I'm less interested in who wins a debate or fight than I am in what any politician actually plans to do for us.
Even if Trump is a reckless idiot with no interest in actually helping anyone but himself, he says what his followers want to hear and speaks to the issues they care about. It doesn't matter to them if his plans are illegal, impractical, or impossible. He shows them that he'll never quit.
Meanwhile, Biden is mostly running on not being Trump.
He's not taking a principled stand on Israel and losing the support of even people who despise Trump. The major drawback of the guise of moderatism is that it doesn't feel like they'd actually stand up for you when you really need them. And if you can't strongly denounce genocide and apartheid, something so shockingly and clearly horrible, can someone trust you to stand up for less immediate economic or human rights?
If your refusal to denounce genocide means you lose 100k votes in a state, but your opponent loses more votes from his party, what does it say about you if you consider that an acceptable loss of support? Haley made it clear that she would endorse Trump. She has larger concerns with Biden over Trump. So there goes that. Democrats should not get comfortable with feeling that Haley voters will largely vote for Biden. At best they would not vote and stay home. But if she does endorse Trump then you can expect a decent amount to follow her. That's just how this crazy game of politics goes.
A Fox poll (Yes FOX) showed that 38% of Haley voters would vote for Biden, because they hate Trump so much. Only 17% would vote for Trump, the others wouldn't vote or would support an Independant. Trump does not have much support outside his MAGA base, who are the real RINOs.
