The honeymoon one... That's terrible, because your NOT going to enjoy this trip... Your going to be waiting for the phone call the ENTIRE trip... That's unfortunate I would schedule this before, it's already suffering.. so sad

Story 2: the resentment he would harbor towards his wife if she ever persuades him into not saying goodbye to his pet will cause serious issues in their relationship. The trip might just not be worth it. I’d listen to the vet and let the husband decide AND respect any decision he makes. For me personally, if my husband convinced me to go on a trip and I miss my chance to say goodbye to any of my animals, i don’t think i’d be able to forgive him. Those are my babies.
You definitely SHOULD be there for your pet's euthanasia. It's not optional, imo.
They are in a strange environment and 100% understand what's happening towards the end. Imagine yourself older, in pain and surrounded by your family, and suddenly you're taken into a facility full of strangers where they prep you for something, stick needles in you, and even though you're sedated you realize what's going on and that no one from your family is anywhere to be seen.
During their last moments, animals ALWAYS look around the room for their owners. Always.
For this reason, vets recommend their person be present to provide some comfort to the animal. They only give you a choice as a courtesy and not to pass judgment.
However, it's generally considered extremely selfish that you choose to not be there during your best friend's final moments.
Unpopular opinion, I know. But if the tables were turned and I was dying, I would 100% want my Velcro dog there during my final moments and I know she'd have zero objections to being present too.
Story #2 As someone who loves traveling and someone who loves her dog. There is NO trip/vacation in the world that would ever make me miss anything as important as saying goodbye to my best friend/dog son like that. You would always be able to make more memories and trips together but you will only get one chance to say goodbye. I honestly if I was the husband I would harbor resentment towards the wife if we didn't get to say goodbye. It is a hard decision since this is a "trip of a life time" but your pets whole life is the life they spent with you and I couldn't let them leave it without being by their side while they leave it. She said it took them one year to save up for it which isn't long at all. I would try to cancel and see if you can get any of the money back and reschedule. However, I would also only do this if it is pretty clear that the pet is close to the end.
Dear dad and Morgan I love you're podcast and it always makes my dad. I'm 28 currently going through my first real heartbreak and have been having a hard time. You're podcasts help me get through the day and helps me feel optimistic for the future even if it scares me to start over

You should always be there with your animal when it's getting put down if yok can, no matter how hard it is for you think hiw bad it'll be for your furry friend, they'll no something is off with how your acting and feeling and they'll be so scared with a stranger in their final moments

Story 2: We are so lucky to have the ability to euthanize our pets and prevent them from continuous suffering. The best piece of advice I got while caring for my palliative care kitty was that it is better to say goodbye too soon than too late. ♥️ When we did say goodbye recently, it was devastating but I was ok with feeling that so he could feel peace instead of pain.
Story 1 one thing should be noted tough, she knew where they live, she knew that he might have to move again with the next promotion, so now she`s like hey this doesn`t work for me anymore. It`s also one sided from her.
I’d say for story 4 they need to fit eachother in their schedules maybe a weekend a month and that gives eachother something to look forward to BUT not drop out school
Hope your horses are ok! Herpes in horses is no joke. In my area, we are on the watch for strangles as there a lot of cases of it.

To be fair... Nurse moved in with bf knowing how far she has to go, right? Agreed he should be compromising with her...if he's unwilling, she needs to go regardless, that place is NOT safe. ❤
Girl, that's his baby. The cat came before you and he would never forgive himself for not being with his cat while it passes. Vacations will always be there, but loved ones arent. Call the airlines and hotels. They will work with you during an emergency. Let him be there for his cat. I had to postpone a vacation for my cat and I regret nothing. I was there for my baby.
Story 3 I think him complaining about the small things might not be the only thing you might look back and find bigger problems for you

36:17 i had this problem with a roommate when he first moved in. He's my husbands friend and would forget to bring his dishes into the kitchen. I just had one talk with him, i dont mind cleaning the dish, but make it to the sink or beside the sink. Especially since i had two brothers who would give me grief at home all the time with that. So communication is everything for little things like that. If i ask my husband to do anything, he does it. He even does things that i havent asked him to do. Hes got a busy schedule, and still helps me. I hope op gets the courage to leave and find a man that values her enough to do more than the bare minimum.
I haven’t even made it through the rest yet but just at story one🤦🏻♀️ I don’t want to be mean but girl, where I work most of our hospital staff would kill for just a 45 min commute.
Doing the 3-4 days a week over here though an hour an 20 commute weekdays and working on weekends make it even easier at 55min- 8 years in.
Monday-Friday would be hard but, hopefully doing 12 hour shifts.
But I’m jealous of story ones commute, envious! I’d kill lol
My dog passed the other day after a long illness. I couldn't put him down after I did that with my other dog years ago. It was traumatic.

For the story that the girlfriend no longer wants long distance and you guys feels she’s already checked out… Man don’t always tell the complete story. That was me last year, it wasn’t long fistance but I found myself bringing my worries to my partner for a long time until it was enough. Of course I was checked out and of course he acted like this was something that happpened yesterday and as if I wasn’t expressing my feelings from long a time ago.
Women usually don’t check out this easy.
Story 2 ..As a cat owner who lost my SoulCat Oreo last year on August..I know how it feels.My was young and ill .I spent 1 month and 13 days in hospice care for my Oreo and Oreo died peacefully by himself around my arms in his warm bed in his home.So, story 2 those honeymoon trips can be made in future but not the last goodbye or time of the animal.
In story 3, I'm like the guy. Not that I want to, I think some ADHD is playing in there, but I'm willing to compromise. I ask for my husband's help, when he sees something that needs to be done, he can tell me instead of sulkily doing it. I try to pay attention and I I've been happy with to-do lists and reminders on my phone. Bottom line is, if there's a will there's a way.

2nd one about the pet hurts. My mom did that to me and my sister-giving them away and putting the animal down. The betrayl is what I felt most since as a kid my sister and I had a lot of responsibility bc we had so many pets in the house

Story 2: just because it's easier for you to not be there for your pet when they get put down doesn't mean it's easier. Your pet is in an unfamiliar place with people they don't know, how could you want that to be their last memory?
For story 2 with the cat being put down. I think the parents aren’t doing it to hurt him I can sense a emotional attachment that’s unhealthy and maybe parents picked up on it and realized he can not be around when the pets are put down bc he’s gonna fight for the pet to live regardless of if it’s suffering for his emotional well being and it’s not right so maybe the parents took into their own hands bc they knew he wouldn’t let go. And maybe it also enhanced the unhealthy emotions. It’s sad to let a pet go but it’s worse to watch it be in pain

Story 3: a hardworking man is a blessing for the right woman. A man who works 80 hours/week and is willing and capable of paying your bills is a blessing for the right woman. If you’re not that woman, don’t try to force it. You’ll make yourself miserable. If taking care of all house chores isn’t the life you want, he might just not be the guy for you. Does he call you childish and say he feels like your parent because he’s paying your bills? No. I’m sure he actually feels good that he’s able to provide for you. Try changing your mindset. Try feeling thankful that you have a good man and feel good about taking care of him when he’s home. He’s made it pretty clear where he stands. He doesn’t want to change his ways. If he doesn’t want to turn the lights off, he pays the light bill. Who cares? And is it really that much trouble to take his plate when he’s done eating? My two cents as a blue collar wife anyway 🤷🏻♀️
I'm a disabled military wife who works 35 hours a week while my husband works 60+ and he still cleans up after himself and does his own laundry. If the bathroom is a mess he doesn't bitch at me cuz he knows he can clean it just like I cam and I'm tired just like he is. Not as tired maybe but still tired.
@@CaliHarris2798 you’re disabled and working pretty much full time. Different scenario imo than what OP described. OP is 100% within her right to set whatever boundaries she sees fit, but she can’t force him to help more at home. He is very rarely home, yet pays for most of it. It kind of seems like my own dynamic with my husband. He walks in and drops his dirty clothes right at the door. I’d never think to complain about this. He pulls more than his weight at home. I haven’t taken out the trash or washed my car since I met this man. I feel fulfilled that I can make our house feel like home for him when he’s here but I 100% understand that wouldn’t be a fulfilling life for every woman. I hope OP can figure this out with him before they get married, especially if kids are in the plans because I’m sure her fiance is going to expect her to take on most of the childcare duties as well.
For the cat story, that`s difficult. I have had that conversation with my mum. My cats were with her during my vacation. she was like I was so worried, if anything happens, of if they don`t come home, bc they are indoor cats at home but can go out at her place, should she tell me or not. It was after my return they are safe, so it was hypotphatical but it was hard to decide what to do next time.
But if my cat was on life support, been there, I had to rush there and be there for the end. I always wanna be there for the end to comfort my fur baby. But I don´t let any pet go until the vet says there`s no other way. She doesn`t care for the cat she only cares about the trip.
Our sewer system did the same thing this week! They had to tear up our front yard! It was 10,000 dollars, and was very unfortunate.

As a Latina listener, is very interesting that the first story talks about a 45-minute ride as something horrible… I spend 4 hours a day on a bus (2 hours in the morning and 2 hours after work)
