Marshmallows
What you need.....
3 tablespoons (24 g) unflavored gelatin
1 and 1/2 cups (315 g) granulated sugar
1 cup (250 ml) corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon (1 g)salt
1 Tablespoon (20 g) vanilla
1 cup (250 ml) cold water
1/2 cup (60 g) confectioners sugar for dusting
Fruit option:
2 Tablespoons (6 to 8 g) fruit powder
How to make this....
Take 1/2 cup of water and place in a small dish.
Sprinkle gelatin over the water and whisk to dissolve. Set aside.
In a small sauce pot, combine the additional 1/2 cup of water, the sugar, salt, and corn syrup.
Heat on high until this mixture reaches 240 degrees F (115 C).
Remove from heat and add to the bowl of a stand mixer (fitted with the whip attachment) with the gelatin mixture and the vanilla.
Whip on high until mixture is cool, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Spray your pan lightly with nonstick baking spray and spread the mixture evenly.
Wrap and let the marshmallows set up overnight.
Dust your work surface with powdered sugar and turn marshmallow block out.
Cut into desired shapes and toss in remaining corn starch.
Store at room temp in a sealed container or bag.
Fruit option....
If you are making fruit flavored marshmallows, after step 6 add a few drops of water to your fruit powder to create a paste and fold the paste into the vanilla marshmallow mixture. Follow the remaining steps.

Fun marshmallow fact: marshmallow is named after the plant that used to be used instead of gelatin. They used the root of a mallow-flower that grew in marshes, which was a thickener. It also added a vaguely floral, vegetal taste to the candy. It's quite tricky to find marhsmallow root nowadays, but some people still make Ye Olde Marshmallowe with relative success.

I learned that fact from an episode of The Magic School Bus.
The Carnage Montage I didn't know I needed. Thank you.
Yay!!! Another actual video!!!!! The shorts were fun but I love the videos so much more
I agree totally!
Agreed!
Keep the supermarket shorts, but give us more videos!
I love all of your videos, and shorts! But the music, effects and editing on this was *chef's kiss* !!
Love it! The story about the picture frames is so creepy 😱😱😱
The idea was awesome and it looks delicious! But I need to know more about the frames!!!! Nobody else is freaking out about that!? How did they end up in your front door??
Thank you. Same question! The montage almost pushed it out of my mind.
Well, I’m not asking how it got by the door.
I just want to know if it stopped.
And is it true.
Maybe he has someone living in his attic or crawl space and messing with him. This happened to a woman, I read her first-person account. Small items of food would go missing but she thought at first it was her brother who had a spare set of keys, just playing a joke on her. Then one day while she was out her bathroom flooded and when she came home her little puppy that she'd shut in the bathroom was somehow in the sink, and safe, although there was no way it could have gotten up there by itself... Eventually the guy got caught but how freaky, right??!!
He is such an amazing baker we need to get this guy Man about cake views back
This was awesome lmfao the montage of you smashing the skulls 😂
Absolutely LOVE these skulls!!! Would love to see you make a marshmallow recipe with agar agar, or add the modification for your recipe. Haven't had much luck with homemade vegan marshmallows
Not sure where you are but over here we can get vegetarian gelatine powder… perhaps that would work for you.
Went to the comments to ask this same question! I would love to see an agar agar marsgm recipe
These look so good. I love the montage! Thank you for the wonderful Halloween episodes. This did NOT disappoint, and I'm really excited to see the next ones. 🧡🖤🧡🖤
“China?! You had _one_ job!” 🤣😂🤣😂 I’ve died!
Glad to see you guys still doing longer videos 😉
"You've been Desserted" spatulas should be in the merch store!:)
Sooooonnnn!
I guess if you had a big enough tub you could do some kind of disturbed graves presentation. Like half-buried in mashed up oreos.
How cathartic!
hahaha the skull-crushing is SO METAL
Love love love watching you JJR. So fun
This is definitely my favorite edits of all the episodes the one that blew up was 🤌🏾

Those skulls were SMASHING!! Loved it!

I just finished watching Bakers Dozen episode 1 on Hulu when this video notification popped up😅🥰
I love that the cyclops had TWO laser beams coming from his "one" eye. 😆
Love this haha. My daughter loves everything creepy and Halloween lol. I am making a zombie koala cake for her birthday on the 20th. She is so excited!
FYI - I inherited my grandma's old school recipes. I am working my way through them lol. There are some amazing 1940s and 50s gems!!!! Retro recipes maybe??
The halloween ones are always my favorite. This was awesome!!!

Off topic but you look great in this video JJR!
Thank you!!
SO GLAD there's a whole video, because the carnage alone was really intense.. also, super curious about the gray nail polish only on one hand...
I love all the different looks and costumes in the opening sequence JJR! Looking forward to some more costumed kitchen mayhem this month 🎃🎃🎃
Haha! This episode was so grossly fun! I smiled the whole time. I was waiting for someone to pretend to be a high school principal or coach threatening to "crack some skulls!"
To everyone who is reading this:
You are beautiful! ❤
This is a bad ass video 💀☠️🏴☠️💀☠️🏴☠️
That was GREAT!!! Although I might be just a wee bit worried about Joshua after the last 20 seconds of that video 😱🤯🤕

this was so much fun :D loved the skull carnage. I've been watching JJR since I bought the swiss meringue butter cream tutorial.. I still use the recipe now because it's so light n fluffy. LIke eating a cloud. love you guys
😂 Chocolate skulls are the best.
Little disappointed that they didn't take this opportunity to recreate their logo with one of the skulls, but otherwise I loved the video! I might have to check out the mould for my own machinations!
THIS WAS AWESOME!!! Shame we dont celebrate halloween where I'm from 😁🤣😍💀😈
I almost feel like this should have a flash warning
You guys should do a raffle and the winner gets to bake a cake with you guys.
The heavy metal was killer!!!
❤
I love your videos I watch your man about cake channel even though you dont put vids on it anymore
OMG!!!!! I LOVE THE COSTUME!! I'm a huge X-men fan, however Cyclops is my least favorite Xman. However you still look great JJR😆
Why does this remind me of the movie "The Phantom" from my childhood
I love your videos I want one of your t shirts please
I'm so confused by the ten people that down voted this video. How can there be that many people that hate joy?
I like the way you think;)
Was going to make a joke about how the blood was rushing to his brain, but instead I think I'll joke about the cast of Indiana Jones being on your worktop.
JJR : excuse me, i droppped something
me : ummm puh-lease pick it up
I know I can comment on the cake part of this video, and probably will at some point,, but I gotta say, can we talk about the nail polish?? LOVE that color!! Looks denim-y 👖
Thank you!!💅🏻
How much gold dust/gold paint/gold spray/gold everything does JJR need for every episode? Did you have to enforce a spending limit for all things gold and sparkly?
Storm never dated Cyclops not even in another dimension. But she did date Beast & Wolverine. Had a quick one or 2 with Gambit before he joined XMen when she was on excursion leaving the XMen
That's right Cyclops was Jean Grey's long time dating partner. Wolverine also had feelings for her.
@@tammygordon3177 they are all 3 living together now Jean dates (?!?) them both
I had to rewind for vanilla I heard bAnelle or something odd and was like wait what the hell is that brown syrup whats banelle something I hadnt heard of?!?!
Is JJR wearing blue nail polish? ♡
Something tells me this skull pinata episode is the epitome of JJR's childhood dreams.
Dad: What are you going to do son?
JJR: I'm gonna grow up, fill things with sparkles, paint them gold, and then smash them with a hammer!
Dad: That's my boy! :D
1. So DREAMY
2. Will you, pretty please, collab with the Tiny Chef, please??!?!?!
Gotta admit, kinda disappointed that you didn't bust out the pink frosting and sprinkles to make a Jimminy Sprinkles skullnata.
Loved this Episode!!! 🤣😋 Smasch those skulls 😈🤪
By the way, do you have any tips for tempering real chocolate?😅 I'm so frustrated over my attempts... 😒
Check out Ann Reardon's channel How To Cook That, she has very good tutorials on tempering chocolate.
My quick and dirty cheat based on one of her methods is to reserve 25% of the chocolate and chop that finely. Melt the rest in a heat-proof bowl in the microwave, in 30-second bursts, stirring after each time. Reduce to 20-second bursts when it's getting more melted. When it's almost all melted with hardly any lumps left, add your finely-chopped reserved chocolate and stir through to melt it in.
The solid chocolate acts like a seed for the crystallising process that you need for tempered chocolate (don't quote me on the science, watch Ann, she knows all the details!) . It's not proper tempering but if you don't have a decent thermometer (like I don't!) then this works OK.
This is the episode where we name our skully logo friend!! (if I didn't miss that already)
Gloody the Skullinata!!
(skull pinata)☠☠☠
Someone was a little too excited that the costume comes with an adult diaper 🤓
Great skulls. You guys definitely had a whole lot of fun destroying the skulls. It looked really fun and yummy, with a little bit gross, so perfect.
Where did the mold come from?
And this was super cool!
I was wondering that too, he said there was going to be a link but it seems to have been forgotten.
He said it's from chef rubber, so I'd check their website
@@kala6576 the link is in the description, under the recipes
@@paulacanonico6542 that link was not there yesterday when the video was uploaded. I also see that my comment with the link was removed for some reason.
YALL
GUYS
SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE ONE OF THEM LOOK LIKE UR MASCOT
This cake is amazing but after checking the price for that mold I’ll pass 😂
I always find you attractive but even though that Cyclops costume does not fit, it definitely brought back some suppressed memories of hating Cyclops and still being suuuuper attracted to him. Did not realize until now that 90s Era cyclops was my sexual awakening.
Marshmallow was also believed to be medicinal (still is), and was very expensive, at times reserved only for the pharohs and high ranking priests and their families.
