  • How To Improve Foot Contact Time Using Rhythm When Sprinting | Sprint Mechanics: The main focus I have in my sprinting is maximizing foot contact time. As I work on foot contact time I realize the importance of not only ankle stability but also the rhythm of the upper body needed to be quick off the ground. In this video I show you the coordination in the upper body with lower body to help your foot contact time. Enjoy!

Is FCT a proxy for energy efficiency of cycling, or is it about absolute speed? i.e. is there such a thing as too little ground contact?

Potentially during the start or driving phase as speed is being developed but not at top speed..

I have a question on how to improve your overall speed. I tend to accelerate heaps quicker because of my build (I’m transitioning from a rugby league player to a sprinter) but I can’t seem to stay as fast or get any quicker and everyone else catches me by the end of the race. What would I work on? For a reference I’m 17 and run around 11.2 for 100m

Typically in that situation I would say ground force.. If you have the natural capability of moving your legs quickly then maintaining strong ground force at top speed will allow longer strides and more upright running position..

My question is whether lower body tendon stiffness or compliance transfers to better ground contact times? Explosive isometrics like IMTP (

I mean overall I am more of a fan of plyometrics to increase GCT than explosive isometrics or isometrics in general..

@@Performancelabofcalifornia Since heavy muscled sprinters would produce higher ground reaction forces, they are likely to sink on ground contact having more compliance compared to their lean counterparts. Does that call for higher stiffness in big sized and higher compliance in lean guys?

Can you please make a video on drills to throw a football farther. My coach says that’s all I need to bet a better qb. Thank you so much.

What’s your PR in the 100 meter run?

Having your heel on the ground makes you much much slower, simple fix you can make to vastly improve top speed
