The last video I made about #ResidentEvil3 was really lacking in what I've come to expect from the #REretrospective. So I figured it was about time I worked my way through every single way you could conceivably play Resident Evil 3. Игры
I got the flu really badly shortly after I bought a copy of Dino Crisis as a teen, and was couch ridden for a week. Tore through that game so many times.
Hope you don't get the flu again anytime soon with what's going on now.
@@griffin09 and miss out on two weeks paid vacation? I've been at the grocery store sucking on anything I can fit in my mouth.

“As luck would have it, I blew out my knee”
Well, there’s something you don’t hear everyday.
HA!
@@AvalancheReviews wow, I just slipped on black ice yesterday and messed up my knee, REALLY bad.
yea..... i blew out my knee twice. its not fun so that took me by suprise😂
Yeah man i was just walking around then i got a arrow in the knee
I used to be a football player, but then I took Resident Evil 3 to the knee.
That is so strange...I broke my kneecap playing soccer in Dec ‘99 so had the same experience sending my wife to buy RE3 and Dino Crisis to help pass the time.
And thanks for appearing on the First Aid Spray Podcast....those guys deserve a lot more exposure
I also had a very similair experience! My wife broke my kneecaps after I asked her to get Dino Crisis while I was playing Resident Evil 3 all the time!
Damn how old are you?
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in", dialogue from the Godfather part 3, inspired by Jared's experience covering the RE retrospective

I'm so glad this wasn't an April Fool's gag. I recently had a close family member die, and really... needed this content.
Thank you, Jared.
BLARGLESNARF Sorry to hear that!!!!
Eugene 47 Thank you internet stranger.
It’s most certainly weird, but I... really appreciate that.
Thank you.
Dude. No joke. I literally watch your silent hill videos all the time. They are my go to silent hill fix. I have watched them all multiple times. Love them.
Thanks so much! I'm still working on that series too don't worry. I have Downpour in my hands as we speak.
I’m honestly surprised Re3 never got ported to modern platforms.
Patrick PFC Same with the og 1 and 2
The Real Obscure true
Last real port were the digital version on PS3 that could be played on PSP and PSP Vita too.
Those are based on the PS1 classics though.
This industry honestly does not respect its own past/legacy.
The original games deserve HD Remasters based on the best versions available to modern consoles and pcs.
Sucks that the Nintendo DS port of Resident Evil 1 didn't sell well as Crapcom never ported RE2 or RE3 to it or 3DS.
Crapcom is basically no better than EA at times.
Genome Soldat Ive owned all of them on the ps3 and remember the ds version of 1 comin out. Never was as hyped for a game as that back then
@The Real Obscure, The DS port of RE1 is awesome. Did it not sell well and that's why they didn't port RE2 and RE3 too? I rarely see anyone talking about it.
But yeah, I'd like to see HD Remasters for the classic trilogy with all the extra content and no baloney censorship, plus achievements/trophies support.
There's just no "legal" way to buy and play the classics on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
No Epic Games Store option either...😉 (Steam of course lol.)
Jared bud, I hope you and your wife are well and safe during this time. Thanks for the upload. Always a pleasure to watch your videos, especially an RE video!
You know we're staying safe out here. We have plenty of food, a few firearms, enough toilet paper, and some dope ass games. You keep that family safe too man!
A mirrored sentiment! Love binging all of your retrospectives - very insightful and just all around great content! Keep being you Jared!
You’re the best, Terrance! Hope your wife and baby are doing well too. 💜
Seeing the price of those gamecube component cables make me really depressed as I know I have one somewhere around my house and I paid no where near that price back in the days, and for the life of me i cant find it.
Maybe someone took it idk
@@TheFurryInShambles or threw it away :'(
Apparently, Carby cables are cheaper and better-looking. Still $90 tho.
You could always get a GCHD attachment, but I think those are still kinda expensive.
I was ten when RE3 came out. I had recurring nightmares of him chasing me every night for 6 months.
Still my favorite monster ever.
I'm sure a bunch of people suffered with that. HA!
"Laughs in all re4 ports"
RE4>RE2 Remake>>>>>RE3 Remake.
Though honestly...
RE1 Remake 2002>>>>RE4.
I hope he uses all this effort to make the Zeebo port look amazing.
How about Skyrim ports?
Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 2, Final Fantasy IV, Super Mario Bros, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and Minecraft. The Horsemen of the Aportcalypse
@@Gruntvc I liked RE2 remake muuuuuuuch better than RE4. But yeah, RE1 Remake is the best RE game, by far.
My mom played this game with me back in 2008, late, i know, but when i was sick and felt like doing nothing but sleep, my mom handed me a walkthrough and we played the game together. Loved this game, and still play it when i feel ill.
That Capcom intro sound. So Nostalgia.
The Seamless HD project got ported to the SouceNext version of the game, pair that with Apple of Eden's Classic REbirth mod and you can get the best of all worlds: The graphical quality of the mod, the instant screen transitions and door skipping of the SourceNext version, no texture wobble of the PS1 or original PC versions, and highest quality audio as well.
It is the definitive classic RE3 package!
This and RE2 were my favorite games on the Play Station back when they were released. Seeimg this footage and playing the games these days puts a smile on my face, remembering playing back then.
Don't know if anyone noticed the exploding DeLorean car in one of the cut scenes. I really think that was a nod to Back to the Future.
It's also in the pre rendered background before the explosion.
I absolutely love port comparisons and Resident Evil, your channel is perfect for me. Thank you.
RE3 has so much nostalgic memories for me and it's always been my favorite in the franchise and you've given me more reasons to go back and replay the original as well as love it more than I already do
Love the channel Jared! Got hooked through the silent hill videos and your awesome personality and style just keeps me watching! Keep it up man and thanks for your videos:)!
Thank you so much for that story in the beginning, that was really nice to listen to!
Glad you liked it!
Amazing content as always. I'm super excited with these game bro! Cool story about your knee! Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant video as usual! Really loving the RE retrospective!!
Always happy to see more of this!
6:34 I agree, the improvement in CGI cutscenes looked like an unreal step up from the RE2 ones.
Getting out of work and seeing a new retrospective video is an awesome feeling. Hope you're doing well in this troubling time Jared
Excellent video Jared, glad you had fun despite blowing out your knee :D
Looking forward to get my hands (and see your review) of the RE3make. I was hoping US retailers would follow suite like other countries and release the game early but no dice.
I'm glad the Seamless HD mod got its due. The guys behind it deserve massive kudos and yeah that version is now definitively the best way to replay RE3 (and RE2) for me as well.
Glad you’re still dropping videos in these trying times. You da man Jared!
Of course! I couldn't leave you guys wanting.
I played this when it came out and didn’t like it at all.came back at it about 20 years later and I absolutely loved it.your retrospectives have brought me back to the games I grew up on and led me to play the ones I missed.keep kicking ass Jared! 🤟
for most Japanese installers you have to change locale on the computer. Theres a few Locale emulators available, when used it show the correct symbols instead of gipperish. It also fixes some of the errors in some cases because it then can read the correct symbols.
thnx u
Love your vids. Can't wait for resi 3! Keep up the good work
I just want to say that you did such an amazing job on this retrospective, you honestly made the 90s nerd in me shed a tear of happiness. I don't feel like a 36 year on man but instead I still feel like a teenager from the 90s living in the future I can't wait for the remake!!!! Thank you!!!
what a great time to see this video in anticipation for RE3 remake 😊 great one keep em coming!
Feels good to anticipate the game and your Resident Evil retrospectives one more time!
Thanks again for mentioning our Seamless HD Project, that means a lot to us and we're so glad to see people enjoying it :)
Jared you're amazing, so cool the work and love you put on your videos. RE3 was my first RE, I played it a million times in my PS when I was a kid but it's been a while since my last playthrough. With all the hype surrounding the remake realese maybe it's a good time to play the original one more. Plus the seemless HD project looks good.
I truly look forward to your RE3 Remake video. Keep safe, man.
Lmao so g.y
Thank you for this !! I love the way you break everything down in your videos, looks like
now I gotta get my hands on the original RE3 now, keep up the awesome content 👍👍
All of the classic RE games are well worth getting your hands on. The recent quote-unquote "remakes" don't do them justice.
Same thing with this series more sinister, distant cousin saga, the Silent Hill quadrilogy. Just keep away from the AWFUL "HD Collection".
@@GugureSux I have played through the re0 remake and really enjoyed that, i think ill run through the RE remake on xbox one .. my pc needs upgrades . . . after watching the silent hill retrospective, that game looks like a total mind bender
Y E S, two days Jared, hope you're doing well my bro stay safe
Killin it bro per usual can’t wait until u do a retrospective on the new RE3
THANK YOU! This video was amazing! Resi 3 is my favorite and I learned SO much especially about seamles HD project! just WOW!! (i'm suprised you didn't talked about the PS3 version lol). Can't wait for your Resi 3 remake review. I would be nice if you did a in depth look on all the ports of Resi Code Veronica, since I do find very odd they choose to port the ps2 version to the PS4 and not the PS3 HD remaster.
Looking forward to your take on RE3 Remake after it drops this weekend. Hoping it can deliver the same amount of joy as RE2 did last year. I love this retrospective bro! Thank you for all the work you have done to document the history of this franchise, which like many of us here, means a metric shit ton to me!
Well that's all the thanks I need. If I can provide a little entertainment for fellow RE fans, then I've done my job.
The OG RE3 is my favorite Resident Evil game to replay.
Amazing content as always
For GC in HD just softmod your Wii U.
Ça rend bien de jouer à des jeux gamecube sur wiiU? Ça fait 2 ans que j’ai pas touché à ma WiiU, en vrai ça pourrait être intéressant de m’en servir pour jouer à mes jeux de gamecube.
The wii u has a dirty hdmi out though, that's why people hd mod their wiis
You want me to do what with my wii wii? Why would I want to soft mod my wii wii why can't I hardmod it?
It was Raccoon City's last chance and my last chance. My last escape
As usual, hit the like button before the video even starts, Great vid.
Jared, great work on this video once again. Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is an underrated game IMO. I recently replayed it twice since playing it back in 1999 and realize how rich in RE lore and content is in it. Sure it isn't as good as RE 2 but the impending release of the remake has awakened the RE fan base. I wanted to express my appreciation for your hard work and also wanted to say your content is always in demand. Thank you for every thing and please, KEEP STREAMING! Love ya man.
14:30 The WiiU can natively run GC games, though you need to load them up using Homebrew.
And since the WiiU uses standard HDMI output.... well, you got a great multi-system retro device, that's compatible with modern display systems, out of the box, and lets you also force progressive scanning and various aspect ratios!
Tried this myself a few years back, and especially on the Tablet the game looks damn great.
Awesome vid Sir. Oh, and I understand and feel your pain on the knee. Patella tendon surgery when I was Active Duty, each knee. While healing, I played an ass ton of PS1 also.
Thanks for keeping the content coming, bud. These help deal with the bullshit we're all living through these days. God bless everyone!
Happy to help in what little way I can
Stoked to hear your thoughts on the remake!
That's a very nice retrospective (: Played the Resident Evil 2+3 Seamless HD Project a month ago, it is the best way to experience the game today in my opinion, those HD backgrounds are just beautiful.
You're not wrong. They're killer
I had a japanese Playstation back then and owned Biohazard 3...thank god you could identify all items on sight 😄 good review & comparison, as usual 👍
Dude, your videos are making me play some old ass games again. I think "how am I gonna remember how to play this?"... 10 mins later I'm a master of tank controls again. I gotta give my Dreamcast another hug now.
Hey, guy. I kind of forgot about your channel, but you'll be pleased to know I've clicked the bell, so I know when you've put up something new (which I obviously don't do often). Looks like I have some catching up to do... Glad to see you're still here and making vids.
After this, I wanna see Capcom remake Dino Crisis. I feel like that series didn't get enough credit.
Gosh, I love your channel
Not gonna lie, was waiting for that talk about your leg injury to be an extended April Fool's joke. Anyway, another killer video, RE3 is so impressive that they threw this game together in a year, seeing all the insanely clean PC mods of it makes me want a coffee table art book of all the prerendered backgrounds.
I’ve been playing the GameCube version on my Wii. I modded it, so I can force Progressive Scan, and because it’s a first-gen Wii, it still has the Gamecube controller and memory card slots. The added convenience of having RE3 on a hard drive is nice as well. It’s been great playing through it again. The only other version I have is the PSN Store version that plays on PS3 and Vita. I might end up playing through it on portable just for the fun of it.
Now Jared, I KNOW when you cover RE4 ports you're gonna start with the Zeebo version right?
Fantastic vid, thanks!
It's called fate, it your injury was supposed to happen so you could play this masterpiece!!!
I'm a simple Man, I see a new retrospective I press like.
Very happy tonight watching your and sphere hunters RE3 videos. Love your videos
While you were mentioning your injury, while I felt bad for you, I just thought "Resident Knee-vil". I think the pun center of my brain is broken, I apologize.
I just wanna say
I can't wait for the Resident Evil 4 Ports comparison video.
Love your RE videos! Hope you’re doing well during our real life Resident Evil: Outbreak 😅
Perfect time to release an HD remaster of the Outbreak games.
Instead, we got Project Resistance and it sucks. Thanks Crapcom.
@@Gruntvc Instead we got 2 phenomenal remakes with the latter having a free bonus multiplayer mode. Honestly, i'm not sure why anyone would complain about Capcom lately. They've been killin it
@ART V, "Phenomenal remakes." If you're talking RE1 Remake 2002, absolutely.
RE2 2019 is more a reimagining than a full on faithful remake. Content and cutscenes were already cut from the 1998 classic. Plus, they absolutely phoned in the B scenarios.
As for Resident Evil 3 Remake, Yeah, Capcom is Crapcom. History repeats itself.
There's a good reason they bolted on Project Resistance, which originally was meant to be its own stand alone game.
100% convinced Shinji Mikami would've likely done by far a better job with the team he had for RE1 Remake 2002.
Yawn. We get it, you're a super og hardcore resident evil fan. Only the original approach will ever satisfy your standards. But i also played these games when i was a wee lad and i'm personally happy with how they've remade 2 and 3.
I don't expect their vision to perfectly match mine. For instance, I think they dropped the ball with the music for RE2. I had to play with it swapped over to the original soundtrack. But i'm hard pressed to say the quality of these remakes is "crap". They really didn't have to do anything. They could have kept pumping out garbage like RE6.
More awesome analysis Jared, I personally play the DC port - partly because of the VMU stuff and also because my TV seems to upscale DC better than composite PS1. Though that being said, I was tempted to try the PS1 classics version on PS3, which looks lovely upscaling this era.
Can't wait for you to review the remake in a couple days.
Wow I never knew anything resident evil before 4 could look that damn good, those cutscenes actually look awesome!
You might like a little franchise called, Disaster Report. It's basically survival horror gameplay without the zombies/monsters.
There's a new one releasing on April 7th for PS4 and Switch. We haven't seen this series in the US since the two PS2 games.
I’m a newer resident evil fan started by watching the last movie then jumped into re7 loved it so much but I kinda forgot about the series until the re2 remake and then I fell in love with the series all over again and that’s when I decided to jump the gun and buy every single re game I could and that’s quite a lot for the Xbox one luckily. My favorite re game is code Veronica and I’m excited to see if they make a remake for that but the real reason I want to comment is because for my birthday this year I asked my sister if she could get me a ps1 with all of the resident evil games that way I can say I played it all and experienced it all... but I also just want to see how the series changed over time. So if your reading this thank you for taking the time and I hope you can share some similar experiences.
Loving that intro.
Boy, am I glad we have Resident Evil 3 Seamless HD now. To me it is the definitive way to play the OG RE3 on your computer! The menu screen especially hasn't looked better thanks to the newest update they did back in October!
rock an mcable or an mclassic at the end of your processing chain dudeman, appreciate the content as always
Crazy to think this was sapposed to be treated as a side game, but completes the PS One trilogy and is a perfect book end to the Racoon City set games, great content as always Jared 👊
The ol' arrow to the knee/ Resident Evil combo. Classic.
2 great tastes that taste great together.
The seamless HD mod with a GameCube adapter for smash Bros is just awesome, I played through RE3 with a Wavebird on my 4k tv.
The Seamless HD project is awesome! I recently played 2 and 3 this way, and it was great!
mikamiga Out of all Seamless HD is best of the best.
Do you know how to make it work with android version of dolphin? How do you install the patch 😅
The "long list" of equipment to get Gamecube's RE3 looking good:
-A Wii
-Component cable (the cheap ones will do)
-The game
And If you really want the best possible:
-A CRT
I can never understand what he's talking about when it comes to all the video manipulation jargon, but I know I like it.
I like this port comparison and I'm an AV nut too. I'm currently playing Resident Evil 3: Nemesis through a Denon AVR x4300h receiver via HDMI (it's really the console's vga output converted to hdmi) on the Sega Dreamcast. The Denon receiver is converting the picture in it's game mode from 480p to 4k perfectly and it looks incredible. The stereo soundtrack gets converted to Dolby Pro Logic 5.1 using an 80hz THX standard crossover and its just a good time. If anyone has a home theater receiver with hdmi and a decent upconverter I highly recommend giving this a shot. Many people have this method available as an awesome upconverter for their consoles and they don't even know it.
You should upload full playthroughs for each resident evil where you talk about all the details as you make your way through
ayy new intro!
PS1 RE3 is my first ever RE. Good (and scary) days.
14:30
Or just use dolphin.
I've tried the HD texture pack on the Dolphin emu, and can confirm it's pretty amazing to see, especially if all you're used to is the PSX version.
Great vid
Thank you!
Maybe it didn't came out back then. But i recommend RE3 classic rebirth over restoration, and it is mostly because it has better options.mod support, respects the sourcenext video framerate. And it seems to be the best when it comes to pick the best of each version.
I love playing RE3 in the easy mode and just tear it up. Glad the remake has that as well.
17:16 - Is that a Delorean in RE3?! I had no idea Doc and Marty travelled to Raccoon City... 😅
Worth noting, you can now get a copy of the Source Next port from the RE 3 Randomizer discord.
Just as an update (not a fault of your vid at all, because the option wasn't there yet). The Classic REbirth mod for this game works really good now and fixes a lot of stuff that the other guy didn't fix (the guy who scrubbed the subtitles off the SourceNext cutscenes).
I use an upscaler for a Wii for Gamecube games and it makes for a great picture given the ancient hardware
I haven't watched this yet, but you better talk about the REHD projects in here! I'm playing the R3 one right now :-)
Honestly even without all that expensive equipment, I still think the GameCube version is the best console version of the main three, even with cheap component cables on a Wii. It's also the only version that's totally uncensored, at least minus a supposedly existant uncut PS1 version. I never tried or even thought of forcing it to 480p though, even though I easily can.
A what a time to be a RE fan..if you owned a GameCube back then.. RE1 Remake, RE Zero, RE4.. RE2 and RE3 ports.. Really good ports at that..
I was just playing this on my Dreamcast on a CRT monitor for a retrospective review last month, and my FMVs looked nothing like that. It seems like it may be something to do with changing signals.
Edit: lol nvm think i misunderstood
6:39
"Wut r they 🤔"
*1 second later
"NOOOOO!"
3:46 after seeing Oddheader's newest video, I can't help but see that face in the gap at the top.
Nice little surprise on the 1st of April i gotta say!
One of my favourite RE-Games. I first played it on PC, since I didn’t have a PS1.
In Germany we’ve had an awfully butchered version of the game in which the blood effects were grey instead of red and zombies didn’t bleed out but just disappeared after a few seconds when you killed them.
But even despite that the game was awesome.
Thank you for this. I'm going to rip my GC disc and give Seamless HD a go.
Just curious on the GameCube version - could you get a similar result if you used a Wii with component cables as you would with the GC?
It would look like it does on a stock gamecube. Meaning, you would only get 480i. Which doesn't look too bad, but check out my gc 480p vs 480i comparison in the video to get an idea for what it would look like on your wii.
There is one potential alternative as far as playing the GC version with component cables. If anyone owns a backwards compatible Wii and using the component cables for that console though I'm not sure how it'll look with or without using other scaling options. Also curious question about the OSSC. So I recently played a number of games on PS2 with 4x multiplying since that's as far as my monitor can handle. For some odd reason though if I try to record anything with my Elgato Elgato 4k60 Pro Mk. 2 it defaults to 480p as opposed to 960p. The only sort of work around I've been able to figure out is just to switch over to OBS but then I have to have the footage be forced into 1080p. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
