Alex has one hell of a business model. First he supplies the necessary tools to amateurs, who then mess it up, and have to pay Alex to fix their mistakes. 😁
selling the tools of the trade is only common sense when one is showcasing skills. Alex sells his skills but will let you try it first.... I imagine some succeed.
I think people watch your video and say easy I can handle it just like Alex did. And when they mess things they send it to you. With your experience and tools, it looks like an easy job on the screen.
@Michaels Carport I had same problem, I was using low quality solder wire. After buying good solder wire+good flux and wicks, thing started to go very smoothly. It's also importat to add some low melt solder wire to the area first. Then Wicking becomes one of the most satisfaying job ever:D. There is Solder wire with 350c melting point and probably they are used in motherboards. Because they are more resistant to heat. That's why adding Low melt solder helps alot. Alex does it always.
this is a good business move. show it on youtube and repairs it like easy (which is not), they do it and f it up. send it to Northridge for a professional fix and cha ching 😃
@Michaels Carport No problem, When I saw your comment, I was thinking it's me six months ago😄. I'm using Stannol leaded solder wire with Weller Flux and wick.
I'd argue if you actually watch a lot of his repairs and properly listen to what he says, you can do it correctly after messing up a couple of times. I personally practiced on a couple of Raspberry Pi's until I got it right.
Every cent this business earns is well deserved. They make people happy, save them money, inspire others, and keep stuff out of landfills. Who could ask for more?
I do like this channel a lot. Been watching for the past couple of years. Extremly skilled, yet humble enough to admit errors, and his sense of humour does make it more enjoyable to listen & watch. Alex is very confident but sincere, and he shares tips and ideas freely so he's also generous. Very professional and I wish to see more like him. You deserve every success and praise. Well done!
I think the You tube tutorials it si a great Tool for tech. Specialized. Not for amateurs. That is what happens when You try to do what people have a Lot of years doing it.
Really have great respect for the patience and expert skills displayed here. Restoring what appears to be non-fixable, especially after less skilled repairmen have made a total mess of it, is truly amazing!
my friend thank you so much the mercedes key worked ,,im the gentlemen who drove from san bernardino the other day i knew u were the one for the job ,great service and super friendly ,thank you
2 years of watching and learning so i can fix my xbox from 2019 🤣 the battle has not yet ended but i got far enough and the power buton works🤗 after i came back from the hospital i ended the battle confirming my defeat after electricity went through my body. all and all the chanel is awesome and i salute you✊ keep it up
Alex, you should consider adding a clause to the service agreement saying there will be a fee for any device previously repaired by someone else. It might save you some hassle.
I have been fixing computers for 10 years and I finally gave in to a customer and did a PS5 hdmi. I was successful but will never do another one. People are failing because it is a super difficult repair. It was a huge PIA to get the original connector off and super difficult to get the tiny pins all connected. Not to mention the filter capacitor. I am lucky i didn't have to mess with broken traces or the diode and cap on the back.
Alex, the UV joke never gets old 🙂 - I was hoping that Linus picked up on your reaction video to his attempt to fix that connector, but sadly no ! - Keep up the good work, and making these videos. Makes a change form Asus laptops 🙂
I put sun block, don't want UV rays burning my retinas. Also turn on the fume extractor, don't want Alex's mother calling me asking why am I putting myself in danger.
i dont understand how people screw up the repair this bad wen your videos show them exactly how to do the repair and wat it should look like. i used your videos and so far 19 PS5's later none of them have had issues.
As an individual that used to do repairs when I was a lot younger it is fun to watch other people and see how they interpret things I appreciate this more than you realize you have made me a faithful Fan..
It seems like a blessing and curse having RUclips University available to everyone. As you said, it used to be 1 or 2 out of 10 with customer attempted repairs. Now you are seeing 8 out of 10. This has to be form the modern age of information available to everyone. While it's an amazing service you and others provide, it must be a bit frustrating to see the half arsed works.
So you become a pillar to rely on. A safety net and life saver. No matter how bad we mess up, we know who to run to crying for help. You can take this as a compliment. People need you! Keep up the good work!
I got inspired to get back in to soldering from your videos, tried repairing an ipod 30pin cable, was successful initially but then one of the pins broke out while I was testing the cable because I didn't give it any strain relief, tried a few more times and sacrificed the data cables to use as power and the same kept happening, I swear they made those adapters to not be repairable, that being said I know it's incredibly tedious to repair a cable plug so small but I still tried (and failed) but it makes me appreciate how good you are at your job I am no longer able to focus on such small things and my hands shake significantly which I can't seem to calm so I think I'll just leave it to the experts, microsoldering :D haha
I mean... 1) people watch your videos 2) when something breaks they are motivated to try and fix it themselves 3) they start it 4) they realise they dont have the necessary equipement to do it 5) they send it to you 6) the cycle repeats 🤣🤣 Keep up the good work
You are so skilled ‼️ It is amazing. I personaly can solder many things but ending in sites on something like 2 decimals bigger of soldering surface than you. I have never seen such a skilled professional.
Magnificent repair Alex! Your workload is frightening! If only you could acquire a good, experienced technician! I salute your commitment to providing a first class service to customers.
Just subscribed after seeing tht switch repair i had tha same exact problem so i retired that switch n got a new 1🙏🏽 im learning so much watching you Great 💪🏾work 👍🏽
I really enjoy your videos. Your clean working is not only satisfying but also teaching a lot, both technical and real life stuff. Thanks for making these videos.
Alex, your soldering skills are amazing, so precise, you have golden hands which do this robotic soldering !!! Good job as always! Keep on and may God always be with you ❤️
I learn so much from this friend just watching his videos. unfortunalety, here in Portugal, they dont give a lot of credit in electronic repairs. That's why it is very dificult for me to get the tools that i really want. In time, i have bought a lot from my own pocket and i must one of the very few that do micro soldering in Portugal. I am in the wrong country, i guess. :) Thanks Alex, for your time and your know How.
Yeah, as already mentioned it might be worth having a statement about prior repair attempts. It should really cost more when you have to fix someone else's mess. You do an excellent job showing how you do it and then the customer thinks they can do it. Learning is great, but they have to practice first before a connector attempt!
It's 2:30 AM in morning here in India and before sleeping i watch your videos. 😀 Love the way the flux flows the solder on the pads. You must also show the new viewers how minute the components are compared to what they see in the video. All the best and pray that your business grows even more in global market. Send some Alex and big boss in India too so that we can send devices for better than factory repairs
to be fair you're probably one of the best repair shops in the world and secondly it's so great seeing some of those consoles/gpus/random hardware, so abused, finally getting a shop that doesn't destroy it more than fix it. it's great content, and you are really good at fixing things
Top Job Alex.. very nice to see your videos. spacialy the ones where it doesn't always works out. you can learn a lot from these episodes in your daily routine
I think the channel gives alot of people confidence in repairing items. Thats probably why you see more botched repairs coming in. Not saying your not good. You just make it look easy :)
i love the way you work bro, meticulous and detailed like i would dop, still learning, some college mostly self taught but my issue is getting the money for all the tools needed, ya NEED the right tools to do IT right.
I enjoy how blunt you are with the commentary. You basically go “Hello, today we will be fixing some shit that someone else screwed up and won’t admit to so now I have to do it.”
Espetacular seu trabalho, se eu estivesse aí perto iria te dar uma ajuda enquanto o big boss estiver fora! Pena que estou a milhas e milhas de distancia!! Ótimo trabalho
Truly loving your videos. I'm so happy I came across your channel when I was searching for something about my Razer laptop. My whole family watches your videos now lol.
Awesome videos, I'm learning so much from watching you. I screwed up an HDMI conversion on a gamecube that I'm now trying to troubleshoot/repair..... that is what led me to find your channel and subscribe to it.
Amazing work. Looks like a mess when you first show the connector, but you saved this ps5. Great. Thank you for the video and this little "preview" of what you have to fix next. Greets

I'm watching this channel since 2018. As far as i can say is Alex is a good and humble person..
A true master craftsman at work
A lot of videos make this type of work look easy, not very many people talk about how much practice it takes to do it properly.
Well done!
You make it look so easy, so everyone thinks they can do it them self...
Yup. Definitely need to practice on something broken or disposable/inexpensive to get the feel for things.

you mean messed up by someone else? ;)
They already have a no fix charge. There is no downside to taking the product in and giving it a go, customer pays, may as well give them a chance.
That's also a double edged sword, because he could also lose Business that way too.
Job rate for repair $100/hr
If you watch $120/hr
If you help$150/hr
If you tried to fix it first $200/hr

Linus has his head up his own ass, not easy to see anything from that position...
Oh Linus saw it but is too proud to admit it.
I put sun block, don't want UV rays burning my retinas. Also turn on the fume extractor, don't want Alex's mother calling me asking why am I putting myself in danger.
Alex is losing a sales opportunity. Think of the UV glasses and fume extractors etc. you could sell to those viewers.

Probably from falling off tables or people trip on the HDMI cable
bad design form the start, planned obsolescence, that connector should have been on a separate small board with a flex cable to the main board.
