    I have used the 5000 series model now for a number of years, and has become an irreplicable tool in my garage. What I discovered though is that with some larger and heavier model cars, it was time to upgrade!
    The assembly of this series is easy and only takes a few tools, and this will rapidly become something you will wonder how you lived without it.
    Required parts and tools:

    Just received my 7000 bundle and wanted to watch an un-pack and set-up. You made the presentation completely understandable and easy to watch. Thanks for a great video and tutorial. Of course... I'll read the manual first.

    I enjoyed your video. The sealant is so much better than the tape for the reasons you mentioned as long as enough time is allowed for proper curing.
    As a QuickJack owner, perhaps I could offer a useful suggestion or two. My recommendation is for the quick connect fittings to be installed onto the hoses before anything else is done. Install the fittings using the anerobic sealant, then walk away from the project for a day or two.
    What I see is too much fiddling with everything else before the hoses are ready to go. Thanks for listening.

    Interesting your TLX is good enough for all your cars. I was going to finally bite the bullet and get a 7000-TL and telling myself if I ever need more spread I can get their frame extensions. But yeah didn't realise the TLX would still fit my BMW E92 at the moment (probably getting a SUV or pickup for daily in future that's why I want 7000 instead of 5000). Ahh anyways the TLX is out of stock in Canada don't have much of a choice lol. I plan to take good care of my quick jack and hope it lasts 5+ years at least. Can't wait to try it out and I can already see myself say why didn't I buy this before.

      Just triple check your measurements especially if multiple cars. I found the TLX was about 4 inches too short for the new G80s, so changed to the 6000 model. Each model is excellent, just make sure the frames fit all your needs

      @@BMWDIYGuyYeah, I checked my dad's vehicle for fun to give me an idea and I would need the EXT for sure on that one. But holy wow! The new cars have that much of a spread huh? That's unfortunate I guess if ever that comes I'll just get a second one but I'm far from buying new cars lol. Thanks for the info.

    Nice tutorial. G series need the 6000ELX because of the long spread between the factory jack points. Getting mine set up now and waiting for the thread seal to dry. They are really heavy!

    The obvious design oversize ( dangerous) is you have two lift rams independent of each other. One could fail and result in a car literally rolling over to the failed ram side.

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  3 месяца назад

      Not likely as there are several lock points as it lifts. Even if one side failed beyond one of the lock points, it would sink until it hit a lock. This well before any roll over angle.

    I have the TL and I'd say it's ok, but only if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Whatever. Too much time wasted on it already - I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity.
    I still have it in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it. And honestly the setup is inconvenient enough that even when I do pull it out - warts and all - it happens very rarely. Only when I have a longer term project where I know the vehicle will be on the lift for a week or two. Definitely not for things like oil or tire changes. It's just way quicker to use a floor jack, or even ramps.

    These things are just a accident waiting to happen, a jack and some jack stands has been the standard way to lift a vehicle for a reason

    • @MapleMan
      @MapleMan Год назад +4

      Standards change with time, improvements in technology, and advancement in mechanics and product development. Way safer product than outdated jack stands. It’s estimated that approximately 5000 people in the U.S. receive hospital emergency treatment in a single year for jack failure injuries. Haven’t heard of any with this product.

      @@thefoodcan The QuickJacks have 2 different locking locations and heights. They are mechanical locks. It's why there is a bar on the outside of the QJ with the little silver claw. It does not rely on the hydraulic cylinders to hold it in the air once it's lifted to height. It's basically a jack and jack stands in one. Only a fool would get under a car with it if it was only supported by the hydraulics. Also, it provides a much larger area of contact than the traditional V shaped Jack stand heads. With the stiffness of many modern chassis one must lift the car in increments. You have to lift one side up a little and then put a jack stand under it and, then you have to go to the other side and do the same. You have to repeat this process numerous times, going up only a few inches each time. If one were to not pay really good attention one jack stand could end up supporting the weight of the vehicle while the other side is free floating in the air, not even touching the jack stand. The QuickJacks lift the entire vehicle at once, eliminating that danger all while supporting it better. I've worked under jack stands for years and frankly never been all that comfortable knowing how much weight is sitting above me. I've had the opportunity to work under a set of QuickJacks and I can truly say I felt much more comfortable under them. Just trying to shake the car to ensure it's balanced before getting under it, it was apparent that it was much more solid than any jack stands I've ever used. That being said, there is always a risk involved when you suspend several thousand pounds over your head. You can get with the times and have some piece of minds or you can continue with those jack stands. I hope you don't live in earthquake prone areas and I hope those Jack Stands never let you down. It's 2023 and there are safer options!

      No they are not. Stop spreading wrong information. I'm a long jack and stand user and switching to this, it's still very useful and safe if not more safe used propely.
