After seeing AEW live in Duluth, Ga this week, I can confirm what you’re saying is true. I was at Dynamite, Collision, Rampage, and Ring of Honor. I really believe if AEW utilizes who they have, they can achieve anything.
It's not hard to understand - the Bucks are jealous because Punk gets more pops and reactions despite being away from wrestling for so long than they do. The Bucks are supposed to be Hardy Boys 2.0 but only hit a modest level of success - they were never going to go to wwe and be a top team like the Hardy's. But Tony fell for their bs and made them important in AEW...and then came Punk. Suddenly he was getting attention, FTR were again getting attention and the Bucks and all their little friends were irrelevant. When he got fired, they thought they had one-upped him because he was gone from AEW and there was no way he was going back to wwe, his career was done. And then hell froze over and Punk was suddenly the hottest thing in wrestling and the Bucks were irrelevant again. They will never be in the position he is and it drives them nuts because 6 months after they retire, they will be forgotten by fans and no one will be chanting their names during matches just like no one is doing now. They think this is edgy and gets them attention but really, it just makes them look desperate.
Calling anyone desperate after writing up all this fanfiction copium is a move. -_"only hit a modest level of success"_ Being the top team in 5 promotions is _"modest"_? -_" they were never going to go to wwe and be a top team"_ Nobody is. And a ton of teams and people sign with wwe because it is still the top promotion in the world, that's where your name reaches the most people. Even if you are there just a couple years, you use that recognition once you leave. If the Bucks are such a great team and so successful and popular, why don't their segments draw massive ratings? Also soon Swerve resigns with WWE, Flop Dolla rejected again, Y2tonNDA tries to Netflix and Chill the rest of the female roster, and Tony Khan snorts the ashes of Herb Abrams.
One problem you're missing the belt needs to go on Swerve asap, Tony has the tendency when someone gets over despite his booking to delay the obvious and pull the trigger on them. Swerve is the closest thing they have to an over main event babyface belt needs to have been put on him during the threeway. But if they put the belt on Paige and have Swerve chase him that may cool him off. Then again I may be wrong as a face chasing the belt always draws more money than a face having it. But yeah Swerve is amazing. I remember watching him beat Riddle for the MLW belt when Court started the company back up and he was amazing back then
Why can't we just all enjoy wrestling... When did we all start complaining about a show so much... If u don't like it then just turn the channel sheesh
Only 25-30?? That’s them being told to can that crap and work. They throw 25-30 of those shitty little pattycake kicks every 15 seconds, every MasseyGill match. Ineffectual, noodle legged superkicks that couldn’t punch through wet paper. Now you know why people who wrestle them don’t sell… There’s nothing to sell !
The Bucks have only ever been as over as the singles star whose coattails they’ve ridden. They were in a big rush to bring Okada in as the new singles star/leader of The Elite to replace Omega because they know that they can’t survive on their own.
The Bucks are ridiculous, and their most diehard fans even more so. They have NEVER gotten over with anybody beyond the core base that was with them BEFORE AEW. They’ve never once even been the most over tag team *in a company they founded*. At this point we have years of TV data demonstrating that (unless they’re in the ring with somebody who IS over), they at best don’t draw viewers and at worst drive them away. I’m also not sold on Page - but his babyface run has been lame from start to finish so trying a heel one is worth a shot.
I disagree, I think the Bucks do this stuff out of ego, and things they think are funny. I hate that it didn’t work out between all parties involved. Punk MJF was gold and with that roster he had some interesting match ups over there.
Swerve would make a great champion for AEW's viewership. However, is Swerve the only Black wrestler everyone should be revolving around to be champion in AEW? Why is it always one Black man or woman surrounding themselves with a number of Whites? Oh that's right because AEW can't tell compelling stories with its old, current and newest roster of wrestlers. The Book of Hobbs should be re-introduced. Do something with Hobbs! And where are the Black women in the Women's Division! OMG!!! Athena, where are YOU?! I've said this for a long time now and that is Tony Khan is NOT a fan of Black wrestlers. If THAT were true, Swerve would have been champion at the PPV instead of giving pity party promos about why he should be champion for AEW!!! 🤔🤔
Where's Athena? Same place she's been since _Final Battle 2022_ -_"TK isn't a fan of black wrestlers unless this one specific wrestler wins this one specific match"_ How do you function?
Well, that all makes perfect sense. But I like this direction with the Young Bucks. It's got me watching AEW again anyway, and yes, Swerve should definitely be the face of AEW.
AEW and their creative have a really hard time connecting with fans. Because like you said, they make a lot of the show contact for Dave. Bringing top stars from njpw And marketing them as the next thing without any developmental connection to American fans that are watching AEW as a healthy alternative to WWE is where they are supposed to be positioned. But instead they want to be WWE Competition while trying to be the top of the mtn for the indies. Indie fans don't sell out arenas or buy 8 to 12 PPVs a year indie fans dont need stories and build up on weekly scheduled television to be hype for a match.
I think they're new heel gimmick fits them properly, they're feeding into the hate. Swerve better win the AEW World Title this year! Trust me AEW needs Swerve! Tony Khan better not screw this up
I’ve been saving up money and reading classic literature at the chance I might be able to watch AEW one day, but it just seems so far out of reach in this economy 😞
The Bucks problem is they only appeal to a very niche indie audience, they just found a money mark they could have influence over, the only reason Jack Perry still has a job, he's friends with the Bucks, Darby Allin"s promo a few weeks ago had some truth to it, it's All Friends Wrestling as far as the Bucks go
This is what I was thinking I don’t watch aew but it had my interest during the cm punk situation and instead of capitalizing on it they just released cm punk and ignored him
I dream of the day when Adam Page and MJF jump ships to WWE. At the same time. And have them interact with each other backstage as if picking it up from where they leave off in AEW.
All the Bucks had to do was actually meet with Punk and settle things so that money could be made off the situation, but nope they didn't want to (Tony as the boss should have made them but like a chicken tender he's boneless so there ya go). Punk seems to have genuinely moved on and is happ (for now) back in the Fed, so honestly who cares? Him and Cody are still the biggest stars in AEW and that is 100% on Tony not stepping up and getting things resolved and the Bucks doing whatever they want.
Why would you indulge a child throwing a tantrum? Phil couldn't even go a week without incident on his own containment show. _"Punk seems to have genuinely moved on and is happ"_ lol. lmao
Only thing that matters is WWE got injured punk and not ready Jade meanwhile AEW signed Will, Okada and bout to debut Mercedes if they can book it right they’ll be fine and grow
The heel authority figure only really works when you have a super babyface to stack the odds against. Outside of Austin this doesn't seem to really work and Austin tended to get over on McMahon most of the time. AEW doesn't have it and WWE has never really done well with it outside of Austin. TK is not the counterbalance. I don't know much about Strickland but he doesn't remotely come across as a Stone Cold level talent. Punk was probably the only guy who could've feuded with them credibly and they wasted it. The fact that it was real made it better. Danielson might have worked but he's retiring.
Love AEW, I’m glad there’s more places for wrestlers to work and provide a life for themselves/their families, however, the WWE digs and shots are getting old. There’s lots of good in AEW but the focus on WWE is becoming a detriment to them in every way. At first it was whatever, sometimes even like “oh shit they got em there” but now it’s just coming off like a jealous ex who can’t move along, it’s nearly obsessive, like if AEW was a real person this would sound like the start of a murder documentary. They took his favourite thing, so he took their everything.. but because these are legitimate million/billion dollar companies, it’s kind of just sad to watch AEW do this.
Getting booed doesn't necessarily make someone an effective heel. The boo's the Bucks and Hangman get are the wrong heat. It's go away we are tired of this, not you bastard I can't wait for the baby face to get even. Honestly they should go back to NJPW with JB to attempt some career resuscitation
Matthew and Nicholas are much closer to being Mr. Mid Life Crisis than The Rock is. Even with flaws, Rock is able to pull off the heel authority vibe because he has an actual aura and gravitas, while still being able to crack jokes (Solo singing the National Anthem is still hilarious 😂). But the Bucks don't, they seem more like substitute assistant principals than actual authority and they just come off too goofy. When Mike Adamle and Brad Maddox are more believable as bosses than you, your whole angle is screwed! Its Bananas how far they have fallen in terms of perception and importance to wrestling.

Just 2 years ago they went from being one of those guys who uplifted tag team matches to being parasitic leeches sucking the whole company till the last dime. The same thing happened with WCW where Nash and Hall and some other wrestlers sucked WCW completely dry. But atleast they were entertaining. Thats the reason cody left after seeing how these indy guys really dont know the basics of working in a big company and just wrestling as a comedy show with no real storylines. There's a reason even Ring of Honor (even if it was only for a short time) had to hire guys like jim cornette who know what they are doing. At this moment tony just needs to take their evp titles and just have them as wrestlers.
Cornette booking ROH was the nadir of the promotion. Tell me again how they're being leeches after doing the honours for Sting. Cody left because he was a midcarder that wanted to get paid like THE guy.

@@KruelAidMan 5 promotions - ROH was their biggest in North America, not exactly the peak of the industry. And there are a million smaller promotions, being champ there isn't a mark of excellence. And a ton of teams and people sign with wwe because it is still the top promotion in the world, that's where your name reaches the most people. Even if you are there just a couple years, you use that recognition once you leave. If the Bucks are such a great team and so successful and popular, why don't their segments draw massive ratings? Or AEW in general? I mean, all these fans spending so much money on merch and such, should mean huge ratings. Reason is because they are not that successful or popular.
They wasted it? Phil's the one who got himself fired because he couldn't keep his hands to himself.
