- The Moza R5 Direct Drive Racing Simulator Bundle is a sim racing setup you see all over the place and one that I heard nonstop when I put my G920 on a GTtrack earlier this year.

Its hard to hate the G series as it's many a sim racer's first hand shake but in the current market it doesn't make sense to me without a serious price cut with the proliferation of low cost direct drives like the Cammus C5.
The only reason why I can see people getting it is buying it used for cheap

Great review! I went from a G923 to an R9, because like you said the Logitech wheels just leave you wanting more. I absolutely love my Moza base and wheels (KS and CS)

Hey man try playing with the set up abit. It may seem overwhelming but some easy stuff to start with is bb (break bias) and aero. Lower your aero for more top speed or raise it to be more stable in medium/high speed corners. For break bias, if your front tyres are locking up move break bias more rearwards (increase it). Id say set up is also partially preference based on the driver but with the default set up compared to my own one i go just above 2.3 seconds faster. However it is possible to get gold with the default set up (with lower fuel and soft tyres).

@@sirtaylor2569 oooh siiick!! What accessories did you pick up? Moza has since sent over their handbrake and shifter and they've been awesome for drifting.
Also, should've mentioned in the video my GTtrack is a review unit from Next Level Racing - but on that note, did you end up drilling new holes for the R5 or use the clamp? I found mine didn't line up but I've seen people talking about how theirs did.
@@NPCLiam I got the R5 kit with the cheap pedals, handbrake and H-shifter. Thus far I haven't drilled anything into my cockpit since 2 screws for the wheelbase seem to be just enough for its power (if it had any more I'd fix it better I guess). I'm loving this setup, I mainly play beamNG, Dirt 2 and AC(C) and its SO good

The R5 with the proper settings on ACC is unreal compared to the G920. I can see why people dog on the G920 and TMX after upgrading now LMAO.
BTW if you want to make your TH8A shifter more realistic feeling grab the Clix Beetle GT mod. I ordered one off ebay from AUS and it was worth the $40 and 2 week wait. It adds the feel of the clunk into gears that shifter is missing.
How big a difference is there in the r3 and r5?
My g920 is the reason i love racing and cars so much now, worth every penny, got it for 200

Man you cant beat a g29/929 for $249 that you can find them for new but Moza is absolutely amazing i got that R5 bundle and a R12 and CRP. Pedals and mozas shifter and handbrake its so so good and very premium

Thanks homie! It's an amazing jump for sure. Been loving the experience. The rig is the Next Level Racing GTtrack. They sent it out last year as a review unit for videos and it's been pretty solid. Definitely too expensive for what other companies are offering at the similar tier so definitely shop around! I've seen TrakRacer and PlaySeat have some super solid options there.
I just ordered the R5 this morning. I’m coming from the G923 which does have the true force like the G PRO and I do think I’m going to miss the true force it really does add a lot. I was going to get the G pro for that reason but didn’t because I keep having reoccurring software issues with the Logitech unfortunately. I looked on RUclips to try and find a solution and there are so many logitech G series troubleshooting videos, which is not a good thing. I am looking forward to stronger force feedback on the Moza.

You’re totally right. I should’ve clarified. When I said it “clicked” what I meant was I finally clicked on the right item inventory to heal a blood wound instead of clicking on all of them and figuring out I never brought the right one in the first place…still hot garbage at the gunplay lol

Can you use the R5 on Horizon 5? I just ordered the R5 bundle for $459, and at that price, there was no reason to look at the 923. I also grabbed the brake upgrade and clutch for $99 :)

That’s honestly super rad though - but yeah direct drive is a pretty nutty upgrade for sure - depending on how much you wanna spend, work in some budget for better pedals, the SRP pedals that come with the bundle are definitely the weak spot.
I got a moza r12 and i tried an 20+ nm one and I think im just going to go back to belt driven or the r5. since the price point of the r12, pedals, shifter, hand break and chassis wasn’t high but it wasn’t that cheap either so idk. and I rarely use all the force feedback like 4nm is good enough for me.
i used to hate on the g29 i didn't even have a wheel its good not the best but its good
i switch to the moza r5 from 3 week of having the g29 . i whish i took it slow buying my why the moza r5 greatest buy i did .

Thanks a ton man!! So the sim display is an old Samsung TV - 4k 60hz, I believe called 7 series TU6000 or something along those lines. It’s not the best picture quality for today’s standards but it’s cheapish for how big it is haha - PC monitors though are - bottom: LG Ultragear GP83b-b and top is ASUS ProArt PA278QV

That really all depends on your budget, but the R9 is a better base yes and overall Moza has a more fleshed out ecosystem for pedals, wheels and accessories for sure.
no heating issues in longer than usual racing sessions ? im so tempted to get a R5 to replace a TMX wheel
How long are you looking for? My longer sessions are usually only 20-30 minutes at a time.

I do love it! it’s a combo of a few pieces, the top is a butcher block from Lowe’s stained in acacia espresso 72”x30”, two black Alex drawers hold it up and then my Grovemade shelf kinda ties things together.

hey I keep hearing these wheelbases for moza racing get really and burn out is this true? I have been extremely interested in this product and can't get any firsthand experience info on how it holds up. its great the product feels cool but i don't want it to burn out after a couple months.
I'm probably not the best person to speak on high use longevity since my rig isn't always setup ready to go.

What stand are you using for your wheel setup?
Just an old entertainment center - gets the job done but there’s a few feet between the screen and the rig so it’s not the most ideal
do you have to use that clamp on that rig next level gt track ?thanks thinking of getting one of the wheel and pedals (moza) and that rig is the same as mine
Oh dope! You either have to use the clamp or drill new mounting holes - the thread pattern on the bottom of the R5 does not line up with the holes the GTtrack. Luckily that mount does come included when you buy the R5 bundle so you could always start with the mount, then drill holes later if you wanted.

does the Moza R5 have a xbox menu button or any way to map a button to it?
Hmm, not natively, but you might be able to run a key rebinding software that can trigger applications to open. Not entirely sure tho, it would definitely be a workaround type solution.
what settings are you using for the r5 and ams2?
I play Assetto Corsa - but the r5 settings are the Boosted Media R5 video from a couple years ago. I know he just posted something saying he’s got some better settings to share and for Moza to remove that video, but I’m still on it haha

Base looks great, but honestly I have G25 Pedals with mods, and they would blow these Pedals away, plus no clutch included. Seems a bit cost cutting. I think Ill go base and wheel and combine with my pedals and shifter.
That is the nice thing about the hardware is you can mix and match stuff on the game’s end. If the G25 pedals are like the G920, yeah they’re close, the material on the SRP pedals are definitely nicer but just as if not even lighter to press from what I remember. Definitely the weakest part of the bundle.

What mouse pad do you have for your desk
It’s the Hyte CNVS Play Mat - full disclosure they did sent it to me last year for a video. I don’t use the RGB really since it adds a couple extra cables and it’s also a biiiiit small for what I would like, but I do like the surface feel for my mouse.

like no. i barelly have 300$. t300rs is 500 with shitty plastic pedals and no shifter.
meanwhile you can get a g29 with shifter for 300$ when they on sale.

The g29 really is a solid recommendation - depending on local prices it is definitely too expensive for the current market, but if it's found for a good discount it's still such a win for scratching the itch.

Neither are compatible actually - one of the trade offs of direct drive unfortunately. Fewer wheels are console compatible

Hey I've got something you can improve on, instead of using the desk clamp actually screw the base into the screw mounts in cockpit - also give me one pllsssss : )
The GTtrack doesn't have a matching thread pattern to the R5 so I'd have to drill new holes which I wasn't gonna do for this haha
Bought a g920, gears in the motor were broken within a week, normal settings for assetto.. wasnt able a refund either... Getting a t300
@@Ls1-ow9tx riiiip that super sucks. If you’re paying full price for the t300 I’d take a took at the Moza r3 or Fanatec CSL R2R bundles, both better options if you’re on PC.

What chassis/seat is that?
Next Level Racing GTtrack (review unit from them) - it's good for sure but at $900 is definitely too expensive. The chair is totally solid but they just sent me a review unit GT Elite Front and Side Mount edition and it's so much nicer and also I think $500. Only thing is that one doesn't come with a seat.

Why do I see all of these sick sims and setups while I have a plastic wheel c-clamped onto a plastic table with a dell laptop. I just don't understand like why are sims and wheels so much like my plastic wheel was 64 dollars I also have plastic pedals that I hate because when barefoot and you put your foot in the wrong place it pinches it. I just wanted a decent wheel but I thought the wheel was a good deal but I guess it's alright for a fun. Yeah I'm not sure what to do. But if you have any wheels that are good for beginners like are maybe less than 150 or 100. Anyway I'll be going now I have to do other things just chilling with a 64$ plastic made wheel..
First time wheel owner. 2nd day with g920 and it's trash. The gas is too light, the brake it too hard and the secure knobs that hold the steering wheel in place keep disengaging. I do love the feel of the wheel and pedal shifters but that is about all. The feedback is jerky and feels like a caricature of racing.
It definitely misses on a lot of aspects, but how cheap you can find it I think it gets the job done. The real bummer is how Logitech have made those wheel worse over the years instead of improving them.
@@NPCLiam Thinking about spending double and going with the Moza 5 bundle. I don't want to do a stick manual so seems like the next progression from the 920.
@@joi8674 Solid call. The Moza R3 and Fanatec CSL RDR bundles at $400 and then the R5 bundle at $500, if someone is really into this, not a bad entry point at all for stuff that you really might never need to upgrade from
@@joi8674 Also my hot take is that shifters are overrated for the experience haha - it doesn’t feel nearly as cool as in an actual car and unless you’re doing drifting or rally and stuff paddle shifters are the way to go.
@@NPCLiam So I can work with the G920 but it keeps coming loose on my desk. I'll be in the middle of driving and the force feedback is causing the wheel to just about fall off my desk. Does the Moza 5 have this issue ?

My setup is nothing crazy only a 6700xt 3600x rig so I’m sure things could look better but honestly when you’re pegging it through the woods in DR2.0 it doesn’t matter how good or bad it looks. I do recommend using some sort of super sampling though, seems to be the most important setting of all when it comes to VR. Just crank that shit and set most everything else as low as you’re comfortable going

By a TON. Direct drive, which is style of the R5 base is a lot stronger and more detailed that the G29’s gear-driven system, plus Moza has a whole ecosystem of accessories where Logitech doesn’t.

@@aaronvarghese6955 Unfortunately not. That’s the one downside of direct drive is a lot fewer are console compatible. Moza does have an R3 that’s Xbox compatible and Fanatec has a direct drive that’s PlayStation compatible.
