Excellent advice, and honest review! You're right, it all depends on your needs. I can get amazing bokeh and super closeups with the Sigma f 1.4 16 mm DC DN e mount lens, on the Sony a6500. I'm testing a Fuji X T3 and the video quality in HD, 4K and 4K 60 fps is simply outstanding. It likely betters the performance of any present Sony full frame and especially the 4K 60 fps mode. Full frame is now being challenged by the newer crop sensor cameras, especially the X T3. If I still shot weddings I would work with full both full frame Sony and Fuji, full and crop. What presently keeps me away from full frame is the size, weight and cost of lenses, when I can get very similar results from a crop. I previously carried enough Canon weight. Work light, get more done.
Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and this video is part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.
Dumping Canon for Fuji is the easiest path! :)
Dumping Nikon or specially Sony is more difficult.
I recently bought into the Fuji system (XT3 + 52mm, 23mm and 16-55), coming from full frame Canon(5DM4). Incredibly pleased so far with the transition, I really love the film simulations you can apply to the jpegs/video. Very useful for delivering quick edits to clients right on the spot via camera wifi. Focus system is great, maybe slighter under Canon's performance but not a deal breaker. Raw files, I'd have to agree with you, they are a bit of a pain to work with, especially if you're using LR. I'll definitely be using the XT3 for personal and portions of my paid work(photo and video).
What was wrong with the Canon you had?
@@rumporridge1 Well, I was climbing a Mountain in Bali when heavy rainfall hit us ....long story short water got into the 5D body and rendered it useless. I tried the rice trick but it was too late :'(
Kien Tran sucks. Pretty much got toasted. And not really worth it to send to Canon. I’m very happy using both my 5D4 and my XT3. Two different shooting styles. So much fun bro.
Once again, proof that the camera and lens really don't matter much in terms of quality output. It depends more on photographer skill. Also, how a camera makes you feel with respect to how it looks and feels in your hands, etc., has a significant influence on your opinion of the brand. Nice video.
Definitely not as much difference as people might think. I currently still have my D810 and started switching to Fuji early last year. I went XT2, got a used xt1 as a backup, then the xh1, xt3 and also an x100f I have on me all the time. I traded in an old Nikon D600 back in March for the A7iii with the Sony 16-35 F4 and the 85 1.8. I did a road trip for a week and mostly ended up using the XH1 with the 50-140 stuck on it and the 16-35 on the Sony. I found the IBiS on the xh1 to be much better than the a7iii. I mostly wanted to try the a7iii for the eye af as well as low light situations as I found I was doing a lot of indoor shooting of my niece and nephew in crappy light. I found the eye AF to be a lot better on the A7iii than the XH1 and still better than the xt3, and even with the 85 1.8 on the a7iii a didn’t like the amount of noise at 6400 or 12800 iso so I’ve just started shooting with a flash indoors. Definitely have way too much tied up in gear so I might unload it all except the Xh1 and maybe wait and see what Fuji does with the next x100/ xH2. The other thing I found was I was always tweaking my Nikon and now the Sony flies but with the Fuji files I was actually just sending the jpegs right from the camera to the family.
Would you choose the xh1 over the xt3?
AcidicDelusion i would like to know too
Agree on that last point. Seriously. Since i switched to fuji from nikon i now only shoot jpeg. I even canceled my lightroom/PS subscription.
Nothing beats A7III in shooting people in events! That low light performance and eye AF are just something else, but got to say it's never as fun as a Fuji!
I was attempting to buy a FujiFilm X100V (like a second camera), but after this, I will get a Sony 24mm GM lens... Same price!
Great comparisons! Love my xt3 for doing cinematic movies!
Thank you so much for sharing the raw files. I have always wanted to see the difference first hand on my my own computer with the raw files. I have the Fuji xt-2 and have been tempted by full frame. Now I can exactly see the difference. You did a wonderful job composing the images so closely. And thank you for shooting both at the same settings. I have head that Fuji underexposes compared to other manufactures and this show the proof of that. The difference was not as much as I though it was going to be but when you zoom in you can easily see the difference. Just more information with the full frame sensor. And the Sony colors are great. Not sure what everyone complains about with them. Straight out of camera they are more punchy than the Fuji files. Thanks again for the comparison and sharing the honest info.
@Chris Turner Photographer great video man. I own an X-T3 and I've only held an A7iii so this was very informative for me. I only wish it was longer lol. Just a heads up if someone hasn't mentioned it already... I set my eye/face detection to a function button to turn it on or off. If its off you can use any autofocus mode without it. Hope that helps man, keep up the great work. Cheers!
Have a similar setup also. Xt2 for personal use and a7riii for projects.
I own a Red Camera, A7SII, 5DmIV and I just picked up the XT3. IMO, the XT3 is a beast and is KING of apsc right now. I went with fuji because of the lens lineup. It's amazing how people are comparing the XT3 to other full frame camera because image and video is really that good IMO.
Hello Hugh Hou. Hope you are doing well.
What would be a better choice?
To get Sony Alpha camera + Lens + Nodal Ninja
or to get Insta360 Pro 2 ?
I think 360 camera allows to save on workflow time and I checked the quality of images and its really good.
What would you suggest?

You’re very good.
I ran into an offer of Fujifilm xt3 with 18 - 55mm and 23mm 1.4 for 1500 usd is that worth it ?
SONY FOR WORK...Fujifilm for you!! :)

Why work and family? I use my XT3 for work and travel and family all. Its for all the best camera. I love my XT3
Which preset pack did u use?
I shot Nikon FF and Sony FF and switched to Fuji XT3 earlier this year. I think we have to stop with the whole "larger sensor > image quality". Comparing files from a GFX 100 (medium format 100mp) vs XT3 with 56 1.2 and it's indistinguishable unless you zoom it 300%. So if a medium format 100mp isn't that much better than APSC a FF shouldn't be except with high ISO.
I've got the XT3 and use Sony a lot too. I prefer using the Fuji but both are awesome (and XT3 with a few primes and 2.8 zooms is way cheaper (In UK Fuji + 16-55-200 2.8 zooms + 1.4 23/35 & 50 1.2 = £5611. Sony A7 + 24-70-200 F2.8 + 1.4 35/50/85 = £10157 (twice the price !)). You can switch off the Fuji Eye AF - I've set up a function button to do it so I can easily be single point or zone AF with or without Eye AF with one button press.
You should compare the crop 2.8 zooms with the f4 sony's and the 1.4 fujis with the 1.8 of the sonys. Then you'll see sonys are actually cheaper and around the same size. For me fuji makes sense with their f2 small primes, otherwise I'd choose sony

Thank you for your prompt reply. Would you kindly answer this question regarding the Sony a7iii: would an A4 print of a Super 35 file produce results with acceptable resolution for personal use & with relatively low noise levels?
Yeah easy
Thank you for the insight and feedback. I'm switching to Fuji from Canon
Thanks Chris. Having had an X-T2 in the past and now owning an A7III but not having both at the same time, i did wonder how comparable they were. Having a chancee to compare your images side by side my thoughts are similar to yours in terms of image quality; Sony being slightly ahead but both high enough as to not really matter which you pick.
I originally missed the tactile feel of the X-T2 but having since picked up a manual focus Zeiss ZM 35mm 1.4 to use on my Sony i no longer have that craving for a more engaging experience to image capture that can be lost with the amazing advance feature set of the Sony cameras.
I have them both. If you stick to base ISO on the X-T2 you'll be competitive with A7III under normal circumstances, but you want to underexpose and push and pull the shadows and highlights, then you'll reveal the noise in the darkest areas on the Fuji images, so practically you have less dynamic range.
In terms of sharpness and color they're comparable, but different looking. Fuji raw files can't be sharpened in LR, because the infamous worm artifacts, so the suggestion is to leave sharpness at zero and use texture slider instead and later in photoshop.
There are some nice fuji lens choices to bring back most of that shallow DOF goodness. I'm using a 35mm/0.95 (Mitakon) and 50mm/1.1 (Kamlan - coming soon). The 56mm 1.2 for AF looks like a good choice too.
Hi Chris! I am currently fuji xt3 owner but I am considering switching to a7iii . XT3 is great camera when shooting outdoors but not so sure about high iso performance indoors. I was looking online for RAW files from a7iii which were taken indoors at higher ISO's , hard to find... and since you occasionally upload some RAW's maybe you have any of these somewhere already, and you could share? I am aiming for lifestyle family/couples indoors photography with natural light. thanks!
Hey there! I’m having the same thoughts as you. Have you eventually made the transition? Would love the look provided by Sonys sensor, but the X-T5 is also tempting
Chris, thank you. It would be interesting to see more side-by-side, but the sony and samyang 35 2.8. I think it might be very interesting to see. Nature, portraiture etc :).
Greetings from Bulgaria.
I appreciate this review i have been gpint back and forth on weather i should get the sony a7iii. Om learning its a love/hate review. Either people love them or loath them.
The only point where Sony shines is depth of field. And the higher ISO or in other words, better ISO capeability.
Sony is on the other hand like a computer. The menue system is like that and it behaves like a computer. The Fuji is inspirational and makes you wanna shoot again and again and again..
Everything you said about the cameras was correct, but the bit about color depth and sharpness of images was not quite right.
Fiji sensors do provide sharper images due to lack of anti aliasing filter due to the fact that X-trans sensor is not prone to moire artifacts like bayer pattern sensors in Sony.
The point about color depth is most likely imperceptible in most cases unless you shoot at higher ISO settings in raw perhaps.
I've tested X-T2 against A7III multiple times and except the dynamic range and noise in the deepest recovered shadows, there's not much difference.
By the was both SD card slots in X-T3 accept SD XC II vs one slot in A7III.
TL;DR: Sony is nice for using it professionaly with clients, it's a high tech computer which has features to make your photographers life more simple. Fuji has this as well, and it's getting better and better, but the Fuji allows me to slow down and get back to the feeling I got when I was doing photography for myself.
Having shot film (various formats) only since I started photography 7 years ago and then switched to digital (+- 2.5 years ago) I used various cameras. Leica to Sony to Nikon to Fuji to Nikon to Sony again. All the digital things were new for me and I had to find out what worked for me. I bought the A7III at the end of 2018 with the intention of starting/doing professional photo work with it and it works flawlessly. It's the perfect camera for every situation. I rent lenses for different kind of productions/customers. I got myself the 35 1.4 Samyang (now the 35 2.8 Samyang pancake) and 55 1.8 Zeiss FE for personal stuff. To be fair, I didn't shoot much photos at all with the Sony since I got it, for personal usage. The Sony - as said before - is a very nice camera but to me it doesn't speak, it doesn't ask for it to get along with me for personal work. I got to the point that I only bring it when I am travelling (A7III + 35mm 2.8 pancake) and that's it. Sony means work for me, it's a computer, it doesn't feel like actually taking photo's like I used to when I was shooting film. I got the A7III for the fabulous eye autofocus, auto iso, low noise, good battery life. It makes things easy when shooting for a client, I only have to focus on getting the shot I want for them(!).
Getting tired of not taking any personal work, I wanted to know what was holding me back.
There were two reasons (for me personally): making photography a job and the above mentioned arguments about Sony. I quit taking assignments for clients, though I'd keep the Sony for maybe an unexpected assignment which I really want to do. Ordered some Fuji lenses again, still waiting to get the Fuji body I want, but I've had the X-T2 and X-E2 in the past. (Though I didn't know how to use all the fancy digital features coming from a manual film photography world). Fuji brings me back to the same feeling of shooting film, which was for me the perfect harmony. I considered going back to film for personal work but due to the enormous trend the prices inflated a lot and I can't be bothered paying this much for film (for now). Let's see what the future brings... Waiting for the X-T3 successor in February, no rush...
The Fuji "allows you to slow down"...do you realize how dumb that sounds???
@@shaolin95 I reckon that you've never tried shooting film or maybe not even have interest in it. Hence why you probably do not understand my statement or perceive it differently. The Fuji is capabable enough to follow the Sony but the Sony doesn't have the option to take a step back, turn the manual dials on the camera instead of fiddling with settings on a screen.

Wow that was rude. It wasn't dumb. I knew what he meant.

@@zerospecs2331 hi! thank you. Still using my x-t3 daily!

Can’t get a cheap portrait lens for Fuji as well
Great review like always! I have a7lll and a6500 I'm very curious about xt3 it's looks a fun camera for me was a hard decision because Fuji are doing a great job on apsc and price range(good specs on video) but finally I buyed the a7lll for in body stabilization I do more video and it helps a lot because I like do it handheld ( i know that is not the best like gh5 but the a7lll is FF body)and finally the af in sony so fast and accurate maybe the next generation of Fuji will be awesome !
Great video thnx for sharing. What software do you use for your video editing if you don't mind me asking?

@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Thnx
Chris - your channel is definitely getting to be one of my top 10. I like how you don't "chat" 50% of the time (like Dave McKeegan) and get straight core of the video! My recently made to switch from Fuji (XT3) to Sony (a7iii). While I do have a place in my heart for Fuji (film sims are fun) and feel that they are great for crop. Now, on the A7iii, I can really see the difference - exactly like you DOF was the first thing I noticed. Additionally, for me, low light performance, + less noise and superior AF/IQ were major factors (there are many others too). I think both cameras are a great value at their price point. End of day, I would still use Sony for just about everything (pro & casual), but I wouldn't mind owning the XPro3 later this year for fun!
Eye tracking on Fuji X-T3 can be turned off in every AF mode. Fn button can turn it on/off by default. Cheers.
Yes it can, I had one, but it doesn’t solve the issue. If you have it on for example and your focus point in the centre but it picks up a face off to the side it will override your centre point and go for the eye
What lenses XT3's users would you say are a must-have? Thanks!
When I had Fuji I had the 23mm f2 and the 50mm f2 they were cool. If I was going to buy Fuji today I’d definitely buy the 16mm 1.4 and the 56 1.2
Really depends on your type of photography? But i was blown away by the 50-140mm f2.8,
16 1.4 and 56 1.2 are my favorites.
Having shot both systems, I like how skin tones are rendered w/ the Fuji. I can get in camera results. From dynamic range tests, they are very close. Using a light meter, Fuji under exposes, and Sony over exposes (why light meters should still be used with digital photography). Both Sony's and Fuji's menu system can use improvements. The main reason I shoot fuji is the glass! They are sharp and have character. The 23mm and 35mm 1.4 are my favorite FujiLux's. The 16mm is amazing, sharp from corner to corner wide open w/ little distortion. Sony's biggest design flaw is the mount, originally intended for APS-C.

I can't decide which camera to buy...... i really like this two camera .... the XT3 cost a lot less but is not stabilized and have a smaller sensor ... uff......... :(
Look at the cost of the lenses. For example, the 70-200 2.8 Sony is among the most expensive at ~2500. The Fuji equivalent 50-140 is about a thousand less. The Sony is better no doubt, but by how much and whether that's worth it is down to you.
check out @sshoolz on IG --- XT3 is a monster. :)
@@musicmaestro88 Very nice...
1:43 well, I don´t think you loose just a bit of depth in fact it is a lot as you can see in the image! you can tell right away from the first look which is which! This is the biggest selling point for the Sony, the FF look! Its just something compelety different!
Great timing. I'm about to pull the trigger and finally buy an xt2. I've used the xt3 a couple of times and It really won me over. Don't have the money for the xt3 and lenses so I'm going to have to comprise and got with an xt2 for now. Definitely don't have Sony money yet but maybe one day. But yea any thoughts on the xt2 as like a first entry to the fuji world? Doing both stills and video
Yeah great camera for photo. Video I can’t give a real opinion tbh
I personally like the Sony lineup of cameras and lenses. Fuji xt3 and xh1 price is so sweet tho.
And Fuji is way more fun! :)
I saw you a very long time , but not the cams'
why the xt3 zoomed-in look like oil painting?
Maybe he applied too much noise reduction to the photo?
1:06 Do people even see that compression is different ? (look at the objects size on the background behind the chair)
The A7iii having a larger sensor has better color depth? I thought both cameras are rated at 14-bit RAW. As for more sharpness, isn't both cameras rated at 24MP?
Look it up on DXO

Andrew Haynal Casel colour depth is different to bitrate
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Unfortunately, when i search "camera color depth" on youtube, im getting videos thats still related to 8 bits vs 16bits.
Andrew Haynal Casel dunno what to tell ya. They are of course related but different at the same time. Anyways.
I use my X-T3 for work and my A7III for my family.
Only beef I have with some of your points is build quality. Sonys are known for having half assed weather sealing at best. Even on their top tier R line (until the IV). Crappy buttons and sticks (again until the IV) and that plastic *rubber* grip texture (once again until the IV lol). Fuji primes give you the equivalent of roughly a 1.8-2.0 DOF and honestly I can't see a scenario where I NEED or even want more. People already overdo bokeh at the cost of blurring out points of focus in a photo. I'm sure by now I'm a biased muscle car guy :)
*plus you look sexier with a fuji it's a scientific fact*
Hahaha good points
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer cheers bro. Once I switched to Fuji from a Nikon 810 i fell in love with photography again and that is worth more than any specs to me. In reality either of these cameras out performs a 3k camera from not even 5 years ago and pros did just fine back then and I'd argue these haven't made them "better". Its a beautiful age for photography where pro grade gear can now be had by the masses without selling your car. I definitely will check out the A7iv when sony decides to release it. If they match the weather sealing of the RIV that would be huge (live in the PNW it's a must)
@@robbie154 Totally agree, it definitely matters if you like using something. I dont really enjoy the "feeling" of using my Sonys I just think they are best for what I do
FE 35 f/1.8 will come out soon.
Yeah look forward to that
Thank you Chris for another create video. Question: does Fuji have an in camera crop feature similar to the Sony Super 35, & if so, is the resulting resolution & noise level good enough for an A4 print size (for personal use). Thank you in advance from Canada.
I’m not 100% sure on that but I don’t think so. You’d probably have to crop later
Thank you for a very balanced comparison. I share the sentiment that the gear isn't that important. However I feel that the Fuji raw files doesn't lend itself to all types of photography. They are a bit wonky and was the reason I had to stop using Fuji gear for my paid shoots. It all ended with me selling all my Fuji stuff at a significant loss. Keep up the good work!
Out of curiosity, what exactly did you experience as 'wonky'? The supplied RAW files from the Fuji seem to stand up perfectly to the A7 III, or are you talking about older generations?
I think I know what he’s talking about. They do edit weird. Different to any other camera. Still really good, you’ll find once you push the ISO higher the Sony really kills them also and I find the squiggly worm probably a little annoying. Look that up if you haven’t heard of it. It happens when you sharpen them. But overall they are both great.
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Yeah, I have noticed the wormy thing when sharpening. My Galaxy S7 (in jpeg)was notorious for that too including its ridiculous noise reduction ;) Since then I keep both of them at a minimum (value of around 10 to 15 in LR) when possible since I don't mind a little bit of fine grain in my pictures anyway. But yeah, the Sony seems to have a tiny bit less of this wormy thing although I don't see how the Sony 'kills' it compared to the Fuji in higher ISO's. Its better, yes. But to my eyes and looking at these samples only marginally. The Fuji is probably doing some sort of processing/noise reduction - even in the raw files - which causes the wormy things.
I bought an X100V and love it for sure
Yeeeea so imma bite the bullet and jump onto the Fuji bandwagon. Coming from Nikon after 8 years of shooting with various Nikon cameras. D3100, d7000, d800.

@2:32 Can you please elaborate on where Fuji isn't as good compared to the Sony? I do own both the A7iii and the X-T3 (long story..) and the Sony feels like a fantastic sensor wrapped in recycled Ice-cream lids..
What do you mean? Build quality? I mean it just feels nice to hold, nice clicky buttons and dials, good weather sealing, flip screen feels more robust, where the Sony body itself feels stronger to me
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer cheers Chris. I did mean the build quality. All things are subjective to personal preference - glad the Sony feels better for you. Just get ready for the FujiFanBoy thumbdowns and comments..I like both for different reasons, but Fuji build, handling and ergonomics work for me (and the menu system-lol)
Oh I always get thumbs down lol don’t give a shit tbh people are far to attached to their gear these days
I think I was pretty fair about the Fuji anyway? See a lot worse reviews than that. Mine was quite positive I thought
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer yes..it was, and very truthful in every respect. I have to have an ammo pouch for my batteries, and you can't bend physics to get the "full frame look" from a small crop sensor lens..it does well, but even the "bokeh beast" fuuji 56mm F1.2 is really an equivalent to the Sony 85 f1.8 for greater cost.
Thanks for your honesty,
I have both Fuji and heaps of Canon DSLR gear, was thinking of moving to Sony to replace my full frame Canon wedding rig. But im not sure of i should wait to see if any Pro Canon mirroless is coming soon? I have too much canon glass to ignore. But i am enjoying using fuji on the weddings much lighter and the AF is spot actually i found the face detect working well, i have yet to use eye detection, I think thats overkill for my work. But the only time i turn the face detect off is when then ate more then 2 people in the frame or any crowds.
If Fuji can bring out a new improved sensor with better high iso performance and better colour in low light? I think i will say bye bye to Canon.
Yeah it’s a hard one. I mean eventually you’ll have to buy new glass anyway (well not have to but you’ll want to) because they don’t work as well as Canon say they do when adapted.
I also don’t think Fuji will ever be as good as a full frame with new technology it’s just the nature of the sensors.
I’m sure Canon will do better and better, I just don’t believe they will be able to catch up to Sony now. They both (canon and Nikon) left it way to late
Sorry to say but sensor size does not affect DOF. When trying to get the same FOV a full frame sensor has more DOF, but this is because you have to use a longer focal length or get closer to the subject. The sensor size itself does nog give more DOF So, if you put a 50mm lens on a crop sensor or a full frame sensor will give the same DOF (aperture and distance being equal). Only the FOV will be different
So what your saying is it does affect depth of field?
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer I think you misread my post. Sensor size does not affect DOF. Aperture, distance and focal length do, please see this article of cambridge: www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/digital-camera-sensor-size.htm
Only when you want the same FOV then fullframe has more DOF because of longer focal length used or the distance to subject being shorter
Fuji feels more natural
Fuji For JPG sony for RAW :D (and video and Sports and Portraits)
The Sony raw's look so much more punchy. The Fuji Raws seem very washed out, is this normal?
If you're using Lightroom, that might be the reason. Adobe does not render Fuji's colors well.
Petros Elathan so what’s a good alternative?
@@peterc3619 Capture one
The only real issue (if even an issue) is that the 23mm lens is actually a 23mm and not a 35 that's why there is different rendering and bokeh. The glass elements of their lenses won't change,16mm is a 16mm lens not a 24,it's just looks like 24mm...Also about the DOF (bokeh) many companies they produce F1.1,F0.95 and F0.85 lenses so you can enjoy the creamy bokeh...
Yeah your right, a 23mm is a 23mm regardless but that’s besides the point, you know you can get a perceived shallower depth of field with full frame and what we see is all that matters.
Agree also on the other lenses but not with auto focus, making them very difficult to use in certain situations like a wedding
There is a 23mm 1.0 fuji lens in the works
Simon i think it’s actually a 33 f1.0 (50mm) equivalence
33mm F1 but extremely big and expensive (probably around 3000)
Yer meant 33 need glasses 🤣
And manual focus?
Chris Turner Photographer apparently will be AF
Ok so he doesnt like fuji eye focus system because it keeps focus on eyes ;D
Depth of field is the most overrated thing in photography.

I thought it was sharpnes...
@@zalle1 no. It's DOF. It's an optical distortion in the first place.

Definitely..agree 100%
I wished people would stop being lazy with the use of the term crop sensor. If the lens uses the full area of the sensor then nothing is cropped. Even full frame is a misnomer as it’s an arbitrary name applied to a sensor with equivalent size to the old 35 mm film but has anyone tested the diagonal measurements of competing FF sensors? Maybe they’re wildly different. Even calling them FF, aps-c or m43 is inaccurate as there are variations within those groups. It would be more accurate to say Xmm diagonal sensor camera you’re using but FF, apps-c or m43 would suffice but not crop. Thanks.
So what would you like to call them. It’s just a term to describe a type of camera. Who cares?
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Ultimately, it doesn't matter, it's just up there with my pet peeves like 'tiny little'. FF has practical advantages and uses, as you described, but it is of greater benefit to camera manufacturers to manipulate the market, create buyer anxiety. I find this offensive. I cannot tell you the number of people who have asked what camera they should buy and I would recommend a Sony RX100 VI or a Lumix LX100 II and then they'd get FF anxiety, buy a Sony A7 III, use it once on holiday and now it's in a closet collecting dust. Naming-wise I'd love if people would say "43mm vs 27mm" instead of FF and APS-C, for instance, but then I'm just pushing a rock up a hill. Crazy is good, right?
@@CallMeChato Just today i read Phase One's label " Full Frame Medium Format" Wow. It was only then did i realized how much cropped a "Full Frame" is.
Yep. Some FF sensors don't even use all of the sensor in most of the modes... whereas a crop sensor camera would.
Sensor size does not affect DOF directly. The reason the Sony has less DOF is because you used a 35mm on it and you used a 23mm on the fuji. Only distance to subject, aperture and focal length affect DOF. I found a useful article of Cambridge regarding this subject here: www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/digital-camera-sensor-size.htm
Image quality/sharpness is not determined by the sensor size. A crop sensor does not gather less light.
You’ll have to give a time code of where I said crop sensor gathers less light so I can address that
hope fuji give us 400mbs 60fps all i soon
Strange, I own both - X-T3 and A7 III and can't say that the Sony has a better AF. Personally I think they are quite similar. And i prefer the AF of the Fuji, seems more reliable to me. My partner thinks the same.
Also very strange, I think the raw files from the X-T3 have much more latitude in post processing, no idea why you say that you like Sony more.
Regarding the rest, it is definitely a thing of personal preference of course.
Well having more “latitude” or dynamic range isn’t personal preference it’s a fact Sony has more it is what it is. Focus system I guess it depends how you use it.

Find any review that says the Fuji has more latitude. I will say if your talking about AF-S focus the Fuji is definitely faster, it sucks on the Sony but AF-C (what I always use being on back button) is much faster and more reliable on the Sony.
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer In that review the Sony needed more color noise reduction at the same exposure as well (per the reviewer). Tough call - but certainly not a slam dunk for either. The fact that the smaller sensor (XT3 uses more sensor area in most focus modes) is even being compared to the FF though pretty much tells us that the Xt3 is a beast. In the end though - you hit the nail on the head... and that is that most people should try both before making the decision. WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that most people don't have a gear problem as much as they do a workflow/skill problem. Subbed!
Sony doesn’t look any better to me 🤷♀️
Do you own Fuji cameras?
A7rIII but I enjoy shooting Fuji when I can
Your camera is making every more orange
I’ve used both and I can say that the fuji’s photos are much better than the sony’s
23mm fuji lens is garbage
That’s definitely an opinion
As a previous Fuji user the 23mm is a great lens
Agree
Please elaborate.
