    This popped up in my feed and I clicked it because I'm below a novice at soldering and it would do me some good to watch someone with experience.
    Even as a novice repairing electronics, at least I've never considered taking an angle grinder to a pcb!
    Great explanation on why you charge what you do. You don't charge for your time, you charge for your experience and skills.

  • @smakfu1375
    @smakfu1375 5 месяцев назад +23

    I don’t understand why people do things like this. On what planet do you take a dremel and burn off the board down to the ground plane?! I know a lot about electronics (especially the digital EE side), but I have to go slow and work carefully because, unlike Alex, I don’t do this professionally day-in and day-out. It’s impressive how much SMT skill is on display, but when he reworks a pad or lays down a bodge trace, he knows by sight and repetition exactly how to do it. I have to go and watch a video for reference to ensure I don’t do something stupid, and even then I still make dumb mistakes (I’ve lifted-off more pads than a helicopter pilot). Take the time to do it as carefully as possible, and make sure you have the right tools and parts - then you won’t have to see your borked up attempt getting roasted by Alex and the comments section.

    9:23 he is saying the right thing, you don't pay the price of repair, you pay the price for the experience, bcz he has so many years of experience, he can repair these consoles in 10 mins which other repair shop takes hours to do. In any business, time is money, the time you invested in your early days will return you with a lot of money later.

      Another smaller thing to consider is the cost of the equipment, tools, and supplies. It may have only taken me 5 minutes to fix your stuff, but I needed tools and equipment that cost over $2,000.

    We had a Series X come in for HDMI. A previous repair shop worked on it and it was like a tornado ripped through. 16 out of the 19 pads were ripped off. There were new wires placed wayyyyy longer than needed and too short in places. We told the customer we are not doing this repair and advised the customer to go to the original repair shot to have them deal with their mess.
