  • Michael Meyden, 57, faces multiple charges in Oregon after police say he put benzodiazepine in mango smoothies that he insisted his daughter’s friends drink during a sleepover at his home. One of the girls was able to text friends and family, asking to be rescued. Now, Meyden’s former co-workers are recounting odd interactions with him that seem creepy in retrospect. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber goes through the chilling affidavit against Meyden with personal injury and sex abuse attorney David Ring.

Yeah, that's absolutely insane to me. Thank goodness this child had the wherewithal to understand exactly what was going on and took appropriate action. Had it not been for her actions, he definitely would have taken advantage of them somehow, that's not me speculating, that's me speaking from the experience of being molested by a man like this as a 12 year old child. I am a 42 year old mom of two now and I have dealt with severe PTSD my entire adult life because of it. I have struggled with depression, anxiety and drug and alcohol addiction (before I was diagnosed and felt the need to "self-medicate", I have 9 years sober today). As a mom, my daughter has only been to one sleepover that wasn't with trusted family members and that was only after several times of meeting the parents and then getting a tour of the house she would be staying in, as well as where they would be sleeping. The mom sent me text messages with pictures updating me the whole way through the sleepover because she understood, lol. It was great. But yeah, parents definitely need to stop being too trusting when it comes to their kids.

There are four young victims here whose lives have been forever changed and they'll be traumatized for life. 😢 I know if I were one of the girls who was heavily drugged, I would always worry that things were done to me and I'll never know what. As a Gen Xer who had lots of sleepovers…my parents always had to know the family.
It was usually team mates, neighbors or girls I’d known at school (catholic school).
I remember dads and moms that were drunk, and dad’s ‘accidentally’ walking into the living room in their underpants, and hanging out with the party TOO LONG.
My own dad wore pjs and my mom didn’t drink, so I always felt uncomfortable. I usually told my parents about the parties the next day…and there were a few friends I never got to stay over at again, like the 2 underwear dads houses. 🤮
I wound up not letting my daughter stay over more than one or two of her friends houses, and I was friends with the moms and dads. I was open and honest with my kiddo about creepy parents, and that she could text me with a red heart (our code for danger), and I would immediately come get her.
I usually didn’t sleep well those nights, bc I was hoping she’d be ok.
I always trued to be the sleep over house, or afterschool fun house, so I could monitor and keep the kids safe.

So glad that young girl trusted her instincts and pretended to be asleep, texted as many people as she could and got herself and her friends to safety. My heart is sad for the creepy dad’s daughter 😔 I just hope her friends don’t blame her in any way. I hope he gets a heck of a long time in prison.

Yeah, literally everyone is thinking about that. I have no doubt that his daughter was questioned by LE and any other professionals to make her feel comfortable talking. Theres no way they didnt ask his own daughter if anything has ever happened. I feel awful for all the girls, but especially the guys daughter bc that must be humiliating for her and she must feel somewhat responsible even though its obvs not her fault that her dad is a creep.

The different color straws and drinks probably had to do with dosage. A bigger or heavier person would need a little more drug to render her helpless, and of course, he didn't want them to remember what happened to them either.
Vice versa: if the smaller child got a heavier dose she could have died from an overdose....then he would be a murderer.

We hope he didn't assault the two who remained. He was alone with them after she was picked up by the family friend and before her mother returned to collect the other two girls so it was probably at least an hour. He could've done a lot in that time unfortunately.

This is one man of millions who would even think of doing this. Don’t forget that we have women TEACHERS preying on kids too, but they don’t get jail time. They get a slap on the wrist. Your comment is hurtful and you should really seek therapy. I pray that you don’t have any children, because with your mindset, they are doomed.

I thought they got divorced after the sleepover incident.
I don't think she should be blamed automatically, but I get what you're saying. I think theres a tendancy for people to assume that women should always intuitively "know" when someone is dangerous and prevent harm from happening. Jumping to blame her because, "how could she NOT have known this about her husband!?"
Her story is important to the case, though. For example do we know if she was there or if the parents believed she was to be present at the sleepover? If so, who's to say he didn't drug her, too?
I wonder if other victims will come forward, or other incidents come to light.
