- So the 1991 Audi 200 Quattro Avant 20V Turbo is FINALLY READY for delivery to the excited customer!!
Can it make it 4 HOURS on the highway without breaking down??
I take it on one more shake-down run and it almost leaves me and the wife STRANDED 3 miles from the house!! That's not very promising...
This Audi does NOT want to leave my shop!!
Customer cannot reschedule the pick-up date so there is no option...the Audi MUST get back on the road ASAP!
Enjoy!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Ivan - Авто/Мото
Seasons greetings from Bavaria, Germany, original home of the Audi. I loved to follow this monumental restoration series all through Christmas. What a project! She threw almost every possible curve ball at you and you dodged every single one of them. Keep up the good work and have a very happy new year, Ivan. Can’t wait for the next episodes to come up.
Merry Christmas, I'm from the UK, I love Audi, I've got one myself A4 Convertible, what a cruiser, vorsprung durch technik!!!
Ich war in dem Bayern geboren! US Army brat!
This Audi will go down in the hall of fame for the channel‼️💯🙌🏽
I have never seen Ivan have one single car with so many different challenges. As always, the Russian Automotive Genius was victorious.
Watch the Cubans fixing pre 1956 American vehicles (Cuban Chrome I think it is called.)they will amaze you working with primative tools as well.
A 32 year old vehicle is new again. Thank you Ivan for an incredible series. Loved it.
And what a 32 years old vehicle! Couldn't be more intricate and interesting!
Definitely nowhere near new. The owner is going to have problems with this thing until they do an actual complete teardown and rebuild.
Best series yet.
I suspect many new modern car parts replacements would cost more than Ivans bill. Love that car..
Between rodents, 15 years sitting in the woods and the resultant moisture and corrosion this vehicle will have problems until it mercifully goes to the crusher.
My favorite Ivan series of all time. The smile on the owner face was the best part.
Having a customer base like that would be the sweetest thing i could think of having.. doing what you have a passion for out of your own property, working your own hours, with the ability to be able to tinker to get things fixed, while learning new things plus making a good extra income from recording your endeavors.. the fact that people actually put their trust into a person by leaving their cars with him, and ivan not ever having to find work because everything randomly gets dropped at his doorstep.. and your project cars to work on in between other critical customer issues.. it takes a lot more than a mechanic to be able to communicate with customers, juggle your work/ schedule, find the parts for the best price to turn a profit, maintain the shop and consumables yourself while keeping the better half happy in the abode along with kids and whatnot..
an honest competent mechanic will always have work, and he is a couple steps above that
The v belt situation gets more interesting with old italian cars. Dailying an Lancia Thema, which also throws the alternator belt every 5000 miles. But the alternator belt also drives the waterpump, so if not caught in time the engine will be toast.
Yup same on my Mazda van 😅
FYI, v-belts with notches slip a lot easier than solid belts. The reason is a v-belt bulges as it wraps around the pulley and grabs the sides of the vee. If you put notches in the belt it keeps the sides from bulging and you reduce friction. Notched belts save energy at the expense of ability to transfer torque.
Merry Christmas Ivan! Thanks for the amazing series. I was honestly questioning this effort but once I saw the look on the owners face during the test drive, it all became clear to me. Well done.
Congratulations Ivan you got all 12 days in!!! lol What a project. I am glad you got it on the road again but I cringe thinking about how much money it took for parts and labor. Yikes. Great series and case study for us to follow along with. Thank you
Ide say 6k pahts and laba
This type of resto there isn’t a budget or cost that really comes into play. The owner wanted this specific car to be drivable and there wasn’t anything that would stop him from getting it. He clearly has the money and didn’t really care what it cost. It was just the principle of having the car to add to his collection
A labor of love this was ... if money ever becomes no object, Id probably track one down and have it restored. Used to have a 1988 90 Quattro (non turbo 5 cyl) and it was a fantastic car. The Quattro with Torsen center differential is phenomenal in the snow, it's geared very well for going up and down mountain roads, and even the non turbo motors make surprising power & torque once you wind them up. With a turbo ... a freakin rocket 🚀
@@karleck1119That probably doesn't even cover the brake job(s). I'll say 20k$
@rkan2 oh those dang rotors forgot them. Car is only worth maybe 12k lowest On market
Thanks for yet another great Holiday treat Ivan! What a unique car, great to see that the owner decided to save it. A 5 cyl. turbo 3 pedal 5 speed, and a ABS bypass switch. It had to be saved! Nice job Ivan. 👍👍🇺🇸
I had an extremly rare 3cyl Diahatsu Charade only two that I knew of at the time I desperately wanted to save it I went all over my country then South Africa & Japan (where they were made) & could not get one part I tried to get it repaired no luck I tried to get it recarsted no luck Iput out feelersin just about all the countries that sold them no so I had to get rid of it.(I almost cried that day.)
@@LesReeves A 3 cylinder Charade? Really? I drove a silver one of those here in Australia Les! It was a work vehicle! It was originally kinda the 'spare' vehicle of the fleet, for when one of our guys' regular vehicles was off the road getting serviced etc.
Because of that, it was quite unloved, uncared for, & pretty dirty, as it a was no one's responsibility.
My first few days on the job had me getting there by bus & train, & learning 'the ropes'. One of the guys drove me from site to site to learn what was what.
After that, the boss needed me to work at various clubs & pubs by myself, so I was given the little Charade 'provisionally' just to get the work done for that day.
I completed the jobs they'd given me, & the boss told me to take the car home & bring it back the next day
So the first thing I did when I got home that day was give the car a complete clean up & wash. I cleaned the windows, emptied out the accumulated empty fast food containers & rubbish, vacuumed the floor & blackened the tyres.
It looked much nicer now! Next day I pulled up & parked it in the car park at the office/workshop along with all the other work cars, & said nothing more about it.
The cleanup job I did on it must have made an impression as nearly all the guys made a positive, encouraging comment about it, & the boss told me to just hang onto it & use it every day from then on! I was given a petrol card for fuel & oil, & so it was 'my' vehicle for quite a few months after that.
It never missed a beat in all the time I had it, & drove very well. The automatic gear changes were smooth & not jerky, which was unusual for 4 cylinder cars back then- let alone a 3 cylinder car!
But yeah, interesting that they became so rare, & sad that you had to ditch it for lack of parts. The one I had was a really good little car!
Awesome series Ivan !!! If Nick is serious about keeping the Audi long term he should buy the house next door to you. 😁 Merry Christmas to you and your lovely wife.
And I bet this car makes a reappearance in 2024
Now wait, northwestern Jersey has lots of hills and spirited driving areas! Nick is one happy customer!
On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me
A abandoned audi that been sitting under a pine tree. Merry Christmas Ivan you have more patients than I have anymore !
Great series! An old Audi like that is the gift that keeps on giving! The only other thing I would have done would be a timing belt. That thing has to be quite old and will leave the owner on the shoe leather express when it breaks, if it doesn't kill the valves.
Yeah, how many years sitting outside?? I would be very suspicious of timing belt . Not sure if it's an interference engine. A ticking time bomb
This was a fun series for us to watch. Thanks Ivan and Merry Christmas
glad that audi is finished and good to hear it preformed amazingly! Keep up the awesome work
Having a cool customer always makes the job so much better. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Ivan.
At first i was like holy crap, everything on this car is broken, no wonder it was abandoned in a forest for 15 years, just let it go.
However, seeing the smile on the dude's face was priceless. I hope he enjoys it for a long time.
Great job Ivan 👍
I have a 1988 Audi 4 Banger drive with V -belts 100,000 miles. No problem. I guess it has to do with the climate. We have no rust on the 40-year-old cars.
Holy crap! That corn looks good for this time of year! 🤣🤣
I believe I can understand your relief as the Audi pulled away from your driveway. Enough already. Very enjoyable to watch you figure things out.
Great job Ivan.Your holiday specials are awesome. Thanks
Nick - Thank you for the no-holds-barred Christmas special! Looking forward to your next project!

Hi Ivan, this has been the best series yet.
Back to old school diagnosing.
Loved these videos.
Great work.
Thank you, Ivan. That was an amazing series with all the highs and the lows of resurrecting an abandoned, long forgotten gem of a car. Well done! I remember one of my old employers had a 90 Audi 5000 2.3L - I5 - 5 speed manual. It was a blast to drive. But not very well known for reliability. Hopefully he will get many years of enjoyment out of his. Merry Christmas Ivan.
Congrats Ivan you got her running and the customer seems very happy. Great job and video series.
IVAN, fun series to watch really enjoyed it thanks for taking the time to show all ups and downs to make this car road worthy merry xrsmas from Ontario, CANADA.

Just loved this series. I hope that you and your family have a great Christmas.
Awesome series! Enjoyed every moment.
Great job Ivan. I really loved this series. Almost sade that its
ending 😀
Merry christmas to you and wifee.
I have successfully installed aftermarket seat heater pads and hooked them up to the OEM wiring in a few different vehicles, this would probably be a way cheaper solution than replacing the whole seat.
That seat looked lumpy and mangled.
Fantastic job and vids Ivan, I also think a big shout out and praise to the owner who spared no expense to get this car back on the road again, he is a true aficionado of classic cars of the past. Kudos to you both.
Hope the new year bring good cheer and more wonderful videos.
Regards from South Africa
Merry Christmas Ivan , Ive learned alot from you over the years!
That was one happy car owner. Epic job well done Ivan.
Ivan your patience and attention to details is truly impressive Well done!
Ivan Thank you for the series! you are one of the most creative and logical diagnostician on top of a stubborn mechanic, this series highlights it all.
Great series of the repairs. Enjoyed watching them with coffee every morning. Have a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
That generation of audi built to last...no modules that need special codes etc...fixable with a bent screwdriver and a hammer with a 4 inch bounce...
Cheers Ivan enjoyed that....
Absolutely phenomenal series and grand finale!!!!!! Watched it all and was left wanting more 🤣👍. Thanks for all the effort you put out for these vijayos.
Awesome videos!!! That thing was a mess when you got it... Great work Ivan!!
Nice, two episodes in one day! The smile on his face says it all. Great job Ivan!
Merry Christmas, to you and yours Ivan.

Excellent series, I enjoyed it. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas great job on the resto
Thank you Ivan, you are the only one i watch, Merry Christmas to you & your family 👍
Merry Christmas Ivan. This is a great video series of how details there are to bring an older car that has been sitting for a wile back to as reliable as possible. If we drive them things wear out. If we park them things...well lust like this video much work is needed to bring thing back. Keep up the great videos.
Merry Christmas Ivan!
What a Awesome Series!
Thank You for taking the time to share!

Great special Ivan, congrats on getting that old Audi back on the road, you deserve a good drink after how much this car put ya through.
P.S. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Merry christmas and thank you for sharing that journey with us Ivan.....
Excellent work from Pine Hollow as always. Loved the Audi 200 restoration series
This is without a doubt one of the most interesting projects for the year. It could be a training document series! The fact that Ivan was able to identify the troubles and fix them along the way is simply amazing! Thank you Ivan! I hope this brought you some good old money! Well done and thank you for sharing! Merry Christmas!
merry xmas from Sydney Australia love this channel
Oh man that was good, my father had that Audi. Great work on restoring it, I really enjoyed watching. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
This was an insane series - given all the turds that get dumped on you Ivan I'm not sure where you found time for this but it was an epic series. Thank you for providing such quality entertainment over Christmas for us. Hard to imagine topping this! This was even more crazy than that W124 Merc you had with the bad ignition wiring.
I have to say while its very impressive you were able to get this in a driveable serviceable condition I think if the owner wants to go cross country on it like he does in his Merc it would need a far more comprehensive restoration, rust treatment and probably re-wiring and maybe even a modern engine management system. I do remember a time in my childhood when these were not an entirely uncommon sight on the road in England and these days they are the least common from that era, I just don't remember seeing one in the last 15 years. I do sometimes see old Mercs that are still daily drivers and even the very occasional old BMW that is probably still a daily. My uncle had an old D-reg E28 528i up until 2018 (you should have seen how hacked up the wiring was in that thing...).
Dare I ask what is for the New Years special this year?
Brill series Ivan. Merry xmas and a Happy New Year
Big compliments to the owner of the Audi; he must be a real ‘connaisseur’!
Best video ever!!! Merry Christmas to you and your wife!!
