I haven’t watched aew since Cody left. Aew tried to do some damage control after Cody left in 2022 when they said it wasn’t that big of a deal. He was the heart of aew. A body can’t live without the heart.

I'm an AEW fan but got to admit as soon as the continental classic began, I zoned out and it also killed alot of story segments that month. Roster is a mess.
Tony needs to start delegating his roles to people who have decades in the industry. Even better if they have experience in the wrestling industry and the entertainment industry so they can cater to everyone
I started to zone out after last year's DON. That was a garbage and thrown together PPV. I didn't mind the Forzbidden Door and All In. However after CM Punk was fired, I just lost interest.
Collision was made specifically to be the CM Punk Show and test the waters on a possible brand split. Now that he's gone it's just another Rampage which AEW really doesn't need. IMO they'd be better off canceling it and just having Dynamite and Rampage.
I stopped watching for that reason. AEW was watchable when it was just Dark and especially Dynamite. All the prime focus went into one show, now everything is spread out. I also dislike the random wrestlers and other company titles coming onto AEW television. It was fun while it lasted.

I was at the Dynamite in N. Charleston, SC. Yeah, the crowd was small but most were into the show.(I only went because my daughter loves AEW.) But it's shocking to see how far the crowd sizes have fallen off. Our first Dynamite was in July of 2021 in Charlotte at Bojangles Arena. The one where the main event was Jericho vs Nick Gage and the infamous Domino's Pizza cutter incident. The place was PACKED. There was a buzz in the air. Just having come out of the pandemic, the people were ready to let loose. It was a really fun show. Plus, the weekend prior was when the CM Punk return rumors really kicked off. AEW felt like a big deal. Over the next 13 months, we went to 3 more Dynamites in Atlanta, Columbia, SC & Savannah. And each time the crowd got smaller. Then on Jan 17 we were at the N. Charleston show. And it was kinda sad to see how 2 1/2 years earlier, people were hanging from the rafters and going nuts watching wrestling to today, where the place was, at best, at 25% capacity. Before long, we're going to start to see RIP AEW videos on youtube and lots of questions about "What could have been."
And TK keeps booking places that seat 12.000 people, it's just stupid, why book a place that holds 12.000 people when you only sell 2.000 tickets, it makes no sense.
It's a tragedy that AEW can use connections to get TV deals when TNA doesn't even get a sniff. TNA builds its wrestlers and has good booking. At this point AEW is nothing more than a playground for a handful of wrestlers that are marks for themselves and book their friends.

I went to the AEW dynamite/rampage tapings on Nov first in Louisville Kentucky. There was slightly over 2k I think tickets sold. U could tell all the empty seats.
This week they have struggled to sell/give away 2,000 tickets in New Orleans. This is in a 10,000 seat arena that they have converted it to 2,000 on a college campus. So they couldn't even convince students to go?
2019-2021 it was great, awesome even. Now, AEW has been losing it's luster. I still watch Dynamite and Collision when I can, but im not as excited despite the talent they have. Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, Hangman, Swerve, Hook, OC, House of Black, Danielson, Kingston, Moxley, even Omega when healthy. One problem is that they'll have guys on one week, and then no where to be found for several weeks.
That's funny you say that because yeah 2021 is when the last time I watched AEW full time. It's gotten so stale now I'm glad we have more wrestling shows because I love both WWE and AEW but even the characters look the same. The biggest issue is that AEW positioned itself as a WWE alternative when WWE sucked. They presented something different, with stars that people had never seen for the most part. Simultaneously things got better at WWE and AEW kept hiring ex-WWE talent. So the alternative got better, while at the same time AEW kept giving a spotlight to talent that their fans were trying to get away from. They completely lost the reason people went to AEW anyway so fans just went back to WWE as it improved. They are screwed.

The main issue I have with AEW is they try so hard to pander to the hardcore internet crowd/the dirtsheets, and do little to nothing to appeal to the casual audience. TK is so focused on getting arbitrary brownie points from the Wrestling Observer rather than just make compelling television. Match quality alone doesn’t make a good match, there’s also storytelling which keeps the audience engaged and interested. And yet people like Traquilo Club will continue coping and seething despite all these problems

Hopefully TNA gets a big tv deal with a major platform once the NBA rights are sorted and is in larger venues so we can have a competitive national wrestling environment with three promotions vying for viewership and attention because this industry needs more than one promotion to survive if WWE, TNA and AEW once it solves its various issues and when TK steps down from creative gets a good creative team are doing good we as wrestling fans benefit and also wrestlers benefit because they have more leverage when it comes to contract negotiations especially top stars.
Wishful thinking. TNA has been going for over 20 years and still hasn't got it right. Why would it start getting bigger now, because its changed its name back? I doubt it. AEW isn't even wrestling. It's more like watching a cheerleading competition. Lots of impressive flips and twists, nobody fighting back, you don't really know who any of them are, and it feels like you'd win in a fight with 90% of them.

If they did tapings in Puerto Rico for a week they could solve the attendance issues. Crowd over here would be happy just to get any wrestling at all and the backlash show was fun and the crowd was a part of that.
Tony pushed himself as a face of a company when he was never prepared for it. His melt downs and demeanor come across like a back yard wrestling promoter there for he pushed anyone willing to take the company on a serious level. He has shown numerous times he chooses feelings over business and have alienated his fan base by losing star X (insert name here). He often shows so long as HE is happy that’s really all that matters, so by losing star X, he lost a few more fans over, and over. Storylines go no where and there is zero risk or consistency in them. The formula is EASY to fix but he never would. 1) Announce the show is in trouble, face the music publicly. 2) Book smaller arenas. 3) Turn it into a story like where any day could be the last. 4) exile Tony during said story to get him off tv. No one wants to see a rich kid playing with dads money. 5) By that shock, start a rebuild there. Even if it’s ROH VS. AEW but they need and I stress NEED high stakes in story, not blood baths. 6) Eliminate 50 percent of the titles during said story. No one cares about your main champion when everyone has a belt. 7) Burn everything to the ground in the story and rebuild on that. You’re welcome Tony.

Tony Khan could fix so many of his problems by becoming more of a legit professional boss. Get rid of a lot of the dead weight on the roster and start to bring in people who really know what they're doing in the important roles and make it clear that anyone who won't listen or who causes issues would be shown the door.

Back when it started, there was enough fervor behind the idea of an 'alternate WWE' that people were willing to overlook the... let's say questionable decision making. Add that to the fact it was still a fledgling promotion and some of the mess was excusable. So, the 'golden era' of AEW was more just the early stages where people believed in its future. There was still time for it to grow and develop into something good. Unfortunately, it never did actually grow up at all. It's still the same ridiculous company as it was in the beginning, but there is no longer any hope of it becoming something new. WWE has improved significantly from where it was five years ago, so a lot of people no longer want an alternative to it. And Tony Khan's solution is to just keep signing names rather than doing anything with the people he already has.
The booking of championships make no sense. Adam Cole didn't beat FTR for the tag titles, instead won the ROH tag belts with MJF. Then Starks & Bill just ended up winning the tag titles, after it looked like Starks was going to be a singles star.

I liked Sunday Night heat. I’d always watch it to see what the PPV set would look like when they actually used unique PPV sets. They’re raking in the money from all these deals, but they can’t drop $10,000 to $20,000 on a set at a event that will bring in hundreds of thousands or even millions depending on the event?

I think AEW shows the best wrestling and has the best roster ever but i have to say that the stirytelling is not very good. Sometimes it's but most of the time, it's not.
Another thing is Tony Khan probably would never have expected that WWE would have made such a turn around the last few years, with Vince leaving the company it has gotten so much better thanks to Nick Khan and Triple H it’s no longer the big bad company anymore that wrestlers wanted to get way from now it’s looking like AEW has gained that reputation.
wrestling in my opinion is all about the characters and the story lines. But like you said they don't have any writers. As fans we come for the story but stay for the wrestling. If I dont have a reason to watch the match to begin with whats the point? I feel most of AEW is just a bunch of random matches that lead to no progress into a story. It has a potential but with the no real stories its just boring.

Kenny Omega is out, due to injury. Jack Perry got fired. Andrade left and came back to WWE. Once their contracts expire in AEW, Malachi Black and Buddy Matthews are coming back to WWE. The Young Bucks are so delusional, they actually think they're doing a great job as EVPs. Jade Cargill left. MJF isn't coming back and that's for sure. AEW has the WORST storylines in wrestling history. Why do wrestlers look up in the sky when Hook's music comes on, like he's Batman? Why does this company have a shitload of championship belts? Both of the Hardy's just need to retire. Nick Wayne is the Jack Harlow of AEW. Tony Khan loves to spread drama on social media. There are too many heels and factions, so many lackeys, and very few faces. Tony is afraid to command his "action figures." And if MJF goes to WWE, which is very likely, AEW is over.
AEW was a good idea, they just have the wrong guy running it. Tony Khan has no idea what he is doing, how to create a storyline, or how to book matches, so he has run it into the ground. I still watch it on Wednesday and Saturday, but I DVR it and I end up using the fast forward for most of it. It has the same 800,000 to 900,000 people watching every Wednesday, and then by the end of the show it is usually down to about 700,000, so they lose 200,000 viewers in 2 hours every week.

I was at the Dynamite in N. Charleston, SC. Yeah, the crowd was small but most were into the show.(I only went because my daughter loves AEW.) But it's shocking to see how far the crowd sizes have fallen off.
Our first Dynamite was in July of 2021 in Charlotte at Bojangles Arena. The one where the main event was Jericho vs Nick Gage and the infamous Domino's Pizza cutter incident. The place was PACKED. There was a buzz in the air. Just having come out of the pandemic, the people were ready to let loose. It was a really fun show. Plus, the weekend prior was when the CM Punk return rumors really kicked off. AEW felt like a big deal.
Over the next 13 months, we went to 3 more Dynamites in Atlanta, Columbia, SC & Savannah. And each time the crowd got smaller. Then on Jan 17 we were at the N. Charleston show. And it was kinda sad to see how 2 1/2 years earlier, people were hanging from the rafters and going nuts watching wrestling to today, where the place was, at best, at 25% capacity.
Before long, we're going to start to see RIP AEW videos on youtube and lots of questions about "What could have been."
And TK keeps booking places that seat 12.000 people, it's just stupid, why book a place that holds 12.000 people when you only sell 2.000 tickets, it makes no sense.

I went to the AEW dynamite/rampage tapings on Nov first in Louisville Kentucky. There was slightly over 2k I think tickets sold. U could tell all the empty seats.
This week they have struggled to sell/give away 2,000 tickets in New Orleans. This is in a 10,000 seat arena that they have converted it to 2,000 on a college campus. So they couldn't even convince students to go?

2019-2021 it was great, awesome even. Now, AEW has been losing it's luster. I still watch Dynamite and Collision when I can, but im not as excited despite the talent they have. Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, Hangman, Swerve, Hook, OC, House of Black, Danielson, Kingston, Moxley, even Omega when healthy. One problem is that they'll have guys on one week, and then no where to be found for several weeks.

During the attitude era the only Tweener was Kane because he attacked and wrestled both heels and faces and was booked as one

The biggest issue is that AEW positioned itself as a WWE alternative when WWE sucked. They presented something different, with stars that people had never seen for the most part. Simultaneously things got better at WWE and AEW kept hiring ex-WWE talent. So the alternative got better, while at the same time AEW kept giving a spotlight to talent that their fans were trying to get away from. They completely lost the reason people went to AEW anyway so fans just went back to WWE as it improved. They are screwed.

The main issue I have with AEW is they try so hard to pander to the hardcore internet crowd/the dirtsheets, and do little to nothing to appeal to the casual audience. TK is so focused on getting arbitrary brownie points from the Wrestling Observer rather than just make compelling television. Match quality alone doesn’t make a good match, there’s also storytelling which keeps the audience engaged and interested.

Hopefully TNA gets a big tv deal with a major platform once the NBA rights are sorted and is in larger venues so we can have a competitive national wrestling environment with three promotions vying for viewership and attention because this industry needs more than one promotion to survive if WWE, TNA and AEW once it solves its various issues and when TK steps down from creative gets a good creative team are doing good we as wrestling fans benefit and also wrestlers benefit because they have more leverage when it comes to contract negotiations especially top stars.

AEW isn't even wrestling. It's more like watching a cheerleading competition. Lots of impressive flips and twists, nobody fighting back, you don't really know who any of them are, and it feels like you'd win in a fight with 90% of them.

All the bad publicity aew gets with the low ticket sales, consistent backstage drama, dead story lines, no stars, it’s just bad. CM Punks firing destroyed them it got rid of their biggest star and to think that he was publicly sabotaged by his coworkers who happen to be executive vice presidents. They’re cooked no matter who they sign. WWE also has soooo many years over them they’re established and gaining momentum these last few years aew can’t compete especially right now in wrestlemania season

Just like WCW, too many hotshotting with no proper build ups to big matches, as opposed to WWE that focus more on story and long term planning.
If they did tapings in Puerto Rico for a week they could solve the attendance issues. Crowd over here would be happy just to get any wrestling at all and the backlash show was fun and the crowd was a part of that.
Tony pushed himself as a face of a company when he was never prepared for it. His melt downs and demeanor come across like a back yard wrestling promoter there for he pushed anyone willing to take the company on a serious level.
He has shown numerous times he chooses feelings over business and have alienated his fan base by losing star X (insert name here). He often shows so long as HE is happy that’s really all that matters, so by losing star X, he lost a few more fans over, and over.
Storylines go no where and there is zero risk or consistency in them. The formula is EASY to fix but he never would.
1) Announce the show is in trouble, face the music publicly.
2) Book smaller arenas.
3) Turn it into a story like where any day could be the last.
4) exile Tony during said story to get him off tv. No one wants to see a rich kid playing with dads money.
5) By that shock, start a rebuild there. Even if it’s ROH VS. AEW but they need and I stress NEED high stakes in story, not blood baths.
6) Eliminate 50 percent of the titles during said story. No one cares about your main champion when everyone has a belt.
7) Burn everything to the ground in the story and rebuild on that.

Tony Khan could fix so many of his problems by becoming more of a legit professional boss. Get rid of a lot of the dead weight on the roster and start to bring in people who really know what they're doing in the important roles and make it clear that anyone who won't listen or who causes issues would be shown the door.
Also, he needs to hire a REAL booker. Toby Khan's booking is so bad I feel second-hand embarrassment watching AEW sometimes.

Back when it started, there was enough fervor behind the idea of an 'alternate WWE' that people were willing to overlook the... let's say questionable decision making. Add that to the fact it was still a fledgling promotion and some of the mess was excusable. So, the 'golden era' of AEW was more just the early stages where people believed in its future. There was still time for it to grow and develop into something good.
Unfortunately, it never did actually grow up at all. It's still the same ridiculous company as it was in the beginning, but there is no longer any hope of it becoming something new. WWE has improved significantly from where it was five years ago, so a lot of people no longer want an alternative to it. And Tony Khan's solution is to just keep signing names rather than doing anything with the people he already has.

The booking of championships make no sense. Adam Cole didn't beat FTR for the tag titles, instead won the ROH tag belts with MJF. Then Starks & Bill just ended up winning the tag titles, after it looked like Starks was going to be a singles star.

Another thing is Tony Khan probably would never have expected that WWE would have made such a turn around the last few years, with Vince leaving the company it has gotten so much better thanks to Nick Khan and Triple H it’s no longer the big bad company anymore that wrestlers wanted to get way from now it’s looking like AEW has gained that reputation.
wrestling in my opinion is all about the characters and the story lines. But like you said they don't have any writers. As fans we come for the story but stay for the wrestling. If I dont have a reason to watch the match to begin with whats the point? I feel most of AEW is just a bunch of random matches that lead to no progress into a story. It has a potential but with the no real stories its just boring.
If wrestling needs writers how come the only promotion to ever use them on a regular basis is WWE?

There is no damn comparison between WCW and AEW, WCW actually kicked WWF's ass during a couple of years and they made WWF struggle for a while, they had legit stars like nWo, Goldberg, Sting in his prime, and it was entertaining to watch from 96-99, while AEW has 5 years since their foundation and they literally haven't done anything

AEW was a good idea, they just have the wrong guy running it. Tony Khan has no idea what he is doing, how to create a storyline, or how to book matches, so he has run it into the ground. I still watch it on Wednesday and Saturday, but I DVR it and I end up using the fast forward for most of it.
It has the same 800,000 to 900,000 people watching every Wednesday, and then by the end of the show it is usually down to about 700,000, so they lose 200,000 viewers in 2 hours every week.
