      He was actually too exhausted. He literally embarrassed himself the next match against Djokovic. Couldn't move even in the slightest, he was so cramped up and retired quickly. Literally handed Djokovic a spot in the final. It was absurd. Carreno Busta would've been fine for that match. Nishikori is always hurt or not fit. Always.

    He lost the match against himself the moment he allowed his emotions to kill his 8-6 lead. This is why Borg was my idol as a young tennis player. I know I'm going to face backlash from this, but I agree with the umpire, 9:30 the Nishikori pretty much hit the ball the same time as the out call, and carrerno busta was running the opposite way, theoretically there is no way C.B. would have won that point unless he could magically stop and then teleport to the ball

    • @resgr
      @resgr 5 лет назад +127

      That is not the point! The ball was called out, and neither the line or the umpire corrected the call! In order to not loose the point by ball out pablo did challenged his ball. The ball was in so Pablo won the callenge. The hit of Nishikori is not part of the game becuase the point was finished after the line called the ball out and none corrected him!

    • @11kboy
      @11kboy 5 лет назад +24

      @Jota Peli Should have been a let. However CB costed himself the match because he could have focus on winning the next two points to close the match but instead he completely lost it over one point. He was still in the lead. Honestly I agree with the call because it was called when Kei hit the ball and Pablo ran opposite.

    • @davideleone9809
      @davideleone9809 5 лет назад +38

      @@11kboy it is hard for PCB to keep focus at that point, because he probably felt mocked by the umpire who first accepted his challenge, then he told him that the outcome of the challenge didn't matter. The referee shouldn't have accepted Pablo's challenge, then the Spaniard would have probably kept his composure to win the match.

    • @11kboy

      @@davideleone9809 You're spot on. The umpire shouldn't have accepted the challenge if he was going to give Nishikori the point. It was a very tough call though because they called while Kei was hitting it down the line and Pablo guessing it wrong(obviously). Regardless, bad calls happens in tennis. while he has already decided to give the point to Nishikori no matter if the Ball was in or out.
    Nishikori for me is not fault in this case, he played 100% fair. The umpire schould not accept the Challenge as the point is an obvious winner for Nishikori. But as he accepted and announced the challenge then the point must be replayed if the ball is in.

    Hay dos tipo de errores: los técnicos y los conceptuales. El juez de línea tuvo un error técnico, el de silla uno conceptual. Es sobre el error conceptual que recae la demanda de Busta. El error arbitral fue haberle permitido a Busta el challenge porque, en efecto, Nishikori golpeó la pelota antes de que el juez de línea la diera por mala. Esto lo podemos ver a 0.25 de velocidad (9:27). Por tanto, la acción del juez de línea no afecta la ejecución del tenista. El punto es, en teoría, para Nishikori. Sin embargo, el juez de silla permite el challenge a Busta. Al habilitar el challenge el juez asume que Nishikori golpeó la pelota después del grito de OUT, de modo que, a nivel de la práctica, lo correcto o coherente hubiera sido repetir el punto a efectos de que la bola fue corroborada como buena por el ojo de halcón. El juez de silla, en pocas palabras, aprovechó la nebulosa reglamentaria para emparchar su error. El challenge mide los errores técnicos, no los conceptuales.

    Kei started swinging much before the call and the umpire judged Kei hit the ball earlier than the call. Nothing but only the umpire can judge which was first at the site.
    No matter what the ball was in or out, Kei's action was done and Busta also already moved toward the other side of the court before the call. Even though the challenge was right, Busta cannot reverse everything happened at the moment. That is the reason why the umpire judged that is Kei's point.

    It was Kei's point regardless whether it was in or out. Besides, Carreno was running to the opposite direction. Carreno wanted to take advantage of the rule after the fact the point was over just to see how things would go. But, the umpire made the correct decision and gave the point to Kei which he deserves. Kei had to hit the ball almost at the same time when the linesman was calling out which was already a distraction but he made it in while Carreno was running to the other direction. It would have been much more unfair for Kei if the point had to be replayed in this situation. The linesman made 2 mistakes. First one being that it was in fact in and he called it out. Second being that it was a late call. All the blames need to go to the linesman not to the umpire if one wants to blame someone for the situation. I think the umpire's mistake might have been to accept the challenge after the point was over at least to his mind which is irrelevant as to who actually won the point.

      what do you mean giving pcb the challenge. He does not have a choice, if a player challenges then the ball must be challenged. In this case,not replaying the point was a fatal error by the chair and it is outrageous to see this at this level.

      What was the point of giving a challenge when you would just ignore the outcome anyway? There were cases when players, moving in opposite direction, could still retrieve the ball. What looks like a clear winner won't apply to Nadal in some cases.

    PCB was correct that the out call happened before Kei hit the ball so technically they should have replayed the point. But the truth is that he was never getting to that ball so the referee made the call that was fair in the end.

    "The Chair Umpire must decide if the original “out” call
    was a hindrance to either player. If it was a hindrance, the point
    shall be replayed. If it was not a hindrance, the player who hit the
    ball wins the point."
    www.atptour.com/en/corporate/rulebook
    Nishikori was mid-swing and Pablo was definitely sprinting to the other side BEFORE the call.
    There was no hindrance to either player, hence the umpire awarded the point to the player that hit the ball.

      That's good and all, but if that's the case, then the umpire should not accept the challenge in the first place. If the umpire accepts the challenge and the ball is in, then a let should be played.

    Although I respect all the comments about what the rules are and how the call was questionable and may have changed the outcome of the match, let's just say that this match really reflects how tennis is a mental game. Kei showed that he was calm and continued to play great tennis. Carreno however, lost his cool and threw the match away. And yes I know that the call may have upset him as I have been in that situation myself, however tennis is not a game for the weak minded. You must be mentally strong and fight for every point regardless of what has just happened. I'm not saying that this will make you win every match but it certainly gives you the upper hand. This was a great match and both players played very well

    The issue wasnt ‘In or Out’ but the position of Busta when Nishikori hit the ball. Let’s say Nishikori hit the ball and Busta was able to return the ball, the point would be repeated after the challenge.

    • @rafagoat575
      @rafagoat575 5 лет назад +4

      Busta's position is irrelevant. Even Nishikori's last shot it's irrelevant if it goes in or out. There has been a call. The point ends as soon as the call is made.

  • @rsind213
    @rsind213 2 года назад +1

    The umpire did not rob Busta. Watch the replay. The linesman called out much after Busta had already moved towards his left to cover the court. Busta was in play. He made his move from which he could never recover to intercept the ball down the line. HE MOVED MUCH BEFORE LINESMAN said out!
    Rule or no rule, Busta was in play and made a tactical move to catch ball on his left side in anticipation. Even if the linesman did not call anything, Busta would lose the point.
    Big credit to Nishikori; super control of his emotions.
    I don't blame Busta, he is like most of us; spoiled when angry

    I don't see the problem. Umpire did the right thing. If it was out, Nishikori won the point. If it was in, Nishikori also won the point because Carreno Busta was so far away from the ball, he was never going to get that shot back anyway.
    Now if Carreno Busta had been able to get that final shot back, it would be a different story. But he was so far away from the ball, it didn't matter. Anyway, he was still 8-6 up, he could have easily won it from there.
