I LOVE coats, but I’ve lived much of my life in the American South, and even in “winter” months I seldom need anything really warm. The weather here is so fickle. Is it going to be 80 degrees at Christmas? Twenty degrees? We never know! It occurred to me a few years ago that my coats were in my CAR. I would have them with me in case I had car trouble and had to walk, but I seldom actually WORE them. I sold the heaviest ones, and have several lighter weight ones now. I do LOVE the look of a long “teddy” coat! That chocolate brown one you featured is so beautiful! I just would get no wear out of it. Darn the bad geography! 😂
I just got two beautiful new winter coats from Banana Republic. It’s one style, but I ordered it in both available colors - navy and beige/camel. I chose these because they have no polyester, or other synthetic content. They are 90% wool and 10% cashmere and are lined with breathable rayon, not polyester, a difficult thing to find nowadays. It’s absolutely gorgeous and will keep me warm in any weather. It’s quite long and a wrap-style and is generously cut in the body and arms for wearing thick layers underneath. I wouldn’t normally order two coats at a time, but because of a significant size change (from 16 to 6 US), have had to replace my older wardrobe this year.I’ve never had to do so much shopping, ever, before. Fortunately, there are a lot of great classics to love this season and I’m finally finding the plastic-free fabrics I need. These are mid-range at $500 US each, but the high quality and style justify the price. There are many designer coats at ten times this price, but that’s just paying for a fancy label, there is a quality ceiling, after all. A $5,000 coat isn’t 10 x better than this $500 one. In fact, most designer coats are unlined, but a good lining is so important to cut the cold wind. On the cheaper side, poly or a blend with just a little wool isn’t warm at all, but will make one sweat, especially the polyester lining! I buy my wardrobe items to wear for life, they have to be high quality.
I have to be very careful with coats... I don't like for them to feel like I'm carrying extreme weight on my back... I perfer to keep the weight moderate to light and layer a little if needed... Great video...😊

The longer the better, for a winter coat, IMHO, so long as it doesn’t touch the ground. I’m petite and a current long coat hits around my ankles, perfect. I wear mostly skirts and dresses, so the extra length is important to stay warm, even with the boots and tights I wear.
I pretty much have the coats covered and I really like outer wear. It would be great to have a bright colorful wool coat. I did get a red one second hand and I have a trench car coat in pink and a pale yellow one. I am so overjoyed that I finally been able to collect some real leathers while thrifting. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now.

I see you're enjoying J.Crew clothing, too! They really have evolved. I bought their Mari Giudicelli X J.Crew leather PANTS that match the Carob JACKET #3 that you showed. The pants are amazing and have sold out at least twice now. I see the jacket (also on their second restock) is nearly sold out again.

I’m not a moto jacket fan, although I do have some, but I love genuine leather blazers and fitted coats. Skirts, too, especially in suede. I just got a beautiful khaki-green (mini) one from Wrap, London, and it has a breathable rayon lining (I wouldn’t spend that much on a leather item with a plastic lining).

I totally agree that a $5k coat isn’t 10 times better than a $500 one - you’re generally just paying for the name 😩
