    Thanks for another competent comparison. The feeling for competitive approach with R5 is a personal perception probably. From what I know there is the option to use the Ras1ution 2 adapter for using Moza on PlayStation and Switch. For the Xbox it was working but currently seems to have some issue. It adds quite some costs, but in comparison to other licensed direct drive bases (namely GT DD Pro) it is probably still ok. I haven’t personally tested this kind of adapter (hinthint), but still wanted to mention that there are ways.
    But as you say: For entering this world of sim driving/racing, a 2nd hand Logitech is a viable option. You will be able to flip it afterwards, and get a big share of your money back. This way you can either exit the topic or upgrade to something different. (For me it was the latter.)

      Thank you my friend. And I am sure it is personal. Most of my reviews are just based on how I experience it which is not necessarily how the majority feels it :D And yessssss... I know... I really need to order that but I still have so many things to order 😭

    After trying a few direct drive wheelbases, I couldn't make up my mind and I bought the G923 on Black Friday for less than 200€ to use on my PC. It's a great introduction to sim racing and provides a good value at this price point. It does feel like a toy but I can hook it up to my desk in seconds without worrying about my monitors shaking around when I play. Now I can take my time to see what I need for a better experience and so far, it would definitely be a nicer seating solution instead of a better wheelbase, surprisingly! If I get hooked into the hobby I will definitely upgrade to a 12+ Nm direct drive wheel base but that's also at least 5 times the budget of the G923, and a cockpit with better pedals seem to be a better upgrade path so far. Moza R5 felt like a decent upgrade but it was already 3 times more expensive than Logitech and I would need an upgrade later on anyway. I would feel bad spending more and not be 100% happy with the experience. Also the resale possibility seems to be in favor of Logitech thanks to its console compatibility and the brand.

      @SimulatedDrivingResource  8 месяцев назад +3

      It is the sensible choice you made. For a seat, you can consider a second hand playseat Challenge. They can be had for a good price. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    It’s still mind boggling to me that the R5 is considered entry level by most. I’m new to DD wheels but the R5, to me at least, sounds more at home in the lower mid range. Unless DD become the standard for entry level equipment.
    Granted, the R5 doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the higher end Moza wheelbases, but I feel like the new R3 would be a much fairer comparison for the G923, as they both have console compatibility and their torque numbers are closer to each other. Moza’s price point for the R3 also makes me think that the G923 would have slightly more wiggle room to shine.
    In all, the presentation was good and it was a good watch. Definitely gives you stuff to think about both models.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  7 месяцев назад

      In all fairness, its a bit of both. The CSL DD 5 is also considered starter while the CSL DD 8 is considered mid. With the 5.5Nm, the MOZA falls a bit between both but from your POV, I can understand the remark. And yes, the R3 would compare better to the Logitech, but when I read message boards and Facebook, the majority of people changed from Logitech to the R5 and I thought I just made a video about that (and I dont have the R3 so that made it easy too:)). And thank you for the compliment. Much appreciated 💙

      So many people complain about the price of a dd system, and yet they spend money on iphones, starbucks, partying, netflix and a new xbox game every other month. Here is the thing. If it's a hobby and if you're a sim racer buy a direct drive and go straight to something in the 10nm range or above with load cell pedals. Save up if necessary but everything else is a waste of money. If you're a gamer who plays arcade titles like gran tourismo and forza, buy the G29 or some other toy, it makes eventually no difference.

    ik ben te lui om het in het engels te typen want je bent nederlands haha. ik ben dus aan het kijken over te stappen van de g29 naar een volledig moza ecosysteem. ik had de r12 voor ogen maar uhh... 2.4 nm is al zo sterk? pfoeh...
    kan ik om een snel adviesje vragen misschien? het enige wat ik ermee ga spelen zijn euro truck en american truck simulator met dat moza stuur. emergency stop switch komt er sws. welke wheel base kan ik het beste halen?

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  4 месяца назад +2

      Truck simulator heeft an sich geen enorme force feedback nodig. Als je karting simulators of nascar rijdt is iets anders. Met het standaard kleine stuurwiel van MOZA is de 5.5Nm van de R5 al genoeg maar als je ooit beslist dat enorme MOZA truckwiel aan te schaffen zou ik voor iets hoger gaan. R9 zou dit wel moeten kunnen trekken. In het algemeen raad ik een kracht tussen 8 en 10Nm aan als upgrade van een Starterbase zoals de G29. 12 is zeker OK, maar imo overkill voor jouw doeleinden. Je krijgt detail en kracht genoeg met lager ook.

      Eventjes ter verduidelijking voor mezelf... De g29 heeft dus 2.4 nm? Dus de r9 is dus meer dan 3* zo sterk? Is dat hoe dat werkt?

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  4 месяца назад +2

      @@gerwinklop9486 klopt, theoretisch gezien kan de motor in de R9 3x zoveel kracht genereren als de g29. In de praktijk ga je dit echter niet (altijd) voelen. Meeste mensen gebruiken niet de volledige kracht van de wheelbase constant. Het verschil wordt gewoon duidelijk als je bvb op een oneffen weg rijdt. Terwijl de g29 je bij elke bobbel en put even 2.3Nm kan laten voelen, kan je met meer vermogen ook een groter verschil voelen. Je hebt gewoon een veel grotere schaal van details waardoor het rijden dus "echter" voelt.

    I'm afraid the 923 is in a very different class from the Moza R5. The R5 is way above the 923 in every way. Every sim racer will tell you that, not just me. You have to use the R5 to understand that. I had a G29 and the move up to the R5 was night and day period!

      Depends on the platform and if it is your first wheel. If it is your first wheel I recommend looking at your second hand sites for a Thrustmaster T300 or Logitech G923. Pay as little as possible for your first wheelbase and play with it for a couple of months. At that moment it will become clear what qualities you need in a wheelbase (power, comfort, diameter steering wheel, smoothness ride). If you then have the need to change, you will be able to sell your wheelbase at about the Same price you bought it second hand and invest in something that suits your requirements better.

For a normal direct drive for example, you will feel things like lateral force, kerbs, imperfections in the road but for example you will not feel the revving of the engine or when you shift gears.
