I really enjoyed this video. If I had one comment it would add the names of the coats when showing / comparing them. I found it a difficult to always follow that and had to go back to check the names/composition of the coats several times

I like the coats from Excess Only, they’re 100% wool or wool/cashmere, fully lined with breathable rayon and button all the way up. I find this last feature is essential for keeping warm, a deep V opening in front lets in the cold wind, even with a scarf. Unlined coats are too difficult to don and doff, especially over knits or other wool clothes. I also like a fuller skirt portion, so that it doesn’t pull open when I walk. I had a mile of walking at each end of my bus commute during my career, in the winter cold and dark both ways, so a warm coat and boots were essential. It’s tough to find all these features, my Dior Coat that I wore for my whole career set these standards for me. I still wear it decades later, it looks brand-new. I choked a bit at the purchase price, but it became an incredibly good value to me because of its quality, functionality and beauty.
Long coats are so stylish but I find that when in snow country or extreme weather (cold, wind, snow rain), a long puffer is a better option. I have yet seen a snowmobile rider wearing a long wool coat in Minnesota 😆
Haven’t watched to the end yet, but personally I avoid belted overcoats because too many give me the “bathrobe” look. I prefer an overcoat which looks more formal and dresses up an outfit, and it has to look great when done up (it’s a winter piece!).
I saw your old review of The Curated Classic Coat, so it's nice seeing a side-by-side comparison of that one to the London Coat and the Sezane Mederick coat. I love those styles!

I love the look of wool coats. Unfortunately it's more of a transition piece where I live. Most of the winter I just wear giant puffer coats, looking like the Michelin man 😂

Wow loved that so much. My fave ones on you were the Navy blue and the green one, love the colours so much!! I had a green coat for years but it got so worn out I had to part with it. You have a great selection!! I have 3 coats a Navy very similar to yours, no collar, no buttons, double faced wool with a wrap belt. Next is a Houndstooth in Navy and brown, long with shoulder pads and nice deep pockets. I never button up a coat because I always wear layers and a scarf and gloves😂 my last one is beige wool it's mostly wool, it actually looks like I'm wearing a sheep!! I love it so much, it makes me happy. I wear when it's minus figures. Rounded collar, drop shoulders and deep pockets!! This is why I follow you Helen I live for that detail!! You have a wonderful curated collection. UK is cold most of the year so the coats I have get a lot of wear. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge😘😘

I really appreciate this well organized information. I'm petite and have been searching for a wool coat for a long time. I'm sure I've seen you style some of your coats with midi/maxi skirts somewhere along the way. It would be great to see how these look in that regard as well.

Another brilliant and timely video!! A thing that bothers me about wool coats is the weight.. i have bad shoulders and heavy coats make me uncomfortable. Would you advise the lightest coat out of all these 7? Tq!

Love your videos. Your styles are always well thought out. Would you please do a video or 2 about scarves? I dislike polo necks so scarves are the answer to. Keep the neck warm when needed. Also, if one masters wearing scarves in our best colors worn near the face, any color can be worn on top, even our less flattering colors. This is a challenge for petites. Many scarves are too voluminous. Thanks!

I just ordered the curated classic coat during the archive sale yesterday 1/17/24. I’m really glad you mentioned that you ordered 2 sizes up because you wanted a more wrap feel whereas I want the opposite so this helps me determine what size I should get as a fellow petite. Thank you Helen!

Thanks for this video! its a huge difference when you want to buy clothes online and see the model without a reference in terms of size..so this is really great. Something interesting and important that you could say is the weight of each coat, so if you are outside all day wearing it, wich one would be the best option in terms of less weight, and also which ones are more water repellent.
Thx for the lovley video! 🥰 I am intrested in which temperature/climate are you using or suggesting the coats. 🤔 I turn up the wool & Kashmir-percentage in my coats/sweater, the colder it gets. 🥶😂 But when we reach 5 to 0 Celsius or Minus 10 degree the "wool coat"+"layering" does not cut it anylonger for me. 🙈🤣 I have to use my down coat in mid-calf length.🙂😶🌫️ If you take a "100% wool"-coat, for exp.: in which temprature would you suggest it? 🤔 Thanks in advance! 😊 I also would love to see your take on sweater & down jackets (/down coats). 😍😍😍

Hi Helen, this is a bit off topic, but I see that you own the Sezane Claude bag. I think the bag is so stunning with it's color and goes well with a lot of outfits. It is super difficult to find "Petite" sized clothing these days. Some retail store have stopped selling anything "Petite". As I watched this video, I was so surprised to see a coat in the taupe, (a gray/brown), color. I love Taupe and can't find fabric in this color. As for the composition, as long as the Wool is greater than 50% and the cashmere is greater than 20%, then I am game! You'll find me at The Curated Store!

What color is the london coat? I looked around and "BONE" looks a bit light and "CHOCOLATE MELANGE" looks a bit dark

What size sweater do you have?
I just purchased the London coat, I was torn between that and the boyfriend or sizing up in the classic, but the side pockets, the buttons, the tighter sleeves at the cuffs, the seam details on the elbow, and the addition of the back flap for movement won me over. I knew I wanted a black coat so all those little details create some visual interest in an otherwise plain looking coat.

@@alliemariefsorry this is late but I bought an XS in London. Which according to their size chart and recommendations is my true size. It is very roomy in the chest and body and I’ve been able to wear a thick sweater and a long wool blazer underneath it comfortably.

I love the look and style of wearing a wool coat but it’s way too cold for winters where I live :)
You could wear it under your other coat, or you could wear a thick sweater under it and/or a scarf and heavy gloves; or you could just wear them in the autumn and early spring
I'm surprised by all the gods reviews on the mederick coat from Sezane. I tried it on in the blue color (so beautiful) and was so disappointed by the quality. I thought the material was quite thin. Maybe it's a different material in other colors? Thanks for your review. I'd like to try the coats from the curated.

You have your neutrals covered, so why not enjoy the green one? I also have coats in the neutrals and basic colors I wear (navy, camel, black, burgundy, white/ivory), so I just got a beautiful red one in 100% wool, breathable rayon lining, from Banana Republic, which is making wonderful, high-quality, natural-fiber coats and jackets nowadays. The price was incredible, with the BF discount (40%!) and a reward note I had. I do have two of their fitted coats for wearing over the dresses or skirt/top outfits I frequently wear, I love those, also. But most of my coats are cut so that they will go over a blazer, which I needed for the office, or a chunky sweater - not that I wear many, I prefer fine, lightweight knits. I would love to find a great-quality coat in a cooler-toned green, like a bottle green - maybe next autumn.

We know what it is, we just don’t have it where we live, thank goodness (San Francisco). It rarely goes below freezing or snows here, and not for long.🙂
