Today we are going to have some fun looking at the misfortune of two poor souls who were kind enough to share their stories with me. Within just months of owning a ford lightning, they were cursed with an accident!
One was some body damage and the other involved battery failure.
So today we will look at both of these so you can learn just how much it will cost to do a repair on a Ford F-150 Lightning. And hopefully, by the end of this video, you will be able to avoid any of these signs of a lightning that might be failing.
    Let's dive in!
(For real though thanks to the two brave souls who shared their story with me)

I feel his pain, I was rear-ended at the end of October in my Lightning less than two weeks after I got it. To say I was pissed, is an understatement. And because it was a crossover that hit me and the driver attempted to avoid the collision last minute, it damaged the drivers side bedside, instead of just the tailgate and bumper paint. So it's pricey. Still haven't been able to find a shop that can fix it for the next two months. But I was able to source a replacement taillight and get it programmed. So otherwise it's drivable for now, but it still sucks.

Any word on any 2023 F-150 lightnings being delivered yet? I'm wondering about the Pro getting heated seats or any other surprise changes.

and you know one of he worst things.. the insurance will only give you a rental car for a limited time or cost. no matter how long it takes, they don't give you a rental for the whole time for the repair.

Mom had her 2005 Prius (now my Prius lol) rear ended lightly in 2009. The total billing for everything was $2800. That's was over a decade ago on a Prius. These numbers don't surprise me at all.

Number one rule in auto body repair do not go to the dealer they do not care. If you drive around the dealership and look at all the car sitting out there waiting for parts or wk
here is the reason why they get money for storage so long as your car sits there they charge your insurance money and you use up your rental budget they asked me straight up what’s your rental coverage I told him $1000 oh awesome we’re in no rush then I said yes you are that’s my work truck this is a rental truck big difference shitty Dodge versus awesome 2021 F150 with my awesome upgraded JL audio 800 W system not wanting to dodge for two months thank you very much not one not two but three dealerships same thing one even offered to take my keys put me in a rental car that is. And wouldn’t tell me the timeline they were going to keep my truck hostage. Happy ending to the story went to a local autobody mechanic mechanic shop they record reputable they work on classic cars and foreign had my parts within a half an hour had my truck back to me within 11 days dealership ford dealerships said 3 to 5 weeks because they get paid for storage him being a small shop cannot do that needs them in and out for the space
Dealers just line them up outside one I went to didn’t even have a painter but yet still told me 3 to 4 weeks they were like 25 cars outside they will take your car and not give a damn about you or your life or your problems or your money

My wife and I got hit in our 2019 Kia Niro EV on New Years Eve last year. We were in a rental car for six months! Estimate went from about 8k up to 13k! It didn’t look any worse than the Lightning you’re showing. The car only had 3k miles on it.
We are considering buying it out at the end of the lease but worried about the actual resale now because of the accident

Not really the same thing, but I got my 22 Lightning Lariat on the 16th of September, and front camera was broken, I've been trying to find out if an f-150 camera would work, but we have been waiting on the Lightning one this whole time.
Idk when I will get it.

Why don't you look up the part number for each of them. If they are the same, its the same part.

@Jake Charles I tried on the Ford website but if I put vin in it comes up as "null null null" and shows parts for all vehicles. I think the dealership only was able to get the part by taking to Ford directly. Besides, since we noticed the camera within the window before I bought it the only way to get Ford to pay is to go through their system apparently 🤷‍♂️. It's not a huge rush to me, I've never had a front camera before and I always back in, it's mainly an issue when going through tight drive-thrus.
But as long as it gets fixed eventually.

I had a 2016 Duramax Colorado. It wound up having a wiring harness issue (super common issue now). I had one of the first 100 or so of these trucks. I think I wound up a pre-production, released as a production model. It was a total lemon. At about 20k miles I had the wiring harness issue. I was basically the first to have the issue with the truck due to my mileage, towing, etc. So between the engineers they sent out and the techs, they thought it was a good idea to pull the body off the chassis. In doing so, they had to disconnect my turbo downpipe. In total they had my truck for 43 days. They had to get gaskets express shipped from Thailand where they build the engines just so they could put the turbo back on. I had to wait on other parts that they actually had to go pull off an assembly line and boxed up in a random box and shipped to us. When a vehicle is super new, the OEMs don't have enough parts to fulfill the vehicles they are building. That bracket is probably coming from the assembly plant. That is going to cost Ford an entire truck they can't build until that gets replenished by their supplier. My issue was a few years before covid. My friend used to make parts for Dodge trucks and when they launched the new body style, they had people working day, night, weekends and still couldn't hit the numbers they needed. They had to wait on parts (pre-pandemic). So this isn't a new thing because of current supply chain issues, this is kind of how the industry works. They need to keep everything nearline because they don't have the space to store the parts which sit on your books until you can zero it out when you sell a vehicle. The less inventory they keep, the less assets they have in play at any given time.
