My mind is blown at the lengths the state will go to in order to keep these two men in prison. It’s nonsense, and it really speaks to the ego involved in this whole ordeal.

Really believe victims brother and ex were involved somehow..they appear as guilty as sin and are very shifty indeed..something not right there, im sure one day the truth will out. One major red flag was the cd the cops had from Bobby's computer that was never presented in court. Full of sick demented porn and photo's of dead women!! Then Kratz goes out of his way to label Bobby's computer "Brendan's computer". Total con job on the prosecution, Bobby should of been the main suspect.
AGREED! From everything I've seen, I'd bet anything that Bobby Dassey committed the crime and Brendan witnessed it and was told to pin it on Steven.
@@pixelsandplanners I guess Bobby has killed Teresa and Brendan been aware and maybe even participated in one way or another to protect her brother. They may have been close to each other because sometimes had same bedroom? No matter how so, Brendan is very loyal to his family. Their mother would have understood the whole situation and do not want to expose her view.
I think Brendan seen nothing, or his story would have made more sense. I think Bobby did it, Scott helped him cover it up, thinking Avery would get the blame, never guessing Brendan confess. I think The Ex boyfriend helped move the car, at the direction of Colburn.

It’s amazing to me that the Halbachs don’t care about finding Teresa’s actual murderer. Of course her life was precious, but so is Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s. It’s inconceivable that they will just accept what the state says blindly when it’s clear they manipulated the whole case. I mean don’t you want justice for Teresa? If it were my family member I would want the truth even if it hurts.
The fact that they are so quiet is disturbing. I'm hoping that someone who was involved with this case will turn whistleblower but I can't see it at the moment. To them the Avery's are trailer trash and not important.
The family of Theresa has suffered horrendously, nobody in their right mind will argue against that. However, one life lost does not justify, REGARDLESS of the circumstances, the desecration of 2 more lives and their entire families. In my opinion, the Halbachs are just as bad as the dirty law enforcement officers in this case. Colborn is about the equivalent of Theresa’s ridiculous brother, just looking for a finger to point to make himself feel better. Pride has destroyed our legal system and 3 entire families are broken beyond repair because of this mess. So much suffering. Pain does not be-get more Pain. The only answer that will ever make sense it the truth. Tunnel vision ruined this county. The LEO’s deserve to pay for their arrogance and pride the same way the actual criminals should. May God bring justice and peace to these suffering families, and strike down the guilty party in swift justice.

i honestly feel this is all about the prime real estate his parents own. somebody wants it and the only way to get it is to force them to sell. it is not an unknown strategy to frame the person that holds it near and dear to their heart and drain the family's resources on legal bills to force them to sell. the one thing that stuck out the most was that in the news footage of him, his hands were "mechanic workin' " dirty. and his house was a friggin mess. i am convinced there is no way he killed her in that house and not have blood everywhere and i cannot fathom him killing her without having to clean his hands. nope.
and the school should be ashamed of themselves for allowing an interrogation of that boy without his mom with him. i strictly instructed my kids to never let that happen should the police try to question them. i also informed the schools that it would not go well for them should they even attempt to question my kids for anything without my presence.
if nothing else, there is extreme reasonable doubt.

I thought one of the male judge on the 3 judge panel hearing Brendan Dassey case had made up his mind of guilt even before his layer said a word and the 7 judge panel wouldn't let his layer end a sentence before they were interrupted her And it was clear all the male judges had already made up their minds of denying his appeal

Well three judges voted him innocent and argued saying that Brendan was coerced. The other 4 started arguing. Especially that younger looking female judge with the glasses. She apparently accused Brendan's lawyer of trying to change the law.
Pablo De Mishima yes...on the en banc panel? I know who you’re referring to. I think the term “special care” has been forgotten in all of this for young people, and people with learning disabilities. The three judge panel voted in Brendan’s favour two to one. Judge Hamilton said not to look for “new, best practices....” it’s not new.....special care is there, and unfortunately, seems to have been dismissed along with Dassey!
So sorry for Theresa's family but thats not enough to keep potential innocents in prison and avoid their story. And its sad I keep hearing Thersas name used as a way to keep them in prison and keep their story unheard. Imagine people using your murder to justifying destroy two potential innocent lives? What the law er Enforcement and prosecutor et cetera gets away with in this case is shocking.
Even worse, the police threatened to arrest the coroner is she interfered!

That was one of the worst parts of season 2. Unbelievable. And the Bobby dassey computer uncovering. Those 2 things blew me away.
What was her name? I cried during her interviewed. She was very passionate and just wanted justice for Theresa.
Debra Kakatsch. It’s very strange that there was a “homicide “in the coroner was not only left in the dark, but told to steer clear or she would be arrested. Then they cited a conflict of interest with the previous Avery lawsuit. She wasn’t even involved in the lawsuit however the police department was. The same Police Department who was not supposed to be involved in any of this investigation but as we know now was neck deep in it and made some very controversial discoveries of evidence.

This entire case is UNBELIEVABLE.
Kratz is despicable...This was clearly a set up and that conclusion was easy to come to by watching season 1... By season 2's end it is outright angering. The court/Justice (lack thereof) system is outrageous and runs about as efficiently as any govt institution.
Nothing is worse in my eyes than being falsely accused... FREE them both.

I do agree with you. Prior I was binge watching a lot of true crime on net flix when they recomended this making a murderer. What a contrast with how other states and countrys behave. Most if not all investigations had extensive photo evidence, not this one. Crime scene declared sterile and access controlled, not this one. Luminol light used to detect bloud trace in suspects crime scene, but not this one. ME or county corroner has imediate claim on remains and no one touches the body or remains untill released by them. not in this case. in fact some of the remains were moved from another location,
This has a very funny smell about it. The smell of 36 million. Now this is held up world wide to see how corrupt the judicial system is, and I blame them as they should have jumped all over the police and the DAs office for lack of control of the supposed crime scene and the press statement KRATZ made prior to trial evidence had been presented.
The judge should have declared a miss trial and requested a new venue and new DA
Yet….Steven is super awful to his women…I mean really can we also look at him a bit closer please? There are things he is blatantly saying….flippantly….and its not just disgruntled exes…this is not cool….he is not just this sweet mommas boy unjustly suspected for all sorts of reasons….this is a shit show…they are all morally culpable. This community needs us all to help them become more accountable for their own health and lifestyle. Not the huge horrible issues. Yet…this is a very complicated story and there are sooo many shadows to see in all angles.

@@johndavid8363 They (he) did indeed, but until watching the second series and seeing Zellner find sizeable holes in their defence, it did appear like they did a reasonable job and were unlucky to lose. There were also some unfair restrictions placed upon them at the trial, evidence was kept away from them which has now come to light, and they were against the clock to some extent. I was disappointed when Zellner mentioned that they failed to use the sniffer dog trails in the defence, as this seemed like quite a big deal, but all said and done, they were never supposed to win it!
They were never going to “win” this case. It was all a set up from day one. If someone else would have came forward and admitted to killing Ms. Halbach it still wouldn’t have changed this outcome. The whole system is corrupt.

Joe Kerr as soon as I heard the exonerated Avery was convicted of murder I truly believed he did it. I thought there was absolutely no way he would be charged and convicted for another crime he was innocent of. But as I learned more about the case before MAM I started having doubts. After watching MAM Along with my own research I have done a complete 180. Avery and especially Dassey are innocent. The people who really had a motive was not Avery or Dassey, it was the state. I wish the Justice system actually cared about justice and truth instead of just convictions.

I am always sick to my stomach knowing that in life its always those in power that win. I would love to put all those in that power hiding the truth in prison. How do we get judges, police officers and the rest of them to tell the truth. What a Rotten world we all live in so so currupt.

Brendan's case his attorney was supposed to argue her case and she couldn't get a complete sentence in before she was interrupted. It pissed me off.
wonder how this controversy has affected Wisconsin tourism or interest in the State .... seems there is a lack of checks and balances in the court system.

One common theme from part 2 is peace for the Halbach family. What happened to that young woman is absolutely horrific, and my heart aches for her friends and family. When it comes to justice, however, the focus can't, "eh, let's just leave these two men in jail even if they're innocent, because the family needs peace." If there is a reasonable belief - based on evidence - that Stephen and Brandon may be innocent here, then it should be pursued until there is resolution and clarity. Certainly you wish that there was some way to further investigate and navigate the court system without causing the family additional pain, but these are two separate issues. My impression is that Stephen Avery is not a good person, but if he's innocent of these charges, then every additional minute he spends in prison is an injustice. The same goes for Brandon.

Ive been around meth heads and addicts my whole life and I Guarentee Avery is Not a good person. Coincidences are very rare when it comes to murder, he was probably guilty of first one too. I doubt hes innocent and if he is.....poor baby!

Too many men, police officers, judges who aren't man enough to admit they made a mega mistake in getting Steven and Brendan convicted. Right from the first court scenes, Kratz made my flesh crawl. He is definitely guilty of inventing this sick bedroom scene that I would say came from his own perversions. If I was one of the Halbachs family members, I would not be ignoring the HUGE FACT that there beloved Teresa's killer is still enjoying life in freedom. They have helped this person or persons get away with murder literally!
Investigators did not do their due diligence. There are other possible suspects, more possible leads, limited forensic analysis done, and so much contradiction involved. If my child was murdered, I would be incredibly dissatisfied with the whole situation really. With so many unanswered questions, and so many manipulations of the facts, I could never call this justice. It would make me wildly angry.
I worked in the jail system correction officer for 30 years my supervisors they had come up to me and tell me to change my paperwork because it’s incorrect it happened the way I wrote it BUT they want the innocent to stay in the jail system long SAD.. I had to retire I could not Lied... I pray that the lawyers don’t give up...A combat veteran 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎖
One huge thing that’s shocked me is that the cause of death in Brendan’s case was cut throat, Stevens was death by burning. Both contradicted each other but worst of all there was NO blood !

I have watched both parts...not trying to sound mean but neither Steven Avery or Brendan Dassey have the intelligience to have pulled this crime off and leave as little evidence that was found. As a paralegal I would love to spend one day working with Zellner.
Absolutely. Just look at the bedroom. It's littered with clutter and filth, wall to wall. You're telling me that a woman was stabbed and had her throat slit in that bedroom, and Avery somehow cleaned up all that blood and DNA while maintaining that trailer park "lived in look" just to throw off investigators? Then, of course, he dragged the bleeding victim to the garage, without leaving a single drop of blood, and then shot her in the head without any blood spatter on the wall-to-wall crap that was in that garage? But then, of course, these two criminal masterminds didn't bother cleaning up the bloodstains in the victim's car... and oh yeah, just tossed her keys in the house hoping no one would find them?? Anyone who believes the state's case against these guys must have an IQ lower than Brendan's. It's just absolutely astonishing.

No; what happened was an unreal confluence of two events. The ex-boyfriend and the police were involve in a frame-up while Brendan Dassey's brother and stepfather killed her and burned the body. Neither side knew what the other was doing , and they unraveled both sets of events simultaneously.

Well apparently the jury was 7 for innocent, 2 undecided, and 3 for guilty. But the jury members who were convinced from the beginning that steven was guilty remained so stubborn that they basically swayed the decision

David David read the trial transcripts. The only thing it left out was really the sweat DNA, and we ALL know that sweat doesn’t leave DNA. Seven jurors were for not guilty.....three turned the nine, and said they’d drop the mutilation of the body charge, if the nine voted guilty to murder! How did that work? Guilty of murder....but, not mutilating a corpse found cremated in your yard? BS!

I don't know what the legalities are but holding Brendan after conviction was thrown out, i would have thought that is unlawful imprisonment regardless of appeals... but thats my naivety talking. Judge Willis looked shady asf, didn't give the coroner the time of day.. Season 2 steered away from Lenk this time....Mmmm
Vicki Jo apparently, that’s where the habeas corpus was affected by Clinton with the AEDPA. Where no person should sit in jail for a moment if proven innocent......but, the AEDPA writ stops this.
Wren Woodard his cousin admits she lied. And, there is absolutely no DNA evidence whatsoever in regard to Brendan Dassey. You and I both know about his confessions......his own attorney had Mike O’Kelly draw pictures after Dassey was saying he didn’t do it. Then, without any attorney present....the two detectives Weigart and Fassbender, threaten Brendan with his mother. This boy was well below average IQ, his story makes absolutely no sense, and there’s not a shred of DNA evidence to back his story up.
Retrial? Again, we both know that without that ridiculous confession, the state has NOTHING. Do you honestly believe that this boy is so smart that he can remove EVERY trace of DNA from the trailer and garage.....and leave dust behind? I’m a sterilisation technician, and I couldn’t do that! Even crime scene cleaners use enzymes to break down blood, and even then they can’t remove it from carpet. I’ve read every transcript, and post conviction motion i can get my hands on regarding this case.....and, it’s a ridiculous story. I made a qualified decision on what I believe. You give me one piece of, what should be ample DNA evidence, considering the nature of the killing according to Brendan’s confession....but, you cannot because it doesn’t exist!

Brendan's Lawyer Lenk was nothing but a weasel. He loved the camera, did you see his creepy smile the minute the cameras appeared. The things he did to Brenden should have been enough to throw the case out, especially when the investigator went to see him and made Brendan draw on the paper and change his story, even after he wrote and said out loud that the truth was that it never happened.
I've watched Part 2 and believe that all the last-minute hysteria to keep Brendan behind bars is because if his conviction is overturned they've got nothing on Steven. The "confession" they got from Brendan was all they had to hang their hat on and with that gone the case falls apart like a cheap suit.
Actually, what they needed the Brendan confession for was to support the forensic evidence that they had already planted. Even if the confession is thrown out, they'll still try to use the DNA evidence from the key, the hood latch and the bullet fragment. They knew this evidence on its own was sketchy, but the confession distracted from that fact. No one is going to question why the bedroom was "squeaky clean" of DNA when an accomplice confessed that the woman was chained up and murdered there. But why on earth did the defense not succeed in convincing a jury that it would be nearly impossible to erase all the blood evidence and other DNA from a woman who had allegedly been raped and murdered in that room? It would take a team of specialists to clean all that up and then re-stage the room to look "lived in." And even then, there'd be evidence of cleaning supplies having been used (bleach, etc). There is ZERO evidence of that. What reasonable person would believe that Steven Avery and a 16-year old kid with an 80 IQ could pull that off? And oh... by the way, despite being criminal masterminds, they didn't bother destroying the SUV (despite living at a junkyard and having the tools to do so) or even wiping off the obvious blood spatter. You would have to have an IQ lower than Brendan's to believe that story.
It is clear as day now that they are innocent. Knowing what we know now...I question people who still think they are guilty. I really do. Not one piece of evidence adds up that the prosecution had. Still doesn't.
detroitforever This isn’t a popular position because the show did such a good job presenting only ONE side of the story. Especially Part Two. All of this new evidence this Zellner lawyer puts forth is smoke and mirrors. They are theories. Plus all her experts go without being cross examined like in a court of law, nor are opposing experts presented.. so of course it appears these guys are not guilty.
But here is how this new Zellner lady works. She presents theories, not proof. Prove someone else did it, she can’t. Prove those two didn’t do it, she can’t. She only presents unreasonable doubt.
For example, she proved that a bullet cannot got through a skull without leaving bone fragments on the spent bullet. Yes she proved that. So, it casts doubt: but here is her trickery, the prosecution never argued to the jury that the bullet went through a skull. It is a Straw Man Argument. Disproving a fact never presented.
Here is why I know he is guilty. All the smoke and mirrors doesn’t change this: And yes I realize they have very low IQs. Still, he told his mom Steve and him did it. He didn’t realize it was recorded. And with Steven’s lies...

He denies a fire and they made sure he understood the timeline, and he doesn’t mention Brendan coming over at all (He also denies having a fire the night of Oct 31 on previous interrogations but this one was the only one that had video. @@justmytwobits, All that is required under the law is to prove "reasonable doubt." What you describe as "theories" is the ONLY thing required by law to throw out a conviction. If the facts in evidence support more than one possible suspect with equal or nearly equal motive, opportunity and supporting circumstantial evidence, that is SUPPOSED to result in a not-guilty verdict. Zellner does not have to prove that someone else did the crime. She has to prove that the state did not correctly handle the available evidence and/or withheld evidence from trial that would have pointed to other possible suspects. She has proven those points with support from 10+ reputable experts, and if an evidenciary hearing were granted, she would destroy the state's case. The issue is that the courts are blocking that evidence from ever making it into court.

My point with the doubt is for me to accept any of those scenarios as, ‘possible’ does create reasonable doubt. However, for me to accept any of those scenarios as, ‘possible’ means that everything else is a mere coincidence. SA just happened to call asking for specific lady. As someone who has a family member murdered and the person or people have never been caught, I can understand how the trials and documentaries bring up such pain and discomfort. What I can't understand is how someone can be ok with someone sitting in prison and not be sure that they actually killed the person they are convicted of killing. That would not make me feel better. I would want to know that the person who actually killed my loved one would never be able to hurt or kill another innocent person

Liz P. Yes...I absolutely hate to feel that way, but if I’m honest, then his statements while Teresa was missing, but not yet found dead, were extremely disconcerting to me. He spoke of moving on and he referred to Teresa in the past tense. Then that interview while Ryan Hilegas was there and was asked if they’d been on the Avery property, he was jumping from foot to foot, and he looked extremely rattled. Something isn’t right. I’d want to know 100% without doubt who killed my sister.....and, I’d have too many questions to be certain of Avery being the culprit.

I feel really sorry for the beautiful Teresa and her family as well and it's also impossible for me after watching these serie of documentaries to blame Steven or his newphie Dassey.
And as the previous Steven's lawyer said : I really hope that both Dassey and Steven were those who commit this horrible crime, otherwise this might be the saddest injustice story ever happened on Americans courts since Steven might be the only prisoner who made it to prison twice for something he had never done.

This whole thing is so tragic, especially the murder of TH. I cannot imagine what the family has/is going through, but I would like to believe they are decent people who would like to see the right person(s) responsible brought to justice. Even if the family is not making their opinions public, I truly believe they have questions about all the evidence that has been brought to our attention since 2006.

The fact that no law enforcement officials were never indicted shows how corrupt and how they had motive to go after Avery. One day that won’t fly anymore. People will eventually rise up to combat this type of injustice
What is ridiculous is that, in plain sight, there is a block on even seeing new evidence! They are not even really fighting the right for steven to have it heard. Just judging each judge's or panel's decision based on the previous judgement, rather than the actual case. I wish the judges were forced to watch the documentary, then they might listen. For those saying the documentary is biased, it is because zellner is uncovering evidence all the time, while the prosecution has nothing more to add. Its a bit like fundamentalists clinging to disproved views as science moves on. Each of the prosecution's points are systematically demolished, or require better testing,which can't happen because it makes them wrong. As for brendan, the leading of that confession is so blatantly obvious it's frightening that it even needs judging on. And again, the lawyers make it clear; it's not enough to say the confession was forced, nooo, again, the state rulings must be really, really bad judgements before there's an appeal possible. Ie, we're not really worried about the truth, just want to make sure the letter of the law is followed. Ridiculous. And then on to Bobby and his repellent search history. This won't be considered because Steven can't force a trial? Really? So not interviewed as a suspect initially and as long as the court system acts like this he's still wandering about and probably watching more crazy stuff (crapping himself I hope). Not a suspect? Nooo, we know it was Steven. Hillegas? Not a suspect. Tadych? Not a suspect. Dreadful, not just 2 miscarriages of justice leading to 2 stooges rotting away, but an ongoing systematic continuance of a miscarriage of justice that won't even hear their cases. Sickening. I watched this a couple years ago. What bothered me more than anything was the teenager being introduced and interrogated even though it was painfully clear his mind was working at a much younger pace.
. I had to stop and come back to it few days later because it was so disturbing. I m , completely thrilled to hear that the innocent young man, managed to be released from prison!! God bless that young man!
He hasn't been released and won't be for the foreseeable. He lost his last appeal to the federal appeals court En Banc who reinstated his conviction. His lawyers then went to the Supreme Court who declined to review the case.

I found season two riveting. I came to the conclusion at the end of season one that another member of the family committed this murder. I believe the police knew that but because of the likelihood of the success of Stevens case against the county they pinned it on Steven. It was one of that family therefore they have dealt with the threat of a lawsuit and have someone incarcerated as well. Season two makes it clear it was Bobby. Bobby has shared his crime with Brendan. The police did know what happened to Teresa so were able to feed leads to Brendan. Bobby had told Brendan or even had Brendan help him clean up. I believe the police know exactly what happened to Teresa and it was decided during the few days Teresa’s whereabouts were not known by the public. That’s why the police were able to question Brendan and feed him details that they knew Brendan knew because Bobby shared details to Brendan or even involved him post crime. Those four days that Teresa was missing was the time the police and the county had to frame Steven.

Maybe Bobby and/or Scott could’ve planted evidence as well. If they were involved in her disappearance they definitely had the ability to gain entry to Steven’s trailer and the Avery property... between police & these two the whole case could’ve been made. Brendan was a casualty the true killers didn’t count on. Also how did the ex-boyfriend get Theresa’s outlook itinerary for the day she disappeared with HER HANDWRITING on it?? That had to be in the vehicle! Tons of reasonable doubt!!!
In part 2, Brendan's mother Barb and Scott state that Bobby never saw Teresa go into the trailer and later she even posted that on FaceBook, how is it possible that SA has not been given a new trail with all the information being provided....it stinks to high heaven!
Just the way in which the car was hidden on his property was very suspicious. Steven had access to earth moving and demolition equipment so to leave the car on his property hidden with a branch and a broken pallet makes no sense to me.
Plus, he magically managed to erase all blood and DNA evidence from his bedroom, despite allegedly having stabbed and slit the victim's throat, but then didn't bother to dispose of the keys (the one item that conveniently did have DNA on it) or wipe down the car to get rid of the obvious blood spatter? On what planet does that make any sense whatsoever?

Our justice system is f'ed up. Zellner presented a lot of evidence that would make a rational jurist say that they can't convict based on reasonable doubt. However, now that he has been convicted, Zellner essentially has to prove his innocence. I can't imagine what people go through when this happens to them and they are given the death penalty.
There needs to be a re-trail for Avery and Dassey. The notion that the victims family and friends are distressed by the process has some merit but surely the pursuit of the truth should be of paramount importance to all concerned. Could somebody be getting away with murder?

I don’t think it was slow the first half, I need the details and the layers to grasp the whole process. It’s not supposed to be solely entertaining, it wants us to understand the legal procedures and then make our own judgement.
During the bullet test, it appear that it is not a .22 caliber. I wish they went further and try to define which type of caliber actually did the wound, then investigate to find out if the potential suspects own or have registered such a caliber. Also, I would try to find the actual murder site where Theresa was actually shot, based on what the hound dogs found in the first place, and have a few people with metal detectors looking for the actual kill bullet. It could still be down there in the woods...
This poor family has been through hell and back for 18yrs with Steven’s 1st false rape conviction and now the grandson Brendan and Steven are falsely convicted again. They are INNOCENT let them go!!! They need to find the real killer!

This is a terrible event in American justice that needs to be rectified Steven deserves another trial and the truth needs to come out no one should have to go through this and for the victims sake the real murderer needs to be found and put to justice before if he hasn't already kills again.
You guys should do a follow up to this, a lot more to talk about. I disagree with Gene though about the mannequin blood test. I understand how it could be gratuitous to a friend or family member of Teresa but I think there is way more to it than that. It's a blood splatter test where you have to reenact the crime scene so having to throw the mannequin in every possible way Teresa's blood could have got on the car in this way. And I think they made their point showing that no matter how much fake blood they put on the mannequin head, there was no blood splatter that matched the blood on the Rav4. Also completely putting aside the fact that Steven would have no reason to even put her in his car if she was already on his property at the time of the murder.

After part one I had a strong sense of what a creep Kratz "is" believing that a lot of the evidence, witnesses and police were staged.
After the second part I am sure that Kratz is a self serving creep and I would not put anything past him.
Even if there is no second trial, I hope that the latter is called to task for so many lies, breaking/stretching the law and to a degree slandering both defendants; before, during and after the trials.

Did I Just hear Avery's lawyer calmly say the witness that came forward after the trial and said he saw her car parked down the road, (after she was murdered), reported it to the dirty cop Colburn, who didn't report it.. that was "interesting". Interesting is hardly the word. It's grounds alone for a new trial. It's maybe the most important new fact to come out of season 2.

Zellners brilliant work in Part 2 made me believe Scott and Bobby did it. I no longer believe the cops murdered her, burned her body and then sneaked into Averys property planting the bones in Stevens fire pit. Neither do I see how the cops could obtain blood DNA from Hallbach's burned body and apply in on the bullet one month later after the murderer took place. Steven didn't do it. He passed the worlds most advanced polygraph.
The cops obtained Halbach's DNA from her apartment. They then applied it to the bullet fragment that they found lying around the garage -- you know, the fragment that had ZERO bone fragments but had wood particles embedded (because it had clearly been shot through the garage wall). The cops had motive (to save face and avoid paying out on Avery's lawsuit) and opportunity (unrestricted and unsupervised access to the crime scene, access to DNA of both the victim and the accused, control of the chain of custody of the evidence).
All of the conspiracy theories regarding cops planting evidence are so far fetched. Why making the trouble planing evidence at all when the had Brendan's testimony plus the bones plus the RAV4.
Neither believe I the cops killed a young innocent woman to frame Steven. How did the cops know Hallbach went to the Avery property that day? How did they know Steven was about to lid a bonfire later that evening? How did the cops manage to burn her body at an yet unknown place and undetected sneak up on Steven's yard an place the her bones in his fire pit? And how did they undetected ditch Hallbach's RAV4 close to Steven's home? The murder cops were obviously very lucky as Steven lied about Hallbach visited him (he denied it first, then he changed his story after a witness came forward) as well as making two suspicious phone calls using the *67 feature. Any other attempt to frame Steven would be easier like planting a large amount if heavy drugs at his home or even kill Steven.
At the end of MoM Part 2 Zellner suggests two other suspects: Bobby and Scott. If they did it (which I believe) the police conspiracy theory is overturned totally.
Douglas Hamilton, Nearly every point you made was addressed ad nauseum on the show. If Bobby and Scott did have something to do with the murder, that does not in any way preclude that the cops intentionally planted evidence to pin the crime on Steven Avery. The two are not mutually exclusive. You’re also ignoring the apparent sequence of events. They did not obtain the confession and then plant the evidence. It was the other way around. They fed Brendan the information they needed him to say in order to substantiate the evidence they had ALREADY placed. That’s why they insisted he mention the car hood and kept trying to get him to change his story about the location of the alleged shooting. Also, explain how Avery managed to magically erase all blood and DNA evidence from his bedroom and garage except for two tiny pieces of evidence that these shady deputies just happened to find.... but then he parks the victim’s car on his lot with obvious blood spatters throughout the interior and doesn’t even bother wiping it down?? You want to talk about far-fetched? The prosecutor ‘s story had more plot holes than a bad daytime drama.
In the second season you will see the comprehensive tests which were done by Kathleen Zellner. If you had doubts about these guys before and think season one was one sided, they will fade as they are completely innocent.

Also the truck driver who see the car and reported to the same police from the first case. That police, and the brother who testified against his uncle, stepfather and ex boyfriend are primarily suspects here. What really bothers me is that the family of the victim and I can understand their conflict and pain but don't they want to know who really did this to her daughter? It is loud and clear that they are innocent and new discoveries are probing this. Can't waith to see them free. Unfortunately the justice are so cruel that they delay the case. I just hope that justice prevails.

All I'm going to say is a guess only.
For me Bobby and / or his stepfather may be the murderers and they forced Branden to make up the story told to the inspectors.
Since Branden has a very low IQ and the whole Avery family is aware of it, his brother and / or his stepfather must have threatened him with bogus stories that a teenager does not want to be known by the family or his school friends
And if you notice, Branden has been pretty sure he's going to be released after telling the inspectors the very first story.
Then when Branden knew he might be in jail for a long time, he started to refute his claims.
On the other hand, the city owed Steven a large sum of money because of the first sentence and that could exceed the sum of money and put important people in prison.
As a result, the police may have had find the real culprit (Bobby and / or his stepfather) and they forced them to put everything on Steven's back so that all parts of this sad story (the city, the police and the real killers) find themselves in a good situation.
It remains to be seen in the two assumptions:
1) The case where Steven and Branden are the culprits: Why he left the RAV4 exposed to the general public? Why he will commit such a crime when he knew that he will generally receive a large sum because of the first sentence and he can live like a king with it. BUT, he was still imprisoned for many years where he met only criminals and had burned a cat before, something that some serial killers had done when they were children or before they became monsters.
2) The case where Bobby and the stepfather are the culprits: Why they are going to commit this crime when they had almost never committed a crime before BUT, according to the documentary "Making a murderer" Bobby had indeed photos and research on the internet that are very bizarre (Photo of drowned dead women and very hard pornographic categories, etc.) which for me suspicious.
And then, finally, I really can not decide who is the real culprit and I hope that one day they will find the real killer of the beautiful Teresa.
Too much credibility is given to the trial judge and his/her ruling. Even when judges make mistakes or have a clear bias it's very difficult to win an appeal. We have a broken judicial system in this country that cares not about truth or justice.

They were very quick in convicting Steven Avery, especially as it only took days to announce Teresa’s disappearance. Her family looked so odd in their lack of emotional response to him being arrested . Shady is an understatemen the mother crying with out tears . And possibly the reason no one has said anything, is because no one has the courage to do it, because all the cards will fall down. 36 million law suit would’ve of wrecked these scum bags lives , who set Steven and Brendan up. Not one suggestion has ever been mentioned regarding a motive? Why would he kill her she’s been there before to take pics of cars.

Jerry Buting seemed like a great lawyer in season 1 and all credit to him but when you see the amount MORE that Kathleen Zellner is doing you kind of have to wonder..., how did Buting and Stang miss SO MUCH? I dont think Buting and Stang are bad lawyers I just think this was way too complex of a case for their expertise. Kathleen is clearly built for this case and I think if anyone could have won Averys original trial it would have been her, she is Steven Avery's best chance at freedom.

Something I noticed, not sure if it leads to anything... When Brendan is questioned there's little mention of Steve's name being used/refered to.. I noticed alot of "Then he, he, he" very rarely so you hear him mention Steven .. could it possibly be that Brendan took part in the murder though it wasn't Steven who he took part with but his brother and or Scott?.. Perhaps due to his mental facilities lack there of he was threatened to be involved then was threatened by his step-father to stay silent?..
Perhaps when the police came knocking he was warned/threatened by Scott to pin it on Steven, though when interrogated he broke by giving details though by fear replaced Scott's name with Steven's??? I sincerely think this might be what actually took place.
If you look back in footage you hear Brendan say "They got into my head".. In my opinion Barb was edgy/nervous at this point, you can see it's as if he's betrayed her.

To me, the LACK of evidence is far more compelling than the evidence presented. I really wish competent investigators without a motive and the obvious intent to "bring Avery down" had looked at this case. Their bias is evident from the start: "Is Steven in custody?" The officer asks, before any details have been presented to him, before any witnesses were interviewed, before he knew ANYTHING. There were 9 people living on the property at the time. Yet, their investigation centered around Steven from the start. AND THEY HAD NOTHING. There was literally NO physical evidence tying Steven (or Brendan) to this crime. The cops didn't follow the trail of evidence, they made evidence to fit their ever-changing bullshit theory. If the case had been investigated by impartial investigators neither of these two men would be in jail. Kratz presented TWO DIFFERENT theories for how Teresa was killed (shot in Steven's trial, throat slit in Brendan's) yet somehow both are considered "the truth." Would any competent investigator without a motive come to this conclusion? I seriously doubt it.

Personally I hope they both get off soon, cant believe Bobby was not investigated over what was on the pc, stinks all of it, Kathleen was amazing the lengths she going to to clear Steven!
It's a work of art... Bleak House comes to mind. It's fascinatingly good and I hope the good guys succeed over those sleazy corrupt scum bags.
What I want to know is how many of the judges featured in season 2 were up for re-election this year (especially the one who refused to even look at the new evidence)? I think Avery's new attorney is brilliant, but I think she failed to consider the political pressures that judges are under leading up to an election. No one wants to have their political opponents running ads about how you exonerated a convicted murderer. I wonder if the appeals process would have gone differently if they had filed those appeals AFTER the election.
I hope the newly elected Attorney General of Wisconsin Mr. Josh Kaul does something for Steven Avery.
Like many here, I too watched both part 1 and part 2 and I am fully convinced that the evidence was planted. I would try Ken Kratz for lying and manipulating evidence together with Brad Schimel, those two cops who coerced Brendan, the new boy friend of Stven Avery's sister and her older son. They are all guilty.
