Had AEW opened in 2015, they would be in a better position today. Because Vince was in charge and HHH was no where near having control of WWE. Plus CM Punk walked out in 2014 and Indy wrestling was getting so much attention.
WCW in 1998 and 1999 is how I think of AEW today. Still capable of putting on some great matches, still have a ton of talent, but leadership and foundation cracks are becoming a problem. They still have time to turn things around, but it will take some soul searching by TK.
I don't know what's worse, Dave publicly stating the stars don't matter and that his ratings system is all about his personal biases, or the fools who take it seriously and build their booking around it.

WCW in 1992 wasn't even close of going bankrupt, Ted Turner was bankrolling it, WCW lost money almost the entire 1990's, Ted Turner did not care as long as he had the content to put on the Superstation. Also, Booker T wasn't even close of being over after that best of 7 against Benoit, plus the best of 7 sucked, and nobody cared. Booker T was actually over in 2000.
AEW needs to trim down to 20-25 talents. Book Dynamite and collision around those 20-25 talents. Give Rampage to ROH exclusively and focus on 10-12 talents. Create a feeder company or partner with another indie to be a feeder to AEW.
20-25 is too few for five hours of television per week, or even four with your idea of making Rampage an ROH show (which they can't do because WBD doesn't give a shit about ROH or they already would have done that). He absolutely needs to cut the roster down, he doesn't necessarily need to cut it down that much. Literally the only thing AEW still has going for them, the only reason they have at this point to exist is that they give people jobs.

WCW in 1998 and 1999 is how I think of AEW today. Still capable of putting on some great matches, still have a ton of talent, but leadership and foundation cracks are becoming a problem. They still have time to turn things around, but it will take some soul searching by TK.

WCW in 1992 wasn't even close of going bankrupt, Ted Turner was bankrolling it, WCW lost money almost the entire 1990's, Ted Turner did not care as long as he had the content to put on the Superstation. Also, Booker T wasn't even close of being over after that best of 7 against Benoit, plus the best of 7 sucked, and nobody cared. Booker T was actually over in 2000.

20-25 is too few for five hours of television per week, or even four with your idea of making Rampage an ROH show (which they can't do because WBD doesn't give a shit about ROH or they already would have done that). He absolutely needs to cut the roster down, he doesn't necessarily need to cut it down that much. Literally the only thing AEW still has going for them, the only reason they have at this point to exist is that they give people jobs.
That’s a dumb idea, what happens when a few of those 20-25 wrestlers start getting injured? That’s why you stack the roster, when someone goes down you’ll be able to put someone else in that spot asap, why do you think sports teams have bench warmers and practice squads.

The most damaging thing AEW ever did was releasing that footage. They released it in a move of desperation. Then immediately deleted it when that move backfired on them. Then they started issuing copyright strikes to anyone who showed or even talked about that footage on RUclips. They literally turned the fanbase into their enemies
I remember when WWE/WWF was getting stomped by WCW and what happened? Vince got desperate and completely changed the product which led to The Attitude Era but it didn’t happen overnight and it wasn’t a smooth transition as a matter of fact the change started in 96 and by mid 98 they were on top.

But he has only lost viewers ever since firing CM Punk. He has signed numerous “free agents” since then and none of them have helped with viewership. Remember Kota Ibushi? Such a great hire last year. Okada? Maybe these IWC lovers want to see him but he was never going to be huge in the WWE. If you can’t do a promo, much less speak the language, you aren’t going to be worth a multi-year, several million dollars a year contract. That’s just the truth. Is the Okada merch flying off the shelves?
