind of influence that maybe you don’t see as traumatic but definitely is

Edit: Wow I didnt realize this video is a year and a half old.. RUclips recs why are you like this
There's a channel called Life where I'm from. It's about a Canadian who lives in Japan and when his children were younger they liked to appear on the channel and as they've grown up they stopped appearing. And people kept asking why and in a video they said that it was simply because they didn't want to anymore. And I think it's cool that their dad was just fine with that
