I recently graduated with a degree in IT and security, and my advice to people going to college is to ask questions and build relationships with your professors. Also, try and get at least 1 or 2 internships, it will make your life much easier once you graduate. This is advice i wished i would have taken myself.
That sounds like work... rather, tell them you had "three or four of them big white computers from back in the day in the basement" when you were a kid. Apparently that is a qualification for IT helpdesk. 😂
I interviewed for a Cloud Engineer role and was unfortunately under qualified but they liked my attitude and energy! My interviewers set me up with an IT Specialist interview next week, wish me luck! I have a service desk interview tomorrow. The first interview I had was couple months ago and didn’t get the job. Watching your videos calm me down cause I be feelin like I’m not competent enough to get into tech
I know the feeling. When I interviews for my IT tech position almost 5 years at ago at a school district, it was a 4 person panel. I was not expecting that and it was nerve wracking. Luckily, all the interviewers were very nice and made the experience more comfortable. I think you'll be fine.
@@Unknown-je2fn My interview consisted of 10 questions I believe. Each interviewer would take turns asking questions. I don't remember them except for 1 which stood out to me. It was a list of 4 scenarios. I had to rank in what order I would attend to each scenario and why. I don't recall the full details, but it went something like: Consider the following 4 scenarios. Rank each scenario based on priority and why: 1. The school principal is having trouble printing. 2. The school secretary is getting an alert that her computer has a virus. 3. A student can't find his work that he knows he has saved. 4. A teacher is having trouble taking attendance on the SIS (Student Information System). In short, I answered: 2, 3, 4, 1 2. Virus problems (or suspected virus problems) are a high priority since they can affect not only the computer but they can propagate across the network. These support tickets take precedence any other support ticket. 3. I know as a student it can be very frustrating when you know you did your work but can't find it. Its possible the student saved it in the wrong location and didn't realize it or maybe he deleted it on accident. We can usually try to recover deleted files or figure out where they may have saved to. 1. Even though the school principal is an important person and we usually like to make sure they're attended quickly, printing is not that important in the overall scheme of things. If the document she needs to print is important, she can send it to a secretary or assistant principal and they can print it off for her in the mean time. I will eventually work with her to figure out what's going on, but there are objectively more important things to work on. 4. From what I recall as a student at that same district, I know teachers can take roll after class is over or they can call the front office and just tell the secretary which students were absent. In some instances, I've even seen teachers just note which students were absent on a piece of paper and either take it to the front office or have a student take it. This is the lowest priority ticket to work on as it is not critical in the overall scheme of things. I know this was long , but hopefully it was informative. Every place has different interview processes. But hopefully it gives you an idea of what to expect. And if they ask you if you have any questions regarding the interview or the job, ask something. That makes it appear that you're genuinely interested in the job. Good luck!
Can you make a video of past situations you've had when somethings came up and you had no idea what to do. Unless you have already made one. Did you send it to L2 after doing your research? That is what I see myself doing once I land a job. Would be nice to see what people do that are alrdy in the game. Thanks!
