Me just finding out now JJR even had a day job 🤯 I thought making cakes and this show was his FT job
I wish it was!! Hopefully soon, we need more subs though!
Just for the record, guys, when they say "Yellow peppers" or "Green peppers" they mean BELL PEPPERS. They're talking about BELL PEPPERS because they did NOT use all those fancy peppers back them.
I figured as much.
@@YouveBeenDesserted Yeah, but you know, it was just as well that you used something with more spice to it? All that did was just add a little kick. Regardless. Spam anything is gross. XD kudos for being the brave soul to try it!
i knew as soon as he decided to use poblano peppers that he hadn't grown up in the 1950's. In my era and my mom's era, the grocery stores didn't even resemble what they do today. A green pepper was a bell pepper. Even finding a yellow pepper back then was not that common. My mom only ever used green bell peppers, just as my grandmother did before her. They never heard of a poblano pepper back then in the stores.
You should bake a cake that looks like a picnic basket with a bunch of desserts inside!
Y’all are freaking hilarious. “It’s a boy!!!” LOL
The carousel cake was a flashback to my 4th birthday. Moms made me this cake and invited all of the kids from apartment complex to eat with me
On Tonight's episode of 🎵Cooki'n with white people🎶 😂😂😂
Hey fellas, I just wanted to say thanks. I'm a wee babbeh baker myself, at a gluten-free, dairy-free bakery in Jacksonville. I recently just started back to work after maternity leave (#quarantinebaby) and I now work the night shift. This video was the little pick me up I needed to make it through dusting the last couple hundred GF snicker doodles with cinnamon sugar. 🍪 It gets kinda lonely in an empty bakery at 2am but you guys really made me laugh. Keep doing what you're doing! As long as that doesn't involve cream of mushroom and ketchup again 😜
Last week I baked myself a birthday cake and when I took it out the fridge to final coat it, I dropped it on the counter 😭😭😭😭😭 Seeing you scratch the crumb coat makes me feel a bit better about it.
This cake looks a lot like something my Mom would have made for me back in the 70's. I love it! She learned to decorate cakes from her mom and now I am a third generation hobby cake decorator. It's great to see some good old fashioned piping skills! (The spam on the other hand.....eww)
😍😍😍 My three year old little girl Rory, came running into the livingroom saying "look! He's making me a birthday cake! Sooo tasty! Look he is putting the frosting on!" 🎂🎈🎁
You should make a tiny tiered cake that looks as awesome as your wedding cakes but serves around 4 people 😊 that would look so cute and I could recreate it without having leftover cake for years 😁
I realise this isn't quite what you mean, but for small cakes try Ann Reardon's (of "How to Cook That") mini kitchen playlist. Plus you can freeze cake, so that might be one way to deal with extras.
ok so chopped green peppers probably referred to bell peppers. I say this as a midwestern white woman from a long line of midwestern white women. If it doesn't say the type of pepper, it's bell pepper
As a southern cook I concur. If the type of pepper is not specified it is bell pepper.
Wow…..first here. Excited to see JJR’s cake creation…. I love the store bought icing hack….works great…specially when you’re in a hurry!! ❤️. We grew up on Spam burgers!!! Hated them then, hate them now. Never had a can of Spam in my house in 43 years of marriage!!! In 🇨🇦 was called Klick or Kam. When we were in Hawaii for our 40th anniversary, they had Spam EVERYWHERE!!! Even Spam ice cream 🤮. Hawaiian’s love their Spam!! Cake turned out super cute…❤️❤️❤️
I lived in Hawaii for a few years when I was super little, and i LOVED those spam "sushi" things you could get at gas stations. Literally just seaweed rice and spam haha
Delightful video. Thank you Betsy!
So impressed with your old school piping skills. I recognized them and it was so cool. My mom used to decorate cakes back in the 70s and it was very nostalgic for me.
Oh my goodness that video is now living rent free in all of our heads. I laughed harder than I should of.
Love y'alls energy and willingness to try new things. I'd love to see an episode of you decorating using only things the average person has in their kitchen.
This one made me laugh so hard I spit my coffee through my nose. Great idea for the bonus recipe. It was looking okay until the soup and the ketchup went in. And the cake is sooooooo awesome. Hugs and kisses.
That is EXACTLY what I image a drunk Joshua would be like lol ❤❤❤that video made my day
what a fun retro cake!! looks real cute! also the puking sounds at the spam recipe and the "hard to believe it used to be a cat" comment made me cry laugh!!! 😂😂😂
I so wish that had not been said!
A very sad cat Lady.
Gnar-gnar is my new favorite phrase 😂
JJR IS NEVER GOING TO PROMISE ANOTHER VIEWER THAT HE WILL MAKE ANOTHER SKETCHY RECIPE EVER AGAIN! JAMES'S GAGGING HAD ME CRACKING UP!🤣🤣😬
Stfu with the all caps. K. Bye.
Fun, as always! Thank you all!
It's good when fried, with cheese, tomato, and fresh Italian bread. I grew up with this, lol
My grandma used to put fried green tomatoes on her spam sandwiches.
Love your videos & how entertaining you guys are!
I've had an AWFUL day and my normal RUclips channels weren't making the cut today. But watching you make that Spam mess actually made me belly laugh, so thank you for making these videos!!!
I am so happy we could make you laugh!!!
I LOVE THIS! The interactions you guys have make this so great!
These retro recipes make me glad smell-a-vision doesn't exist
Lol, you guys seem to have so much fun together. Btw that chipped green pepper would have been a green bell pepper!
Coming this Summer to a Playlist near you... JJR "Drunk" Clips, episode 1: JJR falls off the cake wagon. Will James & Brandon be there to pick up the crumbs? [Insert dramatic soap opera music here] 🎥🎭😂💞
You guys are doing such good work! whenever I watch I always become inspired to go try make a beautiful cake myself.😊😊
You guys are truly awesome and so inspiring! Thanks for yet another hilarious episode! Hard to believe that used to be a cat cracked me up. 🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely loved this video!!! Cute cake!🤣
you guys posted on my birthday 🥰🥰🥰🥰 love the videos and your conversations... it makes me happy 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I love watching you guys it makes me smile😁!!
Agree with james! Funfetti is the best cake flavor
Recipie probably intended you to use green bell pepper, not poblano. And it did in fact look like my childhood.
Great job, your cakes always look so good!
omg you guys are literally so funny
The ketchup and cream of mushroom soup part is literally my only complaint of the retro dish. I use to eat fried Spam and [fried] eggs on Saturday mornings and it was the bomb.
This show is everything !!!
Thank you!!
Hello JJR,I love your videos they always make my day. Lots of love from Kenya💙.
When the video started and
I saw that recipe box I was immediately taken back to my moms kitchen. She had that box. I don’t know why. I don’t think she ever made a recipe from it. (She was a great cook and didn’t really need recipes.). I even kept it for awhile after she passed away in 1983. I loved flipping through the cards and I do think I made some of the recipes as I was learning to cook. The box is long gone but thanks for bringing back fond memories.
*Said in a heavy MN accent- "Heavens to Betsy! Don't ya' know, that's a lotta Spam!
Lmao this was too good!! I'm weak over here XD It's the spam drop and run for me lolzz
Cake was adorable....😍
I've been watching Joshua, since his food network challenge days and I fell in love, with his creativity and amazing personality then!! It's great to see him still doing what he loves and how far he still continues to grow!!! 💕💕💕

I clicked faster then James and Brandon could make a joke
Y'all made my week. I've been going through something but hearing Y'all voices made me laugh uncontrollably 😝🤣🤣😝❤😊😍
Absolutely love this- I just posted a video today of my vintage recipe card box as well- this is awesome!!!
Loving it :) everything you make is awesome. Loving it 😍 makes me wanna try and replicate these cakes and see how they turn out, loving you and the boys 👍🌈
That cake would be a hit at many kids parties. And beyond being a fun cake, I'm sure it was delicious.
This is giving me flashbacks to the early 80's. I remember making butter molds and a cherry meringue pie with pink meringue.
I would love to see JJR try making one of the cakes from the Australian Women's Weekly birthday cake book! 😂🥳
Yes!! The iconic train cake!!
Woah! The cake looks so good! That's actually something I'd like for my birthday or.. maybe something more festive, somehow the colors are just right up my alley (it's that how you say it?)
Well either way, thank you for making my my day/evening brighter once more! Really love all the good vibes in your videos, always funny always lightens my mood, so thank you😊🤗❤
Oh goodness merry Christmas! We’re talking about this on Twitter and I just found your video! Thank you!
You guys make me laugh so much!!!
I love these videos!!!❤️Super cool!
Yay! Thank you!
"Nobody's gonna know" is so relatable haha!
And I must say, the bravery in this episode! I could barely watch you mix everything with the spam 😂
The Spam casserole looks more like CAT VOMIT 🤮😂 I am CRYIN ME A RIVER 😂
Heyyyy JJR ...BIG FAN....I Hope you are safe and doing well...Brandon am a huge fan of yours tooo🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁😁😁🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Love the recipes..😍😍😍😍
I love how he reads the emojis 😂
"we know..." omg recipe cards! My mom collected two sets and gave them to me. One set is even in the same kind of box :D they have some decent recipes in there too. Thanks for the awesome memories :D
Thanks for the video!
Every video gets gooderer!
Omg! I have that recipe box and recipes!
When I lived in hawaii a friend of mine at the time from hawaii made what's called spam musubi I hate seaweed so she'd leave it off one for me and it was actually pretty good. Plus I did grow up with it from my dad he would slice it right out of the can and put a little mustard on it.
HOW THWY GONNA KNOW...you killed it!!! Hahahaha
Thank you!!
In retro recipes that are aimed at a consumer base with a lot of European ancestry, 'green pepper' is green bell pepper unless a kind of pepper is specified. Other kinds are usually there 'for garnish' or 'to taste' or 'optional', less than 3 tbsp for 8 people, and 'chopped very fine'.
That tik tok bit was the best 😂😂👏🏽👏🏽
Not the SPAM! Noooooooooooo!
💗❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎
I’m gagged, literally!
We love Spam here. It's very good fried with eggs on an English muffin and with some cheese and maybe some tabasco or sriracha.
We had that spam casserole when i was a kid but minus the fancy stuff like onions & peppers. When you're raised by a single mom with 2 kids, you make things that are inexpensive. We actually liked it back then!
This made me laugh so much! James dry heaving, hee hee!! Love all the cakes. I feel like you've been doing lots of easier cakes recently, which is great as then non-pros can try them out, but could you do one or two of your fancy cakes that make us all swoon please? Thanks
We are trying to mix it up for sure. We have some bigger stuff coming!!
"It's hard to believe that used to be a cat." LOLOLOLOL!!!!!
That spam recipe somehow reminded me how I like putting cut up dill pickles in my chicken noodle soup. 😂😅
There are a lot of crazy old recipes that makes you think what were they thinking. As for the green pepper most likely they were referring to a green bell pepper to us, life was simple in earlier days not so many fancy peppers back than.
I almost gagged when that soup came out of the can. Cannot imagine eating something that looks like that. And Spam is awesome, my mum used to cut it up and put it in a sandwich not had it in ages though.
can you do a challenge where you make a cake from a drawing from commentators(kids edition).
Oh well, I just started another comment, but that cake is cute. This should help the algorithm even though I am late to the video.
