** Retrospective Video Notes ** 1) at 03:20 I mentioned there's more choice of steering wheels with R9 and above. All V2 wheels (and there's plenty of choice) are compatible with the R5 base, albeit, FFB quality may be impacted if the wheel is heavier. Used to not be the case, all good now. 2) Jimmy Broadbent saying he dials down his FFB to 3 or 4nm of torque ...there's a general assumption it's a tad higher.
Bro finally someone that gets it. All these people having there NM all the way up and never actually driving a car in real life swearing up and down there settings are realistic. I drive a e39 m5 and tuned my wheel for ever until I got it feeling like it would in real life. Now it feels spot on.
@MAᲽTER firstly, good work nabbing "@MASTER" 😎 Yah, last event I was at, had a go on an ACC rig and my thumbs were in pain after 3 laps, totally unnecessary 🙃
I think that alot of pro sim racers have the torque turned all the way up to compensate for a lack of feeling in the seat, which you would have in an actual car. Basically they are trying to get all the information about the car and the track surface through the wheel. It is still hilarious how out of touch some of those people are
literally. I have never driven a car where I needed more than two fingers to steer. Even my first wheel, G27, was strong enough to make me use more than two fingers. It’s all about detail and accuracy. I don’t understand the whole obsession with torque.
The Moza R5 is the best wheelbase or bundle you can have today! The quality is amazing-I've had it for 6 months with zero problems. The SRP-Lite pedals are the only thing that isn't great, but with some modifications, you can solve that!
@tnwmlhhh The pedals that come with the Moza R5 Bundle are the lite version of the Moza pedals. The issue is the "soft" feeling and resistance they have (for my taste). They require modifications to function decently well. In my case, I use 3DRAP Mods for the accelerator and the brake. This translates to a better performance in terms of feel. Obviously, the bundle pedals work perfectly to enjoy sim racing, but one always wants more!
I just bought the R5 bundle and made the mistake of buying the regular SRP pedals, not the SRP ***LITE*** pedals it made me pretty frustrated when I found out there is a software lockout for the SRP clutch with the SRP lite pedals. That was a major issue for me as I don't want to spend $60 Canadian plus $49 shipping from moza since no where seems to carry the lite clutch. Biggest scam imo because the clutch connects perfectly to the srp lite pedals 😂
@@fernandoalcayaga8341 moza do the brake pedal spring mods too. I too have just installed the throttle mod from 3drap for my SRP pedals and it does really help improve the feel of the throttle. I dont know why Moza dont do their own throttle mod.
Thanx for your review! I just purchased the R5 yesterday aaaaaaand , its way bettter than my G920 in every way, I modded my G920 to the max and ive loved it, I have a shoulder injury so the heavy Nm wheels are no fun at all, the moza has a lot more power so feeling it, now to dial down the vives and find the sweet spot, thanx again reading through the comments Ive learned a lot about different opinions on same gear, so as usual , Just use what you like and have fun
Thanks for a no-nonsense review and retrospective. This type of commentary is exactly what i was looking for. I also wish my wife had smaller hands as well! Good on ya!
Fantastic long term update! These are honestly more important than day 1 review videos, especially for buyers. Whether a product is good or not really depends on if it's built well enough to last! I also ran a G27 for years and then upgraded to the R5 and ES wheel + formula mod, though I mounted it immediately to a Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0. The stand allows me to use my Secret Lab chair thanks to its wheel tray which stops the chair from moving, so it's like just having the front half of a full rig without having to spend $$$ on a chair too, and it's fairly portable (Though very heavy). If you do end up pulling the trigger and upgrading to something more rigid/permanent, I'd highly recommend it. You'd also then have the option of upgrading to a full load cell pedal set down the line if you wish, which is honestly the biggest upgrade you could make from your current setup. The SR-P Lite pedals aren't much of an upgrade over the G27 pedals tbh. I paired my R5 with SimJack/SimRuito Pro Pedals (Ali Express) and they are probably the best bang for buck pedals you can get.
Appreciated 🍻 Next Level gear has hit my radar actually and cheers for the heads up on pedal options, comment sections are great for figuring out where all my money is going next 🙃 I said to myself that pedals may be the last upgrade I look at, but if I do, I've always wanted the vibes when I hit ABS ...although those options are a bit pricey, I still might! 😇

Beautiful video and review! Ive been grinding a g29 for many years now and cant say anything but love for it, its a sturdy and well made piece of joy for its price. But the notchiness of its FFB and the horrible sound it gives off have finally driven me to look at upgrades. Like you I only have my desktop and need to be able to remove the wheel to ready the workplace when required. The R5 is what ive come down to and now looking at reviews and comparisons just to make sure im not stressing a purchase into a mistake. Glad to say that so far all ive seen and read have only encouraged me to get the R5! The Pedals seem to be the one common complaint, and with that mod to it I cant see it working well without being somehow mounted but I already got a plan for that! Gonna wait and see if there is some good deals to be made with black friday coming up but overall I think im already decided :)
Always massively appreciate words like yours or if it's even 1% helpful to anyone. I've recorded a new vid about how hot it gets, just trying to find the time to edit it and to also re-evaluate whether or not it impacts the FFB. I got my quickest lap when it was cooking so can't be that bad 😁🥵 Hope you find a decent Black Friday deal and enjoy the kit like I first did! 🍻
I upgraded from Logitech to the Moza R5 bundle. It served me well but after a year, I upgraded to the R12 Base and KS wheel. I still use the ES wheel for ovals because I'm used to it. The pedals are probably the weakest part of the bundle. I quickly upgraded to Simagic pedals. The R5 Bundle is probably the best entry-level kit you can buy.
@@tompsmithIt is just the union of the metal of the ring to the negative pole of the steering wheel electronics, or also called "ground connection" Does nothing else...
@@JoseFcoBN Hah, probably right. There are also 6 metal screws straight through the middle, but @duelhz7914 is still alive and hasn't been electrocuted so all good 😁
i have my R5 for soon 1 year now, absolutly fantastic, i had the ES formula wheel but quickly changed (like 1 month later) to the KS wheel for the buttons (and with the lights and telemetry update they did on all wheels, its even better) and still have a round wheel when i use a shifter instead of swapping the wheel shape on the ES everytime
Just spent 2k on an R12 build as my first rig as a drifting youtuber suggested 20nm but the r12 is cheapest i could sensibly allow. For UK users i purchased from overclockers and they offer free delivery+ good warranties. Next purchase will probably be a new PC as it seems im in the low tier these days
hi mate. I'm looking at buying an R9 from overclockers but a few of the bits I want show as pre-order. did you have that issue or were all of the bits you wanted in stock. just don't want to be waiting ages haha. I'm sure its a case of just waiting for them to receive more stock but the uncertainty is killing me! also delivery isn't showing as free for me
@@daveyfarmer7534 Hi, I just went with whats in stock tbh, i would also look at GTomega as well if stock is the. I had an issue where my pedals (Moza CRP) didnt sit nicely on my cockpit (NLR GTracer) saved myself 200 by retuning the CRPs and buying the SRPs. customer service on both sites are good. In terms of delivery most places say its free after a certain ammount of money. I cant remember if mine was as the cockpit required hiring a pallet company to transport it.
For drifting you don't want a huge amount of FFB anyways. The R12 should serve you well. Most people say between 10 and 14nm is kinda the sweet spot as far as output torque for DD wheels. For drifting, you don't even want that honestly. You want more snappy steering, not stronger steering for drifting. You made the right choice at the end of the day
Appreciated, cheers! That desk shake was pretty extreme oscillation tbh, you won't experience anything like that in game, especially when the settings are dialed in. When working properly, It's more like a resistance band force you're fighting against through corners with the road bumps thrown in. I've got a RENNSPORT vid with quite a lot of force on which will give you an idea. The R5 dialed in (or down) is probably the sweet spot for a desk setup. Cam in on the desk so there's a bit of vibration seen when hitting bumps. With the R3, you might be left wanting a bit more IMO. Hope that helps a bit. 🍻
Yeah, it's a journey acquiring all the bits for most, including myself. Whatever DD you get out there you won't be disappointed after a belt driven wheel 😎
After years of using T150 I've got R5 for my 30th birthday from my wife. I still clamp my wheel to the desk so the force is more than enough, I even have to lower it down because it gets exhausting for me 😅
Perfect vid m8 for ppl in my situation . Really thinking of purchasing the r5 bundle , and struggling to figure out if the added 130 euros added from resellers in my country (greece ) is worth it . Moza , although has plenty of european countries added to its distribution center , hasnt included mine ( not to my surprise ) , but the cost is hefty now . Good job man .
This is nice to hear, glad it aided some of your research and suits you and your setup. Hope you find yourself a good deal from somewhere 🤑 Plenty of RUclipsrs with affiliate stuff for a discount buying from certain retailers, hunt around to save a few quid!
Love this review! Just what I needed, Just one question though, what is the compatibility like with different sims and games, like the F1 games and other sims, AMS2, WRC, etc, that is if you have tried them. Thanks for this review though!
@PurelyPog Hey, cheers for the comments. Other game wise, I had the previous F1 installed, modded Automobilista for BTCC and have Dirt 2.0 installed. All no problem. Pithouse software detects and supports them with some presets I believe. I'm away at the mo so can't cross ref to check, but my memory isn't at the Joe Biden levels just yet 🤭🙃
@@tompsmith Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I actually installed pit house after I wrote my comment to see that, Pretty much every game I play seems to be supported luckily.
Hello just want to put this out here as I recently upgraded to Moza R12. Budget-ish for people who want a bit more power Wheel: Moza R12 with ES wheel or R9( don't own one but still good enough but heard there's a bit of overheating issue so maybe run 70-80% FFB) Pedals: G27 pedals with TrueBrake v2.2 mod Shifter: SHH Thorn shifter (have both Sequential and H pattern) *Not really budget when I think about it but I think this is the cheapest way you can really go to a mid-end setup
Just checked out some TrueBrake v2.2 mod vids on RUclips, not seen that one before, looks good. A lot of people seem to have footwear for braking, but I like playing in my socks, so probably influences my light pedal preference 😁 Good mix of kit though
Just moving away from G920 pedals + TrueBrake mod after 6 months (hardest spring). I'm upgrading to Simsonn pedals - a budget option but should be good according to review. The Logitech pedals have too much play which is noisy. The springs got softer after a while, there is basically no travel at the end where you actually brake. I can do 2:18.0 at Spa or 1:48.0 at Monza in ACC with them, so the modded pedals are not bad. But honestly, if I wouldn't buy Logitech set again. Now, when MOZA R3 is out, there is no room for Logitech IMHO. Or spare for a more advanced equipment if not limited to consoles.
Take that Jimmer clip with 2 forklifts of salt. ANyone watching him knows he runs his bases at way more than 3-4NM 🤣. Universally youtubers agree 10-14NM is the best place to be. I personally dont wanna spend 1000 euros on my setup so im eyeing down R9 + KS (what a beauty of a wheel !)
Think dave cam is on 6nm?! And jimmy has said that sweetspot is around 6-9nm but real cars has around 10-12nm. Not 100% sure about the numbers as it was a while I saw he's clips
@@snippidippi I went through a lot of videos in the past 2 months of wanting a DD so bad :D but one of the guys has to have low FFB becuase of his past injury/arm issue, it might be Dave tho. Im surprised about Jimmer, used to watch him a lot before he moved to his own house and got moza sponsor him.
ahhhh, I can't tell you how long I thought about challenging this as it sounded dodge as soon as he said it. From watching these guys stream I'd have guessed between 5 and 10 somewhere certainly. I gave up thinking about it in the end and just rolled with it, but knew it'd be picked up on, and rightly so 😁 Every other piece of kit I've had a go on has been at least 6, and my hands were hurting after the last one which nearer double figures I imagine (ACC rigs at Insomnia event at the NEC).
Driving at 12nm fanatec dd and i do feel like i need more. Also games like acc you need high nm base to avoid clipping. Going from 12nm to even 9 feels like a toy
There's some info somewhere saying the R5 and R9 share the same tech inside, and from the R12 upwards there's a difference for more detail. From memory I think it's a higher encoder resolution, but don't know enough about it. I imagine the R9 will still be pretty great either way! Happy saving!! 😁
Look for a DD from moza, i think the R9 for slightly more is a great, and going without a bundle but making your own and buying SR-P pedals with load cell , seems like a great deal!
I have the Mozza R5 wheelbase and pedal kit and it is amazing. Not really any videos on how to set up the Mozza pit house software and how to fine-tune the wheel settings for certain games like NASCAR heat five most videos are geared toward formula 1 iRacing, etc which is a debbie downer
Used to love NASCAR racing on my first PC! There are a bunch of presets for different games included in the Pithouse software. I've sometimes paused games and switched the profiles to test them all out. Quickly narrows down a decent baseline to work with I found.
Hey! If you're on the RENNSPORT Discord server, you should be in the Closed Beta invite only group. I can look at posting my latest settings to the 'recommended-settings' thread this evening if I can tweak them to a more satisfactory point. I feel like what I'm using is a bit make do, but worried the next update will blitz it again 😬
Which firmware version were u using for this review? I noticed that the FFB was a lot higher with the latest few versions of the wheelbase firmware. I've ran this base on a few endurance races but i've yet to perform better than when I was on my g27 with my custom built gt wheel (750.5g without the QR) partially because I didn't like the "brake feel kit" they sold tome with these sets of pedals
Hey, funny you should mention firmware. I updated it a couple of evenings ago before baselining some setups. I ended up rolling back quite a long way to 1.2.0.84. The later versions offset my wheel by 3 degree for some weird reason that really bugged me (like having the tracking in your car off), and some other stuff. I need to spend an evening fully testing it with ACC and documenting my findings. It annoyed me so much it'll be my next video to vent probably 😁🤬
Dunno if you've pulled the trigger on a wheelstand, but I have made a small short on my wheelstand that I got for £55 on eBay and it will take your DD wheel no problem. You know when sometimes you get something too good for the price you paid? That's how it is for me with this.
Hey! These did get my attention (suggestions on eBay) as they looked like the Next Level 2.0, as per your short. I thought it was too good to be true, so I pulled the trigger on a very good condition Next Level 2.0 which arrived this week. Cheers for the heads up, looks like a bargain for yourself and others who hopefully stumble across this. Is it also the weight of a small car like mine? 😗🏋♀😁
@@tompsmith yeah, it's about 20kg. Carbon steel, solid frame, immovable whilst racing. I think they made it in China for NLR, then just use the tooling to make they're own, slap on the VEVOR cutouts and there you go. I'm convinced they're near identical. I only try and shout about it because I know I'm not the only one on a budget and it's a bargain. A real one. Good luck with your official version, I reckon I could've convinced you to go cheap if I'd got to you first, they're great, swivel chairs are another matter. Bungies, lots of bungies. I keep hoping someone will make a proper video about them, because I don't want to, and I'm not the only cheap b'stard.
@@seebarry4068 if it also weighs about 20kg, then I reckon your theory checks out, great find. Nothing wrong with bang for buck, I'd have been swayed for that price 100% 🤑 Dabble and throw together a review vid and see what happens. Never thought my junk would get so much attention 😇
Sometimes, I think buying better sim racing equipment will be less costly in the long run and the more you try to cut costs, the more you'll most likely spend in the long run. Here are examples: Option A: Logitech G29 or G923 or Thrustmaster T300 then upgrade to Moza R5 then upgrade to Moza R9 then 21nm DD Option B: Moza R5 then upgrade to R9 then 21nm DD Option C: Moza R9 then 21nm DD Option D: 21nm DD But of course, it still comes to the buyers' budget. Not everyone has near-limitless sim racing budget. I think Moza R5 is still better than the Logitech and Thrustmaster rigs for long-term use.
The biggest letdown for me from Moza is the fact that they do not have a pro button box yet. They would probably make a pile of cash with one and different styles of rims. They are producting a lot of individuals wheels but they are not cheap so it can become quite expensive in the long run. I for myself bought 2 ES wheel and bought the GT rim and for the other the slightly bigger round rim.
Wouldn't surprise me if they did have a pro button box on the dev roadmap as they've been showcasing at events recently all kinds of stuff like indicator stalks and getting into the flight sim market etc. All kinds of suggestions and rumours on their Discord. But like you I think I need 2 wheel options to hand, round and GT, considering options! Can't be getting the screwdriver out each time I wanna swap 🙃
Hey! We talking wheel mods to the stock R5 wheel (ES), for which there are a handful, or other wheels fitting to the R5 base? With the latter, MOZA aren't exactly crystal clear and their website could be better. The older bases are V1 and newer are V2 (including R5). Most wheels are compatible with the V2 variants.
I don't get the fanatec issues tbh. I ordered a couple days ago and they started processing my order for delivery today already. The value of the cls DD with a powersupply brick from aliexpress for 35 euro to get 8NM is not beatable by moza.
Would have got the same if they'd been in stock and likely not been disappointed! Dodgy order fulfilment and the company going through financial and leadership change. Probably won't go under, but when you're spending that amount of dosh, the noises of uncertainty are a definite purchasing factor. Glad it's worked out well for you though, plenty of amazing DDs these days 🍻
I have had a Moza r9 for 27 months with 8 custom wheels and no problems. I also had a Fanatec in 2005 and in 3 months I changed to a Logitec. I threw everything from Fanatec in the trash and goodbye. Fanatec made toys and will disappear soon. It is the best for Simracing....
Do you think the r3 is good? The r5 bundle is 200usd more expensive than r3 in my country 😂 im planning to get the moza truck wheel after as I mainly play ets2 but unsure if the r3 is sufficient enough. Thanks!
My Logitech G27 was 3Nm, and I've dialed down my R5 for the kids now n then. For me 3Nm wouldn't be enough, 5 is where the entry should start. The R3 is marketed towards Console and all age ranges is my opinion. Just my personal thoughts, and depends what you're mounting it to. For truck sims, I'd want a nice amount of FFB 💪 I also think the larger wheel for the truck sim stuff could do with a stronger base.
Yah, I hear good things about their distribution in the US from various comments. Think they must book our UK packages into 1st class on the flight still 😂
Know what you mean, and that's a great addition. I've quietly got my eye on the MOZA mBooster pedals which are rumoured to be priced around 500-700€ upon release somewhere within the next 6 months 😇
i used to drift on a g27 and though it was clunky, i could actually drift better in assetto corsa than with my moza r5. Though i've only had it for a week and still trying to find the right settings but yeah feels too rough. Not smooth wheel flicks when transitioning drifts if that makes sense.
Yah, finding the right settings are a pain in the bum, and you wonder why MOZA doesn't do more to recommend some decent baseline stuff. I've seen plenty of drift vids using the R5 and they look dialed in, hope you've found settings that work by now.
Hey! So the way I'd describe it ...it's like going from having a tug-of-war with a noisy conveyor belt to something silent that's got resistance bands inside instead. The only noise will be coming from the vibrations of whatever you've mounted it to, hope that helps 🍻
Hi I am a new user of r5. As a 1.5 years r5 user, do you always use 100% game force feedback on r5? I am a new sim driver and want to play more F1 or racing car. What is your suggestions? Thank you!
@JoeyTse hey dude, well each game is different of course. I've done a vid on ACC settings. 100% on Pithouse, but 70 - 80% in game force feedback works there for maxing it out. 67% was the safe value, but the vid shows where the clipping kicks in as a hint about what to aim for. Hope tha helps
I just ordered the R5 bundle from their website. I live in the US and selected domestic shipping because I assumed it was shipped from within the US. Is this not the case?
It's figured out when you pop in your address. If it's an unreasonable delivery price, probably coming from their HQ. They may have distribution centres in the US these days due to demand, never know 🧐🧐

@@Teddiebear4 yeah absolutely. I've just had a quick search and some R3s start shipping out from this week apparently abruzzi-official.co.uk/shop/moza-bundles/moza-r3-bundle/ I've seen conflicting release dates, not cross referenced for accuracy. With after market adapters and essentially a watered down R5 base for the R3 but everything else looking the same, you'd think it was just a software update required huh. Either way, wish these were around when I first started gaming, amazing kit these days.
@@Teddiebear4 is it actually coming out finally? I’ve looked at it forever and it has been announced since since august of 2023. Where did you see that it is coming out in December?
That's probably in line with my assumption too with anything up from the R5. The R5 will sometimes get hot if FFB is maxed out on certain games or tracks. Most often it's just warm too. May even be improved with later firmware updates, but haven't given enough attention to a pattern of behaviour over the months. Cheers for the feedback 🍻
I know you only posted 4mins ago but a welcome distraction from work 😁 No idea, not played ets2. However, there's an Advanced Setting in the Pithouse software called Natural Inertia, which essentially reduces the feel of power steering. I can imagine with that cranked up, it'll be decent enough. Have only ever had it around half way or less for GT3 stuff, otherwise it becomes a bit of a work out. Be interesting to see what others say if they clock on to this comment, otherwise check out the MOZA Discord or some Reddit posts, always handy.
Would u guys recommend getting the moza r5 to replace my thrustmaster t300 because i swear the t300 sometimes loses a bit of force feedback so im planning on upgrading so would u guys recommend it??anyone suggestions would be appreciated:))
YES! Not the case when I got it so a completely outdated comment. I'll get a comment up on screen at the point I mention "more choice of wheels", doh!!
IMO if u have TLCMs u dont wanna go for a entry-level bundled pedals.... (I own TLCM) Make significant upgrades, dont tip toe 10 times to get where u need to be. Upgrade once a year or two years instead of 3 times per year AKA "buy once cry once". U should aim for Simagic P1000 price range...
I have the bundle for a week now, shifters are quite loud id say but you dont get to hear them when wearing a headset. the only problem there is in cases where you have other people sleeping in the next room.
Had to send my R5 back as it was faulty. They now don’t sell it on its own so I have to decide whether to go and get the more expensive R9 or 12. Very disappointed
R9 = 15bit encoder , same as R5 sadly R12 I cannot find any encoder info anywhere but if it did have higher bit encoder it would be a great buy as with R9 u will be clipping the FFB once u start wanting to run the base at 100% FFB :/. I would not buy r5 as thats entry level for those who sim race for 6-12months and then quit. Anyone else will want more power from their wheel.
Did you send it back to MOZA or a retailer? Mad they can't replace it like-for-like ...but hopefully it's not a massive amount more for a wheel base upgrade 😬😬😬😬
Hey! ACC at the start, RENNSPORT later in the vid via my closed beta invite I received not too long ago. They're dishing out about 20k of them every week/month now (can't remember which), so if you're interested you can sign up and hopefully get an invite at some point.
If you can drop me your FFB settings being used and I can replicate it, that'd be interesting. Haven't personally noticed a drop in FFB when hot and a prolonged stint.
I owned the R5, R12, and R21 from moza. I am able to overheat all of them if I use ‘bad’ settings. Or some games just produce more heat, F1 game series being a good example. For the R5 I set force feedback to 80% and set a desk fan pointing at the base and it fixed most overheat issues. The r12 and r21 at 100% is a lot for most people, I ran my r12 with overheating only happening in the most extreme driving. I run the r21 at 80% and haven’t overheated it (but definitely can at 100%) In conclusion, moza gives access to a lot of settings and incorrectly using them will make overheating be an issue, but moza does produce more heat than other manufacturers and unfortunately thermal dissipation is not their strong suit

That was a major issue for me as I don't want to spend $60 Canadian plus $49 shipping from moza since no where seems to carry the lite clutch. Biggest scam imo because the clutch connects perfectly to the srp lite pedals 😂
@@fernandoalcayaga8341 Can you give more details on the 3DRAP mods you make to have the pedals work better?
Moza R5 is magnificent piece of kit. Well recommended.
I appreciate the long-term review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for a no-nonsense review and retrospective. This type of commentary is exactly what i was looking for. I also wish my wife had smaller hands as well! Good on ya!
Really good production quality! Gonna get the r5. Can’t wait!
How long did you wait for the order to be processed?
@@sinkfireI got it from a local store so 30 min drive.
Just ordered mine
Can’t wait 😁

I watched many review videos of MOZA R5, you made me decide to buy it. Thank you
Great review, thank you, think i'm going to grab a R5 bundle and build a solid rig for it.
Im ording mine right now! I CANT WAIT!!! TYSM!
Exactly the level-headed, informative video that I was looking for. Thank you! Liked and Subscribed! :)
Thank you so much for this review! It really helps when you are seriously considering to buy it! :)
I got my quickest lap when it was cooking so can't be that bad 😁🥵
Hope you find a decent Black Friday deal and enjoy the kit like I first did! 🍻
Really useful video for me, just bought one myself and really excited.
Great video, answered all my questions!
this video really helped me a lot with making decision :D
omg thank you so much, i have the little spring inside the wheel laying around, I didn't even know what its for until I watch this video 😭
😂 ...I don't actually know if it does anything useful, doesn't sound like you've missed it
@@tompsmithIt is just the union of the metal of the ring to the negative pole of the steering wheel electronics, or also called "ground connection"
Does nothing else...
I like this setup, been looking at the KS wheel for quick swapping between that and the round ES for certain games 👌
You made the right choice at the end of the day
love the r5 one of the best beginner dd´s out there and easy to upgrade today i rdered the gt wheel mod for lmu and acc nice video good jop
Cheers, appreciated! Hope you enjoy the mod when it arrive! 🍻
Great video, me being a newbie and seeing that desk shake has made me think I should r3 it 🤔
Appreciated, cheers!
Looks like after I get a PC, I'll start saving for this one. Been on a G920 for almost 4 years and I main ACC so it's gonna be a huge upgrade
Yeah, it's a journey acquiring all the bits for most, including myself. Whatever DD you get out there you won't be disappointed after a belt driven wheel 😎
After years of using T150 I've got R5 for my 30th birthday from my wife. I still clamp my wheel to the desk so the force is more than enough, I even have to lower it down because it gets exhausting for me 😅
She's a keeper! Mine bought me a PS2 when we first started dating, she's now my wife 😁😇 I don't do massive FFB either, it's not the gym 😸

Perfect vid m8 for ppl in my situation . Really thinking of purchasing the r5 bundle , and struggling to figure out if the added 130 euros added from resellers in my country (greece ) is worth it .
Hello just want to put this out here as I recently upgraded to Moza R12. Budget-ish for people who want a bit more power
Wheel: Moza R12 with ES wheel or R9( don't own one but still good enough but heard there's a bit of overheating issue so maybe run 70-80% FFB)
Pedals: G27 pedals with TrueBrake v2.2 mod
Shifter: SHH Thorn shifter (have both Sequential and H pattern)
*Not really budget when I think about it but I think this is the cheapest way you can really go to a mid-end setup
Yeah I'm pretty sure the 3-4nm was in context of rally only
Think dave cam is on 6nm?!
I gave up thinking about it in the end and just rolled with it, but knew it'd be picked up on, and rightly so 😁
Every other piece of kit I've had a go on has been at least 6, and my hands were hurting after the last one which nearer double figures I imagine (ACC rigs at Insomnia event at the NEC).
Driving at 12nm fanatec dd and i do feel like i need more. Also games like acc you need high nm base to avoid clipping.
Going from 12nm to even 9 feels like a toy
Great video bro 👍
MOZA R5 looks the best
I`m going to be saving up abit more so I can buy the R9.
There's some info somewhere saying the R5 and R9 share the same tech inside, and from the R12 upwards there's a difference for more detail. From memory I think it's a higher encoder resolution, but don't know enough about it. I imagine the R9 will still be pretty great either way! Happy saving!! 😁
You might want to test the Alien Mods loadcell kit for the SRP Lites
Caught a review of those today by Michael Smith weirdly enough, they look cool 👍🍻
@@tompsmith there's a contact form on the website. If you're interested and would like to test it I can send you one too 🍻
Welp, I'm sold lol. Now to start saving up
Look for a DD from moza, i think the R9 for slightly more is a great, and going without a bundle but making your own and buying SR-P pedals with load cell , seems like a great deal!
This was very helpful
I have the Mozza R5 wheelbase and pedal kit and it is amazing. Not really any videos on how to set up the Mozza pit house software and how to fine-tune the wheel settings for certain games like NASCAR heat five most videos are geared toward formula 1 iRacing, etc which is a debbie downer
Used to love NASCAR racing on my first PC! There are a bunch of presets for different games included in the Pithouse software. I've sometimes paused games and switched the profiles to test them all out. Quickly narrows down a decent baseline to work with I found.
What are you pithouse settings for rennsport? The ffb update ruined everything for me and I cant find decent settings online. Great review by the way!
@@tompsmith alright thank you so much!

Great video m8
I was considering between R3 and R5 but now I know which one I choose.. (currently I have g29)
love my r5 i use the ks wheel with it
Which firmware version were u using for this review?
Nothing wrong with bang for buck, I'd have been swayed for that price 100% 🤑

Sometimes, I think buying better sim racing equipment will be less costly in the long run and the more you try to cut costs, the more you'll most likely spend in the long run. Here are examples:
Option A:
Logitech G29 or G923 or Thrustmaster T300 then upgrade to Moza R5 then upgrade to Moza R9 then 21nm DD
Option B:
Moza R5 then upgrade to R9 then 21nm DD
Option C:
Moza R9 then 21nm DD
Option D:
21nm DD
But of course, it still comes to the buyers' budget. Not everyone has near-limitless sim racing budget.
I think Moza R5 is still better than the Logitech and Thrustmaster rigs for long-term use.
Yeah, totally agree if personal circumstances allow for it.
One question, can you trust the desk clamp provided?
it's decent enough, got a foam just inside the brackets for grip and it's all metal, so should break when really tightening it up.
Hey I have a question can you use other Moza wheel mods like a GT or F1 wheel mod and put it on the wheel base that’s comes with the r5 bundle thanks
Hey! We talking wheel mods to the stock R5 wheel (ES), for which there are a handful, or other wheels fitting to the R5 base? With the latter, MOZA aren't exactly crystal clear and their website could be better. The older bases are V1 and newer are V2 (including R5). Most wheels are compatible with the V2 variants.
great vdo mate
I don't get the fanatec issues tbh. I ordered a couple days ago and they started processing my order for delivery today already. The value of the cls DD with a powersupply brick from aliexpress for 35 euro to get 8NM is not beatable by moza.
watch Ermz video from about a month ago he covers the fanatec situation.
It’s only 10 usd for shipping in the USA
Yah, I hear good things about their distribution in the US from various comments. Think they must book our UK packages into 1st class on the flight still 😂
The only thing I didn't like was the pedals. I bought simagic p1000 because I wanted it to feel like how i brake on track.
Know what you mean, and that's a great addition. I've quietly got my eye on the MOZA mBooster pedals which are rumoured to be priced around 500-700€ upon release somewhere within the next 6 months 😇
8 Nm dialed to 6Nm is the sweet spot for me if yu re racing 1-2 times per week
i used to drift on a g27 and though it was clunky, i could actually drift better in assetto corsa than with my moza r5.
What is the noise like compared to the G27? My G29 was rather noisy, and had to get rid due to the gear noise on the ffb.
Thank you!
For me 40% is already insane. But Dose increasing the game force feedback will help me improve or have more fun on driving?

I've seen conflicting release dates, not cross referenced for accuracy. @@Teddiebear4 is it actually coming out finally? I’ve looked at it forever and it has been announced since since august of 2023. Where did you see that it is coming out in December?
My R9 has never got hot...it has got warm after hours of continuous use but never hot.
Good for ets2? want strong feedback.

Yah, not too much louder than clicking a pen, just at a higher pitch is the only way I can think of describing it 🔊
im almost 2 years on the PXN V9, dont buy it. worst thing to start on. but with 2 years worth of practice its gotten better!
had to Google it, and just about 3 stars on Amazon so I'll take your word for it 😁 Practice is practice though!
Had to send my R5 back as it was faulty. They now don’t sell it on its own so I have to decide whether to go and get the more expensive R9 or 12. Very disappointed
R9 = 15bit encoder , same as R5 sadly
R12 I cannot find any encoder info anywhere but if it did have higher bit encoder it would be a great buy as with R9 u will be clipping the FFB once u start wanting to run the base at 100% FFB :/.
6:32 LOL
The wife's hands comment took me out!
my assumption is she'll never see this 😂
ahaaaa me Too 🤣🤣
What game is he playing?
Hey! ACC at the start, RENNSPORT later in the vid via my closed beta invite I received not too long ago. They're dishing out about 20k of them every week/month now (can't remember which), so if you're interested you can sign up and hopefully get an invite at some point.
好用嗎? moza r5
🧐🧐🧐
"easy to use?" is the translation I have. Any aspect in particular? 🧐 😁
R5 is maybe one of the worst on the market .Dont buy it . overheat in like 30 min max and you lose FFB
If you can drop me your FFB settings being used and I can replicate it, that'd be interesting. Haven't personally noticed a drop in FFB when hot and a prolonged stint.
@@tompsmith can we do it privet ?

I owned the R5, R12, and R21 from moza. I am able to overheat all of them if I use ‘bad’ settings. Or some games just produce more heat, F1 game series being a good example. For the R5 I set force feedback to 80% and set a desk fan pointing at the base and it fixed most overheat issues. The r12 and r21 at 100% is a lot for most people, I ran my r12 with overheating only happening in the most extreme driving. I run the r21 at 80% and haven’t overheated it (but definitely can at 100%)
In conclusion, moza gives access to a lot of settings and incorrectly using them will make overheating be an issue, but moza does produce more heat than other manufacturers and unfortunately thermal dissipation is not their strong suit
