    The great thing for petites with the “Regular” size ankle pant is they are the perfect length without having to employ a Taylor. Yeah!

    Thank you for all the great style tips. Really lovely. I love the metallic sweaters and of course the sweater vests. I have a couple of fairisle ones that i bought in the 90’s think I’ll drag them out. I also had a long coat with a attached scarf but won’t tell you how long ago that was😮

    After searching for years, I finally found some Fair Isle sweaters I love this autumn, it wasn’t easy because I can’t wear anything with synthetic fibers in it. I got a cotton one and a cashmere one from LL Bean, and a cashmere one in beautiful multi-neutrals from Bloomingdale’s Aqua Cashmere line, which often has more interesting choices than just the usual solid colors (of which I have enough). The three are all quite different in color-ways and look. Fair Isle sweaters have been a lifelong favorite of mine, and they are very in line with the popular English Country style I like for casual outdoor activities. I also bought two, Club Monaco, more-interesting (but not Fair Isle) cashmere sweaters, an ivory one with contrast taupe trim and one in neutral stripes, in the Polo, collared V-neck style that is my favorite. For solid colors, Quince has great, fairly-priced cashmere ones in dark colors, but Banana Republic has the light-colored ones I love most, at twice the price. Banana Republic is killing the competition with their great modern classic styles, quality construction and fine natural fabrics, they got the lion’s share of the purchases for my new wardrobe this year. Lily Silk also has great wool and cashmere options, including the white-on-navy stripe one I was looking for, and some cute diamond-patterned ones. (No brand affiliations, not an influencer, just a consumer).

      I couldn’t agree more about Banana Republic and Lilysilk!!! I haven’t heard about Quince before so I will def check them out thx Kimberly!

    My favorite “lady-jacket” or “Chanel-style jacket” is the Betty cardigan from Sezane in wool. The have the round neck, but also the collar I love. Their comfort is unbeatable; I always prefer a knit blazer or other jacket if I have to spend all day indoors in a cold environment. As much as I adore structured blazers, they are just not as comfy, so I wear them more for in-and-out of building days in spring and autumn. Most brands have some versions of this trendy, but classic jacket style. As with all classic trends, I buy them in the best quality while they’re hot and wear them forever.

    Loved your examples and advice. I have a couple of maxi pleated skirts that I’ll have fun trying out your suggestions with. I also have a black alpaca wool cape with an attached scarf. I love layering it over my fall outfits as it adds warmth when needed but easy to carry around when not worn.

    I love a sweater vest. So good for layering over a shirt and under a blazer without too much bulk around your arms and shoulders.
    I have already bought the Mango silver jumper - number 12. It's the first time you have featured something I own! It comes up really big though. Initially I orderd the medium and large to try but had to send them back for a small. (I'm a UK 12.) Im looking forward to wearing it when it gets a bit colder. The jumper is quite thick and warm!

    The trends I love, too, are also the ones with staying power. Mostly this means essentially the more classic-based trends and colors I love, and in the best quality I can afford. I just had to buy a whole new wardrobe, but I tried to buy for life; I hope I don’t have to do this again! At 63, I don’t want to have to keep buying things every few years because they look outdated.

    • @Thestyleinsider.
      @Thestyleinsider.  10 месяцев назад

      That's a great approach Kimberly! Investing in classic-based trends and quality pieces is not only a smart way to build a wardrobe, but it also saves you from constantly buying new things.

    Hey Leonie, I can so relate because I got into my 60s and my skin just became a raisin and just won't stay moisturized. I love my crop jeans in all format skinny, straight or wide leg because just like you said my shoes need to show off. Saving up for Karen's amazon drop cargo skirts and depending on the price would like to get a matching top with one of them so I will have a set. #25 is missing a link or a brand name. This is the coat I am missing (got major moth damage 10 years ago), and I have been looking to replace it for years. You are providing and keeping the inspiration for us going tight for this season keeping it stylish videos and everything just looks comfortable to. I do have a brown wool tweed midi length heavy coat (no tags, but if homemade they did an excellent job) that has a matching scarf and also belt, it was thrifted for $10. This was one of my great finds, when I first got into major thrifting. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now!

      I hope it's not too big as I had to go a size up due to my size being sold out. But, if it's too big, I could probably just wear it over one of my Lily Silk 100% cashmere turtlenecks.

    Loved your outfit Leonie, looks great on you!
    I have a fairisle jumper I love and a cardi that’s gorgeous in earthy tones which has lasted years. I just got a couple of chanel type cardis, one cream and navy stripe, one navy in cotton. Loving them with my black maxi denim skirt and knee length boots for autumn. Boots and skirt will not be warm enough for me in the height of winter (severe here) but great with leggings now so I’m stretching out the skirt season to the max. Pardon the pun.

    Cropped jeans + winter = cold ankles!!
    Plus if you are really tall, cropped is less ankle, more mid shin.
    I buy ‘regular height women’s full length’ jeans as they are ankle length on me.
    But UK winters are cold so I won’t be ditching my full length trousers

    I wish I liked the way I look in pleated Maxi skirts, they're so pretty! But I'm short & a thicker hourglass & I don't feel very pretty in them, same goes for cardigans. I feel very frumpy, like I'm wearing an old lady's house jacket. I know they've been in for a while, but I just can't jump on that train..

      @Thestyleinsider.  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Thestyleinsider. That's possible, but there's something about it that still feels trying too hard to be trendy, because 20 years ago cardis & twin set cardis was a thing, I wore them, and I guess the cycle of trends is roughly 20 years?? I think It brings me back too far & it just doesn't feel right any longer.
