  • Blizzard is making a huge mistake with the recent release of World of Warcraft Cataclysm. It isn't the release of the expansion itself though, but the fact that Blizzard is neglecting the desires of a large portion of its player base. What do I mean by this? Watch and find out! If you're a fan of Classic WoW though - this video is for you.

I meant to have the 2nd part of that Cataclysm leveling series come out today, but it turns out the entire file is corrupted and my SSD is dying. So, alas, I have to re-edit the entire project from scratch. Sucks, but oh well. I'll try to have it out by Friday. Thank you all for watching!

I totally support this, I never got to play WOW growing up, and being able to now in my 30s is cool with WOW Classic, Wrath of The Lich King is my favorite expansion EVER, the introduction of the Death Knight was my favorite, I love DK. I would like to be able to continue to play in Wrath if I want to, and not be forced to to play Cataclysm. Having more options and TBC or Wrath severs would be awesome!

I played retail cata in 2010 for a pretty long time. Till the release of dragonsoul raid so that was the last content patch for cata. I did not go back until WoD. I did not want to do panda land. So WoD it was. Played it for a few months and then got burned out like many people in wow do due to the sheer time and effort requirments they place on you. Want to raid? Cool. Go through the game. get gear. Do normals get gear. Cool. Do heroics. Get gear. Cool. Now farm herbs for flasks or pay rediculous sums of gold ont he AH. You also need enchants. Dont have an enchanter? Sorry you. Go pay AH prices.. And gold inflation only got worse each new expansion with peopel makign millions with bots. I got burned out on retail.
So i played a private cata server called apollo for a while. Then moved over the a legion servr since i did not play retail legion. Liked legion so joined BfA retail when it came. Played BfA till 8.3 relase. That was the last patch for BfA. By then the bots were bad. The bots now were flocks of 10 druids at a time tapping the node and deactivating it in a nano second. I fly around for an hour at 3am on a monday night trying to get some flowers for flasks for the raid on weds. Could not get any herbs for an hour and a half.
So i asked mysel...what the fack are you doign in thsi game?
I quit righ then and there. I told the forums whay i quit....due to too many bots taking resources. I got the usualy..bye....see ya...dont let the door hit you ont he way out......and....why are you tellign us... The forum itself, the EU forums has nothing but no lifers there. The usual human garbage that likes to control the flow and feel of the topics. They vote your ass down in the forums and get you gagged. The forum is a nasty place. Punyelf is a piece of shit, human garbage. This guy does nothing but post all day ont eh forums. He has over 57.000 posts. That is all he does. Talk down to people.....
Anywat....WoW now....not a good place unless you have tons of bots and are selling gold orruns...then you are makign actual real life cash as people are paying for thsoe runs with real life cash. Sick place that....retail wow...really sick place.

@@suminshizzles6951 Pretty easy to make gold in dragonflight by just doing world quests, that's 15-20k gold every week alone. You don't need a ton of gold to do endgame activities; flasks are 30-50g per, food is 20g, the most expensive enchant is 6-8k. Having your crafted gear made is 5-10k, and you only get 1 piece of crafted gear every two weeks. World quests alone on one character supply you for basically all of your endgame content. And it becomes even easier if you do your world quests on alts and start getting 40k, 60k, 80k a week. It sounds like you haven't played wow in a very long time and have some personal vendetta against some random guy.
The reality is that retail wow isn't a place to easily make MASSIVE amounts of gold in the first place unless you're educated on how to make it; you don't just randomly get millions of gold. But unless you're simply interested in buying BMAH mounts or something, why would you care about having so much gold in the first place? You don't need it. That's not really the endgame loop most players care about. What retail players mostly care about is progressing through difficult content, which retail delivers on. M+ and high end raiding are satisfying and challenging, and take very little gold to actually sustain.

I have been preaching for about a year now that they should just make at least 1:
    - Repeating Vanilla server, goes through the span of Vanilla WoW from launch until the pre-patch for TBC
    - Repeating TBC server, goes through the span of TBC until the pre-patch for WOTLK
    - Repeating WOTLK server, goes through the span of WOTLK (until the Cata pre-patch?)
These servers would go on for 1 year, and then simply reset. Or perhaps an option to transfer your progress during the final pre-patch to an existing server that runs repeating TBC/WOTLK and so on.
This would continually trap whoever wants to play either of these versions (and would ofc be open for people to just enter them and play whenever they so please).
I realise there isn't that much hype surrounding them as there was the "1st" (second) time around with Classic releases, but hearing "wow this server is gonna START FRESH" will always bring in players - and especially those who prefer the expansion or version that is starting fresh.

It's just the better choice overall to have classic servers for every expansion. I do think it's good that they are going to do all expansions, BUT then keep a TBC and WOTLK server active. When Classic was first announced way back when, i genuinely was excited to see how Blizzard would tackle Cataclysm. I was even eager to see beyond it, to see if maybe this time around we could fix the problems that led to the Need for Classic to begin with.
Whether or not people want to acknowledge it, Classic wasnt just about experiencing old content. It was about breaking away from the Modern MMO and playing a different game. To get away from micro-transactions, from mechanics that while convenient ultimately sucked the soul out of the game. "The Spirit of Classic" was a phrase used alot early on and i think even the more die-hard vanilla fans were still ok with the idea of QOL changes to make the game more comfortable. At this point though it is clear that isn't the mantra anymore.
To me Classic died when they implemented paid boosts, it died when blizzard left the community to rot without moderating the botting/goldbuying. I gave TBC/wotlk classic a chance but i just couldn't get over the culture changes that come from things like boosting and the gold token. It became Retail-lyte and at that point i asked why not just play retail. Vanilla is far from the best iteration of the game but people keep getting that itch for it because they want a return to playing an MMORPG built to waste your time but for the sake of fun.
Cataclysm and beyond weren't mistakes, its these soul-less changes that prioritize convenience over gameplay that ruin the fun. Some people like it that way, which makes Retail for them, but Classic was for us. It was for people that understood and enjoyed a game that made your time investment matter.

ikrrrr... classic wow is superior over retail wow.... classic wow is the new main wow game and it's totally not because some idiots wanna play the game and its because classic is correcting the mistake of retail.... yes retail wow is a mistake...... ikrrrrr.... if only blizz knows..... and make classic + and invest their time in recycled content...... XD..... retail wow totallly sucked the soul outta the game...... having adventure guide so that people do not need to use atlaslootclassic, a third party addon, is sucking the soul outta the game...... XD..... hmmmm what else....????? having tmogs is bad and making mounts account wide is bad...... awww cryyyyy..... making yourself needing to farm the same mounts again on other alts so that they can use those mounts that u have on ur main is such a good design.... it totally elevates the spirit of playing wow. it's preserving the soul of the game..... XD...... i agree with u man...... all hail classic... classic wow is flawless...... there's nothing wrong with the game at all...... it's made with perfection..... we have to keep glorifying it..... (ignores the countless flaws that suck in classic)..... hmmmmm thats the way...... farming the same mounts on different toons is so fum am i right.... it totally isnt unnecessary and time wasting..... oh yesss.... and i love seal twisting and auto attack simulator with one button rotation.... that is peak mmo design and peak mmo feeling..... mmos are most fun when classes do not need braincells to be played at all and just let the game play it for u by auto attacking...... XD.... if a class in an mmo needs more than one button in the rotation.... IT'S BAD!!!!!! IT SUCKS!!!!!! XD. oh and i cant ignore the paid services..... even though i dont use them....... i cant let people who want to use them have a chance to use them....... if i see it in the game even though i dont use them, ill get AIDS...... my heart will stop pumping as the classic spirit is no longer getting pumped into my bloodstream..... awww cryyyyy....... I played cata classic the last two days. It is a ugly mess. Easy as piss but people in RDF who dont know the meachincs are causign wipes and huge arguments blaming the healers ect. I just unisntalled the game. I am not going back and i played cata in 2010 on retail. I know the game. The game right now has a lot of retail boys who are used to the faster pace but cant deal with the slower cata pace. Us healers are not allowed to drink. Half mana before a pack pull in cata and classic cata is a risk. Not to them. Fack the game. I am done. Uninstalled it. The game now also has a bot problem as there are now flocks and flocks of druids stealing resources. I had trouble getting herbs. So ...no more...no thanks

The token and what relasing that says to people is also a matter. Are they stunting gold making opportunities in the game and giving out less godl to players during their playing so they can sell tokens?
AH prices were always on teh crazy side and only those with deep pockets or those who constantly checked for the price of an item might get a deal. Otehrwise the item you want or need for a quest is %1000 the price it nees to be. Enchanting rods come to mind. Want to enchant? Cool. Fork over all of your earned cash that you made the last year or make your own blacksmith. I am sure that blacksmithing has it own problems with requiring items from another profession.
Which all leads to either more grinds to get the items cheaper by makign them yourself.....buying tokens so you can buy them.
Everything in thsi game leads down the path of boosts to lesson time needed todo things. Want that season level 15 mount from mythic plus but cant do the 15 as it is too hard. Buy a bossting run. Yours today for only 609.999k.
Retail is a cesspit. It really is and i am not sure i am going to play the war within as all the problems we have now are only goign to get worse.
More people buying "boosts since they suck so bad they cant do things and require being hand held through the game so they can show off their cool mount they did not earn. If i cant do it. I dont do it. I spend real life cash on getting it.
Trade spam in trade channel. I leave that channel in every major city as soon as i enter. That cesspool of degenerate bots spamming non stop year in year out is digusting.
And this i what the game has become. A cash cow for all those still left. I dont even think their are enough whales now to even keep them goign as the "player friendly" changes that we screamed about for the last 20 years are finally cming.....only 20 years too late. Why is that? Subs dropping through the floor since the game requires youi to play it like it is your actual job?

So how do you think they should handle the XP differences between the vanilla zones during Vanilla/TBC/WOTLK then? if its as simple as an option to transfer to TBC at 58 etc, how do they handle lvl 1-58, if you only wanna play wotlk is it tough shit? can only lvl at vanilla lvling speeds? I'm no classic veteran so shoot me, but every time I see people talk about Classic in one way or another the major complaint is raidlogging and whatnot. I feel the whole argument for having all versions of the game always be available rests on a fantasy that everyone will continuously keep up their enthusiasm for that era of the game. I just don't see how people will actively keep playing the same version of a game for a sustained period of time.
I'd say its much more healthy to just progress, and going through old expansions seems like a good way to go about it. Where do you stop? The farm/wipe cycles that were progression, and only to replace every piece of that gear (geared earned by raiding for thousands of hours) within 5 levels in the next expansion. What if they made the xpacs past WOtLK without the overhaul. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but imagine playing these with talent point systems of classic.
Another thing I would like to try is making a horizontal type of end game, like in ESO. Where the armor sets along with your talent points help you play the way you want.
    Just a thought

honestly there should just be a server dedicated to each expansion since (and including) classic. and then you can transfer your character from one to the next at max level if you choose to. this would make it optimum for people trying to experience the whole story, or people that only want to stay in one expansion.

flying mounts have always hurt world pvp ever since it was implemented in TBC (HOWEVER it works better in TBC than it did any other expansion)
dungeon finder also hurts world pvp (and pve) because everyone's just chilling in a city waiting for dungeons to pop while scrolling on youtube lol
i was already discouraged to play cata because right after announcing cata they said "yeah we're going to MoP as well"

I remember discussing this very idea on the official WoW forums. A means of progressing a character from Vanilla to TBC to WotLK at your leisure. This would have massive appeal to many and perhaps completionists in particular. Being able to collect the various tier sets for each class in vanilla before progressing them into TBC and doing it again with one added class and then doing so again to WotLK with another added class just has a lot of appeal to me. Moving Naxxrammas from EPL to Dragonblight certainly made a certain sense but losing access to tier 3 was a huge bummer. They did something unexpected with leaving original Onyxia in when they introduced the revamped version of Onyxia and I wished they had done the same with Naxxramas though I was led to believe that it would have involved a great deal more work considering the scale is a lot different.
In any event, yeah. If they were to do this I would gladly renew my subscription and would even pay extra if for whatever reason, a price hike was necessary. $20, $25, whatever. Just take my money and let me play through Vanilla->WotLk at my leisure.

We were planning to lock our levels at 60 and take our time with vanilla, then go to 70 and lock and take our time with Burning Crusade, then unlock and go to Lich King. That doesn't really work because with Cataclysm, they broke the game. So now our characters are broken too, thrust into the world we didn't want to be in.

If I had the option from blizzard I still probably wouldn't touch it until they address the lack of GMs and the obvious botting that plagues their servers. If a small private server can do it then a multi million dollar company has no excuse.

I have been a long time player, since Vanilla, and when I heard Wrath Classic was coming, I got very excited. I am actually in the camp of "I love Wrath and I love Cata, but there should be servers for each, not one replace the other.
Imagine my disappointment and displeasure to find Blizzard took down all the TBC servers, took out the cross-server Dungeon Finder, made it so gear score actually metters, then added that damned WoW token. I WAS willing to forgive all of this until I heard they were shutting all the servers down and moving towards Cata. I felt that Blizzard really didn't respect my time and money invested in the Wrath Classic experience by doing that, so I quit a couple of days after Ulduar opened up, no point in gearing for...NOTHING
I would definitely come back if they opened servers for TBC and Wrath, but I doubt they'd let me bring my characters I invested hours building up.
You have some great ideas, and I am 100% behind taking the in game store out of those versions.

  • @Marilynspook
    @Marilynspook Месяц назад

I think it's be good if they could integrate TBC and Wotlk servers into the classic (+) servers, so that all classic players can interact with each other and depending on the level cap you choose, you unlock the raids relevant. So if a tbc player goes to Azeroth they can chill with their vanilla friends and still see the lfg channels for vanilla raids for their alts f.e. to avoid tbc and wotlk servers dying because your friends are on different classics. That way you can have alts that go through wotlk and get the lvling experience. Some caps like item transfers and gold should apply to not make vanilla chars OP with tbc gear, etc.. even cooler if its a classic + server where there are some perks like talbuks for vanilla players if they get an alt exalted with the tbc rep

my biggest concern with 3 disparate "original trilogy" servers is the community fragmentation. I liked the idea of a rolling progression server that goes from Vanilla to WOTLK over several years, then starts over. However, I like your idea of being able to "promote" each of your characters up to a later expansion, that would be great for guilds! How do you solve for stale servers after a few years, though? Rolling Progression servers would "rollover" at the end of LK so it would be fresh again, not sure how it could be achieved with your idea here, but want to hear about it

  • @TheIndignation

Maybe they're worried about the playerbase being too split up now between Cata Classic, Dragonflight, Classic Era, Hardcore, Season of Discovery. TBC+WOTLK era would split people up a bit more, so maybe it's just not the time yet? Idk. But anyway it's definitely a great idea to do like 1 era server for each (or however many) in the format you suggest with no tokens/boosts etc and the transfer option would be cool too

I wholeheartedly agree. As soon as I heard that you wouldn’t just be able to stay in wrath I knew I was gonna stop touching classic WoW. Wrath is my ideal staying spot. I play blood elves, it’s what I played when I first started the game way back in burning crusade and it’s what I play to this day, but I also absolutely love the old world, where the quests weren’t nearly as hand holdy and you had to actually pay attention to what you were doing. And sadly vanilla classic and SoD can’t offer that for me :/ so I am very very sad to see the old world disappear for me

I've been saying this since they pushed TBC to WOTLK, just allow people to have the choice between staying in EXPs or Progress through them. Every char should be able to either move or be cloned. And sure if you want to take the char back to the previous exp, sure be a paid service. Otherwise make it free.

To be honest. I think Cata is still part of Classic. Mostly what Cata does is improve upon what is the initial concept that is made during the Wrath. The Class design itself is not really that different from what it is during Wrath. Maybe u add a bit more button but the talents and etc is mostly just Wrath talent which is condensed into better talent tree. And the fact is most of this leveling streamlined and stuff is also begin in Wrath. Heirloom and Streamline quest literally begin in Northrend in fact and how the questing in Northrend is just different compared to what u experience during TBC and Vanilla. It is just not fair to blame it all on Cata when in fact Wrath is where it begins of those thing and even in Wrath they added Heroic raid too which is not really something classic anymore supposedly and even then we basically see how sour it is by the end of WoTLK the state of the server itself.
