    3 months in...I use purified water mixed with rosewater and an oil blend. Its great!! I also use a smaller spray bottle as the larger bottles put out too much water. Also, dont want the oils to go rancid. Throwing out a little bit I wont mind much, throwing out a lot is wasteful. :)

    I've been on my loc journey for 11 months, and I've been trying different products, but I've settled for locsanity and canvas or Hollywood bar for my oil. My hair has been growing. I do have a Loctician because I'm legally blind and I can't see to do my hair. That is also why I started my loc journey. I love it so much❤❤❤❤🥰🥰

    I'm 4 months into my loc journey and I use a similar system to moisturize my locs. I was such a product junkie as a lose natural, so I'm still getting used to being a minimalist with my hair products lol. Right now, I moisture my locs with a rose water peppermint spray I purchased from Amazon, it also contains Castor oil, vitamin E , avocado oil and a mix of other oils. After I spray, I oil my scalp with castor oil, but I usually rotate b/w a few different oils. So far it works pretty well. I have 4c hair as well, and I have definitely noticed more dryness in this past month, so I feel your pain! It's weird because I used to steam my hair before applying my rosewater spray and oil. I would still get dry hair later in the day. Recently, I've stopped steaming my hair in the shower before beginning my moisturizing routine. From that, I noticed my hair retained the moisture better. I experienced a similar affect to what you described when using tap water in your spray bottle. The dryness was more prevalent after I would steam my hair in shower !

    I am so glad that I came upon this video. I too have been using water and rose water and my oil of choice is jojoba. I will now be cutting out the water. My locs can be dry and my scalp itchy. I was worried that the rose water was too concentrated, but maybe that’s the ish! I need the concentration! I know this video is older, but it is right on time for me. I started my locs in April 2022 and am learning a lot! I was thinking of adding a leave in moisturizer, but I am going to stick with the rose water/oil combo and see how that works! I used to use tap water when I was a loose natural but I realized that had my hair SUPER DRYY so when I started my locs tap water was out of the question loll. I use a mixture of rose water and vitamin E oil to moisturize my locs, still working on the oil to water ratio though but that combination works for me. In terms of my scalp I used a combination of Jamaican black castor oil and lavender which is a bit on the heavier side but I realize with that I don't have to oil my scalp too often. I'm new to the loc journey as well so I'm still learning. The sweet almond oil is on my list of oils to try in the future though.

    • @AlexisHarris
      @AlexisHarris  3 года назад +5

      Great question! For me, it depends. I do both depending on how close I am to my next retwist. After I’ve just had a retwist, I avoid getting my roots wet for as long as possible. But when I’m due for a retwist, I don’t necessarily care about my roots acting up 😅😍 so it’s up to you! I find more moisture when I sprits everywhere before oiling though 💖
