@@wunziedinoxxxfinally someone said what i was thinking… i find that male artists tend to only draw women a certain way and it honestly ruins the art for me. so many of them just see women as objects of beauty to admire rather than unique individuals with depth
Marc, your women look the same because your beauty standard for drawn women is very limited, not because drawing them differently would make them ugly. Most of your guys still look good, some rougher than others, but all of them are interesting to look at because their beauty isn't limited to one face. I'm 100% sure your women would also look gorgeous with bigger noses, sharper cheekbones, or a different face shape because your style is already inherently pretty. Unless you deliberately draw them like mutated witches, they'll still look attractive. It's a curse and a gift-make use of it! This video was great, but since you mentioned it, I had to comment on it. ;)

Every male you draw has a personality and very diffrent from each over but the female faces and bodies look always the same when your draw them... I would like if you could draw more realistic females with diffrent body types and faces .
you essentially said you focus on character (aka showing personality) only with male characters, and that female characters just have to look ‘beautiful’ to you. do you not see a problem with this? you aren’t qualified to teach this if you can’t draw women in more than one way. when it comes to drawing, especially character design, you shouldn’t limit how you draw women so much… sex and gender don’t define how a characters face looks, every person is so different and i find it to be one of the best parts of drawing people
I 100% think this video would have been better and more educational if he had explored more facial shapes for the women, but his content is mostly oriented at beginners, and beginners are probably going to want to learn how to draw 'pretty' women first, idk
I'm definitely biased towards "hahoo pretty lady", but I do agree that as a teacher he should've shown more varied faces for the women, it's just more interesting

It might be fun to try something like this, but with a counter-intuitive approach to change it up after getting most of the basics down. Draw a bunch of random blob shapes and try to figure out the best approach to turn them into faces. Sometimes that breaks away from having designs that are too pretty or handsome, as you can create some super "gonk" characters with absurd proportions to work with or flow into the form. In cartoons or comics, sometimes that's an interesting way to come up with big-bads, comic relief, or the odd but endearing characters - all because they give a break from the norm of the overall style.

I have a question about artstyle: Do I need to learn to draw realistic before stylizing or can I just go straight to developing an artstyle? Because I’ve looked online and there are people who yes and people who say that it’s not needed.
Not a pro, but I'll throw my 2 cents in based on things that I've heard. No, you don't need to learn to draw realistic first. It certainly can help if you do, because you can see the fundamentals that are being used in the picture easier. But the most important thing is having a foundation to your art. Without that, stylized characters will look broken; Not due to a stylistic choice, but rather from a lack of understanding of the fundamentals. Simply put, as long as you understand and can perform the fundamentals, you can move onto stylizing. As they say, "learn the rules so you can break them." Hope this helps, and happy drawing! :)
you should learn realistic first, then simplify what you've learned-- art style will develop naturally over time based off your taste ina rt and experience drawing!

I'm looking for something mid range / mid tier, something that can fully perform the tasks but not sacrifice user experience or cost an arm and a leg. We just discovered this and want to make to most of it. Can anyone help me? Many many kind thanks.
ngl I just improved my faces by 10 times watching this video instantly, thanks marc.
It will definitely help for the LearnToDrawIn1Year challenge, February session.
It's really good to watch in 0.25 slow
Humiliation starts at 6:32
Marc, doing practice for himself and also be a great teacher for his students alongside. The males are very cute. (The women anyway!) 🤭😍
Yo what if you did portfolio review's again for your viewers? I found them helpful but I didn't find them until a year into watching your channel off and on
I love that i've drawn some nice things before but every video I watch I feel even more incompetent bcuz why my heads look nothing like urs.
Yes u are a seasoned professional but still i wish i could just copy better
What is the song playing in the background when you're drawing all the faces?
i am in pain
Very helpful, thank you! What brush are you using for sketches? I can't seem to find one like that...
Thank you so much
