This database will contain download links for macOS 12 full Installer pkg files (InstallAssistant.pkg). This file is the same full installer that you would download directly from the App Store for Intel and Apple Silicon M1 Mac Computers. The InstallAssistant.pkg is stored on Apple's servers and contains the full "Install macOS.app". Once downloaded, all you need to do is install the pkg and the full installer of macOS will be in your applications folder. This change was made when Apple revised the full installer for Big Sur. The InstallAssistant.pkg is not available for Catalina or Mojave.

Thank you so much for creating these video tutorials! I've just clean installed macOS Monterey 12.0.1 on M1 and one of your previous video helped me with the process.
I was worried that I will have to go through DFU mode if I erase the whole drive, but luckily the process seem to have been simplified in the newer installers and your video showed me that

I did everything as suggested. When I tried then to launch the USB installer it would just indefinitely bounce in my dock. Disk Utility would then fail when I tried to wipe the USB thumb drive again. So I repeated the process without first wiping the drive and when done I say the same indefinitely app dock bounce situation. So I rebooted into recovery mode and wiped by Big Sur internal SSD clean and installed by booting into the USB stick Monterey and finally it installed over the next hour.

Does this method work for M1 ARM macs? I want to clean reinstall without the monterey reset/reinstall feature, but others in the past have bricked their M1s simply by doing a USB reinstall. The fix was to reset with Apple Configurator via USB-C restore.

Hey Mr. Macintosh, I upgraded to Monterey today with no problems. Thankfully the Big Sur, and today, Monterey Upgrades went perfectly, so I haven't had to use USB installers, or clean install.
So far, everything is smooth sailing, the ONLY bug I have found is the one from Big Sur where blu-ray discs do NOT have an icon in finder. This is strictly cosmetic though, and everything still works right. It's probably a simple fix though, and I am somewhat disappointed Apple hasn't fixed it yet. Either way, the overall experience has been a positive one. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you. FYI: I am running Monterey on a late 2015, 27" iMac with 32 GB RAM, 2TB Fusion drive, and it's running perfectly. Very responsive and stable. (Reporting after a few hours of use.)

Mr Mac this is brilliant my SD card has just been completed, I thought id done everything correctly but it would not recognise the drive as bootable any ideas?, I've had no end of problems upgrading but I'm getting there, I'm changing and internal SSD from 2tb to 4tb and trying to get Monterey installed through the normal route and commandR recovery boot was
a nightmare just kept . My late 2015 mac seems to want to randomly reboot during installs and that causes them to fail, at one stage I removed 16GB of ram and that fixed one issue. But the random reboot seems to relate to another problem I found that's seemingly in the firmware on these older macs. How do we update bootrom and firmware to the latest version as I hear apple stop this is their upgrade finds a non mac SSD. Any ideas welcome and thanks again

You're asking about upgrading on an OpenCore Legacy machine correct? He talks about this in one of his las videos that he goes over OpenCore. I'm just about to upgrade my legacy machine and what Ive gathered is that you just need to get the latest release of OpenCore (0.3.0 or 0.3.1) then patch your system drive or a usb disk - just like how you did with Big Sur upgrade. Once Monterey is installed, apply post-install patch if necessary for your model, then you're done.

@@Mr.Macintosh Downloaded the installpackage. Used it to do the upgrade. Upgrade went perfect. Then patched with OCLP.
But now I wanted to follow your procedure to create a boot usb, to use on my other Mac. And the icon is missing ... but still shows (and works) in Launchpad.

I had the same problem, open finder and press cmd+q, then start finder again and it will appear.
