    You mentioned sheetrock on the garage walls. I used 5/8 plywood with fire block red “silicon” between the boards on the top half of the garage. The options to attach items to the walls really opens up.

    Congrats man! I also have a QJ to work on my F87 and have loved how much clearance it gave me at the highest setting. Use the QJ frequently to keep the O-rings lubricated as they tend to dry up, and you'll small leaks at the joints.. I initially used liquid sealant and let it settle for 2 days but eventually developed a leak also. Ended up using teflon tape and they've been great since (it gets messy when you remove it though). Last, I usually pump the air to 50psi since I lose about 8psi when I disconnect the valve. Last last note is to use jack stands behind the QJs as a safety precaution. Have fun and stay safe!

    Yours is one of the better videos I’ve watched for quickjack. I just wanted to make a couple points. The only reason they switch to the hydraulic thread sealant is because people were using the tape incorrectly. Also, it’s a hydraulic pump unit not a compressor.

    Best Quick Jack tutorial!! Thanks for the detailed instructions. I hate reading all instructions, though I don’t just wing it lol. Only critique is that the connections to the pump. Start the bottom one first and no issues whatsoever with the top one.

    Nice! Used the same jack when I changed the rear diff bushings. Made my life easier... quick tip, when it reaches the lock position, press down for maybe 5-10 secs to depressurize the system. If you disconnect the fittings w/o relieving pressure, you'll have a hard time re-connecting them and may even damage the fittings.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  5 месяцев назад +1

      Appreciate the tip. I’ll be leaving the fittings connected at all times, but I did hold down for quite some time for that reason alone.

  • @hotdusty3000
    @hotdusty3000 5 месяцев назад

    Thanks for the video. If I was using that, I would have a jack positioned in the front and the rear, both lifted up and touching lift positions in the front and the rear. I know that it is very unlikley that the Quick Jack would fail with the locking mechanisms engaged, but I would definitely feel better with the extra jacks in position.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  5 месяцев назад

      I hear ya. Can’t ever be too safe. However the jacks in those positions would limit your ability to work under the car. I’ve seen people put jack stands in the quick jacks as an extra precautionary safety measure. Something I’ll probably do as well.

    Great video! I have been considering the QuickJack for my F80 as well.. I'd love to see an update when you get the low profile blocks (I'm pretty low just like you).. Curious if you will need to still jack up the rear subframe with those blocks.. That would be great if you don't need to.. would really seal the deal for me.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  5 месяцев назад

      The jacks slide under just barely with no blocks. But once I get the medium ones in there, it hits. I think the lower profile ones will be the ticket.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 месяца назад +1

      Too impractical for my garage. It would have been a more permanent setup where this is portable and can be moved out of the way when not needed. I’d you have the space for a scissor, I say go for it. Otherwise, the QJ is the best option for me.

    • @jvh22a
      @jvh22a 4 месяца назад

      @@Scoobyfreak86 I'm limited on height more then anything. I'm just scared of the qj just from the looks. Do you feel it has any side to side movements? I'm afraid it might move slide to one side and tip over. I need to pull my transmission a few time for test fitting and afraid of of it tipping over.
      I like that I can move qj out the way and the scissor lift has a big bar in the middle right where the transmission would be.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 месяца назад

      @jvh22a it’s extremely sturdy. I have no concern of it moving or sliding. Not anymore dangerous than putting a car on jack stands. QJ has a connection bar that you can purchase separately as well if you are concerned.
