I don't think the MAGA followers are being duped. They really want a dictatorship. They threw their support behind Trump in 2015-2016 because they suspected that Trump might want to become a dictator. And have redoubled their support when he proved this in 2020-2021. Why? Motives vary, but the dropping percentage of Americans of just European descent is dropping and will drop below 50 % in the 2040's. So to them, dictatorship is the only acceptable option.
