I’m running OCLP on two legacy Macs. I just updated my 2011 MBP 13” and it was perfectly smooth. You and the OC developers are doing a huge service for the world of users still using older Macs everyday. And, yes - this is exciting… as a developer of much smaller projects I was always excited to see things work as designed. I can’t even imagine the scope of this project, the research, coding, and testing, required. To see it fall into place as designed is super exciting. Truly an awesome project, keeping the Home Brew Spirit alive. THANK YOU!!!

@@garylordjohns3730 Hi, I have a 2010 3.46 12 Core Mac Pro also. I run a Firewire Apollo with a Thunderbolt card. I upgraded from High Sierra using Firewire. I decided on Monterey because of others reporting good success on this old Cheese Grater. Besides having to boot twice to get the system to recognize the Apollo it has been rock solid. I have not installed OCLP 1.5.0. I think I'll wait for an update. I never upgrade immediately with any major release of any software. Monterey is not compatible with my Apollo using Firewire. Running : 2012 MacBook Pro + OCLP 1.4.3 + Latest Monterey
2012 MacBook Pro + OCLP + Latest Sonoma. Sonoma has become much more stable, and I have figured that most of its crashes/ kernel panics (not too frequent) are related to Universal Control calls , as both macs are in sync using iCloud and controlled by one keyboard, MX keys, and one mouse MX mouse for Mac. If one UC goes down, and is not attended to, I think it eventually causes a freeze / hang requiring a restart in the Sonoma machine. However, I have begun to understand how to keep UC up and stable, and to avoid hangs.
I will certainly update OCLP and will wait on upgrading Monterey for now as it’s nice and rock solid.

I hope that a member of the OCLP team sees this. I installed the 1.5.0 patch update, and my old late 2009 iMac with Monterey became just as fast and responsive as any new computer. The older patcher version was good, but the new update is phenomenal. Mind-blowing. What a fantastic job these folks have done. The team have probably saved the public millions or billions already. Apple would certainly call my old iMac obsolete. Nope, not in the slightest. I'm doing every single thing I want to do on it, and without lag. I did install 16 gigs of RAM to prepare for the older patcher and Monterey. Not too expensive. I didn't do an SSD upgrade. That would have been too involved. Will I put an even newer OS on it? Maybe, but I'm very happy with this. My deepest thanks. You guys are brilliant.

Thank you again Mr. Macintosh for a very thorough update video! I installed the OC update no prob on my mid 2011 imac and the clone Ventura (latest) OS on my Samsung T7 drive. Both working great! Still using Ventura due to all the glitches i had with Sonoma, but I am sure I could run Sonoma problem free on the clone SSD. But for now, just sticking with latest Ventura, which has proven to be quite solid for the old imac i am using, which of course is still providing non metal graphics and un updated wifi/bluetooth for the internal and cloned external drives. Yes! The Open Core Developers are a super blessing for all of us using all these old macs! Thank you all Sooooo much. And the money is where my mouth is, but surely my donations are never enough to be what all their work is actually worth! Blessings all! 💕❣AJ

Thank you for your welcome video. Yesterday I followed another set of RUclips videos (older than yours) by someone else on this OpenCore Legacy Patcher process, and, unfortunately it was not pretty. I attempted to install Sonoma on my 2012 MBP Catalina, but after about 5 tries, I gave up, taking most of the day, as I attempted to deal with all kinds of strange, never-experienced scenarios, having to erase and reload the original Catalina software on the laptop about 5 times and then throwing in the towel. NOW, I see from your newer video that the OpenCore process changed / updated since then. SOOOO - I am going to give it another try using your instruction starting right now (3 PM Pacific Time 6/26/24). I hope to have more positive news to report in the coming hours or days. ----- 🙃

Couldn’t get it working tried tirelessly several times. Oclp always has “post ✉️ stall patches “always greyed out. Using MacBook Pro 2012 16gb ram running Catalina. I burnt it to 64gb. Usb for install followed video and tried to then install on 1t external ssd. ( test before I do Actual hdd). It goes through install and when reboots shows my untitled usb with the software”untitled ” and boots to hdd, usb,Monterey os. When click into Monterey nothing just blank. Any body any ideas.
Tried gui then just installed pkg.

I have an iMac 27” mid 2011 computer. I have downloaded all the latest update of OpenCore Patcher and for some reason it shows that I have version 1.3.0 even though I had kept up with the updates. I downloaded 1.5.0. On the Post-Install Menu it didn’t show the previous version 1.4.6
When I open the setting on OpenCore, the App section under the Application Info shows Application version 1.3.0. PatcherSupportPkg version: 1.4.6. Commit info shows Branch: refs/tags/1.3.0
    Booted Info:
    Booted OS: XNU 23 (14.6.1)
    Booted Patcher Version: 1.5.0
Booted OpenCore Version: REL - 100-2024-05-09.
I’ve already reinstalled OpenCore patcher and the information is the same. What can I do to fix this. Since the last two update prior to this one, I had to use Ethernet, I was locked out of my wifi. Also my wifi keeps disconnecting on sleep mode. I appreciate all that you do, thank you in advance for your help 😊

Hey, thanks for all your work, it's great! You asked us to report back on our experiences: My computer is a 15-inch, mid 2012 MacBook Pro 9,1, it is running Sonoma 14.5. The last couple of macOS versions my computer has become quite unstable, I have experienced random system panics, I tracked it down to the screensaver, when I turn it off it doesn't happen as often. I have also experience instability in Safari, sometimes a tab would become completely unresponsive and ignore any event. I have now switched to Firefox which seems much more stable. My MAIN problem however, is that Time Machine takes FOREVER to make a backup. Even if I have not been working on the machine it will create a backup of 1-2-3 Gb but it's not because of the size of backups, it just takes forever, 3-4-5-6 hours, sometimes I leave the laptop open over night to allow it to finish. Time Machine used to run really smoothly in the background, I never noticed it and it took just a few minutes for the hourly update.

Thanks again for another very informative video. My 27" Later 2013 iMac got an OWC PCIe SSD 1TB update last month which speeded up the computer but I've still been getting graphics issues with Sonoma with curious blocking. Everything went a bit unstable last week and I lost the wallpapers. This appears to have got resolved with the update to 14.5. I've now downloaded and run OCLP 1.5.0 which went very well. Following reboot, everything loaded up very quickly so I'm hoping that the fixes in 1.5.0 will have sorted those graphics problems. Thanks again 🙂

After I updated to OCLP 1.5.0 on my 2012 Mac Mini 6,1 running Ventura I could not complete updating the installed root patches. I received a systemversion.plist mismatch and could not continue. Following a reboot, I received the same message and ended up doing a complete reinstall of Ventura sucessfully.

Thanks for the update. I found no real problem updating to version 1.5 when updating my Big Sur partition on a Macbook Pro mid 2009. However, after upgrading the Sonoma partition, networking is even more flaky as it had been under OCLP 1.4.3. Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi may show it's connected, but I can't reach any internet pages with any browser. Sometimes, after a while, networking will just start working.

I want to upgrade OCLP to 1.5.0 on my MBP 9,2. Doing Time Machine Backup now. I keep seeing a few people run into the error "make sure you don't have any pending updates" and can't install root patches. I am on 13.6.7 Ventura, and I think it will work, but no need to do upgrade to OCLP 1.5.0 until I hear an answer as to what may be causing people to not be able to install root patches... Hopefully they are all on the latest Ventura and the Update to Sonoma update that always shows up is not the reason for hold ing up Patch install. I love listening to Mr Macintosh. His voice is great, and probably one of the best support videos for any project on RUclips.

I was using OCLP happily since over a year but made a mistake of updating everything yesterday (latest OCLP and Sonoma updates). Now its not working anymore, my 2012 iMac keeps sleeping every time. Before I can even move my mouse it sleeps. Next time I would avoid updates if everything is stable.

I had updated Ventura to the latest version, before OCLP 1.5.0 came out. I updated OCLP but when I try to root patch it says there is an inconsistency between versions of the MacOS installed (23F79 and 22G720). So I have kept the former root patch. Things are working well and I hope I will be able to solve this minor issue.

I run Monterey on a Mid-2014 15" rMBP/2.8GHz. Works very well overall. Sometimes though, System Preferences will freeze up and you can't click on any of the settings. Only way out is to Force-Quit the App. I also noticed that sometimes the desktop background will turn to a solid black color. I've also gotten this a few times... The OCLP alias in Applications won't open because it says it is damaged. Not sure what's going on there. Probably one, or two other minor bugs that I can't think of off the top of my head, but overall it's been a very usable experience. I will stay on Monterey until it is no longer supported. Looking forward to that future update to be able to remove the OCLP EFI through the App, instead of running the script via Terminal.
