For the Netherlands story, I have a friend that her parents met in Paris on vacation. She’s from America and he is from Portugal. They wrote each other letters for 2 years while dealing with immigration until he could come to America. They’re still happily married 30 something years later. Also my husband is from a different country and we’ve dealt with immigration our whole relationship almost 8 years: so I know the stress of it, but its been worth it for us. It really is so hard and can really make or break a relationship. If you can make it through that, your relationship will be stronger than ever

For the last question depending on the tattoo I'm sure you could find a charm of the same symbol. Put it on a bracelet or necklace. Or maybe you all get a piercing together instead if that's something you are comfortable with.

For the story about the friend that doesn't want to get a tattoo, I would suggest getting the sketch put on a phone case or even frame it and hand it up

This show has absolutely become part of my Tuesday ritual. I love watching how all of you work off of each other's views to give advice.

In regard to the tattoo story, maybe the friends would be amenable to a commissioned piece of art with the same design for the fourth friend. Theres nothing wrong with having a piece of framed art that reminds you of your friendships.

If the girls want to go get tattoos, OP can offer to go as support, a hand to squeeze or someone to run fingers down the hair to distract. That can be a big bonding moment as well just being there and present during the tattoo. It’s a whole ritual in itself so being part of the process without partaking should be solidifying enough that you love your friends and cherish them

My visa was going to run out after 6 months of dating, so I got a student visa for a 1.5 year program. We moved in together after 6 months bc I told him he would need to help pay for living arrangements if I was paying for tuition.

Idea for the girl with the friend group tattoos- is there a piece of jewelry she could get made for a similar price of the tattoo? That might be the way to go for her! She’d be included with something that’s tailored to her needs.

To the writer asking about marriage: I gotta disagree with Jerry and Morgan here. My husband and I got married after less than a year together for very similar reasons. He had to leave, we knew we loved each other and wanted to stay together, so we said “fuck it” and got married. I’ve never regretted it ONCE. Honestly, and I hate to sound unromantic about it, but marriage really is essentially just a legal document. If you love each other, and really really trust each other, I think you should just go ahead and get married. It makes the most sense logistically, right? He’ll be able to stay and continue working and you’ll be able to finish your education. Worst case scenario, it doesn’t work out and you get a divorce. Just my hot take 🤷🏻‍♀️

In regards to the nonreligious boyfriend, I know why Morgan feels so anxious. It is NOT a flippant thing to get straddled with student loan debt. The restrictions are unreasonable. If it were me. I would hide the relationship until that last dime of school is paid! That's just my two cents. Your dishonesty and disconnection is the price to be paid for their narrow minded ways.
