  • I haven't seen any other videos of the new QuickJack TL models so I am putting together my own since I just bought one. It wasn't cheap to get this model (especially in Canada) but I didn't want to deal with frame extensions (these ones are heavy enough already) so I bought the extended length models. I haven't used the regular SLX model before so can't comment on the height difference, but can show what this one does.

That caster trick is an absolute genius idea! I have the 7000 slx and thats the hardest part of the whole setup moving it around to center it to the lifting points. thank you and great review.

Great video, thanks! As a MaxJax owner, I can say that most times, I do not utilize the full lifting height ~48" of the unit. Most work I do can be done at the height you showed in your video, glad they finally increased it as it was a little too low on the previous models (that's what prevented me from buying them). You are a good presenter and deserve more views, I would consider a lapel mic as it would make the audio clearer.

Thank you for your comments! I hope the MaxJax is working well for you. In my two car garage I felt it would make it too much of a squeeze between the other car. Is the setup/tear down quick?

Really appreciate your video. I've been looking at QuickJacks for a number of years wondering which one would be best for my grey BMW e61. You very clearly answered that question for me. I have placed my order.

Thanks for taking the time to create the video, debating on getting on the old version now that they're going on sale for $1200, theoretically i can just increase the height of the blocks to get the extra 3 inches and save some money...

Just bear in mind that to get blocks under it you actually have to have the space under the vehicle while the wheels are still on the ground. So not necessarily that easy. I paid $3,100 shipped to get mine to Canada and while I could have paid about half that at Costco, I was willing to pay more to get what I wanted.

At 5:21, you possibly can do what I did with my ramps, once you have the car positioned with everything set up, just make some marks on the garage floor with a permanent marker so next time you know exactly where to put the lift. I did this marks in my garage floor for my ramps, it works a treat.

Try using the quick jack the other way around with the white plate facing the engine.

Great video man! How much did you end up paying for shipping? I'm planning on getting one of TL models too but not sure if it'll be worth it after the exchange, duties and shipping (I'm out in Surrey).

All in I paid $3,138 for mine from NAPA. Either there is no duty from them (since purchasing from a Canadian company) or it is not paid directly. Shipping was $600 or something but they dropped it to $450 for me since they felt like that was a lot. I'm in Abbotsford.

You have your jacks backwards... the plate with the label on it goes towards the heavier end of the vehicle. The vehicle should pivot up and towards the engine end... if you had a rear/mid engine vehicle, this would be the correct orientation.

Hi Jonathan. Could you tell me how the maximum dimensions for the rubber blocks in the frame (length and wide)?

I have been looking for a review like this on the newer models thank you. Would you suggest getting the TLX over the TL in order to accommodate as many different cars as possible? Or would most Coupes and sports cars not work with the added length? Thanks

I don’t know that I can answer that since it will depend on your scenario. I imagine the TLX will fit most cars except for some really short wheelbase models. I have used it on a 2009 BMW 535xi wagon, 2001 BMW 325i sedan, and 2004 VW Jetta sedan. I didn’t want to have to lug out heavy extensions each time I use it with my cars so opted for the TLX. I recognize that if I had a really short wheelbase car I would not be able to use it, unless I tried the whole sideways method.

Thanx for doing this video. I need a lift of some sort. I'm debating between this one and MaxJax.

If it helps, here’s how I decided. MaxJax would lift the car too high for my garage and would hit the garage door opener. Also, in my two car garage, having it installed would mean the car doors of our second car would hit it. If not for those two reasons a MaxJax would have been nice. This is really heavy to move around, but quite doable. I need to find a way to store it that I’m really happy with.
