I have read EVERY piece of evidence - I have read EVERY possible thing that the Jury saw- I have read and studied EVERYTHING available to the public and as a smart, educated woman who has studied Law, let me say that ANYONE who thinks either Brendan or Steven belong in jail should be in jail themselves. REGARDLESS of guilt or innocent, they were miserably failed by the justice system. THAT IS THE REAL ISSUE.

I don't feel it's truly possible to have a legitimate discussion of the ethics, procedures and rights that may or may not have been violated in this example until people stop pretending that Steven is factually innocent.

Zellner's brief goes to great length to establish that Sgt. Cohlburn could not have planted the RAV4 due to his schedule. Thats from Zellner herself. So then she alleges that the Ex-boyfriend did it on the evening of the 4th. Problem with that is that it was well established at the first trial that the Ex was at the Halbach's that evening coordinating the next days search and making multiple phone calls while in the company of several witnesses. He is totally alibi'd from roughly 2pm through midnight that day. So now you are left with the defense council finally admitting that the blood did not come from the vial, was Mr. Avery's, from 2005 with no preservative(EDTA) in it, with no Cohlburn or Ex to pin it on. The defense also acknowledges that Mr. Avery was actively bleeding at the time the SUV was placed where it was found in the Avery Salvage Yard. The defense also acknowledges in its brief that Steven did, in fact, have a long lasting fire on the evening of the 31st, and makes no attempt to alibi him that day. I know that "Making a Murderer" made a compelling (albeit misleading and emotion based) case for Steven Avery's innocense, but it is time to do the simple math here. I dont mean to come off as condescending or dismissive, but it just doesnt seem plausible at all for anyone else to have committed this crime. Im sorry.

    • @dan4579
      @dan4579 6 лет назад +7

I happen to live in Mantowac County. Nobody has really noticed Zellners brief. Probably because it has no substance. I get the general impression that the county police dont even care enough to laugh at it, although in the interest of full disclosure, I havent asked any about it. I dont want to waste there time while these country bumpkin cops have escaped cattle reports to tend to....or while they are planning their next multi-teir, CIA level frame job involving dozens of co-conspirators, including private citizens, to get out of a law suit that doesnt directly effect them one bit. Seems legit.

It's unbelievable that judges at the higher level of the American Appellate Court System failed to see the difference between "thinking of " and "remembering" something like shooting someone in the head. I hope & am glad that there are "fair-minded" ppl funding and fighting to correct a profoundly corrupt, criminal injustice system on behalf of Dassey, Avery and all the wrongly convicted.

He also says that they gave him the option of 90 years, or maybe 20 years if he "comes clean" to them.
If his uncle has already been convicted with no evidence then it's not that far of a stretch to say that he believes his only option is to work with them and get less time. If he had been allowed a lawyer, or parent in these interviews (which should be law for anyone under age) then I do not think they would have gotten any kind of a confession from him.

The case WASN'T proved, it was simply a wrong verdict delivered by a frightened jury. Remember, at the point that Mahler had to leave during deliberations, 7 of the 12 jury members were "not guilty". Only 3 were thinking "guilty". It doesn't help that two members of the jury had connections with the police department/municipality and should have been disqualified from participating.
Don't blame the evidence or the defense for the verdict, blame the jury.

One or two could do this ... and then everyone else needing to be RIGHT, needing to not piss off their bosses, or the public. Not a huge conspiracy, just a few initial “framers” if you will, and a bunch of people pushing their own tiny pieces forward. Resultant case is a giant friggin mess. One thing that has me scratching my head is the fact that during the documentary I never once got a full sense of remorse from the defendant (Steven Avery). Not remorse from guilt but sadness for the victim's family. I never saw any indication that he was hurt by what happened to Teresa Halbach. The only time I saw any real emotion from SA was when the sentence was handed to him. His eyes finally swelled up and tears began to show. That's just something that I've been pondering. I'm sure a person in his shoes would be scared shitless but they never really portrayed that in the series. I was left feeling uncertain about the whole case. Felt like a lack of information and facts.

I strongly believe in Steven Avery’s innocence ! After being jailed for 18 years , he knows the ins and outs and since he was released because of DNA 🧬 proving his innocence , he was NOT going to kill this girl chop her up and burn her body and leave the bones and her car with his blood in it , on the Avery property , and he definitely was not going to leave her car keys on his bedroom floor ! Were her car keys dusted for fingerprints is another thing that was not mentioned in the series Making A Murderer !
This screams SET UP ! This screams FRAMED !
Steven Avery must be FREED FROM PRISON ASAP AND COMPENSATED FOR WRONGFUL IMPRISONMENT CAUSING EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL DAMAGE ! If it wasn’t the police that set him up then it’s possibly Bobby who did it then called his brother to help Bobby get rid of the evidence and that’s why the 16 yo knew exactly what had happened to her ! They could have set their uncle Steven to take the fall ! Either way whether it was the police or his nephews it all still leads to Steven was framed ! 😔😔😔😢😢😢

Why would Colburn call in about a number plate on a missing person's car? Are we to believe the police had not been informed of the number plate of the car they were looking for? A possible explanation is someone found the car and Colburn had arrived and been forced to call in when he already knew it was the car.

I wonder if making a murderer didn't exist, and there was only an hour long show like 20/20 or dateline about this case if people would still feel the same way about Avery? While watching making a murderer and for a while after I finished it I thought he was innocent. Now, after processing everything from the documentary and what I found from doing a little digging I'm not so sure anymore.

Wish I had the ability to see their bank statements from the time she went missing to the end of the trial. Were they in financial trouble? Did they make any high dollar home improvements? Vacations? Cars? It would be very interesting. I beleive they were paid not just by the county but by the state to hide evidence and fain mourning. You can see it in the tv interviews when the mom acts like she's crying but hides her face and no tears. The brother on the first day she's missing saying that their mourning could take days, months, or even years. She was only missing at that point. And the only person speaking to the press was the 1 brother. I understand some people are very composed but you don't act like ur crying without tears if your composed. That is a sign of deciept.

I'm really undecided on Steven's guilt. I do think if I was a juror I would have been a not guilty vote because I have a tiny bit of reasonable doubt.
Many things don't make sense. The cops who were not supposed to be involved were the ones finding all the evidence. The cop calling in the tag before the car was found is very odd. The key being found in his room. When even a moron would have gotten rid of that. And his nephews confession I don't find credible.
But he was the last person as far as what can be proven to see her. But they find no blood anywhere on his property. None of her DNA anywhere in his home or garage. But then puts her car in his backyard and key in his bedroom? Just weird.
Just makes you wonder. Could those cops set him up? Could those cops killed that girl? Just crazy.

The whole Sheriffs Dept Was identified as having a conflict of interest at the very beginning of the case. That, in itself, should have been the guiding factor as to whether the two officers were authorized to be on the Avery property or involved in any aspect of the investigation. I just hate this case and the fact that so many lives have been destroyed as a result.
