Yee-J don’t feel offended please, but you got the racing posture of Bowser in Mario kart and Tiny on Crash Team Racing.
lol how does he drive like this
😭I love his racing posture
I literally thought he was trolling us! 😅

@@bgdaddy42069 you need to see pros on counter strike
I guess I _could_ skip the cockpit and get a DD wheel first. Looking at the Moza R12 just to get that extra buffer of FFB myself; great review! But... I'ma get the cockpit first because like I've only been sim racing with a wheel for two years, and really wanna get off the desk! I know it won't I prove actual performance and laptimes too much, but just to have a more streamlined setup(and cooler-looking setup), especially because I have the space is worth it to me! :D
One of these days you need to find your way to a convention where they have proper sim racing cockpits, your driving position is so cursed lmao
100% I'd invite Oval Jesus around for a run on my rig and feed him lunch and dinner in a heartbeat. I'd consider it a privilege. But Sydney is a long way... There must be hundreds of subscribers within an hour's drive who'd make the same offer though.
@@simonolsen9995 I mean surely he can work with a company to get him to PRI this year in Indy, I went last year and there was a bunch of setups and even ASR had a booth
@@simonolsen9995 I’m pretty sure I live in the same general area. I’d 100% let him use my rig with my DD1 if he wanted.
It is cursed but I’m infinitely fascinated watching the racing happen
Bro i literally watch just to get a glimps of it 🤣
Why do people keep sending you wheels and not a cockpit to try?
The main reason i dont setup a cockpit is the amount of space I have in my office. I also just like desk racing at this point it's been like 10 years lol
@DJYeeJay we need you to get one. You play hunched and it's taking you away from immersion. You would be shocked how much more fun and how much better you actually race when the rest of yoyr body is leaning back snd the muscles are relaxed. For me I was shook at how much better, more consistent and more comfortable I was.
@@reviewforthetube6485 I’m sure I’d like it more 😁 I have always said though I’m more of a gamer than a sim racer
@@DJYeeJay you make a great point, I got a $70 cockpit it’s sturdy, doesn’t squeak but it pushes me back a bit, so if I’m not in VR I have to pull my monitor forward, more of a lazy task, but idk might mess up something if you gotta grey cloud like myself
@@DJYeeJay i feel like you could take on desk mount reviews too.
Man has that karting drs hunch lol

I bought the R5 bundle in Feb when it was on sale. I got the bundle plus the brake kit including shipping and tax for 520. I came to that decision after reading many stories about Fanatec's black friday nightmare and their customer service. I am sure Moza has its own troubles, but it seemed to be less. I only have a few hours on it, but now that my rig is done that should be shooting up here soon. My take away so far is that:
1 - Software is pretty good. Tons of adjustability, stable, UI looks very nice. Not sure what else to add here.....
2 - The wheel itself has a lot of power, it will be a minute before I feel the need to upgrade. I came from an old ass thrustmaster, you could not even get drivers for anymore. Details in the FF seem
good but as this is my first DD I have no comparison so make of that what you will. Very solid feeling, well constructed, well machined parts and so far flawless.
3 - Pedals are very solid, and well made. I am glad that I got the brake kit. Stock spring were pretty wimpy and was hard to modulate the brakes consistently. Easy decision for 15 USD.
4 - Price was pretty great at the time, that is why I pulled the trigger. Although, pulling that trigger shot my bank account in the face after I realized I could not use it on my desk very well. That led to
full sim rig, making button boxes, making spotter leds, buying a gaming TV, ambient lights......... After using simhub so much I am very glad I paid the guy who makes it. He deserves more.
5 - Desk mount is SUPER solid like you said. What little racing I did on my desktop, it never moved an inch. Unlike my older wheels that always came loose no matter what I did to secure it.
BTW anyone looking to make a simrig, buy a seat out of a European car if you do not want to plunk down 3-400 dollars on a dedicated seat. Many of them have all the controls for adjustment but they are not power, at least on the passenger side. So you keep the adjustability. I managed to find a like new passenger side seat out of a Volvo V70 for 50 dollars out the door. I did have to remove it myself, but that is super easy if you have a socket set.
Sorry I did not mean to give my own review, I got carried away. My intention was to corroborate your impressions of the wheel. Great video BTW, subscribed.
Edit: Not sure what is going on with the formatting, sorry.
I really don't like the wheel face, looks extremely cheap and like something from ps2 era
R5 was my first direct drive wheel and had it around 18months now. Yes, the pedals arent great and would have gone higher within the Moza range had my budget allowed... HOWEVER, its a fantastic piece of kit. I have zero regrets in buying this and while I know my upgrade route from this point, i feel no reason to rush even 18 months down the line.
What would that be for people who want to get into it with a similar budget to your previous one.
Just upgraded form a Logitech to a G29, I said the same thing in my video about the desk space compared to Logitech + the quick release makes direct drive already worth it. Great video 👍🏼
I’ve had the r5 for over a year now and it’s really good for the price, I don’t have the pedals though as I have the Thrustmaster t-lcm’s.
You can also get a formula style wheel mod for the basic ES wheel.
Agree completely with what you said, it’s a great starter wheelset for someone that has a little more budget to start with.
The best is the best because its better then the rest but is this the best? I'm guessing it's not the best but it's closer to the rest we need another wheelbase thats better then the rest!
Haha
I find it very cute how much he leans into the corners and into the wheel everytime haha
Bro is just like me: to degenerate to take wheel of😅
Also have a Moza R5 and love it. One of the biggest negatives to the wheel is if you prefer to run other sims such as Gran Turismo it does not have console support and only supports a limited number of PC titles
Thanks for the video, I agree with your assessment of the MOZA Racing R5 bundle. Don't worry about Fanatec..... I started out with Fanatec CSL DD 5Nm 'bundle' (4 separate boxes and customs charges) and got royally shafted. Emails and secondary orders ignored. No communication or customer service at all. Still trying to deal with RMA BS on failed pedals months later. In the meantime I replaced my racing SIM gear with the MOZA R5 bundle (all 4 pieces in one box, amazing) and have zero complaints. The R5 DD is maybe even smoother than the Fanatec one was, and the PitHouse software is way better as well. The pedals are certainly low end, but very serviceable and feel solid. I am only sorry that I didn't start out with MOZA to avoid the customer hell-scape of Fanatec.
I've had an R5 for about a year or so. Really awesome wheel. Works great for me on a desk set up.
I don't know why you guys complain about Yee-J seating position. I do also drive in a shrimp position :)
I love these reviews. I love that they’re not from some hardcore sim racer with a cockpit and triple monitor setup, but still from someone who is really good at it, but mannnn it’s hard to overlook that horrible posture😭😭😭
How do you not have insane back pain💀
Edit: As for Moza as a beginner wheel . . . yep, Prices have come down so much in th elast 3-4 years I believe. Enough now to allow newbies to swing their dollar over to a DD wheel bundle as a starter kit, just like that R5 bundle you reviewed here. Players can't go wrong and I know other experienced players have echoed your thoughts on the need for good pedals as they are the most important part of the kit. I use a different Dd wheel but in the end they are all going to give a better simulation and that's a good thing.
By being biased toward companies that give you free stuff you're meaning you're just like any other human on the planet and is exactly why I won't watch RUclipsrs who try to tell us they are about to give us an honest and fair review of presents from companies looking for free and positive advertising. Sick of hearing it - sick of the 'unbiased reviews". Free units can be onsold and money put in pocket so no payment, Hmm? I would argue that point.
Then there's one utuber I was viewing lately who told me/us right at the end of the video that the gear he just gave a "fair and unbiased review" of, was given to him. That is so disingenuous and an even worse con imo. Keep on racing mate.
I've had nothing but quality assurance issues with Moza, my R5 has inconsistent ffb, the wheel's shifter paddles broke, and when I replaced them with the fancy frs wheel both of the ones they've sent have broken. It's just not worth the money, save for a fanatec.
(Before watching) I've been debating on buying this exact combo for MONTHS now.. Time to see what the opinions are!
I Just need a base MOZA fit a TSW Trucking wheel ?? will the R5 work or is it to small ??ANY1?
i live in a 35 ft rv with my wife and three cats and i have a desktop gaming rig and a full sim rig. you never have too little space.
As an avid user and supporter of Moza, great review. Only thing I have to input is, turn off the "Hands Off Protection". If you're wondering what a specific slider does in pithouse. I recommend turning the FFB gain and torque to 100%. Then try each slider individually at 0 and 100%. Once you have a clear understanding of what each slider does, you'll better understand how they work together too.
Thank you!
Is it worth going to the R9 or R12? Or is 5 enough for ovals.
Solid review. Thorough. I dont think you missed much here. Fanatec is similar to Moza so you arent missing out on too much yet. Although i do prefer Fanatecs wheel selection a little more.
I got an r9 because I figured I’d be upgrading the pedals anyway. Got the good Moza pedals and love it. I think it was closer to $700 all up though.
You can send me those pedal upgrades....I will pay shipping!
Highly recommend the R5 Bundle. Pedals aren’t great but serviceable
Are the pedals better than g29 pedals ? Because they have no resistance like the g29
@@dkkonjiki serviceable enough to use until you can get a set of load cells
there is no best option just options that are very close to each other.
Is this Moza R5 wheel compatyible with Xbox series X ?
Because you mentioned being a Counter-Strike enjoyer, it pains me to see someone not using some of the new affordable analog keyboards (e.g. SteelSeries Apex TKL 2023, Razer Huntsman V2) or the more expensive options (Wooting). These modern 0.1mm actuation analog keyboards are just 10-20x better than any mechanical keyboard with nice switches in CS2.
You’re right I really do need a new keyboard. People who watch me really underestimate how little I change my setup and upgrade anything 🤣
2:30 and if You take off rim (quick release, takes no more than 5 seconds), that footprint becomes even smaller.
R5 is a good bundle when Your old wheel dies 2 weeks before important must participate race and You don't have big budget. I broke my CSW 1.5 after ~10 years of heavy usage while performing biannual cleaning maintenance. I had choice between Fanatec and this bundle. Hard choice between 2 good options. Wheel feels different to CSW and I didn't got slower. I like quick release better in R5. But F1 rim on Fanatec had best button layout for handbrake. I am still struggling with R5 and that is my main complaint. Flex in paddle shifters aren't great, but ok.
Haven't tried Moza pedals, kept my CSL LC pedals.
And in choice between R5 bundle or my old wheel working + 500 Eur in my account, I would choose later :)
The wheel was actually never an issue for the footprint, where it gets a little bit in the way is the height of the base. Because the Cammus wheel has no base and just a tiny stand, it helps in that department. One day I’ll try the fanatec wheel!
Kinda. The pedals go in the trash, a pedalset with a loadcell brakepedal is minimum to be competative. I do love mine, its great.
Yep you can’t really make a
Its almost $500 tho 😭
that’s practically nothing in the sim world. just don’t be broke or this hobby ain’t for you
Been thinking about getting a DD wheel like that Moza for a while but I really question the desk clamps for them, seems like they're just kinda made for Ikea desks with nothing underneath. I have a super old thick wood desk and the frame that holds the center drawer in place just gives barely enough room to fit my G29 with the drawer still in. Any clamps taller, deeper, etc. would probably conflict with the desk frame even if I removed the drawer. Decisions...
100% the clamps will fit your desk. They’re a different type to the g29 and much taller
@@DJYeeJay Alright interesting
I gotta ask: do you drive a regular car all up on the wheel too?
No I drive a car normal lol. I think if I propped my monitor up about 6 inches I’d drive more normal
DJ what are the pedals you do use full time
id love to get a moza wheel but im broke
I knew it would be your favorite
I’ll save you some time right now. R5 wheel and base with TLCM pedals. You’re welcome.
I prefer the V3s personally I think the price is actually worth
@@DJYeeJay not comparable, tlcms are 2/3 the price
@@bauleycivic ya I think that what you get for the extra price is worth it
As if a company not sending you free stuff is any indication that there's something shady going on behind the scenes. Though for Fanatec, there is something shady going on behind the scenes.
That’s what I was referring to bud it’s a joke
Heusinkfeld and Simcube haven't send free simgear too. They must be real scumbags, criminals and despicable people!!!
@@DJYeeJay lol
l also play other games like Call of Duty using a mouse and keyboard while my G29 and shifter are on my desk
When I get to the point where I can up grade I think I would go with the fanatec csl dd w/the GT wheel. Nothing against moza. I think fanatec has better upgrade options
Which one do you prefer the moza or the turtle beach?
moz is 10x better lol
Yee! Dude, I love your content.. I just realized I wasn't subscribed! I'm surprised you don't have a rig brother? Can we start a rig donation fund for you? haha. The iracing iceberg is so good
Had G24, G27 and then upgraded to R5 bundle. Moza R5 is worth the slightly higer price. I've since upgraded to R12 base but still use the wheel from R5 bundle..
dude just forgot that simagic exists and is better than anything he listed

I know my opinion as random guy on the internet isn't worth a great deal but I've been very happy with my R12, which I use with the GS V2P and CS V2P wheels and modded T-LCM pedals. If Moza ever releases pedals with a hydraulic brake, I will be very tempted.
I don't think the R12 will ever leave me wanting for more torque and the wheels feel great in the hands.
My father in law has the R5 bundle and uses it with the TSW truck wheel, also a great piece of kit.
I'd definitely recommend Moza hardware to anyone.
i got the moza r5 bundle about 2 months ago and i can tell u moza is the way to go. the build quality is amazing ive had almost zero issues with it. my 1 issue that i have had though is my r5 does tend to get hot after use (for example maybe 3 laps of the nurburgring it will start to get hot) though it generally stays under that 60C threshold (in my room) so i dont lose any FFB to my knowledge. i will say that the pedals do have to be used with the performance kit for any type of sim racing though id recommend just buying a set of the SRP pedals that are loadcell
Check out the Simsonn pedals. They basically copied heusinkveld but sell them for 1/5 the price with load cells.
Im on the moza r12 and its great. If you can aford it, take it. Im on a table too cause of space issue and never had a problem, exept my table making sound on heavy vibrations.
I purchased the bundle as my first set after attempting a couple of time trials with a mouse and key board. What a difference. I am expanding to the H-shifter. I would like your thoughts on the clutch addition. I am concerned that the spacing between the pedals is too narrow.
at the end of 2022 when I've jumped into sim racing, bought this bundle (with a NLR F-GT), and using it since. I really like it, gives the exact info what I need. maybe with a better pedal set (or with the break pedal extension) i could be better (after 17k laps now ~2k on oval), but not taking this whole thing so seriously.
if someone wants a set what don't cost way too much, I could definitely suggest this.
I have been a wheel racer on and off for a decade. The r5 was my first DD where I thought it wasn't a waste of money if in only did a handful races a month. Not several months into ownership It has made me want to race more and I think will upgrade in the next few months. And If i didn't want to upgrade this would work very well for me for the continued future.
You gotta try the CSL DD (with a cheap, non-fanatec power supply). You’ll be amazed at the difference between 5 and 8nm.
I got the r-9 bundle with the 13 inch wheel. Highly recommend with me as well. Went from a Logitech wheel to this and love it. Easy setup and not a long wait on shipping like other companies.
i have a moza r5 and i think it is a great option for anyone looking to upgrade off something like a logitech g920
Love the posture
I may have missed it in the review. Did you set the force feedback in Moza’s software to the full 5.5 Nm or did you limit the output in any way and to what?
You’ve convinced me. I’m about to order an R12.
I havent tried the R12 but for ovals you might not need that much. I run under the max strength even on the R5
@@DJYeeJay I bought the R12 as the price was reasonable and I do occasionally do road when I am bored of that week's ovals, and sometimes in my league. I agree though, after using the R12, the R5 would be fine for just oval.
r5 is the best for the $
I read they overheat!? This is making hard for me to decide :/
R12 is the best.
My only problem with Moza is that their shipping is outrageous
Maybe the Fanatec Rebel Alliance will send you a CSL DD 😂
what about M/K setup?
I use a wii wheel for mario kart
Be careful! My r5 broke yesterday the usb port on the back that connects to your pc just fell out while I was playing! The center white piece just snapped and got stuck in the wire and wire just fell out hitting me in my leg!
no way it just fell out. you def had to have been way too rough with your cables
hey @Albert Shares hope all is well with you. i just had a couple questions about the life span of your moza wheelbase i have heard they get hot and eventually burn out is that a true symptom you have noticed? how is it functioning now? and did you order direct from moza or elsewhere?
I have wanted one of these bundles but have noticed vastly different experiences in reviews but I have yet received a firsthand experience about the product and its lifespan
Swear the best is the Fanatec CSL DD. Been running it for the last few months. The load cell pedal upgrade is AMAZING. Dropped $600ish on it altogether and it was well worth the $.
i dropped less than that and was able to get the R9 with load cell pedals.
saying budget is crazy when its almost 1k
I’m having a hard time getting pit house on my PC
I went from a G25 to a Moza R5 and it's brilliant.

you previously reviewed the Cammus C5, but should I buy the R5 or the C5? It's a desk racer with the same clamp as you…
If you already have cheap pedals from like a g29 I’d get a cammus c5 wheel no bundle, if you don’t have anything yet I’d get the moza r5 bundle
@@DJYeeJay THX. I think your C5 review was a promotion, but it was still impressive and has put it on my list of buyers. I got a 30% off coupon so the total price for the C5 including shipping is $200, which is a nice savings and growth opportunity.

Maybe I'm just a poor pleb, but $500 is not a budget wheel set. A logi G920 is $200 on sale or $250 when not. That's budget. That's "I wanna see if I'm into this simracing thing." $500 is an investment backed by knowledge.
yeah you’re def just poor because $500 is at the bottom of my budget. buy the logitech wheel used if you’re not sure you’re into sim because those are literally toys compared to budget sim rigs like the R5.
Dude this is direct drive unlike cheaper logi, of course its a budget sim racing set
You should try the thrustmaster tmx pro
so whats the point to switch between r5-t9 or r12?
the number is what that bases Nm Torque output, R5= 5 Nm , R9 = 9 Nm, etc for their other bases
Bro needs a rig so bad. The posture.. just… ughhhhh…🤮
